Hey, I'm back, all right? Just watch my homeboy joint.
Um um, year moments.
Um, hey, y'all don't mind that stuff back and going on behind me.
Um, I'm doing, um, some stuff inside the house being a fix up.
I'm not my villa, but but I do try to fix stuff I own.
You know what I mean? Trying to fix up some stuff, save some money.
So I'm gonna start by doing the usual, man.
Whatever happened to goods and services, man? You remember goods and services? Remember when people were happy to provide you with excellent service because they wanted you to come back? You remember that? Do you remember when people actually valued you as a customer like they would, You know, speak some extra napkins in your bag or or understand? You know, your complaint about something like, Oh, man, you know I'm sorry, Uncle. Freeze eu. No.
Let me let me fix what it is that that got you down here to the store.
So I say that because so I have a beef with Verizon, right? Bought the purchase.
The new iPhone, um, with the iPhone 12 pro Saturday, and it's still not activated.
So So I am frustrated, right? That's just for one.
I'm in the store, of course.
You know, on your bill, they add something.
Tried they up, charge you without you looking.
You know, um, you know, like, it was going on with this man, you know? What was the deal? Hey, what's up? You're looking at the man.
Hey, I didn't follow you.
I don't know why.
This is, like, the second time I've seen you.
I'm just gonna make sure I follow you.
What's up? Chat.
So I'm complaining about Verizon right now.
I'm going to get to my meant to my knicks or whatever, but I'm complaining about Verizon.
Poor service, man. It sucks.
You know what I mean? But, um, so anyway anyways, um, I want to talk about my Mex and my next right.
Both are in weird spots.
Both are are in that a place where new out front office stuff is going on.
Um, you know, feel both franchises feel like they may have cornerstone pieces.
I want to start off with the mets. Stone.
Um, I just want to start up because the world serious is going on.
And even though it's it's fun to watch, I think the rays air up one.
Nothing right now, by the way, anyway.
Um, but I want to start with my max.
Man, I'm frustrated that we can't get position players at positions of need, but we have a plethora of position players at positions we don't need.
Right, So we have, um So it's shortstop.
We have, um, Ed Rosario.
Um, you may like him.
You may not Excuse that, but he is a He is a decent guy right now.
Right? So we have Luis Guillermo Gear May and Andres Jimenez.
Um, but we don't have a third baseman, right? I mean, yeah, I made like, um, j b.
But, um, is he a long term answer there? Is that Jeff McNeil's long term spot? Like Jeff McNeil's that, But what do you play them defensively? You know, if he left field on, is he a second baseman? You know, you see a third date, You know, I don't like him at third.
I don't think the Mets either, because if they did, they wouldn't have traded for Todd Frazier with the season already over, you know? Yes, It's one of those.
It is one of those deals.
How do you like, um, Conforto and, um, Brendan Nemo in the outfield.
I know what you're thinking.
Uncle Freezing you.
We need a center fell that.
I know this ideally daily we could find, um, a center fielder with some speed.
Um, good defense.
Um, can hit lefties and righties don't necessarily have to be a switch hitter.
Hey, thanks for the tip.
Um, you're looking at the manor.
Thanks for that tip. I appreciate that.
You know, it goes a long way to helping the channel and stuff, You know what I mean? Um, so, ideally, in center field, we could get a guy with some speed.
Um, that could hit at the top of the lineup, maybe hit for average.
Maybe like 2 80 some.
Some really good defense doesn't have to be gold glove, but definitely if we could get a guy that can take the pressure off Nemo.
Excuse me in ca photo and center would be good.
Right? Um, you know, maybe steal some bases hit for average play good defense um, halfway decent arm.
Um, we hadn't had that type player in a long time.
When was the last time we had a player that in center field that we know could hit for average 52 Player was the last time we had a 52 player in center field.
Number 15 right? Exactly.
I know what you're thinking, and I know what you're thinking, man.
Some some, um, but what you are thinking? You also thinking, like, you know, um, Beltran.
Players like that don't come along often, though, right? How is that new? What's the name of the kid be drafted? Is he the kid? The kid we drafted this year? Let me see if I could find his name.
I'm always trying to scroll through.
New York Mets 2020.
Draft pick Pete Crow.
Armstrong is a center fielder from Harvard Westlake High School.
Okay, um, so I know I heard about heard about this kid, Um, a couple of years ago.
I think it was it.
Maybe last year.
Whenever, um I think the kid has potential.
I don't know what all his tools are.
These tools take honestly like the scanner report on these kids.
Um do team to do seem to change some based off of them filling out is men like what they used to do in high school and, hey, what's up? Sf Paul 86 when these kids got him Report, um is when they're 17.
18 19 compared to what they look like at age, you know, 23.
You know, you just you just don't know, you know? You remember how skinny amid Rosario Waas, right? Remember how skating? Um Ahmad Missouri awas.
And what's up with Rosario's defense? Is he gonna be our long term answer at shortstop? I mean, we I think we legit may have to wait, have to wait and be patient with Rosario Rosario.
Even though he's frustrating like we did with Dominic Smith, we had to wait on Don Smith. We had to wait.
Wait, wait, wait.
But don turned out to be the guy, basically.
I mean, you know, the patients with him wind up paying off.
I mean, I remember hearing Dom Smith's name and in trade rumors one time, you know, um, but he But to his credit, he you know he shaped up got in better physical shape.
Um, you know, I think it's pitch recognition is better.
I think he doesn't try to win the game with one swing of the bat anymore.
You know me, But but smooth hitting, left handed, first baseman.
Um, you know, we like to think they come along often, but they don't really.
I mean, how often do you see a smooth hitting left handed first baseman? I mean, there are guys out there like, you know, that their guys out there, but not guys that potential.
What did What did he What did he hit for the year? What was his bat batting average? I think his batting average was somewhere near.
Eso for his career is 2 58.
So for his commanders to 58.
Um, this year I know you had a breakout year, man.
Eso He batted 3 16 this year.
10 home runs, um, 56 hit, 56 hits and 177 at bats.
And so this this site baseball reference is showing dumb is at £239.
I thought he was smaller than that by now.
I thought he was, um I thought it was about maybe 2 25.
I mean, I don't know.
I don't know, but Dems average have gone from, uh, Where is it his average is going from? And am I wrong for using outdated stats? I'm using batting average.
I don't know if people even used batting averages a stat anymore.
But last year, okay, So this he batted 3 16 last season.
He brought it to 82 the year before 2 24 and the year before that. 1 89.
So in the same amount of at bats, he raised his batting average 34 points.
I think that's great.
But here's the thing, though.
What do you do with Peter Lands? Oh, he struggled this year.
I mean, he he got hot towards Well, hot is probably the wrong word.
Hot, maybe the wrong word.
But he he definitely improved towards the end of the season.
Um, but now you have Dumb and P Alonso at first.
So what do you do there? Because Dom is not a natural left fielder.
Even though he made some outstanding throws to third base this year.
I think you made a couple.
He threw a couple of seeds to third days.
Um, this year, man, it was a man.
I'm a couple of rows he made, but in terms of, um, coverage area, like how much ground you cover in left field? You know, I think we'll have to fix, fix some stuff, right? So So we have a dilemma.
So basically, what we have is is are catching Catching issue is a major issue, right? Our pitching staff is Yeah, we have major major issues.
Um, in our pitching staff right now, Um, I don't know if it's directly related to Brodie Van Wagon and or not, But understanding Alderson pitching was the least of our worries.
Right? And I talked to some are saying about this way.
Kind of chopped it up a little bit about this last night.
Um, there was a time where we had Jonathon Niese.
Oliver Perez Dillon Gee, um Noah Syndergaard Jake Graham.
Um, what's the kid that got suspended for PDS? The kid Um, the kid got suspended for ped s.
I forget his name, but he had a bunch of potential.
He got a lifetime ban, and I think it was lifted.
And then he came back and wasn't really but we had him.
And in our I forget his name.
But anyways, anyways, the most important point of making this is that at one point, pitching was not one of our weaknesses.
Pitching was a strength, boss.
Our weakness, our weakness.
Whereas we were young on the infield like there was, Ah, a few years of Davis, Lucas Duda.
There was a few years of post holes. A race.
There was a few years of women.
Flores Ruben Tejada.
Um Cabrera, Um Daniel Murphy.
Justin Turner in an outfield.
There was, um your curtain knew in heights is your come four does.
You're Nemo's, um, bunch of different guys right now.
I think we're at a point where where we legit have to maybe do an overhaul.
I don't know where our farm system ranks, but I don't know.
And we're in this situation where where we could start calling up, guys, let me see something.
And we're just going to see what the farm system look like.
New York Mets **** system.
All right, so our farm system is ranked 25th by baseball America.
That is very frustrating.
That is very frustrating at this point.
At this point, do you look at training off veterans to improve your farm to improve your farm system? At this point, I think you have to at this point, I think you have to because we have guys that we can't depend on now.
So we have Noah Syndergaard who's out with Tommy John.
He won't be any good for you mean this year is done.
Next year is probably not done, but you have to give them some time to knock the rust off.
So I would say, You know, if we make the postseason next year, he'll probably be one of those.
That's that's at least, you know, in the mix of returning to what it was prior.
If you're a Mets fan, you're frustrated with Steven Met.
If you are legit, a Mets fan, you're frustrated to death with Stephen, man, you know? What does he offer? Well, what is Steven Matz offer you right now? What about David Peterson? You're like David Peterson.
I do? Yeah, I think he just needs some seasoning.
Um, yeah, some seasoning is some.
Some innings is basically, and basically it's basically what he needs.
So according to Baseball America, the reason why the Met to rank 25th is because, um, a few players dropped off their list.
And what? And we're not replaced.
So the people that they reference are Peter Lanzo, Michael Conforto set.
Luego Geoff McNeill, Brandon Nimmo among amid Rosario and Noah Syndergaard have gone from prospects.
Two major league players, right? I and I agree.
And so here's another point that they point out, or a point that they make that I should point out to you.
Um, since taking over general Manager Brodie bandwagon, it has traded away a number of prospects that includes three first round picks and Justin Done, Anthony Kaye and Jared Kelly. Nic.
In addition to this trio, Simeon Woods Richardson is another prospect who has appeared on the top 100 prospect rankings list.
It's frustrating, bro.
It's frustrating, Young.
I mean, So what do we do? What do we do? We legit having dilemma? You know what I mean? Legit have a dilemma where we have needs on the roster.
Um, the farm system does not have a prospect that we can plug in right now.
Um, the guys we have are a season or two away, and then we have a logjam at positions of strength.
Like a shortstop.
We have three guys that can play shortstop.
You know, Do you move them around the infield like you move them? You know, do you have GMO stick at second? Your may stick at second? Um, do you have him in a stick at second? Do you move, um, Ahmad Rosario off of short because of defense and move him in after short and have Guillermo play second and then maybe move.
Um, Rosario toe left.
You know, we try him in center.
We tried them already. Man, that's not his thing.
It's not his thing, man.
Just because you're an athlete, that means you could do it, you know, um, do you trade amid Rosario? I'm not a fan of that option.
I prefer I prefer to keep him the because we're not winning anyway.
You know, I don't think a mad Rosario is the major source of our issues.
I think a man Rosario is is a nice piece that if we're patient with them, he could develop into a guy like Like how we were patient with Don Smith, you know? And I know no Mets fans are not patient because we were patient with Travis d'Arnaud and that wind up backfiring Fourth, you know, I mean, we didn't get to the World Series, though with d'Arnaud, you know what I mean? But if you look at at the deeper issue, um, we actually traded and think about this.
We actually traded a veteran Cy Young winner R a ****ey for Travis d'Arnaud with the throwing being Noah Syndergaard right from Toronto and they wind up that I'm not saying that specific trade, but being in that mindset got us to to get into the world's areas.
You know, taking taking somebody at peak value, trading them for prospects.
The prospects developed, and we wind up getting to the World Series.
And I know what you're saying.
You're thinking like, Oh, my gosh, Uncle Freezing.
Are you saying we should trade Jacob the ground? No, that's not what I'm saying.
I'm actually, um, handing at the complete opposite.
I think you should I think he should put, um Jake.
Uh um Pete, um possibly dumb, maybe, um, Conforto and to untouchable space.
And then and then feel offers for everyone else.
That's what I'm saying.
Yeah, Yeah, that's what I'm That's what I'm saying.
I would say, um, you know, to find a core basically of your of your mets and then try to build, try to build around them and and the ones I mentioned, most of them have postseason experience.
Maybe, except down, I think Don may have come up.
Um, you see, 2000 19 18 10.
I think Don came up two years after we made the World Series, right? But But I would strongly consider, like, at least do want to either go for it or don't don't be that team that's, like in and go forward mode.
But you can't go for it the part, but doesn't have the parts to go for it with you know what I mean? Either go forward or don't.
I'm in the mindset where where If you're not gonna go for it, say, if 2021 is a throwaway yet then I say trade away some contracts, pick up some, you know, rebuild your farm system and go forward in 2022.
That's when there will be back. Anyway.
Is there a free agent this summer? I think there is a free agent this summer, right? Yeah.
I think the I think there may be a free agent, but but so Door is a free agent.
I'm thinking, you know, why not just retool for 2022 Not saying not saying I don't feel the competitive team.
That's not what I'm offering when I'm offering is is, um, retool like, like, have a target date and retool for that.
You know what I mean? Like, uh, you know why keep around guys like, um, Todd Frazier.
Like, what is Todd Fraser offer you offensively? Aside from from, you know, occasional power.
We know we know he has a powerful back, but he doesn't hit for average.
What's his defense look like at age 36 37 or whatever he is 36.
What's his defense look like? I know he's a clubhouse guy.
No, you need those type of guys in the clubhouse.
I know that, right? But, I mean, if you're able to acquire A You know what? Okay, so here's the thing.
Okay, so So shortstop is probably a strength of ours, right? Like I said, we have.
Amid Rosario Louise Gorman, G Army.
Whose second base shortstop and in under two minutes.
Whose shortstop? Second base.
Would you would you look to trade for a Francisco Lindor, or would you do? Would you do a Francis Colon door? I think we have one year left on his contract.
We have one of the bridges owners in sports.
Um hey, he's gonna break.
You already know what he's gonna bring to your team? A classy guy.
Excellent defense, rock steady offense.
Um, all star level, you know? But I guess I guess you know what? What holds us back from even imagining Francisco indoor trade is do we have to give up Dom Smith of pedal on? So do we have to give up Andres a menace? Do we have to give up Louise? Um A or a med Rosario, Do we have to give up Brandon Nimmo? Um you know, do we have to give up some of the rare pitching prospects that we have in an incident? Yes, your trade and you're legit.
Trading for entry.
Um, you know, all world defense.
Um, rock solid offense, you know? And I think he's a switch hitter.
It solves a lot of issues.
It solves a lot of problems.
I mean, solve a lot of problems.
I mean, you could legit go trade with Cleveland for Francisco.
Um, the door, Um, I think what happened? I think what's gonna happen is Cleveland's probably I'm gonna re found him, But if you're a bet, if you're the myth, you think you have to kick your tires, kick the tires on that, right? Because even if you do, even if you do it makes room for Francisco Indoor, Geoff McNeill and your starting lineup, right? Right.
And either Peter Lanzo or Don Smith to Cleveland.
Um, you know, it gets one of those kids playing time.
Um, I don't wanna trade either.
Pete is like the infusion of energy organizations need.
He had 50 something home runs, 50 home runs, or so last year.
Not so lucky in a shortened season.
Um, this year has his approach to the plate has been different.
He's not recognizing certain pitches the way he should.
You know, it happens with power hitters, man.
You know, it happens with power hitters.
They're going to go through there.
I mean, I hate to say it, but look what? Look at Mark McGwire and his first few years in the league.
Um, my man was legit, you know? Ultra powerful, right? So what does that do for the Mets infield, though? Um, the Mets in field.
So that gives you.
So if you do the deal, say they say they take down Smith, they take understand minutes.
They take, um, Ed Rosario and Brandon Nimmo.
It's a lot, right? That's a lot, but they get, but they legit.
We legit get Cleveland Very young, everyday players for a guy that's going to be a free agent in the year.
Is that too much? Is that too much? I feel like it's too much, but we're trying to get their guy.
They're not trying to push them on us.
So what do we do with our pitching issues? I know what you're going to say.
Sign Trevor Bauer.
Bauer, though fit New York.
Is he going to get here? Hey, what's up, Art? It's Trevor Bauer.
We're going to get here and legit become Matt Harvey.
It's travel about going to get here.
And with this personality, is he going to get get, come to New York and become what? Matt Harvey waas on his way out the door.
And in hindsight, in hindsight, we probably could have handled the Matt Harvey situation a little bit better.
You know, the Washington Nationals had their guy.
But you know, the dog, the door is always open.
I gotta get up early to man.
So Yeah, but the door is always open. You know that.
Um, So, um, this Trevor Bauer come get in, get hit and become Matt Harvey two point.
Oh, um, do you need that with an organization that's in that in a fragile state? Like we all like with changing ownership? Um, high expectations, not meeting them, pitching, failing us.
Um, you know, a lot of pictures hurt.
Um, a lot of people won't be back.
You know, it's one of those is one of those deals where you know what do we do, right? You know, What do we do? So the perfect situation, in my opinion, is this Signed J T Realmuto Signed Travel Bauer Trade for Francisco Indoor San George Springer, right? And so And so what you'll say is, man, that's a lot of money.
You know what? When's the last time we spent a lot of money? When's the last time they met? Spent money? Big money? When's the last time the Mets won the off season? And I know you're gonna say, Well, teams that usually when the offseason blah, blah, blah, blah, blah.
I know I know this, but listen, what I'm saying is is our organization needs to be replenished.
The talent we need. A talent infusion.
No doubt we need a talent infusion with the Mets.
Um, start saying, Catcher, um, the pitching staff.
You know, we had some surprises.
A couple players step up, but we also had more than a few pictures disappoint.
Um, like I can't figure out what's going on with Jared's. Familiar.
It was like the second year in a row.
I just can't figure out what's going on with with familiar.
I just don't get it so I think way probably need to either trade for young pitching prospects or or sign veterans in free agency.
They don't even have to be young.
They can be just veteran guys professionals.
We just need some professionals to come in to buy time until our young pitching in the minors, um can develop kind of like, um, when we had Jon Niese, um, Oliver Perez and, um Dillon.
Gee, you'll forget about Dylan G, right? I think.
Yeah, I think you are really, really forget about Dylan G.
But, um, those guys ate up a lot of innings for us while our kids Syndergaard the graham mats.
Um, was it luego maybe luego or What was it, Luca? I can't remember.
But anyway, they ate up a lot of innings while our young pitching, um, developed and and low pressure situations.
So then when the pressure came when the pressure came, my guys were ready, you know? And I keep forgetting to throw in.
So let me do this one more time.
So the ground Syndergaard mats, Matt Harvey and Zack Wila.
Well, this is the five pictures I want to refer to, right all the time.
So when I say the young group of pictures, that's the group that I'm referring to.
So those guys had town to developed behind veterans, and then when it came their time to shine, they were ready, you know? Well, I think we all thought Matt Harvey was gonna probably be the best out of that group.
But I think the injury, I think the injuries probably caught him and, you know, probably caught up to him a little bit quicker than we anticipated, you know? And then plus, there's a level of commitment that you have to have to be a major league pitcher, and I don't know if he actually had that.
So can we put a pitching staff like that together now? Possibly.
Y'all know, Sandy Alderson should be back with Sandy Alderson back.
I think we could probably we could probably do that.
So I'm gonna jump on, I'm gonna do some nick stuff and, like, 5 to 10 minutes, and then I'm gonna go over and jump on with Sim because Simmons doing the front stoop tonight. I just wanted to go.
I hadn't hollered that y'all in a while I miss you all been a minute.
So anyway, eso with the next.
So there's a lot of stuff going around.
A lot of trade talk.
Atlanta want to trade? Washington may want to trade, um, everybody throwing out smoke screens.
So we have about three weeks or so to the MBA draft.
I'm going to say this, and I know you all are gonna laugh.
Just just just hear me out.
I would be okay with the Knicks.
Trading for point guard, right? If we trade for Russell Westbrook.
Okay, way Get him.
I'll probably by Westbrook Jersey.
You know me If we trade for Chris Paul? Yeah, I'm probably gonna by Chris Paul Jersey.
But I root for him.
I'll play the hell out of some two Kay with him, right? Who I am fascinated with.
And I know you all may laugh, but, I mean, you're just gonna have toe just hit me out on it.
Who? I would be okay with the next trading trading for the Aaron Fox, I could say, Oh, no freezing.
They'll never trade Aaron Fox.
Nobody will ever trade such and such.
And so that person is doing a press conference in another city.
So I would trade for the Aaron Fox.
And and so you're probably asking, like, what would you trade for the Aaron Fox uncle Freezing? What would you What would you legit trade for the air in five? Um, whatever.
Except aren't a barrett whatever except R. J. Barrett.
Mitchell Robinson, would you trade the A pick? I would prefer to swap eight the eight in their pick.
But if they have to have it, then so be it.
What do you need? Is, what do we need to do if if we're the next organization? I'm not for sure, but I watched Guillermo and and send a few minutes ago.
And, man, those who was a great man.
That was my guys.
That was my guys. Check them out for one to me.
Sam on the front stoop.
Check out Sam on Big Brother.
Little brother, check out Sim on Nothing but next.
I kind of get on and contribute to all.
Sometimes it depends.
My work schedule is crazy, but that's my guy.
Sending my brother, man, I love that dude.
Man, You'll make sure y'all support Simeon? Um, shout out to Thio Legion, Knicks podcast.
Um, that's my guy.
He just jumped on Twitter with us.
Dude, it's crazy.
It's a It's a flesh pooling.
There is a cess pool, um, in their, um, you know, But anyways, anyways, um, yeah, check out, check out all the next contributors.
Really? But so what did the Knicks need to do? Um, the rumor was that the Knicks are looking to take on the bad contract for young assets and draft pick.
It's the move that we should have did a soon as we did the person get still as soon as the part singers deal.
Clearing up cap space is what we should have been doing because we we basically are not gonna be able to to attract the free agent here in our current climate.
Once that climate change is, um, free agents may may start to trickle in in the door, but right now, you know, we're not looking in the you know, free agents are looking to come here.
So what free agency you could probably be looking for? Um I don't care.
I mean, not created. I'm sorry.
That contract I don't care.
I don't care if there are 12 or three years that as long as we get equal that equal or more value in return.
And I mean legit, equal or more value.
Like if the Sixers want to get rid of Al Horford.
If they give us a Matisse table, Um, and two first round picks done.
So I think Matisse table is a gym.
No, I think he's I think he's a gym.
I think he's exactly what we want Frank to be.
I mean, I understand who Frank Kena is right now.
He is exactly who we want.
We envisioned frankly, Latino right now, being as an NBA player.
Not when Frank was drafted.
We thought it was gonna be a point guard, but whatever.
So I would do that. Al Horford.
Yes, I would take on all those years to former T Stable and two first round picks.
Three first round picks will be my preference.
Three first round picks will be my preference, right? There are other bad contracts out there. There are other. There.
There, there are other bad contracts out.
Then there are and I would trade form if teams are willing to give me four assets.
I prefer, um, I prefer excuse me, all draft picks, you know, or or ah, young player and three draft picks.
Right when I take on who's got a bad Eric Bledsoe.
Yes, I would take on Eric Bledsoe.
So the bucks could could, um, trade for Chris Paul.
Yes, I would do that.
I will take on Eric Bledsoe's contract and, um um, DiVincenzo and two first round picks.
And if they think that's too much, they can hang up the phone and just continue knocking your head against the wall, right? No, it sounds bad, but it's the comment that we live in, you know, it's a common that we live in.
So the other thing I would say I'm gonna say this, and then I'm gonna jump off.
****ing go jump on with sin that he's got some stuff going on, man, make sure you check out on the front, stoop on YouTube and check out my my YouTube channel orange.
I'm sorry, Orange Lawrence test.
So I have some videos posted, man.
I'm gonna do some more.
I'm working on the r J.
Barrett. Kevin, not video.
Tonight so make sure you keep an eye out for that.
But the last thing I'm going to say is is this If I'm the Knicks, do I trade eight to the Boston Celtics for 14? 26 30? Yes.
Why? Why would you do it if you're the Celtics? Hey, man, y'all wanna Congolese? So what? This is the price you gotta pay, right? And if you're the And if you're the next, why would you trade? Why would you trade? Um eight.
Trade down six spots just to pick up two picks and in the empty draft? Because the draft is not empty from pick five through picks five through 40 is basically your Baskin Robbins.
And and you know you're going to get ice cream.
