All right, we are back rate route.
What is going on, man? What's up? Connor? Carney.
How are you, man? Good.
How you doing? Pretty good.
It's Thursday night here on October 20 seconds.
Yes, sir. Already.
Time's flying by, man.
When did we start? This April.
I wanted wanted covert hit.
Yeah, Yeah, probably.
April. Done right.
I didn't really hit.
It's really cool how we got together, right? Because I just invited you on as a guest from my show on.
And I think it was your second time coming on.
You've been on earlier before, and then, uh and then I think that I went on your show next Connor commentary.
And then I was, like, sure to get my guest bailed on me at the last minute.
And you remember you came in and then I came to what happened.
I think then all of a sudden I was gonna pinch it for you or something.
And we just said, Why don't we just do a show together? And now here we have a history live on.
SportsCastr, SportsCastr, feature podcast.
Listen to the podcast, right? What's up? What's up? We're living the dream now, but I know seriously, we got a We got a good crew to We got a bunch of regulars.
I appreciate everyone that comes in all the time.
Yeah, I So do I.
None of them are here yet.
Hello, everyone who's on their way.
Did you notice that? I let, uh, let it make chicken back into the group chat? I did.
I also saw earlier today.
I don't know how long it's been there, but he put a picture of me in their e.
Think that's like Is that is Twitter thing? No, that's Z he just that he made the group chat.
He made your picture.
First of all, summer has changed it to raise crew or something like that and and put your picture because he said he wanted to put the face of d p. M. E.
And then I saw raised through like that.
They put me in some new thing E Do you Can you tell me the truth? Are you like me? Do you just I mute the notifications of that group chat because oh, no, I have the notifications, but I have a bunch.
I'm in a bunch of group chats and like, there are times when I'm working where I won't go on my phone for, like, 34 hours at a time and I'll come back and it will be like scrolls deep of stuff.
And I just tap it and scroll all the way the bottom Like I can't read these 47 notifications.
E don't know if you saw the other day I accidentally left the group.
Yeah, Rhino or summers.
One of them put me back into it because I was trying to mute the notifications and I left the group with all you know, my technological sound piece here.
Um, yeah, because it just blew up my phone.
I'd being meetings in my phone to just be Bing bing, Bing, Bing, bing.
I'm like, Oh, jeez, right? So I I didn't You know, it's just everyone arguing over the Jimmy G trade from three years ago or something.
It's always it's never anything like productive or relevant.
Dude, I'm over here on the SportsCastr chat, and the first thing the chicken says is wise corner on the left that don't like this.
Wow. I know. Change is different.
People don't like change, right? Should we should we tell them why the change came? Do you want to tell him or should we switch? Should we switch back? We Should we keep it this? Should we just mess with them? I don't know.
I am used to being on the right to you guys have spoken loud and clear.
I talked too much.
Yeah, I had made to do that.
I talked about man.
So I have relinquished the hosting duties to Connor.
And I am now what were born not were co host.
I'm but I've given the lead to corner so that I don't talk too much.
Now the pressure is on now I have to.
Now I have to talk a lot, Which is good for, uh, make chickens over there.
Actually, put my face is the thing of DP end.
He doesn't like it.
He doesn't like it.
He doesn't like it.
No, he doesn't like the change.
You guys will get used to it.
Yeah, You just took six months the other way.
Now, six months and then we'll switch it back to you again.
If it's any consolation, Connor freaked out, too.
When I do and everybody listen to the podcast has no idea what we're talking about.
I keep forgetting about that.
I was talking to Ben about that yesterday, and he's like, What about all the people? Like when we're talking about things that you can see if we're on the air? He's like all the people that just listen they're gonna have no idea we're talking about Yeah, no, it's true, it Z I was thinking about that today because I think about how the show started, how we used to show, like all the care and tweets and all that.
I thought it was a podcast.
The time it was just the live stream.
I thought if we brought that back because basically, when football season's like if everything goes bad and like football season end, there's no sports, so we're gonna have to fill time doing something else and true, and a part of me was like, ****, we can't even, like, go to the tweets because one of the podcast people gonna just listen to his laugh.
Oh yeah, that's true.
Oh, my goodness.
I forgot about that.
I wonder what happened to those, um, trump singers when we used to play that every day to their still big on.
They're still big, big, big, big on on instagram and tired.
Four more years, man, This they must be out there singing in like Oklahoma wherever they're from right now.
Right? This is the big moment.
I mean, what happens if he loses? I don't know.
They're gonna have toe go in the I don't know.
They're gonna have to go out and change the name of the band or something, right? For less years.
Come on, everybody.
Between that and Carol Baskins, I mean, we just We played that stuff like that.
Let's face it, I'm gonna I'm gonna say a curse.
We played that **** to Death Way, started beating a dead horse way did like people were just so done within.
You and I are just dancing like way.
Speaking of Carol, basket man.
What? Whatever happens, Tiger King just fell off the face of the Earth.
There was the biggest thing in the world for, like a month.
And now, um, well, I think that it was? I don't know.
I heard that they want to make a show with him in prison. That was the last.
Really? I heard.
Well, Carol Baskins on dancing with the stars right now, right.
I don't know if she's still in.
I don't even know if she could dance.
I highly doubt it, but who knows? Although we did see her dancing the husband to 50 cents.
So maybe she can asl long as he's a cool cat and kitten. Yeah.
All right, enough.
Enough of the cattle basket getting deep down the rabbit hole there again.
All right, so we got to go to the pool of the day You had a big poll there on Twitter today s.
So for now on, when our show is on and God knows when that's gonna be guys because it could be every day, it could be one day.
It could be never I mean, Conner, we change it on them on a daily basis.
But every day the show is on, we're gonna throw on a poll of the day and I didn't really worry this one properly corner.
So we didn't get the full response we wanted.
But basically, we asked, who won the Jimmy Garoppolo trade? Was it the New England Patriots, the San Francisco 40 Niners? Or did everybody win? 11% of respondents said the Patriots won the trade, so they're out. They came dead last.
The Patriots definitely didn't win the trade.
So Connor, if I could get a bit of a drum roll, was that everybody wins.
That's me drumming for the 40 Niners win.
67% of the the massive respondents to the poll said that everybody 1 22% said the 40 Niners one.
I was one of the 67% I was.
I can't vote in my own poll, but I would have been as well.
Yeah, I know that Summers from the inner circle didn't believe so.
He believes that we lost right, But I mean, away from this.
The way I explained it is is Connor and I both agree that everybody one Jimmy Garoppolo got paid.
He plays for competitive team.
The Patriots went on to two more Super Bowls, 11 and now they have Cam Newton, who they could have for three or four years um, everybody kind of walked away looking good.
All right, so maybe the draft picks didn't turn into great or the draft picks didn't turn into great players, but I think at the end of the day, everybody one Yeah, I agree completely, man.
And and like I was saying, I said, There's someone on Twitter is like, Well, he was probably gonna leave at the end of the year anyways, so we've got to get something for the guy because if not, like we said, they didn't have the money to sign both Brady and Jimmy G.
And obviously keeping Brady for those two years for three years.
Weber Waas It was the right decision because they won a Super Bowl.
They went to a Super Bowl.
And then obviously last year wasn't a great season, but they won the A F C East and went to the playoffs, at least so they were three very competitive seasons.
And now we have Cam Newton.
And like I said, he was probably leave anyways.
Well, and okay, so let's pretend that they decided to stay with Jimmy Garoppolo and play him in 2018.
I mean, Brady is not there, Jimmy Garoppolo Not gonna stay in backup Brady for 2018.
So maybe the patriots don't even win the Super Bowl that year.
E I mean, I doubt that.
You gotta look with how everything sort of panned out.
And I think it panned out.
Welfare been a well for everybody.
Right? And at that point, I think that would have been terrible for the locker room if it in 2018 they just went to Jimmy Jean got rid of Tom Brady.
That could have caused a huge rift there.
So I don't know, though, After the 2019 season, a lot of those veteran hatreds players were ready for Tom Brady to leave.
I think I think things must have really soured last year.
Well, I mean, look, when he came out after that Philadelphia game and I think that made them what, at that point, like seven and oh, or something like that.
And or was that when they went eight? No.
And he told Tony Romo he was the most miserable eight.
No quarterback in the league.
And he was sulking after after a win.
You know, the Patriots defense grinded out a win, and, you know, I'm just tired.
Hey, was he was back? I mean, Tom Brady wanted to leave.
We both read the dynasty.
Wanted to leave in 2017 right? And you know, craft convinced him not to leave.
And I'm like, but look, would that have tarnished Tom Brady a little bit if they would have traded Jimmy Garoppolo in October of the 2016 of the 2017 season, and then Tom Brady leave the Patriots right after that? Leave it right after that season.
Like with that, Not have.
Maybe tarnished it a little bit more than him leave, because I don't think his reputation got tarnished when he left Tampa Bay this year for Tampa Bay this year.
But I think it could have got tarnished a little bit if he would have chose to leave then, yeah, I mean, just imagine how we all that's we all would have winners, Patriots fans is if we let Jimmy G go and get traded.
Then Brady went inside somewhere else.
I think at that point that wasn't even on my radar.
I thought for sure Tom Brady was going to retire a patriot for the longest time.
We wouldn't even have Jared Stidham at the time.
Right? We would have been putting our hats in the Brian Hoyer we saw how well that went.
Eso Super Bowl might not have been in the horizon in 2018 you know, it might have been.
Might have been a little bit different of the season if we had Brian Hoyer at the helm.
Well, and you know what it was after that Super Bowl, the 2018 Super Bowl.
To that, my YouTube channel, like, really blew up. Yeah.
So if Tom Brady would have laughed after 2017 this show probably never exists because I never would have been discovered by SportsCastr.
That's very true.
And that's funny how the universe kind of lines things up there, step by step, right? Look at us. I know.
Seriously shining down on us right now.
All right, So you want to get to the SportsCastr story of the night? What do we have? All right.
Story of the night, man.
We're gonna talk about Julian Edelman.
Um, this is an old segment.
We're bringing back to used to be on DPM sports sock.
Bringing it to here called the riddle on um, in our story tonight is how Julian Edelman needs to get things going.
So if you like, he does very much so.
So if you let me get through this story, then you and I could just what we can whine and complain to be complainers.
Yeah, which makes sense. So we're told.
Yeah, so look, whether it's injury, old age or years of abuse, Julian Edelman is not the same reliable receiver he once was in New England.
And it has nothing to do with Tom Brady leaving for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and Cam Newton taking over as the New England Patriots starting quarterback.
We don't live under a rock.
The Patriots are a very different offense under Cam Newton, and whether or not it's been better than a Tom Brady offense is still awaiting.
But one thing that we do know is Newton's play style and approach to the game has affected the entire offensive unit one way or the other.
Or, but looking at the numbers, it hasn't affected anybody Mawr than it's affected.
Over the first six weeks of the season, we've seen Edelman less involved in the Patriots game plan.
He's seen a decrease in touches, and numbers would tell us that the most valuable player of Super Bowl 43 has seen his role in the team's offensive rotation diminish.
I guess the question that needs to be asked is.
Is this because of Julian Edelman? Or is this because of the way Josh Daniels has handled the former Kent State quarterback since Cam Newton was given the Patriots starting job? Now, when I first started preparing this story, I didn't necessarily believe that Edelman was being left behind.
So I decided to check the numbers.
And, according to player Profiler, that's exactly what it's looking like.
Julian Edelman has played 72.
2% of the Patriots offensive snaps.
Shockingly, that puts him in third among the other receivers on the team.
Tamir Bird, who I have argued is playing way above where he should be on the depth chart, has somehow seemed to quietly sneak into the one wide receiver, one for the Patriots.
Bird is lined up for 95.
9% of the Patriots offensive snaps and tequila.
Harry is the second most snaps with 82.5%.
This strange part of these numbers is ball sharing, because the numbers would tell you that Edelman has targeted Mawr went on the field than any other receiver.
So Edelman's decline in the passing game game plan is less to do with Cam Newton and more to do with Josh McDaniels.
But why, when asked, Josh McDaniels said this about Julian Edelman quote.
Certainly Julian is always a big part of what we try to do, and I need to do a good job of trying to get him going.
But I think in the grand scheme of things, all of us need to do our jobs well and try to contribute, get contributions from everybody to be the most effective we can be.
The answer was very interesting because McDaniel seemed to leave a little bit of speculation of what's going on with Julian Edelman going back to last season when the keel Harry finally made his debut and seem not to be involved in the game plan.
It all McDaniels came out and said that he needed to do a better job of getting hairy involved in the game.
That was the constant message throughout.
Harry is rookie year McDaniels taking accountability for not figuring out how to use Harry properly.
There was never any talk about getting him going yet.
That's exactly what he said about Edelman quote.
I need to do a good job trying to get him going.
Now it doesn't take much to get a Patriots fan to raise an eyebrow, and I'm surprised McDaniels.
COMMENT HASn't SPARKED MORE CONVERSATION.
Prior to this week, I have been approached by some Patriots fans asking me if I believe that Edelman had checked out.
Now I'm not comfortable saying that he has.
I can point to some instances where it wasn't Edelman like Week four against the chief, Brian Hoyer, through Edelman, a low pass in the past when Brady would have given Edelman that kind of pass, he would have scooped and turned, and that would have normally lead to a big collision with a defender against the Chiefs.
Though Edelman caught the pass and immediately fell backwards and avoided contact.
Now to be sure, I watched the play three times and it's obvious that it was on purpose and he didn't slip.
He made what Cam Newton has made famous a business decision.
Is that Edelman checking out? Or is that Edelman being 34 years old and no longer wanted to take that kind of punishment for one or two extra yards? Honestly, I don't think that Edelman has it in him to check out.
But the type of football he has Hey has he plays is painful.
And I don't care how ripped you are, How many sit ups you can do.
It's not going to stop your body from hurting.
On top of playing less snaps and avoiding being hit.
Going back to last season, when he was still Tom Brady's favorite target, Edelman suddenly caught the case of the drops.
And unfortunately, it's carried over to this season.
Two in 2019 Edelman dropped 11 passes and gave him a drop rate of 9.6%.
And let's not forget the back breaking drop in the closing minutes of the Patriots wild card game against the Tennessee Titans in 2020.
Edelman already has two, and it should have been three if it wasn't for gonna Rochette skis dive in catching the ball that bounced out of Edelman's hands, saying all that Edelman still leads to pay all Patriots receivers with 20 catches on the season.
The concerning stat is his yac yards.
Three yards after catch, Edelman is averaging 15.
1 yards per reception, which is a career best for him so far.
But he's only averaging 1.
7 yards after the catch this season.
In 2019 he averaged 3.
37 yards after the catch in 2018 the average 3.
34 yards after the catch.
The significant drop off is concerning, but you do have to take into consideration that in 2018 and 2019 Edelman at Tom Brady, throwing him the football in 2020 at a combination of Cam Newton, Brian Hoyer and Jared Stidham.
It's hard to understand how much of a difference these quarterback situations have to do with the act, but it's a start to keep an eye on.
After the Kansas City game, I said that you can't talk about Julian Edelman with at least attaching the word liability to his name.
I said it three days after the game, so it wasn't a hot take reactive response immediately following the loss.
I truly meant it.
I took a lot of heat for that take and I expected it.
Adelman has been a legend in New England.
He's gonna go down as the greatest receiver the Patriots ever had, even over Randy Moss.
I also believe that his playoff performances alone should put him in the Hall of Fame and talking about Julian Edelman.
Not performing to expectations in 2020 does not erase what he did in 2013 14 15 16 17 and 18.
And I understand that Tom Brady, Rob Gronkowski and Julian Edelman are very special people.
The Patriot fans.
I myself a 34 year old grown man, owned three Brady jerseys and four Edelman jerseys.
But we can't let our fandom interfere with what we're seeing in front of us.
And what we're seeing is a struggling Julian Edelman, right? I mean, there's a lot to break down when it comes to Julian Edelman first.
I mean, it was on Lee, what, three or four weeks ago, he had the biggest game of his career, though, so I don't know what happened there because, obviously, anyone who's watched the Patriots knows that Julian Edelman has been very, very bad the past few games, especially the last game he had, what, two catches for eight yards was that his final stat line? I think so.
I know he had two catches and he completed two passes.
All right, up the stats when you're talking, right, exactly, and it's like Josh McDaniels is like we need to get him involved.
So he was running end arounds and having Julian Edelman play quarterback just to get him involved in the game.
That's something we've never seen with him.
As long as he's been with the Patriots man his entire career.
He's always been like he filled right in for Wes Welker.
He was always the slot guy.
He always took a beating over the middle, and I think that's probably the problem.
I think it's exactly what you said is that he's 34 years old.
I mean, his his mind, that probably eventually you just don't want to keep taking that type of a beating, which he's done for now, for 9, 10 11 years, however long it's been, and it it has to wear on you.
I don't care what anyone says it has to wear on you taking those hits over and over again week after week, year after years.
It's a ***ulative, so I don't know what they need to do to get him going.
I don't know what it was in Week two, where he had 178 yards or whatever it was.
But since then he's been dropping the football.
His yards after catch has gone way down.
He just looks like a shell of his former self, with the exception of that game, and I don't know what it was in that game.
No, I 100% agree.
He has been a shell of himself and, you know, and again, this was a tough article for me to write and for me to read because I love Julian Edelman.
But I can't get away from that word liability.
That's what we've seen out of him.
And the fact is, is yes, he needs to get going, and I know Patriot fans don't want to hear that Patriot fans want us toe worship this guy because he's done enough for us to worship him over the years, But he needs to get going.
He needs toe hold onto the football.
He needs to get open.
He needs to do something.
And, you know, I saw an interesting comment and the SportsCastr live chat Thank everybody's tuning in Live on SportsCastr.
Um, he's saying, You know, the guy was saying, Basically, I think it was Boston.
Lex was like, Hey, man, I don't understand why Dimier birds getting so Maney carries.
Um, you know, or so many snaps because, you know, they talk about the chemistry can do and they play together in Carolina.
But Julian Edelman gets targeted more when he's on the field.
He has 20 reception on the season more than everybody know.
A good chunk of those came against Seattle in one game, but it's obvious that when he's out there now, do you think that his snap? So he's basically the third wide receiver right now, only playing 72.
2 with Tamir Burden to kill Harry.
Being one or two like to me, I'm kind of sinner going like, Does that mean that Nick Eel Harry or sorry that Julian Edelman are they protecting him because he's older, saving him is he playing with injury and? And look, I think at a point that's like, injury aside, it doesn't matter what's going on with Julian Edelman.
He's not performing 1.
7 yards after the catch like that's awful.
It's really awful.
That's mediocre. Guys I don't wanna hear.
But that's mediocre.
Receiver play, right? And now, obviously, Dimier Birds, the number one receiver stat wise, right? But is Julian Edelman still a number one receiver? I mean, obviously, coming into the season, we had him shooting as our number one receiver, which he has been for several years in a row.
But if he's not, then who is? The Patriots aren't playing.
I'm like he's the number one.
I'll also make the argument to that.
Julian Edelman hasn't looked the same since Gronkowski left the team, and I wonder if Julian Edelman is Mohammed Sunu and Gronkowski is Julio Jones, right? Right now that they have taken away that type of pressure, now it's all on him.
Yeah, and if you know if it's now now you can cover Julian Edelman with guys who maybe would have been paying attention to Gronkowski before.
Now it's too much for Jules right? I mean, but now, if Julian Edelman is not gonna play is if you will not play like a wide receiver one.
Then you have Nikki. Oh, Harry.
And then you have bird.
I mean, we just throwing out, like, three wide receiver threes out there.
At this point, I don't want to say it, but yes, the Patriots need either receiving help or tight end help.
You know, like that's I think that's where we're at, because without them going out there and they're gonna move, do you think this receiving corps could win a Super Bowl? No.
I mean, does that need explanation? Is just No way.
Let me ask you, though, the kidneys Patriots team win the Super Bowl.
Is a receiver gonna be enough to push them over the And we kind of talked about this last week when I asked you, What does success mean to you this season? I don't not see this Patriots team as a Super Bowl competitors, right? And the more that we talk about it, the harder it is for me to talk myself into it every single year Since Tom Brady start in 2001.
I've come out instead of the beginning of the year.
I think they won the Super Bowl, Super Bowl or bus.
That's what it's been for the past two decades.
This year I was kinda hoping the same thing when they signed Cam Newton in the off season.
But now I'm just looking at the offense and I see Julian Edelman, who is 34 has completely slowed down Um Nikkila Harry, who so far hasn't lived up to his potential Demir Bird, who's playing great.
But he's still a wide receiver three at the end of the day, and Ryan ISO is Matt Lacoste junior.
And you know, I see I see and Dalton Keen have yet to really get involved, and they're just a shell of what I was hoping they would be on offense so far, with the exception of can do and who I still think is gonna have a great year, I would also argue that Demir Bird is as a wide receiver four, not a three, right? That's why I've said that a receiver I wouldn't mind is like a Kenny Stills to come in and play number three.
Now I don't know how true this is, or this was just someone talking smack.
But I briefly read this in our chat today, but, uh, apparently, the Patriots are considering Philip Door set.
Are they really again? I don't know if this was just someone making stuff up in trolling.
I don't even know where he ended up.
He's with Seattle, but I don't even think he's like, played a game for them.
Okay, I was gonna say I haven't seen him out there with Seattle at all.
So on and again? I don't know.
It's I didn't do enough research on it.
Maybe I shouldn't even brought off the door set thing because I think it came from that Boston cream guy that I muted because I just couldn't take his stupidities.
Yeah, way we got to get someone good.
Like channel. Yeah.
Mo channels the guy, and I wouldn't know it was legit.
Yeah, that well, how the the two way trade between Julio Jones and Mookie Betts? Yeah, that's that's what I heard, man.
I think he was the guy.
The guy at Logan Airport last week.
Oh, it was both of them.
There was both of them were there? Yeah.
Mookie Betts and Julio Jones.
That coming right back to Boston Perm. Oh, Channel.
Jeez, man, that guy has been doing that for years.
I remember even last year and the year before saying the same type of stuff.
He's right once every 400 times and he pins it.
Yeah, well, if you say enough things eventually, you're bound to be right in the end, right? Yeah.
Connor already failing on your first day.
Now I need to go back to the other side.
I feel like what should we be doing right now? Cutting to commercial? Yeah.
We should have done that 16 minutes ago, but oh, my goodness.
Blew right past it.
We'll go to hear everybody alive on SportsCastrs on the podcast.

Yes, What are we doing tonight? We didn't discuss that.
I was where we came on.
I was just gonna say that.
I was gonna say, speaking of the stakes, weren't we supposed to wear something specific tonight? We were, So has that been delayed till Tuesday? It's been delayed till Tuesday.
Okay, I also we had a conversation about timing to the show, and I'm not sure if we're starting that tonight or if we're going to start that next week or Oh, yes, we'll do that.
We'll split in the middle.
Does that make sense? Go another 15? Yeah.
I got a couple questions for you.
I got I got one.
I really want to hear what you have to say about, um, Josh UCI.
Man, he was practicing today.
Unless I read something incorrectly.
I'm pretty strong on Twitter.
It said Josh Luce was at practice.
Do you expect him to play this week? And if he does? How much? I don't know.
I'm gonna be honest with you.
Um, I was much more excited about David Andrews being back at practice today.
I saw that, too. I think I saw the same tweet.
It was like David Andrews and Jack Huge a practicing on my Caylee.
It's gonna make our team 1000% better. I agree.
And Jermaine Aluminum went on the i r. Today.
Yes, I saw that.
That's tough, man.
He played out of his mind for us the first five weeks.
He was awesome. He did.
And he's naturally a guard.
He did really well.
A tackled the whole offensive line.
Except for last week, obviously, and I kind of give them a break because they played so well up until that game and they were all playing musical chairs out there.
As for Joshua, Chief, you can come in and help with the run game because that's I mean, Phillip.
Lindsay embarrassed the Patriots defense last week.
Absolutely embarrassed them.
And I think that, like that's my whole piece is if you can help in that game because if not, if it's the past him, I don't know where he really helps.
Is he a better pass rusher? You know? And how much does he played? It wouldn't surprise me if you got the Chase one of its treatment, especially coming in late and, you know, it could maybe comes in on some third downs and that kind of thing.
Um, you know, I think where I'm nervous is Are we going to see a repeat of what we saw from Joanne Bentley last week? You know, hat tip to him.
But are we going to see that kind of repeat? I don't know.
And so I don't know where Joshua J.
I wouldn't be surprised if we saw him get the win of its treatment from year one, where he's just, you know, situational and dollar check has a tendency to do that with all sorts of players.
I feel like if you were injured, and especially if you're working in the beginning of the season, he's not just gonna throw you out there.
He's gonna give you a couple opportunities and you better play well or that's gonna be even less opportunities coming for you in the future.
Yeah, so yeah, I think that if he comes out, he needs to be able to come in and stop the run.
That's the biggest thing.
Let me throw uh, something out at you before you get your next question, because this is something that I haven't seen this yet because, as you know, I have stopped.
I've deleted all I've.
I've left all the Patriots groups on Facebook, but somebody was tweeting at me this week.
Apparently, it's full, full of people who want Jared Stidham to start over Cam Newton this week for the people on the podcast.
Conner's eyes are closed back in, shock is headed by.
He's moved 2 ft back from the camera.
Do you guys know that name with a guy just like does this with the eyes wide open with the eyes wide opened after you used your shocked? Is this like two people I hope for? Is this an actual thing where people are serious about this? An actual thing.
A lot of people want Jared Stidham to start on Sunday.
I mean, I didn't think Cam Newton had had a great game last week by any means, but I think his worst game is still better than anything we've seen from Jared Stidham.
And the first four games that he did first three games that he did play.
I thought he was pretty freaking good.
So for them toe wanna bench him after having one down game after having practice once in two weeks is kind of laughable.
It's beyond laugh.
It is laughable.
Yeah, um, you know, we have a mutual friend, um, Who is a the carelessly a Jared Stidham defender? Yeah, and I wouldn't be surprised if he's a part of that group, man.
I mean, I'm not ready to just say Oh, Jared Stidham is never going to be any good, you know, he stinks just based on what we've seen out of him so far.
Maybe you can still be good and have a good career, but I absolutely do not want him to start over Cam Newton whatsoever.
And if Cam Newton is too unfortunately get injured, or if there's something that happened to him, I think the Patriots season would be an immediate and immense danger.
Unless Cam Newton repeats.
Because let's not kid ourselves.
Cam Newton played awful last he did.
He played poorly.
He held onto the ball way too long.
He wasn't sharp with his throws.
He looked pretty decent running it still.
But outside of that, he just wasn't sharp.
So unless he looks awful and just brutally, brutally awful for, like the next two weeks, I'm not even thinking.
I'm not even saying this week that have to be two weeks for me to.
But if it's for the next two weeks, it just looks like he's lost it.
Then I am mawr than okay to give because at this point, where is this season, right? Yeah, if they're to drop the next to and go down to what that would make them two and five, they're in serious trouble.
So at that point, yeah, try and see if Jared systems the future.
Well, I mean, I was re listening to our podcast this week.
I was telling you in the in the in the break, But, um as we've been trying to figure out DPM commentary and how things are gonna work, I've been listening to all our stuff, Like on my way to work.
Everything is all that download all the audios and podcasts and everybody in my life things I'm just just like self centered crash.
They were all laughing like, Look at this guy listening to himself.
That's all I do is listen to myself.
But I was listening to our show from Tuesday today and you asked me if I believe this next two games were absolutely crucial for the Patriots and I just now there must wins.
Like Absolute must wins against San Francisco and then against these air season changers.
If you two weeks from now, fast forward if they win both games, the Patriots are in a great spot.
They just went to four and three.
They be two of the toughest opponents.
They're gonna have to play the rest of the season, one of them being the Bills, their biggest, A F C East rival right now.
And therefore, and three, if they lose both their in serious trouble.
And I would say that they probably won't make the playoffs.
Okay, so let's say they lose the next two games.
They dropped down to two and five.
Yeah, and let's say Cam Newton is, Yeah, Do you think that that makes Cam Newton a one and done in New England? Probably, Yeah.
I mean, this is really his time to showcase his skills and like, drive up his stock because obviously, coming into this season, no one really wanted them, he said.
The Patriots of the only team that really showed any interest in him.
So if he comes out and kind of collapses when they really need them these next few weeks, I think it's gonna be very tough for him to make a comeback.
I don't think he will.
I think he's gonna bounce back and looked like he did the first three games this season.
But if he doesn't, I think he's in trouble.
So should I see if they can cancel my order.
Get the jersey? No, I have I have faith that he's gonna play better.
I mean, like I said, he only got to practice ones.
I'm gonna cut him some slack.
I mean, he looked unbelievable in the Seattle game, despite losing.
He looked great. Week one.
Great week. Three.
They ran the ball a lot, both games.
But when he needed to throw and he needed to run, he looks fine.
It was just last week, and it was coming off of having had co bid and having practiced once in two weeks.
So speaking of canceling orders, um, I want to just tell everybody that fanatics dot com Yeah, shall we say, Shall we say it? Let's just say we're not using that link for a little bit.
We won't go any further than that.
I don't wanna I don't need a lawsuit on my hand, but we're not using that link for a little bit because there's a reason there's no commercial.
Yeah, there's a reason that there's no commercial because, you know, we happen to know for a fact that things have been purchased through the link that we, uh we're not getting credit for.
Yeah, and we're trying to make money and you're screwing with our money.
So nobody used the link for a while until figure things out on our side And what's going on with them.
Just discontinued for the foreseeable future.
But used landscape dot com using the promo code Railroad. Absolutely.
Alright, So Patriots Game plan man, what do you think on offense here? Are they gonna run the football again like crazy? Do they need to get Julian Edelman involved at all costs? His Cam Newton just gonna sling it? What do you think they should dio? Let's look at the numbers.
Yep, let's let's break down this game and look at the numbers.
So the Patriots are two favorite, by the way.
Yes, I just saw that.
I just went on there to check when I saw that, I suggest betting the Patriots.
But I also suggested that last week, So the New England Patriots are the second best running running team in the league.
Okay, Yeah, The 40 Niners are the 10th best running defense in the league.
Yeah, the Patriots are the 25th worst passing team in the league.
Makes sense since coordinators of the fifth best passing defense in the league.
Yep, yep, Their defense is still good.
So I think you need to run the football.
Yeah, that would make sense because here's the thing.
The Well, depending on what Jimmy Garoppolo comes out, they're the 20th best passing offense in the league.
The Patriots the ninth best passing defense there.
The 11th best rushing offense, the Patriots or the 16th best Russian defense.
I think you have a pretty balanced matchup.
Sense that it's only like a two point game.
I think you've got to go with what's working, you know, try what happened.
You know, I hope they play J.
J. Taylor. I'm gonna be honest with you.
I don't want to see and be a healthy scratch.
Taylor plays against Denver Broncos.
Yeah, the Patriots have they? They sparked the offense because twice now he's come out and twice he sparked the run game, right? Exactly.
Sometimes that's all you need.
You need somebody to get out there and get things going because that was one of the things to watching that game is.
They could just never get a rhythm.
Nobody ever made a big play.
They never got that spark that really just set the offense on it off.
And then they started getting rolled with the mo Mentum.
Yeah, his speeds too much, His speeds too much.
And he's knocked.
You don't using the whole game spark.
You changed the momentum.
You change the pace, you change the speed of the game.
And then one of the things man that I hate is when they they just when they're not moving the football and they're kind of going to the line slow, they're getting out there slow.
I like to see him go up tempo sometimes.
Well, that was one of my my bigger frustrations against Denver, and maybe that's just because of the lack of practice.
But nothing seems urgent, right? That's the great word for it.
Yes, it just seemed like the same pace the entire game, and it was very fresh.
We're starting to sound like that negative Boston medium.
They have taken it to the extreme, though they're like, Oh, Bill Belichick's not Bill Belichick game has passed Bill Belichick.
Cam Newton is a first round draft bots, some 12 year old out there is gonna take that clip.
And it's gonna be on twitter of us, just of us saying this.
Seriously, they're gonna be like, these two negative people.
Well, that brings us into the next story, right? Is that you saw another poll today that you showed me.
It wasn't done by us.
But Patriots fans are considered the second whiny ist fan base in the entire country.
Do you agree or an entire world? No.
No, I don't agree at all.
Who was number one, by the way, did they say Buffalo? Buffalo? I think so.
Buffaloes passionate man.
I don't really consider Buffalo whining.
I actually think they kind of take it on the chin when they lose the vote.
Put them at number one.
Really? I don't agree with that at all.
Maybe it wasn't Buffalo, but But it was there.
Always thought Peyton Manning was the winningest Clues there.
Maybe that's just because the Patriots your quarterback you saw you saw a quarterback is number one, right? That's true.
I always thought their fan base to I always thought the Colts were a whiny fan. days.
No, no, You don't think so? No.
Patriots are way worse.
Were the most whiny ist complain.
I was complaining today that we weren't number one.
That is the biggest complainers. Ugh. No way.
Dude, how many times have I texted you? I hate Patriots fans.
Actually, that's true all the time.
I mean, I I text that you, I think on a weekly basis.
Well, that's a good point.
Is that the people that we saw the show on They like the number one show in the country or something out here, And all they do is talk about how horrible the patriots, but your mess? Yeah, it's Patriot fans wine.
You know, I'm gonna toot my own horn.
I was looking at, you know, I have a YouTube page. You know that.
And I was watching.
I was reading a comment.
Someone's like, Yo, we all need to take a breath and chill and look at the cir***stance like B'more like Ray.
Why do it to be so negative all the time? And I'm like, Yes, I encourage people to be like me all the time, like there's nothing wrong with being overly optimistic about your team.
Okay, I know tonight we has been tonight has been, like the most downer night that you and I have had were not like, But it's hard for us to come out here and really fake help pumped up.
We are after what we saw last week.
But if they win, no matter in what fashion against San Francisco, you're not gonna be big homers again.
Like it's Do people just they whine and complain? The league screws us, the ref screw us, you know, like if, uh the Patriots fans always looking for scapegoats.
I mean, Josh McDaniels has been held to the fire.
People want him ran out of town.
It's It's crazy.
No, we we wind more than anybody.
That's actually yeah, I actually have to agree with you, especially on Twitter.
Man, I feel like Twitter.
You go on there after the Patriots lose, and it's like it's always somebody's fault.
There's always somebody who needs to be cut fired, moved on from Don't forget that you're the guy who told me it's not fair that the Patriots had to play without Cam Newton.
I did say that I did.
That was the exact words.
It was there that the Patriots had to play without Cam Newton.
I had to retract that statement after you and Ben told me how absurd it Waas like what if he sprained his ankle and I'm like, Oh, yeah, that's a good point.
I guess if he sprained his ankle, he couldn't have played either.
But they still they still screw the Patriots in that game.
Yeah, absolutely no, man.
Yeah, I think we're whining.
I think I think we're totally went.
I own it, though I own being a whiny complainer, you know, in the same way that I own that we're arrogant, like people are like, Oh, the Patriots family.
I'm definitely agree with that, dude, when people like your patronage is so ****y, I'm like, give us a reason not to be.
That's how I feel, too, though it's like, Why wouldn't we be ****y every single year? I would come out and say, I think the Patriots are gonna win the Super Bowl.
But why wouldn't I say that if they had gone to nine Super Bowls and what 19 years or whatever it waas? Why would that be an absurd statement for me to come out and be like, Yeah, I think they're gonna win the Super Bowl every year.
I would think that.
And every year they would, at minimum, getting very close.
I started my YouTube channel in in the April of 2017.
This year, after the season, we just finished before this one was the first time the Patriots didn't go to the Super Bowl.
Yes, my YouTube channel was opened for almost three years in the Patriots went to the Super Bowl.
I didn't know what to do.
E mean, um, because they lost the Super Bowl.
Then they won the Super Bowl.
Like when they got knocked out of the Titans.
I'm like, What do I do now? Do I keep making videos like it's like, what's what's the next step to this? That's I've never experienced this before, um, as a creator and at that time was working for SportsCastr as a SportsCastr.
I'd never like the playoff.
There weren't still teams playing football when the Patriots weren't so.
I didn't I like.
Should I talk about the teams playing football, or should I just talk about the Patriots because usually, like the Patriots finished playing football and we start talking about the off season.
That's that's the normal progression for the Patriots every year.
For the most part, the season ends when the Patriots season ends.
Yeah, but I was like, I don't know what to do now.
There's like there's like like, eight games of football left.
What do you mean? That was the earliest they had been knocked out since, what, 2010.
Something like that. Yeah.
Had been It had been a decade of, like, a F C championship.
So one after the other after the other after the other.
I didn't know what to do, either.
I'm like, Wait, we have to play on wild card weekend.
I'm like, That's like beneath us.
Well, first of all, we have to play wild card weekend was disgusting.
That was It was disgusting how they got there.
I mean, you kind of knew at that point what the heck happened.
They just dropped the egg against Miami when all they needed to do was when and go to the bye week.
Yeah, the fact that we're having this conversation shows our arrogance that absolutely is that we're complaining that they only won the A f C East.
They didn't get a bye week like they always did. It's not.
They shouldn't have to have played that.
We and we're number two.
We're not number two.
We're number one.
Alright, what's what's your prediction for this week? What do you think? Negative, too.
I feel like it's about a good spread.
I feel like it's gonna be a close game, but the Patriots are gonna pull it out.
I think it's gonna be tight.
Yeah, I think it's gonna be good.
So they come down to a Nick Folk field goal.
Oh, my God, how bad would that be for blood pressure across New England? Let me tell you this.
I don't not see the Patriots winning this game.
I can close my eyes and envision the Patriots winning this game.
I feel like they just find a way to win this when they have Thio on my ESPN pigskin picking pool.
I selected the San Francisco 40 Niners.
What is this, a purposeful jinx? Yeah, because here's the thing.
Yeah, I went less than 500 last week.
You told to stay up, so I figured No, Dude, I think San Francisco is gonna win.
Do you? I really dio I don't I think the patriots are gonna win.
I mean, like being a homer, But I really dio I'm gonna cheer for the patriots.
Yeah, and, um, I hope I'm wrong.
And I hope I losing my pool because I'm always gonna go with my heart over my You know my bet.
Sometimes I pick the patriots when I don't believe it, just so I don't have to bet against them e every week, no matter what, e, maybe I'll change it just to do that.
So this way I You know what I mean.
It's it's even better when they win.
But, you know, I got a bad feeling.
I mean, look, the Onley upside is is most art or whatever.
His name is out, right? That is true.
I think they Yeah, they already moved them out with a high ankle sprain.
So that is a benefit for the patriots.
Although they have a couple of decent backup running backs.
E think they still Jerick.
McKinnon must use them as well.
I think Tevin Coleman's done.
Jimmy Garoppolo really looked good last week.
He did so hopefully he goes back to the week before type performance.
First of Miami E.
I was on SportsCastr news today, man, and I was like, ****! Like he's just getting back in the rhythm just in time to play the Patriot Now I know.
And you know he's gonna wanna show I wanna play Nick Mullins.
Man, I wanna play Nick Mullins.
I know now that that would be like a cakewalk.
That's what we need.
A nice, easy game because we know the next two games they're gonna be to dogfights.
Who we got over this buffalo.
Yeah, Buffalo up to two brawls in a row.
They just need to find a way to squeak out wins, no matter what at all.
Costs whatever it takes.
Yeah, that's it, man.
I mean, it's like this Next stretches super boarding.
The Patriots gotta win it.
Like I said, I hope I'm wrong.
I hope I'm wrong.
I hope I'm not right, but I'm I've got San Francisco this week. I know.
What socks, guys.
I'm sorry, Patriot fans.
I believe that this is the first time.
Um, this is the first.
It's the first time in 2017 I picked against the Patriots.
Really? That's not a good omen for us so far.
Although if if they beat them, you might have to keep taking the other team.
I took New England, beat Kansas City with Jared Stidham.
Brian E take them every week.
And I knew that that was not a good idea, but I I actually thought they could win that game.
I actually thought Well, Brian, if you're the patrons can run the football.
And Brian, where? Game manage and hell, we had a chance for a while.
They had a chance for a while.
Despite him. Not game managing.
Yeah, it is what it is. It is.
It is what it is.
You want me to close this off? Yeah.
What do we have? What's your what's your score prediction.
You take in San Francisco? Yeah. I don't know.
I'm bad at scores 20 toe 18.
Alright, I'm going 26 23 Patriots.
Did I just pick something where they need to, like, miss extra points and safeties and Yeah, but weird stuff happens in games all the time and the scores end up being weird.
What's the weather going to be like out there this week? It's actually gonna be really nice.
It's gonna be like sixties this weekend.
I'm pretty sure.
**** it. I was hoping for, like, high sixties.
I was waiting, hoping for a rainy, sloppy day.
So Jimmy G can't throw the food.
That would have been nice.
Hopefully, that's what happens.
