What's going on? Everybody and I'm back rare out here with you on this Monday, October the 26th, as we just roll along here through Week seven of the NFL season, Um, and I look I am going to give my thoughts on yesterday's game.
I got to get into that, but I got some other stuff I gotta I gotta talk about first.
You know, as most of you all know, I've been, you know, I don't know if you noticed Corner, and I've been teasing some stuff out on Twitter or whatever.
And, you know, I want to thank honor for keeping this all confidential until today, and I want to thank Connor for the last six months, man, Um, it's been an absolute blast.
We've had a lot of, you know, we've had a lot of good times together over the last six months, and it just really weird how the two of us got together and you know, So last Thursday, when Carter and I woke up, we really we thought that life, you know, e guess we thought life was gonna be normal, you know? And we would go on with our regular Tuesday and Thursday show for, you know, a long as we felt like doing it.
And then, like, an hour and a half before we came live on Thursday.
And we none of you really knew what was coming.
We had a new deal put in front of us, and we knew that was coming.
We knew that that was a thing.
Um, and we didn't like it and we we chatted about it and we talked about it and we went back to our our, you know, people here on SportsCastr and we went back and forth.
And while we're presented with a new offering new contracts on Friday and well, I mean, this is the truth as of 7 p.
On Saturday. Connor, it's still not signed the contract.
And I don't know, we're going back and forth about some things and made some decisions and got back to SportsCastr, and we went back and forth on some stuff.
And, you know, I started dear Patch Nation in 2017 all by myself over on YouTube.
I came over to SportsCastr.
They turned from dear past nation to DPM sports talk, and it's been an absolute blast.
I've had so much fun doing this.
Um, And then again, the addition to corner uh was great as well.
I didn't think this would be.
Ladies and gentlemen, this will be the final DPMNE sports talk ever on sports talk on SportsCastr because starting today Monday through Thursday at 9 p.m.
Eastern Time Central A SportsCastr feature podcast featuring Ray Route and Carter Carney called DPM.
We'll be coming live to the airwaves.
Yeah, Toronto's Pride and Joy Ray route has teamed up with Boston heartthrob Connor Carney to bring you d. P n commentary.
A SportsCastr featured podcast.
Bill Belichick band boys talking about the greatest team in NFL history.
Live on SportsCastr at 9 p.m. Eastern.
And now for the thousands of attendants and Patriots fans from all over the world.
Ah, podcast that Nobody asked for its DPM commentary with Ray and Connor and we are back.
What's going on? Connor? Connie, that was awesome.
Uh, we're getting comments in there.
Uh, to me, it's as if I can't really figure out exactly what everybody's thing rhinos, that he didn't believe a word of the set up.
You tried to get us all like before.
I kept you were laughing, so I kept smiling and I was sitting there.
I was trying not to look at you going like, oh, my God.
But dude, man, here we go.
We got the deal done Monday through Thursday.
No more DPM sports sock.
No more kicking it no more.
Me and Joe either.
Big shout out to my boy Joe.
It's just gonna be you and I have four days a week, brother.
I'm looking forward to it, man.
How excited are you, Pump? I'm pumped.
I like the new schedule.
Monday through Thursday is perfect too. I love it.
It is. It's a great schedule.
And so yeah, I don't know eso Summers is saying that he thought that I was leaving and probably you as well.
Um, the chicken says, What's he saying? Chicken says he was gonna take over for us.
Dude, let me on.
Open up on snap.
Not exactly sure what that means, but yes, some people believe that some people didn't man.
And but we're here.
So look, bro, it's I'm so excited, dude.
Like and I meant it when I said the last six months has been great.
And I'm so happy that we got to this point where, like I look, I'm going to say I don't even care like we gave SportsCastr no choice.
They were like, Hey, here is gonna be the schedule going forward.
Here's your new deal.
Here's what we want from you.
And we were like, Well, we don't really like that.
And, you know, um, no, we're not gonna go with that.
We wanna be together.
We wanna be Monday to Thursday.
I talked to you.
I mean, we had that meeting on.
We knew something was coming because we haven't had a meeting the weekend before.
Then we met on Tuesday with a lot of meetings last week.
You know, way had a bunch of meetings, and all of a sudden it was like, you know, here's the deal.
And then maybe Friday became a reality.
You actually hadn't signed the contract as a seven o'clock Saturday.
I was telling the truth on that one.
But contract is signed.
Sealed, delivered, Man, here we are.
Monday through Thursday way should help more of us.
They well, they actually get to see the same amount.
We should tell everybody that they're only going to be 30 minute the 40 minute shows.
They're not gonna be the full hour, but it gives us an opportunity to to discuss different topics, right? And and not like, you know, because we kind of rush things through.
We could spend more time on one topic where we kind of rushed through some things on on on on our show, because we're trying to, you know, we don't We only see each other twice a week, So we're trying to get through everything, and I think that we'd still like to do some postgame stuff is Well, we purposely left the post game.
I'm excited to rebrand my Twitter page again with our cartoon faces and all that kind of stuff.
But I have failed.
I had to re change it.
I even wrote former host of DPM Sports talk on my twitter page.
It looks like we got some people.
But Rhino, you know what? Rhino was tweeting at us today, and, uh, he knew he knew God's summers.
But, uh, and Ryan was excited that I'm not talking about soccer anymore.
E thought they like soccer over there in Australia.
Yeah, I think the cricket players and rugby players over there, they do have something.
They do have a soccer team, but it is what it is.
All right, Connor But it's now time to do the old switcheroo.
E j is gonna get everyone just to get **** chickens all in a tizzy.
But should we start with the poll of the day? We dio pull the day, man.
All right, so one of the new features on this show is gonna be a swell Is Monday through Thursday? We're gonna put a poll out.
We're gonna ask everybody to respond to it, and then we're gonna go through that poll, discuss the results, Uh, maybe pull up a few of the comments if they make sense.
So, Connor, let's start here, and I will.
I've got it up and running and ready to go.
So the poll of the day Waas, Who do you blame for the Patriots loss? And we gave the options of a team loss Cam Newton, Bill Belichick or something else entirely.
And 65 so far, 104 votes.
They're still 14 hours left in the There's still 14 hours left in the poll.
I'm gonna learn for the next time not to make it that long.
4% of people are calling this a team loss and I'm happy that some cooler heads prevailed because I think yesterday was a complete team loss in that disaster.
What do you think? I completely agreement honestly, It right out from the very first to drive where they couldn't stop him on third down, they couldn't get off the field.
They let Jimmy G walk all over him.
I could just how? It wasn't gonna be good.
The defense played awful.
Um, the offense obviously was terrible.
And and then Jared Stidham came in and threw a pick.
No one did anything.
They were just flat.
They showed no emotion.
They played with no heart.
It was a total team lost.
There was a bust all around.
Coaching players, everyone.
It was an absolute just It was a **** show yesterday.
Let's call it what it is, right.
Um and, you know, the whole thing is so Cam Newton got 17.
3% of the votes.
So that means that over 17 people voted for Cam Newton.
Uh, no, I didn't do math property.
17 people voted for Cam Newton.
Um, and I was surprised.
I thought it would have been a little bit higher.
I thought it would have been in the 25 percentile based on what Twitter's reaction was last night.
But But, I mean, I think you're absolutely right.
This whole team played like trash.
Let's remember that San Francisco 40 Niners came down and scored on their first possession of the game before Cam Newton even touch the football.
So let's not pretend like they got some big three and outs and you know, Then the offense came in and went to bed.
The whole team went to bed.
This is the same defense that allowed the Denver Broncos to score on their first six possessions the week before.
Yeah, they were Onley field goals.
But guess what? You're playing Jimmy Garoppolo tonight, not, um, Drew lock.
So you're gonna have those kind of, you know, these results are gonna be better.
And I mean, the San Francisco team is good.
I'm not taking anything away from them.
I don't think that we should be putting disrespect on the San Francisco loss or San Francisco win because the Patriots are bad.
But the Patriots played awful.
5% of people blamed Bill Belichick.
And I think at the end of the day, Bill Belichick, the head coach, he's a general manager.
Direct accountability has to lie on him.
There's something about this team, though, that's not coming together.
And I want to throw this at you because, look, this team is not stock full of talent.
You know they're not great a talent across the board, but they're not as bad as their plane.
And I want to read this, comments you and get your opinion on it because 5.
8% of people said that it was something else entirely.
E I wanna know where their heads that with that one, it's been, I don't know.
It was either can do and the whole team or Bill Belichick.
It was all over the place, But I want to read at Hunter Banks comment. It says quote.
I feel like after the co vid things, the team has been kind of just going through the motions.
When I watch it personally, don't see a football team that has any interest in winning.
Obviously I don't know how they feel, but that's just what I see.
With a lack of quality tackling an offense, and I think that it's fair to say Now look, look, look, listen, no excuses for that loss.
You had pretty much a normal week.
Um, you know, I gave you the past on the Denver game.
But I think it's true to say that since Cam Newton has tested positive for co vid 19 going back to that Kansas City Chiefs game, we have not seen the same Patriots team, right? Absolutely.
And it's been the whole team because the defense actually has played pretty decent in some of these games.
I thought they looked good against the Raiders.
I thought they looked good against Miami.
Um, and now they look even worse or just as bad as the offense all of a sudden.
And the past two games is the worst.
I've seen the Patriots playing a long, long time on both sides of the football, and they're just being out coached as well.
It's just the whole team is in disarray like I've never seen now, are they being out coached or they just don't have the talent to keep up that that's actually a good point.
It's hard to say because they really just don't have much talent on, well, they have some talent on the defensive side of the ball, but on the offensive side of the ball, it's just bare bones.
Right now, it's It's really starting to show.
Yeah, it really is, Uh, and I'm wondering if the game against Miami in the game against the Raiders and even the game against the Chiefs, because the Chiefs were kind of a weird position as well, and they played very conservative that game.
I think that's fair to say.
And I wonder if the results of the defense that game gave us a sense.
Ah, false hope of what this Patriots defense really was, because I want to remind them This is the same Patriots defense that got blown out by Russell Wilson.
And it was the offense that kept pace and kept that game competitive.
But, I mean, it's the fun.
Gilmore got torched by D. K.
Metcalf all game, all game, and that's your best corner.
I mean, they were all over the New England Patriots.
Then they played the Raiders, you know, and they play really well.
Then they play the Chiefs again, who played super conservative that game and then they looked awful awful.
Against Denver, the defense looked awful.
I know people are like, Well, they only scored 18 points.
They just let them score on the first six possessions of the game.
And what happened was you do that same exact thing against San Francisco when they put up 150 points on you.
I mean, I was looking at the second half the first half stats and the San Francisco at 301 yards of offense in the first half.
Yeah, I saw that statistic on Twitter, which is just absurd to think about.
That means that they were on pace to toe, have 600 yards, which is just a joke.
I mean that the defense has really gone down, and my big issue with the defense lately is it's happened in both of the past two games.
They can't get off the field, including third and Longs.
I think we saw yesterday a 3rd and 11 a 3rd and 12 1st Denver.
I know we saw a 3rd and 21.
How do you not get off the field on these third and really long place? You just have to get off the field, but its third and seven plus, you can't.
You can't give up that type of that type of yardage and expect to win.
It's not even third and long plays.
I mean, we're talking a situation where it's 2nd and 20 and San Francisco is converting first downs.
They're not picking up chunks of yards.
They're converting first downs and getting 10 yards on it.
They're talking 30 yard plays.
I mean, it was it was crazy, But I don't want to just put this game on the defense, because, look, listen, Cam Newton was awful yesterday.
I'm not putting camp.
Taking Cam Newton off the Cam Newton was awful.
His reads were awful, but at the same time, to away from just and I'm not. No excuses.
Can the receiving corps get open? Can anybody find separation? You know who actually found separation yesterday in the keel, Harry.
And then he got hurt.
And then he got hurt.
And then Jacoby Meyers came out, and actually I mean, what they had to 20 yard plays.
I no one got, I think three in total, but one got the gated by Ah, holding penalty at some point.
But I mean, I'm hoping that we're going to see more Jacoby Meyers.
Julie Like Like what is wrong with Julian Edelman? Julian, I don't know.
At this point, I really don't know, man.
He's just non existent.
I don't know what's going on.
I mean, he had, what, one catch for 13 yards? I think it was yesterday, The week before, two catches for eight yards.
I I mean, I don't know what to do with the guy.
It's like he's invisible and I'm looking at the comments and people are like and they're saying, You know, like, well, the chief, you know, they held the Chiefs of 13 points and I get that.
But we also understand that she's played conservative that game.
This is a defense that's got blown out to three teams now.
Denver, Seattle and San Francisco.
Some story had a six games.
They've had three really bad games, and you know what? They weren't great until the second half or near the end of the second half against Las Vegas and let them score it down on the corner.
It's really the offense who came alive in the next half.
So no, the whole team is playing awful.
They can't stop the run.
We can't turn around and say They've been playing great when every team has put 100 yards of Russian on them arm or like there's a lot wrong with this team.
The receivers Aaron issue You get Dalton keen in the game.
What does he do? Nothing.
Ryan ISO is invisible out there.
You might as well play deben asi asi because it would have been just as effective.
Julian Edelman can't get open uh, the offensive line.
Joe Tooni goes down like you can't even catch a break on that offensive line.
And it's just, you know, it's at the point now where it's this is just a really, really bad team, and I don't want you to answer this, but the poll tomorrow is gonna be should the Patriots be buyers or sellers and we'll get everybody's opinion. Weaken.
Break that down tomorrow at 9 p.m.
But it's bad, man.
And and you know, somebody's blaming Josh McDaniels.
I don't know how you blame Josh McDaniels for that game like he has no help out there.
That poor guy, I mean I know people love to get on Josh McDaniels and say How bad of a game he calls.
What do you want him to dio? He He has nobody to go to.
He could drop the best player in the world.
If these guys can't get any separation, no one can get opened that there's no they're not going to succeed.
Patrick Mahomes would look just a little bit better than Cam Newton with this offense right now.
Yeah, they look a little bit better.
Tom Brady would look a little bit better because can be playing awful to I can't You can't let Cam Newton off the hook.
I mean, he needs.
He's holding onto the ball way too long.
Whatever is going on with new, and he needs to get out of his head.
And I wonder, you know, I was talking about it, someone on Twitter and and maybe there's no physical residual effects of Kobe 19.
But I'm wondering there's a mental residual effect of Kobe 19 in his head right now.
Maybe there's there's gotta be something that za holding him back because a week to wasn't that long ago.
And remember what we saw him in Week two.
What happens between Week two and Week five? Because there's this.
Even the same person.
Yeah, no, I agree.
I don't even know.
I don't even know what to say anymore.
Um, it's it's ridiculous, but at the same point, I can't put the game just on Cam Newton.
The whole team played the last two games.
The whole team has played awful like Let's let's just put that for And Jared Stidham came in yesterday, and look just is awful.
Is Cam Newton? I mean, it's It's he did.
He doesn't look like he's the answer yet, if ever.
And And that leaves a lot of questions, man, that leaves a lot of questions of where does the quarterback situation lie? And I think at some point this week, and maybe a poll question, maybe maybe we change.
It may be just the poll question tomorrow.
I just don't wanna lose the buyers or sellers thing before Belichick does something, but maybe we'll make it Wednesday or Thursday.
You know how much faith do Patriots fans have in Cam Newton this season? You know, going forward with Cam Newton, Love to see.

I'm wearing their comfortable under I love man scape dot com, and it's not just cause they're sponsors.
I mean, I learned about their products because they became partners of ours But now that they are, I am so grateful for that company, right? Absolutely.
It's nice when we can partner up with somebody who has a really nice product as well.
It doesn't screw us.
Yeah, that's that's always good as well.
We'll leave that for another day.
For now. Fanatics.
Com anyways, So we've said before that we thought this two games was one of the biggest stretches of the season.
We thought, you know, this game was pretty much it must win.
And now, if the 40 Niners game wasn't a must win, the Bills game certainly is.
If the Patriots are to lose to the Bills again, and to drop all the way down to two and five at one point, you start preparing for next season and just call this season of rap.
Yeah, and I want to get in depth on this tomorrow because it's gonna be a part of that poll, right? But I think it's a good question.
It's a buyer seller.
Thing is, well, it is, and that's it.
I mean, this is the difference between buyers and sellers and and some of the names I think that could be on the cell list might shock some people.
But, I mean, look, is 11 and five good enough to make the playoffs? Probably because here's the position the Patriots air now in.
They have enough room to lose one more game this season.
Yeah, and 11 and five is gonna be tight.
11 and five playoffs.
But like the Steelers are six.
And oh, the Titans Air five and won the Ravens.
Or what? Five and one by one.
The Chiefs Air five and one.
The Colts or what? Four.
And to, um, the Browns Air five and five and two, right? I mean, there's teams out there with bit, so that's 677 teams make the playoffs and then the Buffalo Bills.
They're winning the A F C East right now, no matter which way you swing it, if everything goes the same pace that's going, the Patriots don't make the playoffs.
So they're in this tough bubble of do you go all out and two losses down the road kill you because of a slow start.
And I think that's where we get into our we buyers or sellers and I mean look and I think the first decision has to be made is where I think that Belichick has to make is what is Cam Newton to us? E.
That was My next question is, you know? Well, first, I e.
Hope the Patriots come out and win this week.
We got a win and get back on the right track. Eventually.
If they don't, we really have to start worrying about next season.
And even if they do, they have dug themselves quite a hole.
But we also have to think, What's Bill Belichick's mental, you know, plan going forward at the quarterback position? Because if he decides Cam Newton is not the guy going forward, what should he be doing for the rest of the season? Well, first of all, you need to stop predicting victories on Twitter because every time you do it, some massive blowout number two I mean, you have the Red Sox going like 700 on the year, and that blew up in your face very overly optimistic over here.
And the Patriots need to stop winning coin toss because they're now one and four while winning the coin toss, which is so it's on the bench.
Matthew Slater from the coin toss? Um, no.
I mean, this is This is the predicament you're in now because you could actually think about trading Cam Newton right now.
Maybe to a team like Washington who is in the running to make a playoff spot in that weekend.
Uh, the Patriots life gets much more difficult to attack.
A Viola gets the start for Miami next week.
You know, if he if he is, who we all think he is, they're probably gonna bust off some winning streak.
And the Patriots gotta play them at some point.
Got to play the Buffalo Bills twice.
I mean, I think the Patriots, November 3rd, is a trade deadline so they can play one more game without making a move.
And I think it's not even just based on results based on performance.
If Cam Newton comes out and he shakes out of whatever it is, they've got a great performance against Buffalo and you turn around and say, That's not Cam Newton's fault.
Then I think you know, Belichick could maybe make the decision of Okay, let's take a risk here and keep him for the rest of the season, and if he continues this play, we consign him long term.
If he wets the bed again, he's not gonna have much draft value.
But there would be a team, maybe like Washington out there, who would give up a third round pick or something for him to try to.
You know, give him another, you know, take a rider and another shot and and go on it from there.
And then on November 15th, fanatics dot com can send me my Cam Newton jersey, and it will be absolutely worthless.
It'll go in the closet with my Cam Newton's, and you know everything else, and I think it will be authentic.
It will be an old that will be.
It was kind of a throwback.
It'll be a vintage Cam Newton.
Okay, um, that's the thing.
And and look, I think for me personally, it's I want Cam Newton to succeed so badly.
Not just for the health of the Patriots, but I just generally like Cam Newton.
I like him as a person.
I've never been somebody who doesn't like him. I love his passion.
Um, I think Jeff Garcia is a ******bag for calling him out by what he's wearing to the game, saying he's showing up in slippers and athletics like, first of all, General, who were you? You played in the CFL and made a little bit of a run in the NFL.
Like who the hell are you to talk about anybody? It's amazing that people like like him and Trent Dilfer and all of them are like these ****ysts for these big networks like they were.
And Trent Dilfer wanted a Super Bowl despite him.
So I don't want to hear that he's a Super Bowl, you know? Quarterback, Right? That was the awesome defense back in 2000, right? That WAAS.
I mean, that's like That's like taking Blake Bortles opinion serious, right? But yeah, like so.
I want Cam to succeed because I want him to be a part of the Patriots, not just cause I bought the dress because I like Cam New, and I think mentally I thought he was great for this team when he talks about it.
But I want Cam from three weeks ago.
I don't want came from the last two weeks, who looks depleted, and that's I think, where I'm at with that right now, right? So I think this game is going to be a huge one way or the other.
If they win, they might kind of be back on track because that'll put them to what, three and three and 43 and five, and that will knock the Bills down a game, and then they still get to play the Bills again.
So they're not totally out of it.
If they lose, they would essentially have to go.
What, undefeated the rest of the season to even have a chance? Yeah, if they lose tomorrow or next Sunday, they have to go undefeated toe.
Have an outside chance of making the playoffs.
Assuming one of those teams that we talked about drops off right, Right, I I don't like their chances, but then what are we gonna dio? Is Jared Stidham the guy This and this is where the concern comes in.
And But if they win, say, they look really impressive and they beat Buffalo.
The Patriots air set up pretty well for 2021 and you know what? Let's just talk about is already ruined tomorrow's poll.
So let's just talk about it right.
We're already set up for 2021.
They're set up salary cap wise.
I mean, they're gonna have one of the I think they're in the third most salary cap in the NFL so they could resign.
Guys like Joe Tune, E J.
Jackson can stay on the team, and I have to be chased out the door.
How much do you wanna waste in draft capital going in? They have a young court.
Here's my whole thing.
You have a young core in New England you have on the defense chase.
One of its J. C. Jackson.
You know, you have those guys to build around on that defense.
Maybe Joshua, You got Kyle Duggar.
You know, young guys that you could build around on the offensive side.
I mean, Damian Harris can play football, right? I mean, can we admit that Damon Harris is a good running backs? You have Damian Harris, You have Joe Tooni.
David Andrews, right? Isaiah Win.
Who I know hasn't played great the last couple of games.
But I believe in Isaiah.
When you have Isaiah win now you've got a young nucleus to build.
There So if you become a buyer, you've got to give up draft capital.
Yes, you have money in free agency.
But how much draft capital do you want to give up? When? 2021.
You can be right back in the mix because here's the thing that the Patriots don't make the playoffs and do make the playoffs.
It can be the difference between, like, a top 10 Top 15 pick to a bottom 20 pick.
Right? That changes things, and it comes down to Do you believe in Cam Newton? Do you not believe in Cam Newton? Is Jarrett Stidham the guy do you try to trade up to? If the Giants end up with the first or second pick for one of those quarterbacks, they don't need a quarterback.
They believe in Daniel Jones.
Do you take a make a move and try to trade up to Daniel, You know, with the Giants and get a quarterback? Um, do you or do you trade for Daniel Jones? If they decide they're gonna go with one of those guys, why not try to take a flyer right now on a Josh Rosen? I mean, what do you have to lose at this point because as far as I'm concerned, Jared Stidham is not the guy what I've seen from him, he's not developed into.
He was supposed to be the starter this year.
He's nowhere close to being starter material.
If he if he was the starter, I honestly don't know if they would have won a game yet.
Well, im maybe Miami, Miami, maybe Vegas, maybe maybe Denver, depending on you know, co vid eso I mean again.
And I'm not trying to make excuses.
But I think if Kobe doesn't hit, it's a much.
It's a much different results as well, definitely up, because that was just a back breaker there in Denver.
They should have definitely beat the Broncos, even with as awful as they played.
It still came right down to the wire at the very end, and they were on almost no practice, and maybe that just it took the wind out of their sails.
Maybe that's what it waas.
Yeah, or maybe San Francisco is just a good team.
And maybe there and here's the thing.
Maybe they're just that much better than the New England Patriots.
And let's and that brings us to this.
This Patriots team is more than one piece away.
That's very true.
This defense can't stop the run.
They can't tackle that. No, they can't.
And the Patriots could have had a three and out on the opening drive of the game.
Which one Bentley couldn't open field tackle Jimmy Garoppolo.
That was That was just the start of it all.
And then there was just a backbreaker after that.
Both interceptions were not great defensive plays.
McCarty's interception was a bad overthrow by Garoppolo, and the J.
C Jackson interception was just a Hail Mary at the end of the second half.
That was a jump ball.
Uh uh, Cam Newton's interceptions.
I mean, terrible reason.
I mean, the one was a great the shoe top interception was phenomenal.
Um, but the rest of their awful Jared Stidham was just It was another awful throat.
It was, you know, so So Newton had to really bad ones stood him, had a bad one.
I mean, should I have should I give Jared Stidham the same benefit of the doubt that I'm getting Cam Newton right now? I don't know.
What do you think? I mean, he hasn't done anything to prove otherwise to us.
I mean, we haven't seen all that much of him when you think about it collectively.
But even going back to last season, I think the first pass he threw was a pick six.
Then they took him out.
And so far, what we've seen this year when he's got in there, he has looked terrible and that a lot of the stuff is just these throws aren't even close.
Like the interception he threw yesterday.
I don't even know where that was going.
No, and that's the thing.
But I'll give him the same benefit for some of it.
I mean, the receivers air awful on this to receive the receivers.
They're one of the worst receiving course in the league right now, Unfortunately, But just like Cam Newton's throws yesterday, I was the same thing with with Jared Stidham.
What you just said, I'm sitting there going like what? Where were you throwing? What were you doing? What, like I don't understand what the hell was going through your head first time since Oh, gosh, I want to say 2000 and 13.
When the Patriots were getting blown out to the Houston Texans, and they came all the way back.
First time since that game.
I stopped watching a Patriots game before the end.
That was the first time in a long time, and as long as I could remember where I didn't watch all the way to the end, and it was about at the time where he threw that interception like I don't even wanna watch this anymore.
This is so painful to watch.
I think it was about Jared Simms interception to that.
I went out for a cigarette and I came inside and told my wife, You can change the channel like I'm just done.
I'm just writing with this game.
Um, yeah, I I turned that game off against the Texans and they came back and won, and I promised myself I would never, ever turn the game off ever again.
Um, very much like, I think, a lot of people I think a lot of Patriot fans did during Super Bowl 40.
51 you know, against the Atlanta.
But after that Houston game in 2013 I said never again.
Last night I had zero faith have come back at any point, work the way they just had no life to even talk yourself into the comeback.
They were just lifeless, and I think that's been the most disappointing is where was the fight? Where was the heart? Where was the want? And I think that's what comes down to.
Maybe this team just isn't good, and they're starting to realize it.
And, you know, if guys like Julian Edelman who are supposed to be, you know, inspirational leaders on this team don't wanna fight, Maybe it's time to go.
Jules, right? And I know people don't want to hear that.
I love Julian Edelman.
You know, I love Julian Edelman, named my freaking dog after Julian Edelman.
But maybe it's time to go, and I think we got to talk with our head here and another thing.
And I know and the only person on this team right now who's untouchable to me is Bill Belichick.
And I know people are watching Tom Brady and Tampa Bay right now, and I saw your tweets corner of your broken heart and I know people are watching that, and that was just the icing on the cake yesterday is, of course, after we watched that disaster, we also had toe watching the other channel that Brady was having a tremendous day.
Yeah, and I know that people are mad and that people wanna point to that.
And but Tom Brady and Bill Belichick in two very different situations right now on blankly, I'm sick of the Bill Belichick so bad GM narrative because it's that's BS is far as I'm concerned.
I don't know about you.
I mean, I could sit here and list every draft pick that's worked.
Every undrafted free agent, every trade he swung every, you know, free agent that people have fallen in love with in this, you know, on this team.
Um, dude, Patriot fans were spoiled, right? Um, I did live before the Tom Brady era.
Um, there's people who lived before the Drew Bledsoe era.
You know, I already came into a good situation with Drew Bledsoe and then got this, you know, 20 years of Tom Brady for the people who have never experienced this before.
We're going through what most football teams have gone through two or three times in the last 30 years, right? Um I believe in Belichick, though, that we could be like a Baltimore Ravens who, you know, needed one or two years of, uh, I think from 2014 till 2018 didn't make the playoffs.
And now look at them now, right? Um, I don't And I don't think the Patriots even wait four years.
This might be the only year, and I think by next year we could see ourselves right back in the playoffs.
I think you're right.
Sunday's game will tell us whether or not, um, whether or not whether or not we should have any hope going forward pretty much is how I'm looking at it.
I don't know how just for this season, I don't know how anybody has hope for this season.
I don't counter.
And I mean, look, the result yesterday is probably my pick on Thursday, I told you I thought San Francisco is gonna win.
I didn't think they were gonna win in this embarrassing fashion, right, But I thought they're gonna win.
The Patriots, unfortunately, just aren't good enough.
And once we you know, we've got, like, $30 million in dead cap right now, you know, we were paying $15 million to talk or 15 million dead cap on Tom Brady, who's playing in Tampa Bay once that we that gets all shed and and we're missing our best linebacker and Dont'a Hightower and there's a whole bunch of things.
And and you know what? Connor? 2020.
I want to see 2020.
It's sucked, but 20 twenties really worked out really well for you and I from a personal professional standpoint, but 20 twenties been a bad year.
It started with a wild card knock out with Tom Brady at the helm, and it just hasn't gotten better.
And I'm just wondering if we got a little bit of false hope.
Overly optimistic coming into this well, especially when they signed Cam Newton, especially when they signed Cam New.
And then especially when he came out the first few weeks looking phenomenal.
And then I thought we were bad.
I thought we were on. We were good.
We're good to go in the last three weeks.
They've kind of gotten exposed.
I can't disagree with you, man.
I mean, it's That's just where we're all right.
