e No, you're tired.
E No, you're hurting e.
I wish I could say something that was classy and inspirational.
E That just wouldn't be our son.
Chicks dig scars.
Glory last forever with shotgun D C.
Dig on the center, on the center.
Good evening, Bills.
How are we doing on this victory Monday? And I'll tell you what, Dave.
I only have two words, and then we can on the show on to actually, three words on to New England.
Is that is that three words or four onto is one word e.
I was thinking about is how bad I looked in that suit.
I don't know what was going on in that picture band, but we got to find a new E, have a few pictures of me wearing suits, so we wanna go suit pictures.
I'll get a better one in there, but that All right, you gotta send me one that I just I just creeped on your facebook for that one.
Yeah, I know, but I will send you one.
If that's the route we're going with this professional professional.
Look here we are going professional.
We're just nothing but professionals here for here at the Bills, guys.
So let's let's get going.
Billy Stephen says, How you guys doing tonight? I'll tell you what I'm doing Great.
I'm doing better than we would have done if we would have lost the Jets.
So it z how? I mean, like, seriously, how different e felt after that first Jets game versus this one.
Like the first week I was like, Man, we should have won by, like, 30 And like, I was like, Oh, the style wasn't there.
And this one, I'm just kind of happy we won us and like, because the way was going, man, it's just like, man, how how different we feel depending on where we are in the season.
Yeah, for for sure.
So who we got? We got in the chat here Thio to start off the evening.
I see some regulars.
We got some regulars.
Elliott's in the house.
Daniel Galleries is in their Buffalo mafia.
News is in the house.
I saw Rico in there as well.
Zach Allen, koala bear Con Richard rushes in the House.
She's been here before.
One of our winners from the giveaways is here.
Bobby is in the house tonight, so thank you to To the founders.
Couple of them showing up tonight.
What What was that? What do you say? We got big ass foreheads.
He says, Yeah, we do.
It's just it's actually that I'm just I don't have that much hair anymore.
I think is what it is.
So all right, let's Let's let Z Let's get this thing started today.
And I'm going to start with just an easy question.
Like, what are your initial thoughts after that? That 18 to 10.
No punt victory over the New York Jets.
How you feel in this Monday? You know, I e mean, I don't feel I don't feel bad.
Honestly, I really don't.
I mean, um, it was a tale of two halves for me.
The defense really, really probably got their ass shootout at halftime during that game.
And you know, Alan through a couple of balls early in the game, that probably should be picked.
They weren't, but he protected the baller than the one fumble and you know, 30 for 43.
You know, I don't feel bad.
I mean, I actually think it's probably good for the Bills in the long run with Tyler Bass getting eight attempts in one game, considering the guy had no pre season as a rookie and hey, at the end of the day, like all of his kicks really did matter, all of his makes mattered.
We one by one, possession and we needed We needed every single one of them, right to feel kind of comfortable at the end.
Um, you know, once we kind of went up by five.
Once we went up by eight, you know, I felt kind of insurmountable in a way to me. So I'm glad.
Actually, Tyler Bass got so many attempts in one game kind of catch him up a little bit to the inexperience, Obviously, by not having the preseason, so I feel I feel OK.
Yeah, yeah, I didn't even think about that until you mentioned it yesterday.
That is a lot of field goals, and that's a lot of in game practice for a guy, as you mentioned in the preseason.
To me, I think, you know, I looked at it more from an offensive in defense perspective than I did Tyler Bath, because I was just a little upset that we were kicking the ball that much to begin with.
But the offense, it's like no punts.
Eight possessions passed the 50 like I was sort of the positives where we were moving the football really well, and it looked like Alan was starting to beat those zones and get comfortable being those owns.
The only problem was it looked like the 2019 Bills on steroids because we got past the 50 yard line and we couldn't do anything with it.
And the penalties past the 50 yard line were absolutely atrocious.
So we gotta clean that up because you're not gonna win a lot of games playing that way on offense and not scoring touchdowns and settling for for vehicles.
And when I say settling for people, I don't mean settling for one or 28 free and field goals.
So um, it was it was quite a day on offense and on defense.
I like the fact that we showed aggression.
I like the fact that we showed sign of signs of life.
I like the fact that we exploited a bad defense.
But if I'm looking towards the negative, can they do that versus a real opponent? That's gonna be My biggest concern is is, can Buffalo Bills do what they did yesterday against a really a point opponent? Because the New York Jets, you know, someone said It's embarrassing.
We barely beat the Jets.
They're not a real opponent there, they're not.
They're not an NFL care of the football team right now, like they're just not.
So yes, I can be happy for what our defense did, but But how happy should I be? Well, I think part of it is that we saw a little bit of a change.
I mean, there were some statistics came out that the Bills like It seemed like the Bills were blitzing a lot, but in actuality they only blitz like a handful of times in the game if you look at the actual like the next gen stats and stuff.
But what I liked about the the game was that we were getting home yesterday and I don't know, I think you're right I don't know if that is so much a factor of the Jets.
Just lack of communication, lack of talent, whatever blown assignment.
But the aggressiveness coming out in that second half.
I like to at least that we showed a little bit of a sense of urgency.
And to be honest with you, the announcing three announcers obviously don't know anything as like they don't They don't get into it as much as we do. They're professionals.
But like, you know, Rich Gannon, I finally agreed with him on something.
He said the bills need to show a sense of urgency.
And they finally did do that in the second half.
I thought the first half they didn't, in my opinion.
But the sense of urgency, I think hopefully that's something they can now take as a positive and whether or not they could do this against a quote Riel team e mean we're gonna find out like New England just got house by San Francisco in their own building.
Their offense looks anemic.
So maybe, you know, maybe this is gonna be a blessing in disguise for us to get hopefully go up against two struggling offense is two weeks in a row to kind of right the ship here a little bit as we get healthier towards the middle stretch of the season.
Yeah, I mean, if you look at this defense, Greg Thompson, a cover one, did a really good job summarizing the the The Jets only had five offensive Siris in the second half.
And here's what the New York Jets did with their five offensive Siri's.
They had, ah, foreplay drive for 12 yards.
They had a three play drive for zero yards.
They had a three play drive for negative six yards.
They had a three play drive for three yards and then a three played drive for negative five yards for a total of 16 plays in the second half for a whopping four yards and six minutes and 33 seconds time of possession.
It was night and day difference between the first half in the second half, and you said it.
It wasn't just offensive urgency.
It was defensive urgency.
We finally saw this defense, uh, not be afraid to blitz the quarterback.
I mean, Sam Donald started the game 1 11 for 12 Gerry Sullivan tweeted that he was way better than Josh Allen.
And then in the second half, he completed what, one past the entire second half of the football game.
Eso the Buffalo Bills finally, like, woke up on on defense, started beating their men, man for man at the line of scrimmage, started getting at the quarterback with blitzes.
Jerry Hughes absolutely took over the game in the second half.
My question to you is as aggressive as that defense was as awesome as it was to watch that defense.
Will the Buffalo Bills bring that same intensity against a real opponent? Like when we're playing the New England Patriots and Bill Belichick and Josh McDaniels and Cam Newton? Are we gonna bring that same kind of fire power at the quarterback that we brought at Ah, helpless Sand Arnold and a Doha Loggins calling his first game in three years? Uh, I would say against the Patriots.
Yes, against another team, Maybe not.
I think it's gonna be a schematic thing when we when we kind of show that Dan uh which, by the way, Thanks Dan for the Super Chat.
And also thanks for being on the show last Thursday.
McDermott needs to be calling the defense with the way they were playing.
Second half need to see more of this.
Everyone from my audio last week.
So it's all good. Bad.
Look, um, I I think it will work against teams that you're not afraid that they're gonna they're gonna light it up, you know, through the air against you.
So, like, you can kind of see the change in philosophy from the chief's game to this game, right? The chief's game.
They sat back in coverage.
Maybe we're a little afraid of of Mahomes beating them deep or beating them in the passing game in the second half of this jet scheme.
They weren't afraid.
Sam Journal beating them.
I mean, he made that.
Really? I will give him credit me. That really nice throw.
I think it was two Mims or might have been Perriman in the left corner over Theron.
John Karen Johnson.
Um, but after that, right, really, the pressure was getting to him, right? And so I think that what it shows, at least for me, is I don't know that that's going to be the case Every week.
But I think at least the show that you have that in your ****nal and against teams that maybe you're not afraid so much of their passing game.
Maybe, like the Patriots, you know, with Cam new in, like, lack of weapons there, then maybe you.
Maybe you do do something like that against, ah team, where you don't expect them to throw the ball that much.
We got Jimmy Johnson, 48 champions.
Germany says the Patriots mentality is going to run the ball.
We couldn't stop the run it all yesterday.
We won because of Jenna stopped running ball and started throwing.
We're gonna get to that on Thursday on our preview show because I really think the Patriots might run the ball 60 times.
Try to run the ball 60 times times on us on Sunday Like I'm saying that a little hyperbolically, but But I'm being dead serious.
They're gonna try to run all over us, but at the same time, like I'm sick and tired, I don't care who the quarterback is.
I'm done caring who the quarterback is.
If we're gonna win football games, we can't play scared like I'm done playing scared.
We have to pressuring the quarterback.
We have to start blitzing the quarterback.
We have to start putting more of a presence at the line of scrimmage.
Let Michael hi be Michael.
Let Jordan Porter B. Jordan Porter Let Trey White betray white.
I understand that that your your nickel corner and your number two corner Um, you know, it's a struggle city. Right now.
We'll talk about Dane Jackson a little because it looked pretty good.
But like, Come on.
Like you can't sit back forever and and and expect everything to fall in your lap.
Sometimes you got to go and get it.
In the second half, we went and got it.
And I think we need to start doing that more often, no matter who the opposing quarterback is.
Yeah, I mean, I don't mind that right, Because clearly, whatever we were doing the last several weeks wasn't working as far as getting getting to the quarterback as far as that's concerned, right? Um didn't get to my homes, you know? Didn't get the Tannehill.
You know, we finally got to Donald, so maybe we found something there, so yeah, I could see where you're going with that, right? I mean, clearly, clearly, whatever.
We were doing a couple games prior wasn't working, so I kind of I kind of agree with you there.
I just I just worry a little bit that, um, it's a It was a little bit inflated.
I'll say because of the opponent and that time will tell right time will tell if we try to deploy the same type of attack, Let's say against you know, a better team than the Jets, which is essentially every other team in the league.
If it works, and then we know we've got something.
If it doesn't, then maybe it was more of a factor of the Jets being bad or missing assignments then than it was the Bills Ray Ray coming off a big game in Pittsburgh and nice returning that game.
What once said gets one on one.
He makes the plays needed.
He's a good big dude.
Uh, the defensive line was playing with their hair on fire like Quinton Jefferson was playing phenomenal at Oliver was playing phenomenal.
Jerry Hughes, Mario Addison, Trent Murphy, A J F.
Vanessa who I think needs more playing time.
They slotted him over at right end, which is something they hadn't done yet.
He had some success over there.
The defense of line was playing in the second half, even in the first half, a little bit with with with a ferocity and a ferocity that we haven't seen.
And one of the things I will say is because a couple people have mentioned it.
We just don't have the personnel upfront.
We're missing one thing, and we're missing a one tech.
You know, we mentioned this on the pregame show.
I'm sick and tired of seeing Quinton Jefferson and Ed Oliver spending time at one Tech and being the guys responsible for clogging up defenders.
Go out and get Delvin Tomlinson.
There was another guy.
Um, uh, yeah, I don't know if Detroit is selling, but Greg time set was talking about maybe Danny Shelton.
Go get a big fatty like I say that term a lot on this show, you know, it's not.
It's a generic term, like it's it's not the most professional football you've terms.
I understand that, but I'm trying to get the point across that we need a big fat dude like star Lotulelei there to clog up guys because Justin Zimmer he could do it in stretches.
Vernon Butler can do it in stretches, but they're not nearly as consistent as you want.
And the Buffalo Bills, despite the fact that they started doing it a little bit on Sunday but went away from it, seem to be afraid of splitting up at Oliver and Quinton Jefferson.
They just they're not doing it.
They're putting them both on the field at the same time, which can have its.
Its positives don't get me wrong.
But it also can have its negatives when you're missing that big guy.
So to me, the Bills are just not confident any one of their big guys.
They are throwing those two out there together because they're the best to, um and I just don't know how much longer we could get away with doing that Well, and then how much longer we're gonna get away with doing that? When teams kind of maybe like the Patriots coming off a bad loss for Cam Newton, turning the ball over.
And like you said, maybe they decide.
You know what, Frank or ran the ball for over five yards of clip against the Bills.
They went away from it or gonna unleash.
You know, we're gonna unleash Damian Harris.
We're gonna unleash Rex Burkhead, right? We're gonna let these guys just run the ball, you know, 40 times against the Bills and we're not going to make you know we're not.
We're not gonna put Cam Newton in the situation where he's throwing three interceptions like he did against, uh, like you dig into the Niners.
So that's the thing that kind of concerns me.
Still a little bit is as good as you know.
It appeared the defensive line played, and obviously they did well in getting pressure.
And getting to the quarterback is there's still a little bit of a concern, maybe in the run game.
Especially when you like you said guys like Quinton Jefferson and Ed Oliver paired up and they're not the biggest of guys and honestly, like Quinton Jefferson, you know, like you, you would like to play him inside more situational e not like as a base defense.
So that's where I guess the concern would be if I'm looking at that situation going forward.
Yeah, and let's talk about some individual players Now.
I want to get your thoughts on a couple individual players.
The first is danger Axon.
Dane Jackson had himself what looked like a day on the outside, and by day I mean, he had interception, which is great.
Um, it was kind of just a really bad throw by saying Donald was just more right place, right? It was more like, uh, you know, right place, right time for Dane Jackson playing, dropping back into that zone coverage.
But whatever picks a pick.
But at the end of the day, he also wasn't really thoroughly embarrassed by anybody.
The way to Ron Johnson continues.
Still, he thoroughly embarrassed by people in the slot.
I can't wait till Camel Lewis gets the club off that hand.
So Cam Lewis and go compete in the nickel.
But that's beside the point.
What are your thoughts on Dane Jackson and his and his first performance in Buffalo Bill.
I mean, I was impressed, right? He had to pass passes, defense. He had the interception.
Um, you know, I liked early in the game him coming up and run support.
That was one thing I noticed is well, came up on the right side.
I think the Jets were going left to right, and he came up and, you know, the Jets game four or five yards.
But he was the guy that was there, and he, you know, he was the one that, um stuck his nose in there.
And I like to see that at the corners.
I'd like to see corners that are willing to tackle, and you could tell danger.
Axon, you know, you and I both liked him in the draft process and we were excited when we got him in the sixth round because we thought it was a pretty good value for the type of player.
He was like the measurables.
Nothing hugely stood off the chart with him, but he was just always around the ball and he was a competitors.
And we talked at length about how his coach, just like, lauded him, you know, left and right about the type of guy he was.
So I think he's a guy that earned his spot there and obviously made the most of it and clearly showed the coaching stuff that he was hungry enough to kind of, you know, kind of do his part and I think feel like he should be the next guy.
I'll adjust in Zimmer from last game.
That should make make his way onto this 53 man roster.
Man, I think he should be on the 53.
I think there's one open roster spot right now.
I know from a formality logistical standpoint, they had to send them back down because that's the rule today.
They have one open roster spot, and I really hope that we'll hear by, like, let's say tomorrow that Dane Jackson's up on the 53 because I was really I was really happy for for first performance.
E mean, you can't ask for much more.
Yeah, there was.
There was a lot of people in the comments section talking about his past break up that led to the first field goal.
He obviously had an interception you mentioned.
Very, very stout in in some of his run defense.
And, honestly, Dane Jackson's first game kind of reminded me he's a different player, but it kind of reminded me a little bit of Levi Wallace, his first game a couple of years ago, where this this'll eight round UDF a type of guy.
Levi Walsh's UDF A Dane Jackson's late rounder, comes in after we've been watching high garbage like Josh, Norman's been struggling.
Um, you know, Cam Lewis was struggling because he broke his hand like there wasn't Levi Wallace was struggling.
The Bills were struggling at that C B to position, and it was just a body who came in who showed some signs of life.
And that's what Dane Jackson did.
He showed some signs of life, which was really intriguing for 1/7 round pick.
This is a guy who, you know, you mentioned.
We talked about the predraft process.
He totally reminds me of, um, or physical Levi Wallace. They both struggle.
They both struggle with the same things, turning their hips and running down the football field.
But that being said very similar, uh, in size thing, Jackson's a little bigger, a little more buff, better and run support.
I think that danger Axon, this might just be a guy because it really was surprising to me.
It really was surprising to me that Cam Lewis was the first call up and that the Buffalo Bills, despite the struggle at at at the cornerback position, weren't looking to danger Axon, a guy they drafted in the seventh round.
This could be a really situation of this is a guy who just performs better in a game that he does practice.
And there was no pre season for him to show his stuff.
Because all training camp all we heard was Kim Lewis, Kim Lewis, Kim Lewis, Kim Lewis, Josh Norman. That's all we heard.
All training camp was these guys.
You never heard the name Dane Jackson.
He was invisible.
I think he even heard guys like Brian Allen more so than you heard.
This guy might just be a straight up gamer, a guy who shows up on game day.
And when the lights turned on, he just performs.
And thank goodness he finally got an opportunity to get on the football field because we really need this guy because it appears like a practice setting wasn't getting him there.
So, uh, this one could be a blessing in disguise that he got on that football field and shows what he could do because you're right.
I think he deserves respondents 53 man roster terms, and I think he also had an injury in camp.
If I'm not mistaken, kept him out for a little bit.
So maybe set him back a little and again, not having a preseason for a rookie corner.
That's tough, man.
I mean, that's really tough.
So, you know, in the practice setting a guy like Norman, he's probably going to do well.
He's a veteran, knows you knows his assignments, but, like he said, Gamer like this guy deserves it.
I mean, I'll say this.
I think he he deserves a call.
He deserves a call up more than Justin Zimmer did, like I know Justin Zimmer, like, had a couple nice plays against the Chiefs.
But like if I'm kind of comparing the two and sort of justifying one of them, or even both to have a roster spot like I'm thinking Dane Jackson's deserves it more than Justin Zimmern.
Obviously, they both can be.
But if you're going to promote a guy like Zimmer, you should be looking hard putting the putting Dane upon the 53.
Yeah, Daniel DioGuardi says Dan looked better yesterday than Josh Storm did against Titans.
He certainly looked more confident.
Josh Norman never looked confident in man coverage when he was when he was playing the Chiefs.
Or I'm sorry when he was playing the Titans.
When Dane Jackson's blame man coverage.
I understand it.
Zip, Rashad Pyramid and not a J.
Brown, but still, he looked a hell of a lot more confident than a veteran and Josh Norman did in the man demand sense that they were playing and you mentioned Justin Zimmer.
I think the reason why Justin Zimmer got the call up was there was actually some reports that the team tried to put a claim in on him.
A team was what team wanted him.
So the Buffalo Bills made that move for Justin Zimmer and put him on the active roster.
So it'll be really interesting.
One last defensive player I want to or to more defensive players I wanna get to before we we transition over the offense.
Number one is Matt Milano did not get a lot of reps.
What were your thoughts on him being essentially a decoy? And the few reps that he did play, You know, I thought he did well in the reps that he did play.
I mean, I looked at the game book, only played 19 snaps, which equated to about a third of the defense of snaps on the field.
But I thought he looked pretty good when he was in there.
I thought he was moving pretty fluidly.
Got in there on one of the sacks with Oliver.
I don't know if they credited him for any of it, but he was in.
He was in the mix in there.
Um, he was doing well on some of the, you know, some of the all 22.
You can kind of see his lateral movement Wasn't, you know, didn't seem like there was anything going on there.
Obviously wouldn't expect that with it being an upper body injury.
But I thought he looked pretty good.
And I think that maybe the bills were just like, Look, maybe we can, uh, we can ease him back in.
He's gonna be active for this game.
We don't need him a ton this game, But we're gonna get him some game reps and get him back in the field of things.
Because if you notice he didn't really play that much early in the game.
He played mostly later in the game.
You know, the bills kind of saw, like maybe we need him.
Ah, bit now to kind of right the ship here in the second half.
But, um, I liked what I saw from Milano.
I thought that it was a good first game back for him and as long as like, didn't seem like there were any step back.
There was no report of that.
So I'm hoping he's now good to go and ready to play like a closer to a full allotment of snaps against the Pats.
Yeah, it almost seemed like it was sort of like a preseason game for Matt Milano.
It was like, All right, we're gonna put you in there like maybe once they get past the 50 yard line, things get a little more serious.
Well, being there like we'll let you get your feedback double back in.
But he was mostly a decoy for that entire game.
You know, he did.
When he did play, they were serious reps.
He just didn't play a ton of them.
Kowski says I miss horrible Harry.
You know, we mentioned this a little bit on the pregame show.
I wouldn't mind seeing the Buffalo Bills roll five defensive tackles if it means splitting up Quinton Jefferson and and at Oliver a little bit like Vernon Butler, Harrison Phillips, Justin Zimmer Play the hot hand.
Put those guys at the one technique.
Let them duke it out in the game.
Whoever's playing the best. Like I said the hot hand.
Play them the one tech and let at Oliver and Quinton Jefferson do their thing where they play the best, and that's at three Tech.
So I sort of want to see.
I want to see Harrison Phillips come back.
But part of me really thinks now that this is totally his a sociologist and being right like his A c l is just not right.
He wasn't ready like he's healthy.
No, there isn't a miss.
We have that Jefferson, right? I mean, so it started like a guy in the right that it's still not Yeah, compensation from him.
And we're going down and against the bar by month, for I would most They're technically, that got me seriously not.
It's not me doing putting
