So we'll begin that in just a few moments.
Um, so once again, thanks for joining us.
Let's go ahead and send all our lengths out.
Thio all I am, um, participating.
Um, he broadcast is, um so let's go ahead.
We'll be setting it up in just a socket.
I'm go ahead seven toe all the neck words.
So this one sent over, So that went over.
Okay, send it over the twitter.
So everything's going over the Twitter.
This was going on Twitter as well.
And then we're going over the Facebook as well.
We'll switch over the Facebook and we'll send it to Facebook as well.
You want to come in and video chat with us? You can Yeah.
Everything sent over So let's go ahead and go over to the Ed Orgeron press conference that will begin in just a few moments.
So thanks for coming in.
So let's go ahead.
Send that over to them.
Let's say we got the live feeds up.
You got the live feet set up.
It's coming up in a second, so we should have it up in one second.
Let me get this for then it is for Congress.
Congress will set the tone on and take questions from the media.
Game****s, of course, coming off a historic win badly needed, one for head coach will must champion company.
South Carolina snapped an eight game losing streak toe Auburn, which actually went back 87 years.
They got the 32 22 victory at Williams Brice Stadium, so the Tigers, now one and two, will host the Game****s, who stand in two and two.
These two teams met will meet, I should say, for the 22nd time and for the first time since the 2015 season, when South Carolina had to move the game from Colombia here to Tiger Stadium due to the devastating floods in the Palmetto State L S U one over the Game****s that day 45 to 24 effectively leading to the old ball Coach Steve Spurrier resigning a couple of days later. Different year.
Different teams, No doubt Gordon Rush before he scout the Game****s Coming up later in the show.
Coach O said it last week following the postponement of the Florida game.
I imagine he's gonna talk about it today.
The focus is on getting healthy and improving L S u.
Regardless of when or who you play absolutely and got a chance.
I got a chance to guard the practice last week, Chris, and it was good to see at Ingram.
Get back out there And, you know, obviously we'll find out a little bit more about models Brennan, who took some hard shots against Missouri but getting more guys out there.
And I think given this defense a chance now toe coach Pollini to simplify some things, to execute technique and clean up some of the errors that they've had in the first couple of games.
You know, we always talk about it and and teams you know, you can always kind of sense the tone or the feeling other team.
From what you could tell again, you know, not trying to break down the X's and O's, but just the tone of practice.
Uh, the mood and feeling of the team last week, a lot of a lot of good energy and, you know, talking to some people out there.
You know, obviously the Missouri lost really hit home, and I think it was a chance for that leadership committee Thio meet behind closed doors.
Talk about where they want to go.
How did they fix some of these problems? So I was really left very positive feeling after watching practice on Wednesday.
Let's talk a little bit about it because Coco last week again getting ready for that Florida game, which eventually would not happen, uh, talked about simplifying, said he talked to both Steve Ensminger and Bo Pelini about simplifying things and, you know, talking to a lot of football people, and I think you and I discussed it a couple of weeks ago.
When you lose spring football.
Ah, lot of times coaches and even former players will tell you the defense suffers the most.
Not to mention the fact L s u was gonna install a new defense going into the spring.
But from what you could tell from what you've gathered, what does simplify the defense? What do you think that means for l s U going into this match up Saturday? Well, you know, definitely going into a game instead of perhaps having you know, 12 or 14 different calls to simplify on four or five and and run four or five.
And I think, Chris, the way you get around it and we've seen some players, you know, gonna I've seen some teams that have been successful simplifying it like Arkansas, where they run four or five based defense is.
But they showed three different things.
And so there's a creative way to do that.
I think defensively, when you see some of the problems that that l s u has had a lack of aggression or mistakes that the players thinking too much and they're not, you know, they're not reacting.
They're not being instinctive.
Defense is an instinctive game, Chris and I think taking less out of their head, lining them up and giving them a chance to play football.
That's gonna help. L s U defensively.
Obviously, late last week, we all found out, as you mentioned, to start the show, that there were some some bumps and bruises.
Maybe even more so coming off that Missouri game, which obviously eyes very important.
L s u you mentioned Myles Brent and I imagine, uh, if that's not the first question for coach today, it'll be It'll be near the top.
Obviously, Eric Gilbert was phenomenal in the opening moments of the game.
Got banged up, did come back, but not sure how much close to 100%.
And also terrorist Marshall, who was unstoppable, Uh, you know, needed probably a week, plus of rest to get back to 100%.
Obviously, it's an opportunity for the two young freshman to get some reps much needed reps.
Not as though they haven't been taking reps, but it was probably a little different late last week.
And maybe even we'll find out this week as well.
If they have to play, the freshmen have to play.
They've had an extra week to get some work in with the ones, and I can't tell you how important that is.
It's a big difference of timing, working with one's versus the twos.
Secondly, obviously the obvious.
You didn't have to go, started the swamp and had we played down in Florida, they were gonna fill the stands up so a little bit different dealing with that.
And yet, I think the big thing is Miles Brennan and you know, I got a chance to see Miles and I'll tell you, there was nothing extreme with with Miles and seeing him.
But I'm certainly not a trainer or a doctor.
And I knew he took some shots and and the good news is that that last week he definitely wasn't gonna play.
So there's another game possibly having back for alright again, it will be a +605 They're about to kick off Saturday night in Death Valley.
Obviously, covert protocols will be a 25% capacity, But I gotta believe if your coach at owes Iran and you're the players, it seems a long time ago the last time they played at Tiger Stadium to open the season when they play Saturday almost a month.
I think it's it's the right match upto be able to come, come back and bounce back from the Missouri game to play that game at night in Tiger Stadium.
Hopefully, a little bit, uh, you know, livelier environment and what they they played Gosha in Missouri and bandit.
But I think it would be a nice welcome home real quickly.
Before we take our first break and again coming up, we'll get a scouting report on South Carolina who again? Two and two on the year before we handed off to coach at Ozier on at the bottom half of the hour, we talked about defense.
We talked about simplification offensively.
Again, the numbers look pretty good for L s u putting points on the board, the racking up guards obviously, over 10 on third down.
That's the first thing that jumps off the page.
But offensively, what do you think L s u striving to do and take a step forward in the game this week.
I think a little bit more balanced offensively else has got to be able to run the ball a little bit more effectively at Ingram e, I think, slated to return.
Like I said, I saw him in practice last week.
He missed the Missouri game.
That's what potentially your best offensive lineman, and I think that you bring up the third downs.
And I think one of things that contributes to that third down is that L She's not staying on schedule too many third and longs to make it even harder to convert.
Think running the foot while keeping Miles Brendan in the passing game out of the third and Longs.
And also first half we we talked about in the broadcast L S u was behind time of possession, 2 to 1 20 to 10 minutes.
And that's a long time for a defense that that's having some issues to be on the football field.
I think running the football cure some things.
Speaking of third downs coming up in the next segment, we'll talk about South Carolina, third downs and third down conversions.
Very important as part of their win this past Saturday at home against Auburn.
Want to remind you fans, when the Tigers win, you win.
All you have to do is enter promo code L s U 50 the Monday after an L S U foot ball victory, and you'll receive 50% off your online order at Papa John's dot com.
So guess what? We'll be back to remind you.
Hopefully next Monday, your chance to do so.
Better ingredients, Better pizza.
We'll continue getting you ready for the Coach O press conference presented by Coca Cola.
Coming up at the bottom half of the hour, we'll talk about the Game****s of South Carolina when we return on the l S u Sports radio network.
Okay, Once again, the editors who on press conference will begin in just a few moments, we'll go over some news headlines on ESPN.
While we wait, we'll go back to we'll send it back over to them back.
Thio, Chris Blair and Gordon Rush the two.
Let's go ahead and go of some news headlines here once again this Sunday, the States will be playing the Superdome.
I'm glad to see that because they are going there was supposed to go to Tiger Stadium, but unfortunately, that's I'm glad to see that the states would limit the number of fans would be allowed in the Superdome.
Um, mayor can't trial denied their requests.
Eso that's what they don't want large gathering.
So I think this is a very important thing that saves, um remain in the Superdome.
Because I know that right there is a total is a hotel sign off.
This team might leave the city.
I mean, look, that's the biggest.
The Saints is the biggest, um, economy.
Um, um, Joe in the city's economy is the New Orleans say so.
I think it's very important that the saints play here in the city.
So once again, this is from ESPN.
Go to ESPN dot com.
Um, and we'll come back in just a few minutes.
Okay, Let's go over to this. Okay.
MBA free agency.
The power the people with power makes big moves.
So that's what they're talking about.
This is from Tim Bontemps.
You could reach him at ESPN.
I think it's an absolute essential A situation.
This is, um, talking about Jonah's op one.
A Asante Supermax deal.
Hold out until the 2021 Victor ah, paid a PayPal.
Uh, this is his option.
Option One option to also they have three is weighted out.
Also, Fred being beats another one that's gonna be a free agent.
Resigned with Toronto.
I joined a rebuilt teams.
So that's what the rebuilding team.
So this was all the, um, players.
That's up for free agency, and so they're gonna have to sign the contracts pretty soon.
So once again, this is from ESPN.
Go to ESPN dot com.
We'll go back to the Header Jerome press conference from the L S U Sports Network, and we'll go ahead and go back there and we'll, um, So let's watch your back Over.
Over at home, Williams lost the opener, 31 27 to Tennessee at home, and then 38 24 failed to Florida in the Swamp.
Now there's nothing flashy about the Game****s, and that's not putting them down there.
They're very workmanlike in the way that they play football.
Um, and against Auburn, they were very opportunistic, had three interceptions from Bo Nix, and it led to three touchdowns for South Carolina.
And the one thing I took away from watching that game was it was a physical game, and South Carolina did not back down from Auburn.
Auburn got a couple of good sticks in early, and then South Carolina able to deliver the blows as well.
So that's been my take away it, looking in South Carolina on film.
They are physical, and we've seen so many defense's struggle, especially in the West Side.
We've seen some high scoring affairs.
Not that the South Carolina hadn't had, you know, games that at least respectable, I guess in Cove it in the twenties and thirties.
But South Carolina physical on defense.
That's a trademark of will muss, champ's football team and a couple of other takeaways for me.
I think Mike Bobo bringing Mike Bobo back there balanced on offense and get this after four games, South Carolina is out gaining an opponent's been a while since you could say that in SEC play 372 to 368 you mentioned third down conversions, 42%.
The 28% what they're They're holding people, too.
That's a big check for them, and their plus two in the turnover on DSO will muss champ.
I think, bringing Mike Bobo into compliments.
Some of the good things he's done on defense.
It's been a nice mix so far.
After four games, the offensive line looked impressive to me again on Saturday.
They were very aggressive and allowed both Kevin Harrison to Sean Fenwick.
Really? Thio lead the ground attack and, again, nothing flashy about it.
But when they needed hard yards, they were able to find it.
A lot of that do, uh, to the battles there in the trenches.
And Colin Hill, who came along with Mike Bobo from Colorado State, transferred quarterback again, not flashy.
That seems to be the theme here.
But he could get it done.
And his offensive line, you know, allowed just one sack to Auburn, which I think played in the Game****s favor, obviously.
But when he's allowed to sit in the pocket, he's got a favorite target.
Heck of an athlete.
He had eight catches, 76 yards and a huge touchdown in that game.
So again they could get it done, especially when he was able to stand the pocket.
And they're not asking him to do anything in the run game.
You asked me last segment about L s U and struggling on third down against Missouri and and we're not staying on schedule.
That's what you see out of the South Carolina offense.
Nothing glamorous when you look at Colin Hills number 842 yards passing in four games, four touchdowns, two interceptions, 62% completion.
But But he's It's the high percentage stuff.
It's the smaller yard things.
He's keeping them on schedule there, converting 42% of their first downs.
So compliment that with the way they're playing defensively, it's been a good mix.
Well, must champ again.
His his motto, I think even when he was in Florida as a head coach was, you know, pack a lunch.
It's it's we're gonna be a physical team.
Tried to be a physical team, at least.
And when you look at South Carolina defensively, I think it starts up front.
Um, care Thomas.
I mean, he just wreaked havoc all day for Bo.
Nix had eight tackles, all eight were solo two for loss, had two sacks and then on the back end.
It was kind of a coming out party for J.
Of course, who fans know the son of former ST Joe Horn? His assignment.
Stay on Seth Williams and and you know Auburn.
They've got a couple of good receivers, but they just kept going back to Williams and Horn got challenged time and time again.
two interceptions and four pass breakups.
I mean, his job was the Shadow, Seth Williams and everybody.
Bryce knew that's where Nix was going, and so did J C. Horns.
Horns. Been fantastic.
Break past breakup on the season and definitely his best game to date out there.
They're really solid on the defensive side.
Ernest Jones 40.
Yeah, linebacker has 30.
Let me let me go back and do these tackles.
He's a 36 36 tackles at this pace, and that's a really good pace for four football games.
21 of them are solo.
They return six of their top eight tacklers.
Chris, on defense again, This is a This is what you expect outta will muss Champ's.
They're they're going to be, Ah, blue collar defense and I'll come up and hit you and they do that.
You know, one of the interesting things you talk about and when you look at South Carolina stats, uh, they have outperformed their opponents overall in a lot of categories.
But what was interesting about the game on Saturday again, field position and turnovers were the key for the Game****s winning.
And for Auburn, who had a chance.
Driving deep eventually literally ran out of time because the clock was rolled off after, ah, hands to the face penalty.
But when you look at yards per carry, yards per catch, Auburn one.
When you look at time of possession, I think it was 31 to 28 change so pretty similar there.
UH, it was the turnovers and the fact that Kroger, who I believe was one of the special teams players with weak, had five months, three inside the 20 and one touch back.
And it made things difficult for Auburn playing disciplined football.
And you go back to my shams time in Florida and your member of the gosh, the fights on the sideline and they continue to beat themselves.
This team is not doing that.
And again, I like the Mo Mentum that South Carolina has.
They had a chance to win that opener against Tennessee.
A lot of people out there think they should have beat that game.
They were in the game against Florida, down in the swamp and weak to they've been competitive in every football game they've been in.
All right, we'll see you Saturday night in Death Valley Sounds good.
According now, Time for head coach at a restaurant.
Buying our defense of communication are tackling our fundamentals on offense.
We started with the goal line, especially the one yard line, making better choices at the one yard line.
And I do believe we fixed it on third down.
Identifying the problems on third down, fixing them.
Better scheme, better execution on special teams, kickoff coverage.
So that was a big emphasis forest last week.
You know, we started game planning on Florida, as you guys know.
And then Wednesday we found out we weren't playing Florida, so we had to turn around and game plans.
Some of South Carolina on Wednesday and Thursday are guys that Friday and Saturday off talked to Coach Moffatt.
They were arrested in the weight room today.
Ready to go are now.
So in the South Carolina will look forward to be back on being back in L s U Tiger Stadium.
Dead valley Saturday night.
Hopefully, 25 people are gonna be there loud and proud.
Can't wait to get off that bus or the tiger walking here Are guys here home stadium and get that energy going Will must.
Champ has done a tremendous job of the South Carolina team.
They've got to win to win winning streak right now.
Played great against Auburn.
Mike Bobo has done a tremendous job with his offense.
He brought his quarterback with him.
They're pro style offense with different formations.
We'll see some 21.
We'll see some I back.
We haven't seen yet this year. Much.
Hey runs out of a pro set and also out of the spread set.
The quarterback he brought back to Colin Hill does a great job of operating his offense.
Kevin Harris is outstanding back and number 13 shy.
Smith is one of the best players in the conference.
He has 34 catches, 347 yards and three touchdowns.
Very fast, very elusive.
Has always done a tremendous job with his defense.
Is a defense is up front, are very active.
A lot of stunts playing zone covers.
Play man coverage zone blitz is gonna be a tremendous challenge for us.
We look forward to seeing our guys today, you know, tell the truth.
Monday, I'll get back to playing else.
You style of football.
Any questions? Hey, Coach Garland, Dylan Foch ST.
New Orleans Last Wednesday in the conference While you said that Miles was doubtful for the game on Saturday, if you all would have played that game, would he is suited up.
And can you update his condition? Is he gonna crack this early in the week? He was not gonna play last week.
We expected him back early during the week.
I just talked to Jack.
He's questionable, is taking a little bit more time for him to hell, and he's gonna be questionable for the game.
Hey, Matt Moscona from ESPN Baton Rouge.
Um, two part could you, to whatever degree, can elaborate on what Miles it's issue is.
And then the other thing is, if If you would JC Horn, Inspector South Carolina, you're gonna give us a thumbnail on him.
He had a really big week this past week.
You expect with terrorist, First of all, he's got good James, George the sun and very good, especially in press coverage, gets his hands on.
You will be tight, put his hands around you very tight coverage, has a nose for the football we evaluated him.
He's he's a great corner, and I know Joe is proud of him.
Miles has a significant injury to his lower body, something that we do believe is going to hell has taken a little bit more time to heal, and we thought he'd be back today.
But it's not, and I don't know if he's gonna play this game.
Uh, two quick questions, uh, personal with the coronavirus situation and Coach Mullen having a coach.
Saban, I've had it.
Have you been able to avoid it while that we've asked you personally? And second of all, we hear South Carolina described as a tough team.
How do you have tow match? Their their toughness, their grid? Uh, Saturday night, first of all, yeah.
You know, we have to be aware, you know, follow the protocol and hopefully that I'm able to stay free of the journal season, and I think that there would be be tough to be away from my football team and I can understand coach Simon not want to be away from the team anybody.
This is the time of year that we need to be on our football team so, yes.
Uh, South Carolina is a tough team.
We're gonna have some tough practices.
We have to find out about ourselves.
I'd like to pride ourselves on being tough.
We're gonna find out Saturday who could be the toughest team following up with kind of a quarterback situation that you had another week with your true freshman back there preparing against the possibility of playing.
What? Have you seen the growth of them? Is anybody kind of step forward yet? To be honest, they both have fantastic weeks.
Both of them are very impressive.
Uh, I believe both of those guys have NFL talent quarterback now, they haven't been in the live action.
They both freshmen.
But we're gonna practice both of those quarterbacks this week.
We'll tell them whoever has the best week is gonna start on.
Uh, and I plan on giving both of them a chance during the game.
Either one starts E.
I want to see what they could do it.
The only way to do it is under live action.
Yeah, kind of build on that.
I mean, I imagine you have kind of a conversation with some of these guys about what they're facing, I guess just kind of how they handle that.
Those two true freshman and also I mean, is there is a situation where it's purely who's looking better Or is it a You're looking for a certain thing out of that.
I think it's a combination of both.
We'll see what South Carolina gives us on defense and who best suits to play it.
But they got to have a good week.
We're not gonna give it to anybody.
They got to perform, you know, last week.
Both of them are readyto start in the salt and, uh, so s so they got prepared for that.
They didn't, uh, didn't know who was gonna start.
So it's gonna be the same thing this week.
Now we're playing at home.
We should be easier for him.
But obviously, being the first game for any one of us is gonna be a little nervous is, But I think both of them can handle Hey, coach, You know, I know you mentioned also last week that terrorists and Eric were a little questionable as well.
I mean, is there any update on those guys and they're gonna be available Yeah.
I think both of them will be available.
Talk to Jack today.
Both of them are gonna practice today.
That should be fun.
What? Hey, coach.
What did you find yourself? Scout.
You have some time to yourself? Yeah.
Figured out some quick areas. Yeah.
Shooting yourself in the foot.
It's all about us making mistakes.
Um, not having the right gap.
It's, uh, not a line of the formations, not making the proper calls.
Guys running wide down, wide open down the field.
Uh, it all comes down to communication.
They will come down to simplification What our guys can handle.
I think this week we did a lot of soul searching on what we're telling the guys how we're telling them, You know, it's not how much we know how much they know Andi, they've got to be able to do that on the field.
Most of all was about us shooting yourself in the foot.
Hey, Coach O Garland again.
Want to follow up? I think family.
When he enrolled at L s U, he was in the to 60 range.
Wait, I think he's down about 2.
No, it was a pastor.
But can he also make make moves now, getting that lower way down to 40? Yeah, I think it's helped him.
He scrambled, had a two minute drill on Thursday.
He scrambled out of their look very, very good.
You know, obviously, Max is very fast.
I think Max is comparable in speed to job are a little bit faster.
Max is a better scrambling than TJ.
He's more of a dual threat quarterback.
But if so on, TJ could move out of the pocket and avoid the Russian.
It's that was gonna I have a covert question if I could.
There's a really extensive feature at S I today about a contact tracing being even a bigger issue, really than positive test.
I'm curious and part of the trucks I e.
If you had a chance to radio but Todd Barry and Mac roads, A lot of coaches and aides have said they're considering allowing players the opportunity has out off contact, tracing where they have to sit out for 14 days.
If you all of the staff or is that department talked about that? You have a feeling on that? Generally, yeah, we have talked about that with Shelly.
We talked about that obviously in August.
You know, we had a lot of talks on the zoom meetings and SEC that was discussing how we could do that.
How we can get out of it.
Not getting guys quarantine for 14 days, because thing happens, the guy gets quarantine for 14 days.
He doesn't have covert.
He could come back and get the covert.
It's like a domino effect.
So how do we stop the domino effect? We have to discuss that hope.
Taking notes just to follow up.
You talked about the communication, and I was just curious.
Is that to the field or on the field that you are finding that you're having mostly on the field that we had? We had one miscommunication last week, uh, against the Missouri, that one personnel grouping in the game.
We called one defense.
They changed the personnel grouping.
We changed the defense.
Not everybody got the call and they should have on the call was sent in.
So that was one from the sideline that we should have done a better job the other ones, or communication within the defensive scheme on the field.
Hey, Coach Joseph Fox, 44.
Uh, is it Is there a scenario where this could this game? If TJ Maxx goes that one of the freshmen could end up being the hot hand advice the quarterback position for the rest of the season? Now you know, Mouse is showing that he could be out quarterback.
I mean, he's had three phenomenal football games.
We like Miles, but, hey, I'm telling you, these two young quarterbacks of great players and, uh, I'm anxious to see what they can do, and we'll cross that bridge when when we get there.
But right now, Miles starting quarterback.
Yeah, well, you know, from the athletic kind of following up on this quarterback situation a little bit, the how important would it be able to really get the running game going? If you do have to go on the question last weekend really, really part? Yeah, and I should have said that on offense, that it was a running game.
On first down, I should have said that we worked hard on that last week.
It's really important this game in any game for us to get the running game going that's going to set up the past.
We cannot be one dimensional.
We have to be able Thio Bok better up front.
We have to be able to run the football better in order to not get behind the 2nd and 10 30 10.
And we got to get the manager manageable dance.
Going along with the quarterback situation kind of a two part question here one.
I mean, how in your experience with, you know, true freshman stepping in the first time? How do you, you know, go through that conversation sitting them down, preparing them for something like this? And at what point in the week do you let them know which one's going in me? Is that something could read all the way up to e.
Think to be fair to them after Thursday's practice, we should tell them.
You know, Friday morning, I'll sit down and talk to him and tell him I believe in him.
Just do the things that they could do.
That's why they were recruited here.
That's why they came here.
No, both of those guys, uh, I think it really helped that they were here last spring on.
Although we didn't have spring football, that they matured a lot.
They've been in the meetings a lot.
There's no offense, and again she's gonna have to do what they could do.
He knows what both of them could dio call the game that that they could manage the game.
Hey, Coach Ben Brighter from the state newspaper.
What kind of progress did you see from South Carolina's offensive line from the beginning of the year compared Toa last game when they kind of change up the rotation? You know, we're talking about them this morning.
Obviously, I coached the defensive line.
We had an offensive line scouting report on extensive Scotland report on each one of the young men.
They were very good on their double team blocks.
They're very well coached.
Their center can handle on nose tackle.
One don't want to reach him and that in that in our game, no cycle can't get handled by center.
He's got to get double team.
I think they're they're better run blockers right now. They are in pass protection.
They've struggled in pass protection.
That's why they made a change.
I think they're getting better at it, but there they're quick game enables them toe hide a.
Maybe a guy that's not a strong and pass protection, a better run game protector there.
Quick game with their quarterback and the number 13 is phenomenal, uh, the play action game of their sprints and their boots.
So they have ways Thio cover for that echo. Joe.
This is William with Tiger Rag magazine on Ask this question because it is 2020.
What's what's the preparation like behind T.
Maxx, in case something really goes bad with injuries that you have to prepare a zone emergency guy.
Maybe you can run the offensive possible.
You know, we have a couple of guys that that own our team, that we feel that that could go in.
And operator actually that A J will probably be the 3rd 13 guy today.
We have a couple of guys that have been been with us for a while on they can go in there and operate the game now.
Obviously, it's not gonna be the same as Max and T.
J, but it's a good question.
We have to be prepared for that.
Hey, Coach, Good afternoon.
During the off season I spoke to Will Muss Champion, he said he was happy for you and the staff.
He said he knew a lot of guys on the staff when he won the national title and everything.
It seems like he's always a very fiery competitors in a kind of survivor.
Just what are your thoughts on him as a head coach? Great guy.
I love him. I love talking to him.
We're going to have always been a friend, always been a good guy, a great defensive coach.
I'm happy to see him having success.
He's not a big ego.
Old guy gets along with everybody and got a credit him.
He's got his football team playing very well.
He made a change on offense.
You could see the differences.
Defense is playing with fire.
They're playing with toughness.
Number tight, tight end Um, that plays blocks.
He reminds me of false tomorrow because they have some toughness in him, so you know they're playing his temperament.
That's who he is.
Because you have mentioned South Carolina's running back Kevin Harris and your opening comments.
Can you just expand on what you think of him in this season? he's Yeah, he's hard to tackle.
He's hard to get down with one guy.
Hey, sees the whole outstanding.
He has vision, breaks tackles and he touched the ball in the backfield.
He's all around back.
Yeah, the coach.
Jeff Duncan at the athletic.
How much time have you had? If you had a chance toe Evaluate J.
Horn, their their star quarterback in South Carolina.
What are your impressions of way? Talked about him yesterday? You know, we have, Ah, Scotland report.
We have advanced scouts that do the work and they watch every game and they give us a Scotland report.
He's a great press guy.
He's very handsy and, uh, in a competitive way.
Good way to say it obviously has great jeans.
He's one of the top corners.
He's playing very well.
His open field tackler plays the ball very well.
Outstanding player, and I'm just curious what the message is this week or you're trying to light a fire under there, but or you're trying to get him to play controlled, capable of e.
I think we need to play with a lot of energy.
Way should be arrested, I told the guys little guys this last week press the restart.
But let's go come to work Coaches coming to work positive.
I started today with a positive mindset with our coaching staff a positive mindset.
Toe win the football game.
Let's coach every day.
Let's do our best job coaching.
I'm gonna ask I'll player telling.
Listen, I asked the coach to give us our very best.
Let's give our very best in practice because when you go back and you don't play well, you gotta look of your practices and we've been up and down in practice.
Last week we put three practice together.
Great practice today.
This week we gotta put four and leading up to the game.
I think it's not more or less being fired up on Saturday.
It's about being fired up today and we're getting better today because we got we got a lot of improving to do on L s U not South Carolina on else you.
Going back to the J.
C. Horn Terrorist Marshall matchup.
What do you think marshals just could be to help them have an advantage against foreign on Saturday? Well, you know, Marshall has an advantage.
Almost most guys because of his athletic ability.
And you know, uh I'm sure we're gonna find ways.
Uh, the terrace is gonna move around.
He was not only be against horn.
I mean, there will be some some situation where he's in the slot situation where he's on the other side of the field.
Yeah, that's almost say about that.
You talked about hitting the reset, trying to get better.
You think that maybe you didn't actually have for the game? Or would you rather have that? You have a good question.
Obviously, if we're gonna play, Florida is gonna be good, but come to find out, talking to Jack, our players were tired.
Are players were beat up? They needed to time off talking to Tommy.
It seems like our guys came back today reenergized.
We had a but a few guys banged up that needed the weekend to get a little bit better.
I thought having the weekend off would help Miles, but obviously it hasn't.
So we're gonna have to deal with that.
The task in hand.
But it turned out to be a good thing for us.
Guys could get some rest.
We need to build off of this because we had two extra days in South Carolina, so we should be ahead this week.
Coach, How did you shift gears and what did you work on differently after the game was canceled last week? Another question.
Well, the wanted to start.
Where do you feel your team leadership in chemistry is? Yeah, let me go in the last one.
First of all, our guys have had a great attitude and the only thing I asked him to do.
I told him, We got a coach.
You better You guys just stay together for and it's been, has been pretty good, having a one or two started coming off a championship team.
It looks like the guys I'll have a great mindset.
Their Eagle eager to win.
Take it one game at a time.
You know, we shifted gears last Wednesday.
Well, last Tuesday night, I heard that the game may be canceled, so I told the coaches to get ready to work on first down South Carolina on Wednesday.
I think we found out for sure on on Wednesday morning something like that, so that's when we shifted gears.
But the whole week S****** was about fixing else.
You had a lot of things to fix.
It wasn't so much game planning against Florida because of the things that we put on film Warrant fixed.
We're going to see them again.
So we had to make sure those were fixed.
They will wrap up with that.
Yeah, I know Your your first year in Baton Rouge.
2015 was last time else from South Carolina.
That was kind of a wild game where it got moved to Baton Rouge A that week.
And that game in Baton Rouge, I think I cut out.
Can you tell me the last part of the question? Yeah.
Just the 2015 game with your first year in Baton Rouge game that was just being Colombia. Got moved.
If you just share your memories of that week another, you play another odd gaming in South Carolina.
Yeah, it was a home game for them.
I think they were playing their fights on.
We didn't get to play when you get to play off stuff, it was kind of different.
We would away team.
I remember a little different doctor.
Thank you so much, I guess.
Go, Tigers There you have it from the headman.
Okay, once again, we will Preview will wreak.
We'll look at the film study of South Carolina, so we're gonna go ahead and look at the film study.
So let's go ahead and do that.
We'll look at the last game against Auburn, so I'm gonna go ahead and pull that up on the screen, so you better get it up on the screen.
So? So, there it is.
We have it up on the screen.
What's which our share screen in.
So we're gonna put this in and got it right.
Here we go. Okay.
South Carolina, this is what happened on on 37.
South Carolina taking on Auburn.
So their quarterback, this is what happened on the quarterback.
They have two running backs back there, and they had their wide receivers, someone thio to to the left and one to the right.
So that was a three wide receiver tandem.
So this is what happens on this play right here Northwest of here.
They're down in seven.
His first pass of the day taking a shot downfield.
So that was a nice little pass right there.
So he throws it to his wide receiver, so he hits him on 37.
So he gets the first down right there, juggling on, unable to come up with.
But that that was, but that was a good catch.
That was a pass play right there.
So he's gonna throw that football right there.
He's definitely going to throw that football.
So our job is, um, Control, um, that line of scrimmage and and get some blitzes on him.
So that's what happened when I had 37 So it turned it Oh, a Russian born 39.
So they rushed 4 39.
So Bo Nix finds a risk.
Goes a nice little past plate Thio against the South Carolina defense.
So it was a good pass play right there.
So that was 1 39.
So they will get the first down.
South Carolina Fever, whose wide open got behind the defense, pulled in for a first down take.
Okay, this is on the 2nd and 10.
So South Carolina, Russia's their heads.
Therefore, people up there, So what happens here.
Mexico, throw a pass up the middle.
Play up the middle, um, to the auburn receivers.
So he gets the first down s.
So that was the one that was on 2nd and 10.
So if you can, um um, spawn apps, um, pass plays are screen passes are middle passes that can help you.
That could help your offense out in an instant.
But we also have to run the football against South Carolina.
So that was a good defense pass play on the Auburn side.
And it's complete to Seth Williams, who is their top receiver.
He doesn't has been interesting, but it's gonna work out for Robert in the long term.
Another pass player.
So this is that they had some pressure on bold next. Right there.
They had They had three guys, four guys going after him.
So they have four guys going after both next for next, although using his feet here trying.
So that was a good penetration right there by Bo Nix against the South Carolina defense of people.
So it brought brought up a first down, and he was able to do it with their so this is on second and one.
So once again, they will have 123 and then and then the guys covering his guy.
So he has, um, So he'll carry.
They'll have five on a place.
So let's see what happens here on this, um, second and one, there's that they'll go to the right side, so they're gonna use the right side toe.
Penetrate that South Carolina defense.
Bixby being chased, but get so it's a nice play right there by number four.
Auburn first down to the 20 yard line s.
So that's gonna shotgun formation.
This is on a lot of plays.
Um, they had three, um three runs, eight passes against the, um Auburn South Carolina defense.
That was three run plays.
An eight pass plays.
There is next to the air on 2nd and 10.
Now he's gonna take off.
So that was the perfect defensive play right there by South Carolina covering that sacked a 21 yard line.
Thomas again saw so they have to kick a field goal in this one.
So we're gonna fast forward this to another play fast forwarded to it.
Not are offensive play that South Carolina have.
We're gonna fast forward to I said when they played on offense.
So this is, um, on 32.
32 situation South Carolina as a wide receivers, um, to your laugh.
And then, um so let's see what happens on this play so they'll throw a screen pass right here so they'll throw a nice or screen pass.
So, uh, eso number 20.
He's a good, barbarous Eva, so we have to cover him big time.
So he gets that football dangers of covert.
Kevin Harris picks up.
And Kevin Harris, that's the young guy that gets the first down.
So that was on the third and two situation first down here in 20 past the 25.
So this is on 3rd and 14 so they face a very big 13 14 situation.
Um, once again, um, one back in the backfield in the wide receiver. So spread out.
Keep Foreman rush for Auburn and Hill s.
Oh, that was a pretty good for man rush against that Auburn offense so often did pretty well and having four men plus for him.
So that's why I say it's very important if you go for man Or maybe on three.
Man, your bubble, Um, get your But you've got to get the significant pressure against, um, him because he will throw that football.
That was a perfect decision right there.
Health for South Carolina.
A flag is thrown before that, that's uncatchable.
That ball was 10 yards out of bounds.
Unless they're going to rule that there was defensive holding before the ball was thrown.
So this is on third and four right here.
Hey, will throw down four so he'll throw a pass play right here.
So it'll be a nice little sideline pass play at the past, the 50 so he gets a nice little reception, but that's a drop pass right there.
So he had a drop pass right there.
So that was a good defensive play by the Auburn Tigers.
Not getting that pass interference dropped by Shy Smith.
That's the young man they're talking about. Shy Smith.
Shy Smith is one of their, uh, wide receivers for South Carolina.
Auburn backed up Knicks from his end zone, rolling to his left, so he throws a nice pass play at number one on that reception, so it's a good good reception right there and versus the South Carolina defects.
So nice award on the speech.
Derek gets all the way to the 25 yard line.
So So this is on shotgun formation for Auburn.
They have their people.
So 123 So it Z So everybody's back expecting a pass.
So they're gonna be expecting a pass on 3rd and 11 on 3rd and 11 Nick's in trouble escapes now a nice long pass play right there.
But traffic was a good defensive play by, um um, South Carolina.
So South Carolina gets a pick right now.
So that's one thing you cannot allow toe happen, whether it's TJ Henry Max, Um, with L s u you cannot Or Miles Brennan, you cannot allow these things to happen because that can cause, um l s u dearly on those plays.
So it's very important that we don't have those, um, interceptions, because the last time when we played against some Missouri, we had some interceptions, and that was just, um um the start of else.
Use the disintegration.
There's JC Horn again, making a play.
That's the young man they're talking about.
That's him, right? there.
He's the former.
He's the son of Joe Horn, the former Saints wide receiver J.
Going a great job.
Go next is a good job escape in the pocket, but JC Horn seeing and peeling off of his wide receiver to hop in front.
So this is on second and six, so they have a second in short. Six.
So big a story in college football today.
So he'll would throw a nice little past place or throw it right to the middle.
And that would get Get the first down for South Carolina when I pass play.
The past has caught for a first down by Shy Smith.
He hung onto the shy.
Smith is one of their wide receivers.
That's why we have to contain him.
We have toe absolutely contain Shy Smith for on South Carolina.
They're dropping a pass on the last drive that would have kept the possession going month with.
So this is a run plate right here in the injury, so But he will pass the football right here so he'll pass.
There was expecting run, but But it was a pass play.
Nice little pass play the number 20 so he gets that first down on that side.
So he gets a nice first down play right there.
Got the first down out of bounds of the three, but a fresh set of downs for South Carolina.
So this is on the goal line situation for South Carolina, so they don't have one back in the backfield.
So Harris will get it in for the touchdown.
So nice or run by Harris.
So you have to contain those runs up the middle.
So they're gonna run that ball, Uh, either the middle or the right side of the field.
So that's just where the defense have to contain them on first and goal defeat, moving, driving, and is into the end zone for the touchdown.
So that was They let Auburn Ladan seven in the second quarter, 11 37 remaining in the second quarter.
This was on third and three. Situation.
Bo Nix back a quarterback eso he'll get He'll get a nice old run right here.
So, um, on that run, so it brings up first down run with knicks getting the first down.
So this is on 1st and 10 both.
Next. Looks like hey is gonna pass.
Um, Number four goes to your lock and looks like he's gonna be o s nice or block right there by him here.
But he goes on a deep pass.
Nice or jump ball right there.
Nice or catch against the South Carolina secondary on first down.
So nice or catch right there on it is on.
There he is, Seth Williams.
So they'll run the ball up the middle.
So it's a perfect block right here.
So that's a nice law.
Excellent block against that South Carolina defensive line.
So, Bixby, straight ahead on big runs through defenders, down to the one yard line.
Yeah, but the ball came out, Jones, But they're going to rule the running back down.
So they did rule the running back down on that play.
So it wasn't a fumble on that flight.
So one yard line, I think this is on first and goal situation.
South Carolina has their package that goal line package, um, coming in.
So this is what happens in that place.
They'll go up the middle for a touchdown.
So that's a nice for run right there.
Number four goes in for that touchdown.
So that was against That was pretty good.
Penetration versus the South Carolina defense to the end zone for the touchdown.
Okay, this is on 2nd and 4th situation right here.
They'll handle ball by ball, Knicks takes it and runs himself.
So it's a nice little run right there.
So an excellent block by the offensive line of Auburn versus the South Carolina defense.
Hey, Forgot where he was picked as Bo Nix is out to the 20 yard line, So Okay, this is on third and three.
So they are there.
Had 123 112345 Yeah, about five people in a, um, in that box right there.
So they're gonna put some people in that box when, um, this is against this in the past.
Play right here.
So they're gonna try toe looking.
Everybody covered, takes off.
So this is another run play right here.
So he runs the ball.
So Bo Nix runs against that south.
He said he didn't see no man open.
So he himself to get the first down Tonight's move to get the first down and then slides well done by Bo Nix.
So this is on third and five.
So this is a 35 situation once again.
South Carolina has, um, 1234 and five.
So that's five people on that line.
So they're gonna run their five people.
Five down lineman's right there, That's what They're gonna run their five man front.
So this is what what happens on the five man front? Moving around so nice.
Well, it s so nice. Well, interceptions.
See that five million front work that absolutely works.
So they're gonna one those five million front if if they do run it, that's why else you have to adapt to those, um, disguises those bloods, coverages and stuff like that going into these games again.
And it's picked off again.
Intercepted by Jalen ****erson.
Yeah, that young man, Jalen ****inson.
He made a nice or defensive play.
So that's that's the That's a message.
That's a message right there.
You cannot allow South Carolina to get interceptions.
That's just plain and simple what we're talking about here.
So he's been targeted.
Okay, this is on 36 situation.
Auburn running their four down Lyman's, um against that they have a shotgun formation.
So one back in the backfield to wide receiver set so to and set up and set times already three catches Hill looking so nice or pass play right there.
So he throws it to number 13.
That's on smell.
So Smith gets a reception right there.
So it's a good pass.
Play towards the sideline down 35 yard line and a gain of 10 to transfer.
So it's nice to attend your pick up there from Colorado State.
They're gonna run behind them. Fenwick.
So Fenwick said, another guy that we have to cover right there.
This is not a guy that can put him on.
Has a first down to the 23 yard line.
So this is on once again, 1st and 10 1 back in the backfield.
Will have their 123 or five.
And then and then six. Right here.
This will be a six.
This will be five, um, individuals on This is the five down set right here.
These people are set up ready to arm on the They're covering Harris back in the game.
It running back, so they'll throw a pass right here.
And I saw past reception right here on the pass is caught by Ban.
Makes the defender Miss Van s O band get that.
This young man band with South Carolina is a good receiver, so we have to contain banned.
There are wide receivers because they'll throw short passes, intermediary passes.
And first down, it'll be first and goal from the two.
Really fun to watch.
So this is the run.
Play right here.
So they'll probably have to run, so they'll get a quarterback sneak.
So that nice old quarterback sneak going in.
Quarterback keeper Hill on second and goal.
Pushes his way line and in for the touchdown.
Nice or push right there.
Was it, though? Maybe that next pass play right here.
So nice or pass play to number 12 for the young reception.
So he gets, uh, equal penetration there, maybe.
Oh, bone trying to throw up past Nice pass.
Play right there.
It's number 30 number one.
So nice old pass.
Play right there against the South Carolina secondary.
Down is Anthony Short sideline.
They'll run Williams here up the middle, runs through defenders so that nice will run about it by Carolina and picks up 10 yards.
Your pickup nicks from the pocket Throws knocked away by so nicely.
Defensive play by the South Carolina secondary.
That was on third and four right there.
Horn and complete.
Going again for Williams by Anders.
So they have to kick a field goal.
But what what we're gonna do? We're gonna move.
We're gonna scroll.
So what, We're gonna we want to another play.
We're gonna go to another fast forward to another.
Places this is on.
This is on Golan situation.
This on the two point conversion Looking so good.
Defensive play by the Auburn secondary on the two point conversion.
So good defensive play right there.
There's a lot of contact.
Is shy Smith that shoved out of bounds.
So once again, this is on first Intense.
South Carolina has one back in the backfield.
They have to Wide receiver on your right.
Happened in the Arkansas game last week and a badly they got beat.
So this is a reversal right here.
This is what we have toe, um, don't allow toe happen.
Is that reverse place that they're going to do this reverse place they're gonna dio just like they did in the South Carolina Missouri game.
They had to do a trick play.
So, uh, spoke up their offense.
So that's that's what we have toe be aware of, right? There is those trick plays at South Carolina ran by Georgia.
Here's a reverse on a trick play on out of bounds.
Joyner, bring him down.
Runs well behind his dad s.
Oh, this is on third and three.
So he'll look, look for his receiver downfield to he'll throw it towards the sideline and taking a shot here on third.
So this is a good pass.
Play right here.
A lot of contact downfield in a flag, but it was passed interference called against auburn on that play on 33 Zbig.
So this is the wrong place right here.
So he's gonna play acts to go do his little play action pass.
So nice little play.
It s nice. Slow.
So he throws at the 46 right there.
Nice little reception.
So he gets to the fullback first catch.
So he's going to use that.
They're going to use their fullback.
That's the fullback right there.
Number 46 for South Carolina.
So our job is to slow these guys down, No matter the fullback.
The wide receiver, the running back.
We have to slow him down.
Prentice finally goes down, Pull back.
Pressure coming Late heels past.
Yep. That was a nice little pass.
Play right there.
Nice interception by the Auburn secondary diving interception by champ.
Oh, big play by the Auburn defense to get a take away in the red zone.
Okay, this is on 3rd and 7th, but it's an interception.
So that was the side on passed by both Nix, but he gets it picked off, but he got South Carolina.
So that's if it is family.
We cannot allow this to happen because they if you throw it into coverage like that, guess what it will be, um uh, interception and most likely will result in six points.
So that is what we have to do.
These passes by J.
Horn taking it back with second interception of the game, JC Horns play on the ball.
So this is on first and Golden Harris running.
So Kevin Harris goes into the left side.
So that's why you got to contain him.
When it goes into the backfield, you've got to contain him because he will go either left.
He will go either.
Right on those rights.
Get in touch down.
South Carolina, Big number 13.
Okay, this is a four man rushed right here.
Field single coverage s.
So they had a four band rush, so he will throw that ball on a four man rush.
So our concern is don't give them the four, man.
Just blitz them.
Don't go four, man Rush, Just go blitz.
If you have to go blitz, then go, Blitz.
So So we're gonna move along.
We're gonna move this around along a little bit.
We're gonna move this film right here, so we're gonna pull the move this around.
This is on the 3rd and 10 situation.
We're gonna we wind it.
No time outs left for Auburn, and they will run it.
So they're gonna run to the left side.
So nice little run, but not much for South Carolina.
About 44 is a shoe goes flying from Kevin Harris.
So it's fourth down and about five.
So this is on 1st and 10.
So he will, uh, Knicks toe throw on First down, long past toward the nice pass plate.
Right there against to South Carolina defenders.
A diving catch is made.
So here it iss doesn't hit the ground right there.
Okay, let's zoom forward.
West Division title contention.
Knicks rolling around trying to make something happen.
He's got some green in front of him.
Christ, Hurdle of defender gets knocked out.
That was a pretty good herder right there.
That was a nice or one versus the South Carolina second.
I that was good for 10 yards right there with Bo Nix I was doing are running at football.
Um, looks like he is going to be questionable.
Looks like Miles Brennan will be questionable for this Saturday's gang.
So they're gonna be using family or Max.
Um uh, they're probably gonna use those two quarterbacks is coming.
Um, so whoever it ISS, they're gonna have to play consistent football because South Carolina, in this game, going through this film place, um prayed played good football, so we're gonna have to be consistent versus them.
So let's go ahead and wrap this up.
