um, game time is totally different than practice time.
Alright, from we're in a game where the issue like that.
The first thing that and I think it's just my personality also is I don't panic.
Um, you have a lot of coaches that that that do panic and go crazy and start e mean, that's just not my nature.
Right? And the reason is not my nature, because I want my players always know I'm a bit of control, and I'm gonna wanna talk through this issue and want to understand what, that we have this have blown coverage.
All right, for the most part, I would know why, but I want to hear from them.
But I think a lot of times when they can tell you and they can coach themselves and say, Okay, this is what I did wrong.
I think it's better learning for those guys.
All right? So even though the frustration was there, all right, you always got to try to talk through it.
You try to make sure those things don't happen again.
I think that's the most important thing.
Game time now we're in practice. Oh, yeah.
I could get on a little bit.
They understand that just can't happen, all right.
And, um and that's just how I operate as a coach, right game time.
And we're trying to make sure that the players are confident.
Um, want to make sure that that the communication is there.
Um, and I try to make sure that that happens or exile.
The most important thing on game they fall.
Player is confidence, right? You never want to kill a player's confidence by going crazy and doing things like that doing, um, a little game.
So I try to keep them lifted up because we still have a lot more game left, right? So I wanna make that that player has confidence.
Probable doing the game now, Coach Glen, uh, looking at Chauncey Gardner, Johnson City Do so.
I thought that was maybe one of his porous, porous halves of football in that first half particularly encouraged.
I talked about that sack that he missed, but it is.
It isn't his eyes at times, maybe he's speaking and trying to do too much, because I know coaches always tell players, just just do your **** job And don't worry about doing somebody else's job.
Does that come into play a lot about your eyes and making sure your eyes air right with your assignment? Well, I think that's one of the most important things that the defense the bag has to work on it.
There are discipline.
Um, for the most part, especially in pass coverage.
All right, because players wanna make plays so bad that they feel like sometimes they have to get a chance to peek at that quarterback.
And usually, once they peaked at that quarterback, their receiver uncovers from them.
Eso uh players have to really understand that, man.
If if I can keep my own my receive, I can close faster if everything is going in one direction or I can close faster.
So you don't need that peak. Alright.
Just makes you keep your eyes on that man and close to that man as you close to that man.
Alright, It helps you with two things.
Number one that helps you with the double move.
All right, so you won't get beat on double moves.
I'm a to it helps you either in close fastest.
Everything is going in one direction, all right.
And sometimes It's hard for players to believe that cause they want to take that look.
All right, But for the most part, I think doozy doozy does that for the most part.
All right, now, does he have to continue to work on it? Absolutely.
All right, I got continue to emphasize it, all right? But the thing is, there's some good players in this league, all right? There's gonna be some player is gonna make some plays on you, all right? But the most important thing is if I gotta make sure stop my guy from catching the ball, all right? And that's a lot of guys have to do.
Saints defensive backs coach Aaron Glenn and one of the best coach.
I have a lot of confidence that you'll get those guys straighten out.
I know they're getting excellent teaching during the weekend.
Looking forward to seeing you guys up in Chicago Well, and Coach Glen, I could tell you what I tell the fans.
I watched you in practice that I know you know.
What the hell you doing? You know, I look at coach.
I said, man, no, he knows what he's doing.
The players got to do it.
I mean, you gotta be this with the players play.
I know you're pointing them in the right direction.
Eso I just wanna tell I'm not just telling because you're on because I've said that a number of times on the radio, they got the right coach.
It's not the coach, but ultimately you're gonna be held accountable because the players don't perform.
I'll tell you what.
And that's the one thing about me.
I'm always putting myself first, all right, because I am the coach.
All right? I have to make sure that those guys operate correctly and I'm like, how long I coach, I will always say that.
So But I'll tell you this because I have confidence these players have conferences myself.
I have confidence in this team.
All right? This thing will be fixed, alright? And then we'll get better as we move on.
I can guarantee you that a G thank you very much, man.
We appreciate the time.
Alright. Thank you guys. Thank Glenn.

The Saints Radio.
The Saints coaches show live from the Silver Slipper in Bay ST Louis on the New Orleans Saints radio network, back to coach Bobby A Bear and Zach Strief walking back to the States.
Coaches show in the community Coffee Saints Radio network comes back Street, joined now by NFL ****yst Mike To tell you Mike, you know it was.
We schedule these coaches out way ahead at the beginning of the season, and and I guess maybe there wasn't any good weeks in the first seven to have coach Glen on, because that problem in those issues have continued to come up.
But I'll tell you I have and I don't even know that I can identify why I have so much confidence in Coach Glen in getting that group right.
And I also acknowledge, you know, it's one or two plays a game.
But man, those one or two teams for a team that wants to win a Super Bowl are are in big games going to be very difficult to overcome.
Yeah, there's no question about it in this offseason, Zack.
You know the thing.
Waas You know, we're signing Malcolm to come in here to be that communicator because this isn't the first time thing you know for a secondary.
So what you want to do is to have a guy that used to have a no coach tell Vanessa I want a chirp, er I want a chirp.
Er I want a guy that can tell that other guy because he might sometimes not know his assignment, and I want to got to make sure that he knows what to do all the time.
And I think that was a big part of the off season when you made that choice, Uh, not to resign, move on Bell and to go after Malcolm that he could play a number of positions and and be the chirp er And that hasn't happened yet on you Get all these breakdowns on the big plays and you see it in college and the pros.
And they need a lot of churches out there because, man, I'll see it across the board.
I watch Seattle last night and, uh, man breakdowns all over.
They don't get a pass rush.
So I think pass rush and coverage are hand in hand.
And I think that is something that's not being brought up, that this football team is not getting that consistent pass rush.
Trey has been the guy to be able to get a pretty good pass rush off the edge, and you've got a decent push now and then you couldn't ask for better timing.
You know Davenport what he did, But I do think that that is part of the problem.
You see, not just with the Saints, but with other teams and both the pro and college level.
The pass rush isn't there.
The coverage gets exploited.
Yeah, there's no question.
I mean, you we always knew, right? You protect Drew long enough.
He'll find somebody.
Yeah, he's gonna find it.
He's gonna find somebody eventually, you know, And, um, you know, I think you're absolutely right.
I think that that pass rush maybe has certainly hasn't been what it's in the last couple of years.
This is a team that ranked top five in the NFL in sacks over the last couple of seasons, and this is a team that brings a lot of pressure, right? And so, you know, if you're not getting to the quarterback, you're not taking the quarterback.
And and we are seeing a lot of that stuff.
You know, you look forward and we'll look forward to the Chicago Bears. I think it's hilarious.
Been generally a pretty negative day talking about the New Orleans Saints, who just won their third straight game and sit at four and two.
No, my thing is, man, listen, I just want to w I don't care how I get it.
There's always gonna be some negatives.
Listen, l s u wins and all I've been talking about for the last two days, people.
Man, listen, they gotta make a quarterback change.
So, listen, even when you win, you still hear it.
There is always gonna be something there.
But I do believe on defense that the pass rush and the coverage has to play hand in hand.
And that's something that it's not just on the back end.
It's also upfront.
But what? We see it on the back end because it's a visual game.
So we look forward.
The Chicago Bears.
You play tonight? Many Exactly.
I got a question for you.
Okay? Because you've got to practice and see how good of a player he was a keen hicks.
Because here was a guy, uh, that came in here and everybody that went up against him said, man, though we always thought he'd be a really good player, but it didn't work here.
And so you got to see that up close and personal.
So you go to New England and he does pretty well there.
But then Belichick is usually you don't wanna pay him, But the Bears did.
And are you surprised even a little bit about how well he has progressed on this Bears defense, Which is a lot about pressure And one thing for sure, man, when you got a guy like Robert Quinn and you got Khalil Mack, uh, they gonna attract a lot of attention of how well the team hits us. Played in Chicago.
Well, he leads that team and pressures right now, even with those two guys, even with Khalil, Mack, um, and and Robert Quinn, like you said.
And you know, I think that it's not surprising to see a team have the success that he's had, and I think it makes sense, you know, here's the thing about Akeem.
Akeem is a huge man, first of all, even even by defense, like NFL defensive line standards, He's a big, big man.
He's incredibly explosive.
He's incredibly powerful.
He has a skill set that even again, even being used to playing against NFL players, he's exceptionally strong.
He's extremely explosion in the ST scheme.
He was really forced to play kind of in a phone booth and the one thing that Akeem is not great at is a team is not a knee bender.
He's a leaner, and what the Bears have allowed him to do is get off the football, get running starts, you know, fire off with disregard for whatever's around.
You'll see Akeem Hicks on the ground a lot, which is unusual of a player of his caliber, a lot of time on the ground.
But what ends up happening is he wears people out.
I mean, he just absolutely such a powerful man, and so they'll have their hands full with him.
I mean, I'll tell you, if you're Cesar Ruiz, you're about to see something you ain't seen in college level.
You're not gonna be used to this and so should be interesting.
But, Mike, we appreciate you.
Mark Menard, back at home base.
Diane Newman are program director and all of you for listening.
