Good morning, everybody.
My name is Joe Knuble, alongside my co host, Lawrence O and four SportsCastr News.
I want to thank you guys so much for joining us this early in the morning.
Well, for me, it's, like, seven.
But for most of you, it's like, 10 a.
m. So it's not that early.
Most of you have had a coffee, but anyway, so today we're gonna be recapping last night's game.
The 40 Niners, which is the Rams.
I'll let you go ahead and give your thoughts, man, and then I'll just kind of piggyback off of it, and, uh, you know, I'll share my thoughts on it.
So, Lawrence, what did you think about the Niners defeating the Rams 24 to 16? Surprising.
But I think most people probably thought that the Rams had this game. No problem.
But the issue was especially with the way uh, Jimmy Garoppolo played, wouldn't came back from injury, but you've got to remember that was his first game back. He was best.
He wasn't in sync with the guys, right? I mean, it took him a time to get back in sync with with these guys that first half, he came back.
He was on point.
He was throwing accurate, quick decision making.
Um, just did well in general as a quarterback.
And yet the complete opposite.
Look for Jared golf in that first half.
He was terrible.
He was throwing the ball in a bad, bad spots for recent.
There was a couple of plays where he threw the football and you were like Who was even throwing the football to write? Hey would take deep shots when he didn't need to.
Um, it just throwing it in a really, really tight coverage.
I mean, it tells you everything.
Like I said before the stream, the Niners had one interception and nine passes defensed.
Bond, whenever you have nine passive defense, yes, you gotta give props to the defensive backs.
Yes, I get that.
But that is also telling you that that quarterback is throwing in a tight coverage over and over and over and over.
He did not have time to get rid of the football toe, let receivers get open or be He was just attempting to shove that ball, you know, in the types faces to make place.
And from what I could tell, a lot of the times he had the time.
He was just trying, trying to throw the ball in the tight spots.
And that really, really hurt the Rams.
The ramps could not get pressure on Jimmy Garoppolo this game.
Aaron, Donald, you did not hear his name, but maybe twice the Empire game.
And it wasn't even, You know, it wasn't for a sack or anything was just Oh, Aaron.
Donald was able to get, you know, Aaron Donald's great, but he got, he got, he got a he got a hand in on a tackle.
What? You know, that's all you saw.
What? You know, um, no.
This this was not a game that a lot of people expected.
It might have hurt the Niners, though, because they did lose their lead running back again where he most, uh, do an ankle injury.
So this, uh, this could hurt them long term.
Uh, Kale, Hasty came in in the fourth quarter.
Look, okay, But it wasn't like Mozart.
When Mozart runs, the NFL needs to come up with a new stat they have broken tackles.
Now they need piggyback runs.
Okay, yards with another guy hanging on to you.
That's what they need for a guy like Raheem Mostert, because this kid was gaining 456 yards with 123 defenders clinging onto him as he was running forward.
Way need to have a stat like that for specifically for him most and probably Derrick Henry A swell. Yes.
Okay, so my overall thoughts of the game I thought that the Niners were in control the entire time.
I think, you know, whatever issues the Rams need to fix, that's just how it was.
There was a time that I think they were up 14 and then the ramps came in and scored a touchdown.
So they, you know, they were trying to make it a game.
But then the kicker missed the **** extra point, and it's like, OK, mo mentum lost.
You know, All the air got taken out there like, Well, we thought we were making this a game, and then they just didn't.
Then they put it down to about 24 to 16.
I believe in the fourth quarter, you thought maybe there's a chance, but just didn't happen.
As you said, Goff wasn't on point.
And I like cough.
I got to say I'm usually a golf defender.
I'm usually a guy that, uh I like cough.
Then a lot of the general population of NFL fans, I would say.
But we gotta be honest, man.
I mean, I just don't think that he is a number one overall pick.
We also saw another number one overall pick yesterday.
Mayfield look absolutely terrible, but we can talk about that later.
Um, so you're right, You're right.
Last night, Jared Jared was gospel.
Hey, was he was sure he was Jared Goff.
You know, whatever the Rams issues are, you know, like I'm sure Rams fans could say, Oh, our play calling or this player did this And that player did that.
Whatever it is, you guys need to figure it out because you guys got dominated.
I would say it was never in doubt for the 40 Niners, in my opinion, uh, and I'm not surprised that the 40 Niners pulled this one out.
I actually predicted them toe win.
I know we didn't talk about it on stream yesterday, but in my pics I did have the 40 Niners winning despite the Rams being heavy favorites because I just I didn't see Jimmy G having another awful game like you said, That was his first game back from injury.
I saw him coming back and, you know, playing to the level that we know Jimmy G can, which isn't great or phenomenal.
But it's, you know, he plays well enough, and he plays with a very good play caller in Kyle Shanahan that he could run that system with no problem, you know? So, yeah, I expected him to have a bounce back game.
And, uh, you know, it's a divisional game, man.
You never know what those games and usually the home teams come out on top.
So that's that's kind of why I had a feeling that the Niners would actually pull that one out.
So, yeah, it wasn't a shock to me at all.
What I saw yesterday.
If there is a coach out there that can, uh, call offensive run place that are as diverse as what the Ravens run Shanahan, I mean run plays you don't wear.
Yeah, they don't.
They don't know where that ball is being ran to and by whom.
It doesn't matter who on the field.
If there on the field be aware because they might get the football and you don't know because there was a couple of plays where that was a reverse lateral run, you know? And I'm like, What? That Zatz different? Uh, Debo, obviously you gotta watch out for him when he's on the field at all times because he runs the football all the time and they just they run block.
Well, uh, they got a grateful back.
They got George Kittle on the field and when those two guys were healthy on the field, you know that their number one thing that they want to do is run the football.
And if you could stop that, then that's when you force the game and the Jimmy Garoppolo hands.
And generally, that's how you beat this Niners game. Yeah, definitely.
One thing I will say about the Rams that kind of impressed me and was Darryl Henderson.
They're running back.
I like him a lot coming out of college, and you saw him play yesterday and he has some speed to him, and he has some.
So, you know, hopefully he could become that that I know everybody was thinking Cam Acres would become the guy.
But I think Darryl Henderson has the potential to be the guy for the Rams there.
But again, we'll see.
We'll see how that turns out.
Um, I wanted to make a point about the 40 Niners, but I totally forgot, man, this this is the problem.
You know, it's it's early morning, and I forget all the points that I want to make you.
How about how impressive that defense look With all the guys out on the defense, they got half their starters not playing.
And yet they took down the rams often.
They still played well, and it just speaks to coaching, man, I think I mean, Shanahan, you know, he does everything that he can with the personnel that he that he has.
So, of course, credit to the 40 Niners, man, but yeah, that wasn't the point I was gonna make, but it's okay.
But it's gone already. It's it left.
Um Yep, s Oh, Well, yeah, like you were telling me earlier, Lawrence.
I mean, you know, the Niners just pretty much did what they needed to do in the first half, and then they just kind of said, All right, we're done, you know? So they put up 21 then three in the second half, and that was it.
And then the Rams tried to make a little come back with 10 points in the second half, but didn't happen there.
So if it wasn't it wasn't from that interception.
A bad throw by golf in the back of the end zone, in the double coverage.
The Rams could have took in the lead in this game or at least, you know, tied it.
But instead he threw it into double coverage.
Uh, I mean, right there in the red zone, inside the 10 yard line.
It was like at the eight or e think it was closer than that.
And doing the double coverage got intercepted right there at the back of sign of the end zone.
It was just a bad decision.
Like I said, golf only through for 50% completion percentages had under 200 yards, but just he was not making good decisions on his passing at all.
Yeah, so what's your overall feeling on guff? Do you? Are you just not sold on him at all? Or do you think he's capable? Because I've seen some games of him that he's just like dealing? He's wheeling and dealing, right? Oh, yeah, there's games.
I mean, like, last night when Rand I were talking about you remember a couple of years ago when it was the Rams and the Chiefs and it was Who's gonna hit 51st? You know, uh, but granted, there was, like, seven interceptions or seven turnovers in that.
Getting to, um, no.
Golf's got the talent.
The problem with golf is he's not consistent.
He's not consistent from one game to another.
He's not consistent from one quarter to another.
It's just it's a little worrying on that end, but if you want somebody who like if you're playing fantasy and you need somebody who could have a great game, But also you were prepared to have a letdown from one specific player, that's that's a guy that you could really you could, uh, pick up for, just in case.
All right, Well, um, was there any other games you wanted to talk about? Maybe.
I know that you and Ray, what do you and Ray talk about? Usually just like the morning games When you guys do that stream.
We talked about the morning games.
I e I talked about the colts game.
He talked about the Patriots game.
What about your Ravens game? Oh, man.
Okay, so this It was an interesting matchup, man. It was.
The first three quarters have felt like, pretty much every Ravens game that we dominate and just win, you know, like 30 to 10.
Usually it felt exactly like that.
It That's the way that the game was going.
Our defense was balling out.
Um, you know the offense.
Still questionable were, as always.
I mean, Lamar is off the play calling is off.
It seems like we only go to the read option when we know we need to score.
That's that's something that I said on Twitter yesterday.
Um, when you know, when the Eagles scored a touchdown to put it down to, like, I think it was, we were up 17 to, and then it was like 24 or no, it was 17 to 6.
That's what it was.
They scored a touchdown.
It became 17 to 6.
And then we started running the read option.
And then Lamar got a 37 yard rushing touchdown to put us up 2046.
So it I'm telling you, I really do think we're experimenting.
We're totally experimenting a new offense like, Okay, what works? And then if we need to go back to the read option, then we will to score.
So that's what we're doing.
It seems like, and then in the fourth quarter, out of nowhere, Carson Wentz is like, I know we're down 30 to 6 or 30 to 14 but I'm gonna try to win this game.
**** it, I don't care.
We have nothing to lose, Right? So then they just come back and then just, uh on Ah, barrage.
And that's why everybody says this is a 60 minute ballgame.
And that's what separates Carson Wentz, in my opinion, from other quarterbacks that when everything is going wrong, do you just allow that to happen and just concede, Just accept defeat like a Joe Burrow has when we played them or other quarterbacks have.
Or are you like a Carson Wentz and says, No, You know what? I'm gonna come in and score points, and maybe there's a chance to win this game, and that's what they did.
We weren't ready for it.
We weren't expecting that.
We were just expecting for the Eagles toe lie down and take their beating like every other team does when they play the Ravens.
Um, but, you know, they came back and, uh, luckily, we were able toe hold them off and that obviously the two point conversion at the end is going to be questioned by Doug Peterson because they just handed it to whence and he, like, tried to run it in, But it didn't work, so but yeah, it was a stressful game, man.
It felt like one of those old Ravens games before we had Lamar Jackson, where everything, every game was close.
And, uh, luckily, we came out on top because we didn't always come out on top back in the old days.
But, um but yeah, I think a lot of people are gonna start questioning the Ravens and say, Oh, they almost lost to the Eagles.
The ****ty eagles.
Um, but you gotta get winds, man.
You know, it's a new season.
My thing about the Ravens, Dude, I got to say, this is that I feel like we had our expectations so high for this season because of last year, right? Because of what we saw last year.
So we're expecting the team to come out and look exactly like we were towards the end of last season.
But the fact of the matter is, this is a brand new season, man, and we can't be putting expectations like that.
We just got to play it game by game.
That's how we got a look at it.
And that's how I've started to look at it.
And I feel like, Ah, lot Mawr, like a lot more stress is taken off of me because I'm not just thinking.
Super Bowl, Super Bowl, Super Bowl, right? I'm just thinking, Take a game by game, get a win here, and there were in a tough division, so that's that's Yeah, that's that's pretty much how I'm feeling now, men.
So I'm happy to get a win.
Well, to take away from another coach.
You are what your record says you are you guys air five and one? So you know, that's still a ****ed good record.
What I want to come through here is it's funny, because the Eagles were what won three and one right on and they were down by a lot and then fought to come back in in the second half.
The team that they tied with who were also 13 and one.
The Cincinnati people, you know, they it was a complete flip game where they they're the ones that went to the massive lead and then allow the other team to come back and just beat them the next three quarters.
Eso It's just It's interesting on how that on how that actually worked out, both teams that were 131 ended up losing.
They lost completely opposite ways.
And that's the difference between a good team and a bad team, right? A good team knows how toe win.
They know how to put games away.
Yep, and all four quarters, right? Like we said, it's a 60 minute ballgame.
So that's that's what really makes the difference here.
But another game I wanted to talk about that.
We've touched on briefly.
Was the Packers getting destroyed by the Buccaneers? Man, Um, you guys probably already talk.
You guys didn't talk about it, did you? Um, we were talking about it, Okay? But we didn't get all the way through it.
I don't think I got to say I was kind of surprised because you saw Aaron Rodgers come out there.
I think they went up 10 to.
If I'm not mistaken early on in the first quarter and Aaron Rodgers was feeling himself, he did the little the pump.
Right? So, um, and then the Bucks defense just said, All right, we're gonna come out and punched these packers in the mouth.
These soft packers.
And they did, man, they absolutely bullied the Packers, man.
Obviously, I think their left tackle, David Bakhtiari, went down early, so that was a big factor.
And But, man, this buck's defense, it really had a showing.
And I think that more people are going to start taking them seriously because, like I said, the bucks, everybody's focusing on their offense, right? Tom Brady, Gronk and Mike Evans and Chris Godwin.
Don't sleep on the defense, man, because that's what makes the Bucks a good team.
So well, I mean, when you have a team that can hold Aaron Freaking Rogers, the Aaron Rodgers that we've seen this year under 50% completions Ah, 160 total yards and two interceptions, no touchdowns, e.
I mean, they came up less than 250 yards total in this game.
That z impressive now.
And And that says something because it's not like the Buccaneers offense was on fire.
Brady was only had 17 completions, 166 yards, 166 yards for Tom Brady.
Between Ron Jones and Keyshawn Von, they had 155 yards rushing into touchdowns.
That's that's positively monstrous on the ground game against Green Bay, who, uh, as of late has had a pretty decent run defense.
Um, that that really helped out, but yeah, this Bucks team, actually, both deep benches played decently.
I mean, uh, granted, you don't want to give up 155 yards rushing, but, um, you know, they they stopped this high power passing attack of the Buccaneers toe help them the only 166 yards through the air.
That's that's really impressive, but yeah, the Buccaneers people are gonna have toe start looking at the bucks now and go.
You know what this might be, um, or complete team.
Um, because obviously their defense can win them games.
Now, uh, there's gonna be times when Tom Brady, old man Brady, is just not gonna be able to do it for you.
You're gonna have to rely on something else.
You have to rely on that run game.
You're gonna have to rely on the defense.
You're gonna have to play old school football to win a football game.
How weird is that? And and that's why I like this Bucks team.
And that's why I picked him before the season to compete for the NFC because I knew that they were gonna have a good defense.
And I and I know that Tom Brady, the way he works is that he just wants to win a game, right? And, uh, he knows the flow of the game.
He's very familiar with the flow of the game of how to win the game.
Eso that That's why I like the bucks this year, man.
Well, but we'll see.
You know, it's still early on.
We'll see how they go.
I think a lot of people are going to sell their stock on the Packers.
I'm not ready to do that.
I still think that they're a great team.
It's just They got beat, man.
What are you gonna do? They got punched in the mouth and they could go one of two ways they can either accept that accept defeat and be like, Oh, man, we suck or they can rise up and be like, Okay, we're better than this.
We got to play better, right? So they punch in the mouth.
Could be a good thing for the Packers.
Well, I think the punch the mouth will help.
Um, also, you got to remember.
Check this out. Tom Brady.
Last three weeks.
Does not look good at all.
Not looked good last week against the bears.
Just completely swallowed him up, you know? So I mean, they've got two losses on the year right now.
Um, a little little interested in if Brady and that high powered offense, especially through the passing game with all the famous you know, you got your evidence in your and, uh oh, yeah, I almost said Debo, But, uh, and and your great tight ends that you have and you're receiving backs out of the backfield that you have.
If you can't get this ball through the air, going, you're gonna come across defense is that aren't going to give up 155 yards rushing.
So you need to start getting that passing attack at least working to the point where it's effective enough to, um, take the pressure off your defense and your run game because you can't win every game with your run game in your defense, you've gotta have some sort of a passing attack in this today's NFL at some point, because there will be times when teams were gonna drop eight in the box and stop your run.
And if you can't score, you can't win.
So and it's interesting that that's kind of the weakest part of their game right now, right? It's because that's what everybody was talking about.
It's like, Oh, God, Tom Brady's gonna have so many weapons through the air, you're gonna have Mike Evans.
Chris Godwin Gronk is coming back healthy.
Howard Cameron break.
You're gonna I mean, Tom Brady's throwing for 5000 yards.
That's what everybody was saying, right? And actually, it's the weakest part of their game.
So that zits definitely interesting how things work out.
Um, but anyway, so you want to do a division update, and then we can get out of here. Lawrence.
Sure you won't do that.
All right, All right.
So, interestingly enough, why don't we start off with the NFC North? Okay, so the Minnesota Vikings are at the bottom with one in five record.
So do you think that the Vikings air possibly putting Zimmer on the hot seat? Or do you think that they should get rid of Kirk cousins, which I think would be the right decision? Honestly, but they can't get because of the dead cap dead cap.
I don't think they could do that.
Honestly, it's just defense.
This Minnesota defense is awful.
Their offenses is lighting things on fire.
I mean, they're scoring 155 points.
E mean the rams air scoring less than that right.
Uh, so, yeah, I mean, but the saints of scoring less than 155 points, that's That's a darn good average, but they're giving up 192.
I don't even know there's a team out there that gives up more than that.
I don't think so.
I think they are the worst defense in football.
They are the worst.
So that's the problem.
They have those secondary.
They have a safety.
And then they got two young corners.
They got rid of both their corners last year.
And you know, they're feeling terrible about getting rid of Xavier Rhodes right now, because they were like, Oh, all the fans.
Oh, there he's washed up.
Xavier Rhodes been playing lights out for the Colts.
E mean, but yeah, that's the problem on the Vikings team is their defense can't stop other teams from scoring their offensive.
All right, then you got the lion's just above them at two and three.
The playoff team Lions Matthew Stafford, M v P um Green Bay Packers at four and one in second place, below the Chicago Bears, who are five and 15 and one.
That's a shock to me.
Do that is that is a bit of a shock.
Yeah, that is crazy.
But you know what? Like I said yesterday, man, the Bears, they're finding ways to win, and, you know, credit to them.
You know, it does feel fluky.
You will say that, but, you know, you got to give credit where credit is due, man, they're winning games.
So, um, hope hopefully for them.
They don't end up going, like five and 11 on a 10 10 game losing streak. But we'll see.
Yeah, sure is there on top for now.
They're on top for now.
Uh, let's move to the West.
Why not? So we still got the Seahawks, of course, on top.
They didn't have a game this week.
Um, the Rams still in second place despite the loss at four and two.
So, you know, not everything is lost.
The Cardinals, their third place three and two, and the Niners trying to stay in the race at three. And three.
We knew this was gonna be a four team race.
Pretty much for the division man.
um, so interesting to see how it's going.
Well, see, Seahawks, the only undefeated NFC team left.
Huh? Good point.
Well, who else is undefeated? All the Steelers and the Titans.
Yeah, but both of those guys have They play each other? Yeah, that's that.
That's actually the game that was delayed right from week three or whatever the Koven situation.
So, yeah, we'll see how that goes, Men.
We'll see how that goes.
Um, actually, is that being played in Tennessee or in Pittsburgh? Let me see real quick.
I want I'm not sure.
I just want to check something because people are gonna call me crazy for what I'm about to say.
But there's things called the ways of the A F. C North.
So I was not surprised that the Steelers blew out the Browns.
I was not surprised because it's always happened.
The Browns always they have these good teams.
They think they look good, and then the Steelers or the Ravens come in.
And they're like, No, you guys are still the little brothers of they have C North Bro game.
I said everybody was like by more than 10 points.
What? And I was like, Yeah, they're they're gonna be the bottom.
And then in the chat with you guys, I was like, Can I change that to at least 20 during the game? But they dominated them.
I wanted the Browns to give him a good fight, because obviously, the Colts lost to the Browns a week before, but the Colts don't blitz, and Pittsburgh does.
And that that puts a big damper on what the Browns do.
So yeah, e good point.
So the Steelers do play the Titans in Tennessee.
Now, I'm still not convinced by the Steelers, but if they beat the Titans, I will be convinced.
Let me just say that.
So I don't think they will.
I think the Titan, I think the Titans will be the last undefeated team in the A f.
I actually agree with you just because of this game right here.
Although I would like the Steelers to be undefeated coming into Baltimore because there would be nothing sweeter than to give them their first loss of the season.
But anyway, um, all right, so where we leave off, Okay, the NFC least Oh, my God.
Okay, So the Dallas Cowboys, They play tonight, right? So we'll see how that goes against the Cardinals.
If I'm not mistaken, that would be a huge win If they can pull that off.
Yeah, that would be a shock to me.
I think that would put them in a massive two game lead in their division, and they would be at 500.
It's, uh, we talked about all offseason about Dak and Andy Dalton.
Right? So we're actually going to get to see Andy Dalton with this offense.
And we talked about it that Andy Dalton will be the quarterback for the Cowboys by week six.
And what happened? Yeah, yeah, I couldn't have predicted the injury.
I didn't I didn't say that because of the injury.
But I'm interested to see how Andy Dalton operates this Cowboys offense because I believe that Andy Dalton is more of a distributor.
He'll just you know he's going to give it off to his playmakers, which I really like for this Cowboys offense, because that's what they should be doing.
And the thing about deck, as much as I like him a smudges, he's a warrior and he you know, he fights till the very end.
He has this factor that he wants to keep the ball in his hands because he's like, I'm gonna you know, I'm gonna make the play right.
But I feel like Andy Dalton is more so I I know I'm not doing anything, so I might as well, you know, hand it off or dump it off to somebody else.
So I it's gonna be interesting to see I'm not saying that the Cowboys offense is gonna be better, because obviously they're putting up yards and points with deck.
Um, but obviously their weaknesses defense.
So that's that's another thing to worry about.
If if you put Andy Dalton in the whole, I don't like his chances.
But if you could just allow him thio, you know, operate the game at at a good level, then the Cowboys could be pretty decent.
I could come at you and I'm gonna tell you something.
The Cowboys defense is going to be better because Andy Dalton, this plan You think so? And I'll tell you why.
Okay, because Andy Dalton is going to run the football more and throw more check downs not score is fast as what Dak Prescott does.
True, which is going to keep the Dallas Cowboys defense off the field. MAWR.
They're gonna be more fresh, will have more energy and be able to play faster and stronger.
So the Dallas Cowboys is actually going to get a boost because Andy Dalton is on the field.
Mhm. That's an interesting no.
And it's funny because I actually agree.
Maybe there's a lot of people that hear us talk about this and think we're crazy.
But we've been saying it since the offseason, man, that I'd like Andy Dalton for this Cowboys offense.
Man, I'm I'm just saying, but yeah, we'll see how it goes.
We will see how it goes.
I got to say, we just played them.
I'm surprised by them.
They're actually not as bad as people are saying.
They're not as bad as the record might indicate.
At least Carson Wentz, man, he is a fighter.
He will you know, he gives that team really good chance to win.
I know like he hasn't looked great.
He hasn't been playing to his M V P level, and he looked bad in the first three quarters of that game.
But man that fourth quarter for Carson Wentz.
He's just like he wants to win.
Dude, you can see it in him and and I'm not counting on the Eagles for this division just yet.
I know they're 14 and one, but we'll see what the Cowboys do.
Men and obviously, Eagles.
The Eagles always only won one game, but they scored more points than the Buffalo Bills, who are foreign one.
So true, that mine.
That's a good point with M v P Josh Allen eso anyway, um, the Giants in third place there, they finally got their first win over the Washington football team.
I don't know if we should be congratulating them or, you know, feeling sorry for them. I don't know.
Eso um here's here's an interesting stat that I saw, you know, that Daniel Jones on and I think this is true.
I I didn't actually do the research myself, but this is something I saw.
So we'll see Daniel.
Joe's is four and 00 no.
He has won four games in his career, and three of them have come against Washington.
So I just want to put that out there for you.
Um, but anyway, Danny dimes, right? And then Washington there at the bottom of one in five.
So and And that Washington Giants game did not come down to whether or not the Giants won the game.
It came down to the Giants defense stopping Ah, play A T end of the game was like a minute left.
They just scored a touchdown.
Ron Rivera decided to go for two right a game rather than go in the overtime on a on a extra point cake.
And like I said yesterday, I love the call by Ron Rivera.
Um, just for the simple fact that you're trying to get your a good, positive message to your team, Yeah, and sending them out there to win the game.
Give them the message that hey, even if you don't get it, I have face that you can right now.
So that's actually a smart Even though a lot of people are saying that was a dumb move, that was a smart move by Robert.
If you have got it, he would have been a genius.
Yeah, that's just all there is to it.
And in that specific situation at that time with that team, it was the right call.
Played a win, baby.
That's that's what I'm about.
So, um, yeah, I definitely think that Washington is headed in the right direction with Rivera.
It's probably gonna be a little while, you know, it's kind of like, kind of like the dolphins.
I would say that it's going to take a couple of years, maybe three years.
But, you know, you can you can start to see some growth year, so All right, why don't we move on to the A F C.
And we can start off in the A F C east? Um, the bills still on top at four. In one.
We'll see. How long That less.
Because they got absolutely smacked by the Titans on Tuesday.
Uh, most teams that that played the Titans have been smacked.
Yeah, Yeah, Henry, Right in the face.
Titans, Titans air.
Good man. And I hate to admit it, but they are on.
And you know what else we'll get to that? When? When we get to the time later. Okay.
Dolphins in second place at three and three.
How about that one.
You feel about that? Oh, man.
And the Patriots in two and three, Um, so Patriots fans air kind of, you know, getting a little bit of wake up call.
They're like, Oh, man, we're not just dominating this terrible division like we usually do.
Um, so interesting for them.
But one thing about I will say about the Patriots, man is that you can't count him out.
You can't count him out.
Of course, because Bill Belichick is always gonna be there.
And I love and, of course, Cam Newton.
But please, men, this was my concern about the Patriots.
And their offense is that if Cam Newton isn't super cam, then they pretty much loose right, because you need you.
This offense needs camp to be super camp every single game.
And that's just a lot to ask from Cam Newton, especially coming off the whole covert thing.
Not really practicing.
Um, so that's my concern about this offense, because what we've seen when Cam is on oh, they could do anything.
They can score points with the best of them.
Right? But if Cam just has a little bit of an off day.
This whole offense collapses, men and and it sucks.
It's like like LeBron James just leading the entire Cavaliers team, right? That's that's what it felt like watching Cam Newton and the Patriots.
Well, that has a lot to do with his supporting cast around him. Thio.
He's kind of in a very similar situation.
When he was in Carolina before they got Christian McCaffrey, they pretty much didn't have a whole lot, um, toe work with.
And Cam has toe jump to that next level in order to make the other guys around him, uh, able to make plays on the field.
So, yes, you say it lives and dies by can.
But it's not his fault that that has to do with the players around him.
I'm telling you, Bill Belichick needs to do a better job of getting some weapons, and it kind of doesn't exactly help that the New England Patriots are.
You know, they're they're they're lining up.
Um, What? They're probably going to the NHL right now to get offensive linemen because they're all hurt.
Yeah, the Patriots are dealing with a lot of injuries men, so we'll see.
You know, that I'm still not counting them out, but, yeah, it's not looking too good for them right now.
So on Ben, of course, the New York Jets leading Joe Flacco win with team in the Yikes, and Adam Gay still has a job.
Will just say that right now.
Men, it's great fired this year.
Mm, hey might get fired at the end of the year, but I seriously like like, great asked me yesterday.
Do you think you'll get terminated? You know, Is that coming up? Oh, he's on the hot seat.
Don't get me wrong, but there's no talent outside of Sam Donald on this team.
So it doesn't matter if you have a change.
You know, a change at the head coaching position right now.
No, no one is gonna be ableto win games with this team.
So, just for kicks, I wanted to look at the Jets remaining schedule to see because we could potentially have a no in 16 team on our hands.
The next game they have is against the Bills.
Even though it's at home.
I could say that's a loss.
Then they have to go to Kansas City loss, then they have to face.
The Jets, Kansas City.
Oh, my God. I would love that.
I would absolutely love that.
Um, the patriots come into town.
Then they got the Chargers in L A.
They got the Dolphins come into town.
They got the Raiders come into town, the Seahawks in Seattle, the Rams in l. A.
The Browns going to New York and then ending out the season with the Patriots.
They might not win a game.
Do get the worst games they have is their own division games.
All the other games.
They're tough games.
They might not win a game.
The easiest game they have is the New England Patriots.
That's crazy bed, But divisional game? Yeah.
So you can't take these divisional games lightly because every team knows each other team.
So they'll probably go one in 15.
Um, man, even if the Jets take Trevor Lawrence, man, I just don't see how that's going to change much, really.
I mean, the the Jets just are so inept.
It's crazy toe watch.
It's crazy to watch.
If the Jets were smart, they would trade back their their pick and trade back again and trade back again.
And when I say that, I mean, like, trade from first to sixth and grab some extra picks and then trade that six back to like early teens, get some extra picks and then trade that back to the late twenties, get some extra picks and then use all those pics on offense.
Yeah, to surround, get some extra offensive lineman outside of makin Beckton.
Uh, go get some receivers, Go get yourself another running back.
And, you know, a few defense of studs would be nice.
You could If you do it right, you could have five second round picks.
Hi. Its trade back.
Right. And you find the right trade partners.
The tough thing is finding the trade partners for that.
But I'm sure without any question, there's gonna be somebody that will give you their first round pick and their second round pick to trade up to your first round pick, maybe even give you two first round picks for next year or something.
You know what I'm saying? So you could trade back because any team that's down in that one through 51 through six slot most of those need a quarterback? Yeah, that's true.
But this is the Jets were talking about, so I don't see them making a smart move like that.
So, uh, Trevor Lawrence and they trade off Sam.
Donald, I'd be okay with that.
That's probably what they'll end up doing just to give give their fan base false hopes again.
Reason I'd be okay with that is you know, you could give it to the Colts.
Just just give Sam Donald to the Colts. Go ahead. Yeah.
You know, just give him a deal.
All right? So let's move on to the North.
Probably the best division in football, man.
I mean, obviously the Steelers air looking good.
I'm not willing to admit it, but they are looking good, man.
They're looking a lot better than I thought they would. I will.
I will say that I'll at least concede that, but obviously they're undefeated, one of the few remaining undefeated teams.
So congrats to them.
But you know that that all ends either this next week or the week after that in Baltimore.
Um, the Ravens in second place at five and one, you know, Like I said, winds don't always come easy, but I'll take winds.
However, we can get him.
And the Browns at four. And two.
They're two losses have been to the Ravens and the Steelers, which I find interesting.
So some things never change, right? Like, as good as they've looked, they still get smacked by by by the big brothers in the division.
Um, so and interestingly enough, they have a negative 24 net points there.
So they've had more points scored on them than they've put up there.
Winds have been tight.
Their losses have been blowout.
Yeah, so I find that interesting.
Um, And then the bungles there at the bottom 14 and one.
So, you know, they're kind of keeping us down, keeping the division down.
I won't lie, but hey, whatever.
So we'll see how that better.
Yeah, they were getting They played better.
Yeah, well, I'm not gonna say last week, but the week before last week, they played well and then, uh, gets the game against the Colts in the first quarter.
They look good now, the rest of the game.
They didn't look all that great, but that first quarter, they looked like fricking unstoppable.
Yeah, what I think might have happened.
And again, I didn't get to watch the game Bengals, Colts.
But what I imagine happening is the Bengals put up 21 they're like, Oh, man, we're you know, we're gonna win this game.
We could just sit back and relax, and then, you know, they found out real quick that hey, we can't do that.
We gotta play all 60 minutes, right? The problem.
The problem with that game, actually, was that how the Bengals play offense played right into how the Colts play defense.
The Colts play that zone, Cover two and Joe Burrow, and that offense likes the little quick check down passes, which is right there in that soft zone.
So the Colts had to change how they play defense.
And as soon as they changed how they play defense, that Scrooge Cincinnati all the heck.
So now a lot of Bengals fans were talking about how they don't like the coaching staff, how they want Zach Taylor out.
We have to monitor that situation there.
All right, moving on to your division.
This is an interesting one.
The A f C South, the Titans still on top.
And oh, And your gold yesterday.
Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
And your colts just behind them at four and two.
So what are your thoughts on your division, man? Obviously, Texans and Jags, way at the bottom at one in five.
Well, I mean, I think the Houston Texans are better than one in five team by by far.
They took Tennessee right down to the right, down to the wire.
They did took him the overtime.
So, um yeah, this game wouldn't have actually been won by Tennessee if it wasn't for a 90 Some your breakout run like Derrick Henry.
But yeah, this is a very good don't let the one in five record for Houston or Jacksonville fool you because they've been playing good tight games all year.
They've just been on the wrong, wrong side of the coin flip. Basically.
So, uh, they just and yet Indy has has had their blowouts, but they've lost some tight close games, too.
So, um, no, that's a good division.
I think it's still a good division, I think.
Houston, with a new coach and everything.
They've been playing their hearts out.
I like Tennessee.
They're built to be a lot of these teams, but they have a weakness.
And the thing about Tennessee is Ryan Tannehill's better than everybody other than me said that he waas okay and I say that I I made that I went through the film.
I said, Ryan Tannehill is solid, right? Okay.
Gates ruined him in Miami.
That's just just like gazes ruining Sam Donald in Miami.
He goes to a team that's got some talent around him and good coaching.
Tannehill's playing out state, I mean, right now make his quarterback rating for the last.
His last 15 games is somewhere around 1 20.
Yeah, it's impressive.
Yeah, and that's the last 50.
So, you know, basically, a year's worth of playtime is last year worth of playtime.
He would be M v P.
I mean, you can't have a 1 20 quarterback rating and be like, Well, that's M v P.
Stop status right there.
What? My Onley Onley question on Lee question and this is totally like a hypothetical.
We may never see it, but what kind of Ryan Tannehill will we see without Derrick Henry next to him.
That's just what I'm curious about.
Because without the threat of Derrick Henry, if you just have to key in on Ryan Tannehill, what would happen? That's just what I'm curious about.
Well, we've seen.
What was it this game? Was it last game that Ryan Tannehill threw, like **** near 400 yards and four touchdowns? I think it was last week.
Yeah, because because, uh, they held, They held Derrick Henry down, uh, toe like three yards a carry.
Yeah, and Ryan Tannehill took it on himself and played his buttle.
So yeah, I like Tennessee's hit right now is their defense.
Believe it or not, they they're very good, but they're not.
They're good all around, but not exceptional in any area.
So if you're really, really strong in a specific area, hit him in that specific area and you might be able to outscore him.
That's that's what the Texas did.
They almost freaking won that game.
I think the thing about the Titans defense is that they don't really have.
They don't really have any holes, necessarily.
They have solid players in every position.
But the thing is, ah, better player can just have a better play on that on some of these players, so exactly.
All right, fair enough.
All right, let's round it out here with the A F C West and we'll probably go ahead and get out of here is we've been going for about 45 minutes.
The Chiefs still on top four and one.
Um, they they didn't play this week.
I guess they had to buy.
They play today. Today? Yeah.
They play tonight. I have to cover the game.
Be watching that out.
Be looking for that.
Um, then the Raiders close behind three and two.
They have a win on the chief.
So we'll see how that goes.
Once they could win, graders could lose every game the rest of the season, and they'll be.
And everybody will remember them that they'll be talking about that win. Yep.
It's just like the Brown speeding the Ravens last year.
That's exactly what it is.
Um, that sort of reminds me off.
So But look at these.
The Raiders have scored 151 points, but have allowed 150 to talk about Balanced.
Um, then the Broncos there are two and three just hanging on with their win against the Patriots and then the charges rounding out there at one and four.
Although I think they're a little bit better than the record might indicate, man.
The charges we got to say, Herbert, we were both, like, Big Herbert haters.
You know, we didn't think he was worth anything.
We thought he was gonna suck.
And honestly, his came out and looks really good.
I didn't think Herbert was worth the sixth overall pick.
And he's proving me wrong to this point, Bond.
I'm more than more than happy toe.
Say, Hey, I was wrong about something.
I still think that he's not, uh the only way he gets better is by, um, understanding his team and his playbook because I think talent wise, he's already at his feeling.
All right, guys.
