00:07:18
Yeah.
00:07:19
Must e.
00:07:24
R.
00:07:29
Millions is an absolute Jason, he said.
00:07:35
Good evening, folks.
00:07:37
On Welcome back to another week of training snaps The Last Dream.
00:07:42
I'm Andy Pressler.
00:07:43
And with me, as always, is my wonderful producer and co host extraordinaire Steve Holler.
00:07:49
How you doing, Steve? I'm doing great.
00:07:52
Syracuse is doing less great.
00:07:55
Um, as you could see, I've dipped into the anniversary bourbon for tonight instead of the normal beer.
00:08:00
So that's where we're at this week I adopt for the Willow Rock Jim Brown ale again.
00:08:04
So, you know, when in Syracuse, you must Syracuse is so true.
00:08:10
And there is no more apt description of that line than football laying an absolute egg against the team that it has no business laying an egg against Syracuse lost toe Liberty.
00:08:24
It was not pretty.
00:08:26
Well, to be fair, it was fine for a half.
00:08:30
Yeah, not a zoo. Dumb as it sounds.
00:08:34
And I think we'll touch on this a lot.
00:08:38
Yes, We lost the liberty.
00:08:39
Yes.
00:08:40
There were certain things that looked like a giant bag of ass.
00:08:43
There were some things to take away from that game, especially on the offensive side of the ball.
00:08:48
Uh, so we'll probably touch on that later in the show.
00:08:51
But I guess initial thoughts on what? What didn't happen? Nobody.
00:08:59
Nobody who's watching here is watching here, expecting us to say that there that there is much positives that could be taken away from this because ultimately you and I have said, Actually, let's rephrase this back at the very, very beginning One of the first shows that we did in this format, where we pre season we said this season doesn't really matter.
00:09:20
There's a really good chance it could get ugly.
00:09:22
And then the North Carolina game and pit games happened where we weren't necessarily deluded into thinking Syracuse was good.
00:09:28
But we saw so many positives that were then brought out in the Georgia Tech game that made us go.
00:09:35
This is actually going to be okay.
00:09:38
And the last two weeks have been a stark reminder that we said it could get this bad way were mentally ready for this five weeks ago.
00:09:48
It's just that the first three weeks of the season kind of lulled us into a sense of Oh, no, never mind things. They're gonna be okay.
00:09:56
No, this is this is how 2020 could have gone.
00:09:58
It was more likely that was going to go this way than it was gonna go any other way.
00:10:03
That doesn't make it less fun.
00:10:05
But that is just a reminder that this is against something we'll get into, um, evaluating coaching staffs futures based off of just this season in a vacuum is not the way to go true.
00:10:19
And even even evaluating correct himself over the last two weeks isn't the way to go.
00:10:24
Um, that said, you know, the ice that was keeping, you know, see cold is slowly melting away.
00:10:33
Um, I think, especially if things continue to spiral as they seem to be with the injuries and the current situation.
00:10:41
With everything going on, Um, I think come next year, yeah, there's definitely some pressure like there's there's a good bit of pressure.
00:10:51
There's going to be shakeups.
00:10:52
There's going to be things that happen in lieu of another egg being laid.
00:10:57
But if we could take what's turning into a good recruiting class and what's turning into you know some good experience for the young kids and turn that into a positive instead of holy ****.
00:11:11
We're losing the We're losing the whole Titanic going down right now.
00:11:18
Um, I I think there's there might be some light at the end of the tunnel.
00:11:24
E.
00:11:25
I definitely agree with that statement, especially the fact that they're young kids are getting playing time there.
00:11:31
Ideally, there's a full camp.
00:11:34
There's a full spring.
00:11:35
There's full practices over a season where that kind of experience picks up, and that's just not gonna happen this year.
00:11:41
I forget who had the tweet, and I should have saved it.
00:11:44
Um, it was buy one of these Syracuse beat writers Carlson, Bailey or Goudie.
00:11:49
Um, totally forget which wanna add it.
00:11:53
But it was basically that if you just took the Syracuse injured report and they were all due to co vid opt outs or co vid related illnesses, they would be on the brink of being forced to forfeit games.
00:12:08
And I I and that to me, is something that everybody says, Oh, injuries shouldn't be an excuse, and they shouldn't be an excuse when everybody is dealing with injuries.
00:12:17
However, Syracuse is at the far end of the scale here to a point where injuries they're going to affect what happens on the field.
00:12:27
And what we saw was that the Liberty First team is better than the Syracuse 2nd and 13 which I know.
00:12:35
Some people don't want to admit this, but like Liberty is like a fringe power five team that could probably cut it in the A C.
00:12:42
If they were to be let in, I would say they're not.
00:12:45
I mean, yeah, they're recruiting classes aren't all that stellar at this point when you look at the actual numbers, but they've been over the past three years since they came to FBS.
00:12:55
They've been putting a ton of money into football, and they've been getting, you know, not just the Malik Willis transfers, but all of your transfers from D one schools.
00:13:04
Not necessarily.
00:13:05
You know, it Z not like they're they're still working with the entire one double a roster or FCS roster.
00:13:12
Sorry, I'm showing my age.
00:13:13
Uh, but yeah, I mean, is there any snowball's chance in hell? We should have lost that game even two, or even with our second stringers? Probably not, but, you know, there's a bunch of things that could have happened, and one of them definitely did in the sense that are run defense was again exposed much like it was against Duke.
00:13:38
I think we've given up over 700 years of rushing offense to they won in 14 and a five and a team where were the only team that's worth their weight in any sort of salt thio that they've beaten.
00:13:51
So, um, that is great.
00:13:55
No, it's very much not great.
00:13:56
And this was something that the our news magician writer's room was kind of talking about during the game.
00:14:02
And Babers kind of alluded to a post game, but again didn't fully like going on anything, which that's a whole other thing that John kind of wrote about today.
00:14:10
We'll dive into later, Um, but the linebackers continue to show a lot of promise in the past. Rush.
00:14:19
Like, I think our linebackers are a really solid young group of undersized guys that have a tremendous amount of upside.
00:14:27
However, they're not run stuffers, so they have to be smart.
00:14:31
They have to be able to read the play.
00:14:32
They have to use their speed and athleticism to put themselves in the right position to anticipate where the runner is going to be where the holes are gonna open up, and they've just time and time again, proven that they don't know how to do that yet.
00:14:46
And teams have found ways to either confused them in the sense that they're running different kind of traps and they're running different kind of misdirection runs.
00:14:57
Or they're just able to get offensive lineman to the second level on nullified linebackers before they're even in position to make a play.
00:15:04
And that's and that's really frustrating to see because there's not a whole lot that we can expect.
00:15:11
Change.
00:15:13
Yeah, and I guess I mean, you did see Tony White trying to have a little you, some role, more people into the box.
00:15:19
The problem ends up with and what I again, it's Sunday.
00:15:25
So I haven't done any sort of watch.
00:15:27
Our rewatched and I Also I did get the first series in which didn't show me anything, but normally I don't watch the defense anyways, but what What I was kind of gathering just from watching It was that Well, wait was kind of rolling more guys into the box and that his assignments never changed and you didn't alter you know who was keen on who you still had.
00:15:50
You can't argue, would get flushed with, you know, on the RP.
00:15:54
Oh, he would follow his man instead of reading.
00:15:56
Um, with the lack of experience in the secondary, you had I mean, you had Amman Greenwood in for trail Williams.
00:16:05
Who? Richard Freshman.
00:16:06
You had jihad Carter in for Eric Holy and Rob Hanna, a true freshman in for an Francisco.
00:16:15
So, um, when your first three safeties down, it's again, not g**** up.
00:16:22
But one thing that happens there is you really don't have that safety coming up in run support.
00:16:29
And you kind of saw it when, Without Cisco and Kohli last week against Duke playing against a better team, it was exposed.
00:16:38
Um, but this week, especially with all three of them down, it was just, uh once they got past that first level, um, there was usually one man to beat, and that was about it, you know, there was no reading react.
00:16:53
There's no, like people were biting on the air, Pio, Um, even even later in the game, when nobody was when there was no past to be had and you knew they were going to run.
00:17:04
You still had people, you know, following their reads a little too heavy.
00:17:07
And I get that you don't want to get caught out on something like that.
00:17:10
But it is a systemic look that you really need to change.
00:17:14
Um, I did notice that when trail came back in the second half, I don't know what whether it was carrying or not or whether it was a team, Um, like, team rules issue or something.
00:17:25
Usually you're not injured for a half of football, so I mean, and to be fair, it might have been something where he was carrying a knife and, you know, didn't want to play him and let him rest up and see if that would work.
00:17:39
And then things went sideways and he said, All right, break break glass in case of emergency.
00:17:45
But the defense looked a very different unit with trail out there.
00:17:48
So it z kind of telling to see you know what that extra experience and extra size does in a secondary and how that makes the entire unit function a little differently.
00:18:01
Now imagine that with Kohli and Cisco, and you have a team that probably doesn't get the floor wiped with us this week or E.
00:18:12
I think you hit on something incredibly important with the sizes that Syracuse is not recruiting big size guys, uh, to come into the program.
00:18:21
They're recruiting kids that are too undersized to go to a bigger program but have tremendous athletic upside, which is why they're able to play this freshman.
00:18:28
But in especially in run defense, that's where that size, disadvantage and where that youth is really shown on a physical sense because they're running out there like again.
00:18:40
£180 is not small, but at the D one level, no matter who you are, £180 a ton of athleticism isn't gonna help you wrap up some somebody.
00:18:51
When offenses, goals just run straight through you, you have you have to be smarter than they are, and it's just it's never gonna work out the way you wanted. Thio.
00:19:03
You a what? He's got it here.
00:19:08
I forgot I had the tab open 63 to 13 and he's a cover corner like he's £213 and he's a cover corner and he's a lock down cover corner but that za cornerback, you know, Trail 1 98 Cisco 1 90.
00:19:25
Meanwhile, you get into jihad Carter 1 91.
00:19:27
You don't think £10 as much.
00:19:29
But when you've got, you know, £200 running back running at you, £10 matters on.
00:19:34
We've seen not to go back to like our dreams.
00:19:36
But like Cisco is a kill monger style, right? You know what? He's his own animal, but the's freshmen are not that kind of are not carrying around that same muscle muscle mass and proportions.
00:19:51
Just Rob Hanna came in for him at £40 less than him is going to look different on the field.
00:19:57
Um, on Greenwood is £180.
00:20:00
You know, that's slightly better, but it za really big difference.
00:20:07
And even like I remember And, you know, I hate the hate to go, you know, back in my day.
00:20:13
But like, I remember going from high school to D three and that jump was huge.
00:20:18
And yes, it was, you know, Central New York football two d three football, but to jump from even, you know, good Florida football or good Texas football to D one is still a huge jump, like the top 5% of every.
00:20:34
Everybody was the best player on their team, and most of them were the best player in their region.
00:20:39
So it zbig jump, and these guys are gonna have toe bring their way into it, and it's gonna take some doing.
00:20:46
It's not something that we're gonna flip a switch on right, and and to that point, it's a very much something that that Babers did hit on.
00:20:54
And he's been saying over and over every year.
00:20:56
And this is just a transition into the college sport is that players need to learn how to lose.
00:21:01
Ah, lot of these kids were the best players on their team, and because of that, they were very successful high school teams.
00:21:08
And they may be lost one or two games their senior year, maybe a handful others throughout the course of their time.
00:21:14
And they're probably going to lose more games this year than they've lost in their entire lives, and that there is a mentality shift that has to come with that.
00:21:22
It's an old sports cliche, but it is a very accurate one is that you need to kind of adjust your thinking and something you need to learn how to lose its that you need to learn how to adjust your thinking from a results oriented Saturday, once a week kind of mentality, too.
00:21:39
I have to have to look at this is a process.
00:21:41
I have to look at this in some kind of a growth mindset, and that kind of shift is something that everybody goes through when they're 18 years old.
00:21:50
It's just that not every other 18 year old is playing in front of national TV with a bunch of guys sitting in their homes talking about them as they go through that growth track right into idiots on Sunday evenings, talking about them way on the Internet.
00:22:05
Exactly.
00:22:06
And for the most part, what coaches try to dio is that they try to shield those young players from those conversations so that that way that growth can kind of happened internally.
00:22:15
It happens in practice.
00:22:17
It happens in film study.
00:22:18
It happens within the confines and with the controlled environment of the football team.
00:22:23
And what's happened is that that growth has just been thrown out onto a football field where they're expected to do poorly and it just makes everything much more difficult and I don't wanna harp on it too long.
00:22:36
But I do feel like we need to talk about what happened with Taj Harris because I feel like that's a perfect example of a player who, very early on in the Syracuse time, was just kind of thrust onto the field because there is nobody else like him and his growth.
00:22:52
Aside from being a football player, his growth as trying to learn the mental side of the game.
00:22:58
We've always questioned whether or not he's been on the same page with Tommy to be, you know, and you know and Tommy have always said that it's fine.
00:23:04
There's never been any red flags raised, however.
00:23:07
Way saw a lot of those same issues early in the year where Taj would hook and DaVita with pro deep or Tommy would throw the under out and Taj would keep on running.
00:23:18
And then we get to this game where Taj flips off the camera and will most likely be facing some kind of suspension because that's what happens when you flip off camera uh, in at the back end of a blowout, and I thought you were talking about his dropped touchdown pass.
00:23:33
But, um, there is also that, too, because Taj did not have a very like I get it.
00:23:39
I understand why you be frustrated sitting on the sidelines with their starting quarterback next to you in a boot.
00:23:44
Like I totally get why you're frustrated, why you would do like and he had a decent game.
00:23:48
And, you know, one of those things on when we shift more to the offensive side of the ball here past Taj.
00:23:54
I would like to talk about how Gilbert is kind of, um, yeah, iterating things differently, which I really enjoyed to see.
00:24:02
But yeah, the whole Taj thing.
00:24:04
It's like you said he was thrust into the limelight early.
00:24:07
Um, he's He's now with one man, which he's been the two men for the past two years.
00:24:18
And, yeah, I mean way never thought he was.
00:24:23
I guess this proved he was on the same page.
00:24:24
Is DeVito like there's no bad blood there like he was sitting right next to him, but like, yeah, you, you would expect slightly mawr out of ah, red shirt.
00:24:35
Junior is he is the same places to veto.
00:24:38
Yeah, he's either Richard Jr True, Junior, but yeah, e don't know.
00:24:44
Its's a really, really weird situation.
00:24:48
So it zits tough because and somebody has mentioned this to me and again, I don't wanna do old football cliches and you were in a football locker room and you understand this.
00:24:57
But it's it very much feels like there's been a leadership void since Dungy left, and part of that is that it was very clear that Dungy was the kind of guy that would just walk into a room, and the team was very clear with him being the leader.
00:25:11
And we've never, at least on our side of the room scene, the player who's vocally taking taking charge of the team.
00:25:21
We've seen it in a couple different ways.
00:25:23
We've seen Rhino really be, uh, just a fantastic on camera.
00:25:27
He's really personable, He's really charismatic, and we've seen DeVito before, put out in front of the reporters on a much more consistent basis than anybody else and handle the questions pretty well and say all the right things.
00:25:41
But for whatever reason, it definitely does seem like there's some kind of leadership vacuum that's not being filled in a way that's rallying together and again, It could very well be that this is the This is what forces some players to do that maybe we start seeing, like Kantar coup or Michael Jones on the defensive side.
00:26:00
Kind of take this opportunity to say things is my team.
00:26:03
Now I'm going.
00:26:04
I'm going to be the leader here.
00:26:05
Cisco has never really been a vocal leader.
00:26:07
He's always been a lead by example type.
00:26:09
But he's done for the year now and he's going pro.
00:26:12
So maybe the younger guys can step up on the offensive side of the ball.
00:26:16
Tommy is gonna have to be the sideline cheerleader.
00:26:19
He's gonna have to work with Rex and work with the offensive coaching staff to kind of learn while not playing.
00:26:27
And maybe that's what he needs a little bit more off instead of his freshman year, where he was basically on call because we all knew that every time Dungy talked.
00:26:35
There's a really good chance that Tommy was coming into the game, so this season is not a complete wash for a lot of things that we might not be able to measure on a statute.
00:26:47
It is important moving into the future of this program and into the future of what Dino is trying to build here.
00:26:54
E think very keeper in front about listening to someone that that leadership from that leadership thing, I really would like to.
00:27:03
Um it's weird because, like you mentioned you have, you know, you had the Eric Dungy's who was the heart on the sleeve kind of guy, which is, you know, effectively what Taj is doing.
00:27:14
Like he's playing with his heart on his sleeve like everything is being laid out there.
00:27:19
What you see is what you get with Taj, and I apologize for my constant had maneuver room, but I realized it was kind of shaving my face and things were looking weird.
00:27:27
But like you have the vocal leader with that, I don't know where and again, neither a single locker room.
00:27:37
We don't know what the hell is going on, but you know, in the past, 20 wanna make it very clear that this is a year where we do not have access the way that we would normally have in a season where we don't where there's no reporters being able to talk to this guy person, once or twice, make changes a whole lot of the information that we have and even even beyond that, so much is like even on game days.
00:28:02
You know, Christian, I would be up at the dome like in the press box or, you know, in the press conference after or even pregame down on the field like there's there's a lot that we would be doing in a normal year that we're not able to do this year.
00:28:16
Yeah, we get the zoom on the zoom calls after the game, but it's you don't you don't get that same finger on the pulse of what's going on in the locker room.
00:28:25
Um, that said, you know, a couple years ago it was that your Franklin, that was the emotional part of the team.
00:28:32
It wasn't, but he was also, and what I wanted toe kind of bring up was you always have that heart on your sleeve kind of guy, and I think Taj is kind of like on the offense.
00:28:41
Taj is kind of that, like he lays it all out there and what you're going to see is what you're gonna get, but everything that he's feeling, he's tryingto get people going.
00:28:52
Get get that emotion out there.
00:28:55
Um, that was kind of the Dungy that was, You know, you see the quote unquote rod guys out there.
00:29:03
But you also have those backroom leaders like Desire Franklin.
00:29:06
Like Kendall Coleman last year.
00:29:08
Um, like the guys who aren't, you know, pumping up, pumping up the crowd and getting everything moving.
00:29:15
But there, uh, just a important and like you said way think Cisco was kind of that guy again, we have no idea.
00:29:24
But the thing moving forward is that you can hopefully see some of these young kids develop into that role.
00:29:32
And you don't need to be the over the top.
00:29:35
You just need like there's there's a lot of different types of leaders out there, especially in team sports.
00:29:40
So yeah, and I think sire is a perfect example of that is that we saw what he did this offseason, where he was basically the Indian in the Indianapolis Colts public face on a lot of the efforts that they were doing to talk about social movements that were going on that their players wanted to be a part of.
00:29:58
You have Zaire who's not a starter, not a entrenched veteran, not somebody who's been around.
00:30:05
He was basically the anti.
00:30:07
When you have a leader on the football team, you look for three different types.
00:30:10
Look for the guy who's been there forever.
00:30:11
You look for the guy who's been around the league forever, and you look for the really good player.
00:30:15
And Zaire was none of those, and he was definitively still the leader.
00:30:18
And he's a captain on the Colts this year, which again, I just speaks Thio.
00:30:22
What a special type of leader that he is.
00:30:26
And there are still some young players on this roster who are going to be in those upperclassmen roles.
00:30:31
Who knows? I air if you know, you know, I'm sure desires around the program in the off season.
00:30:36
There's an opportunity there.
00:30:38
I think, where we're going to see a lot of these young players that you and I have been so high on start to kind of take over these roles and really make it their team.
00:30:47
And that's where way we'll talk about this a little bit later on like what the future of Syracuse football is and what it means to like have your team versus somebody else's team.
00:30:57
Um, but I want to talk about the positives of this game first, and one of the things that I want to focus on was on offense.
00:31:04
You were alluding to it earlier.
00:31:05
I thought the play calling was significantly better, especially in the sense that there were a lot of third and manageable.
00:31:14
Syracuse, up until this week, had been putting themselves in a lot of third and longs, Ah, lot of positions where they couldn't necessarily move the chains effectively.
00:31:24
And what we saw this week was that they just didn't convert like they were trying to run the ball, like on a third and three.
00:31:30
If you can't run the ball for a first down, it's the same as a third and eight.
00:31:34
The defense knows you're going to pass.
00:31:36
They could sell out against the past and you're not able to do anything.
00:31:41
And so we saw a lot of failed third downs because there he's tried to run the ball.
00:31:45
But they were at least in a position where running the ball was an option for them, which has not been something that we've seen in previous weeks.
00:31:52
And you were really you were really kind of interested invested in this play calling, um, improvement.
00:31:58
And I think you can probably speak to the play calling improvement way better than I could.
00:32:02
Yeah, I mean, it's something.
00:32:05
And again, another one of those caveats of what we went into the season with.
00:32:09
We went in with two new coordinators you went in with who didn't have a full preseason or spring camp to work with their guys.
00:32:17
So very, very different situation.
00:32:21
White being a true rookie at the coordinator spot.
00:32:27
He's what was He was the He was a cornerbacks coach, some sort of cornerbacks coach.
00:32:33
Yeah, and he was like assistant defensive coach.
00:32:36
Like number two, he was always the number two guy, never that easy.
00:32:40
So now that he's, you know, in that full blown mode, he's going to have some growing pains.
00:32:44
And what we've seen with this run defense is definitely growing pain.
00:32:48
If in you know, a week or two, you don't snap out of this, then you start Thio kind of question things, but he's It's the first time he's been doing this like it's tough toe.
00:33:00
Go from to 100 go right to, you know, a P five coordinator position.
00:33:06
Um, so that's such a big That's a big jump on the coaching side.
00:33:10
Yeah, it's huge.
00:33:12
Um, but then on the offensive side, you have Sterling Gilbert.
00:33:16
Who? Well, he has the pedigree of Yes, he was No.
00:33:20
See, at Texas? Yes, he was.
00:33:21
No.
00:33:22
See, a U.
00:33:23
S F.
00:33:24
He was the head coach of McNeese last year.
00:33:25
Um, he he also doesn't know this personnel, and he didn't have a spring to work with this personnel.
00:33:31
Um, he did seem to adjust some things I really liked off the bat.
00:33:37
It wasn't, you know, we came up 1st.
00:33:40
1st drive. We came out in two tight end sets.
00:33:42
Um, and this couple other points, if I remember right, we came out in either too tight end sets or tight end fullback, which effectively for us is too tight ends because that's what they are.
00:33:54
Um, we ended up doing that and utilizing some of those hack.
00:33:59
It definitely had a couple of catches.
00:34:01
Benson had some action.
00:34:03
Oh, I really really like to see that you had even some uniqueness.
00:34:10
Like pulling tag down into the slide on a couple of plays, working in more across the middle, working general routes across the middle a lot more.
00:34:17
Um, yes.
00:34:19
I think it was predicated on the fact that Rex doesn't have the arm that Tommy does.
00:34:24
And you can't throw those 10 year digs.
00:34:26
You can't throw those out routes.
00:34:27
You can't work the sideline nearly as much as you could have with DeVito, but at the same time, Imagine if we'd have had this more well rounded passing package with the veto.
00:34:40
Zerman Yeah, I think that that over the middle thing is something that I really wanted.
00:34:46
I I think we'll all have to kind of contribute to it, but I really want to dig into it more, because there, uh, one of Rexes throws that should have been picked off but didn't get the Liberty player.
00:35:00
Wasn't able to keep his feet inbounds.
00:35:02
Wasn't under thrown deep ball.
00:35:03
His one interception was an out route that the defensive back just camped out underneath because he knew Rex wasn't gonna be able to make that throw on those were both right, great play, but like if I'm if I'm every other defensive coordinator on Syracuse schedule, I'm literally saying that if they're going to, if he's going to run out, Route just just came out underneath it because the quarterback can't make the throat.
00:35:26
And I really appreciate one of the things that Rex does do better than Tommy is that he goes through his progression and he uses the middle of the field.
00:35:34
I think it was Christian.
00:35:35
I don't know if Christian wrote about it, but he definitely mentioned it early when we were first to game.
00:35:40
The pro football focus that's was that DeVito just doesn't use the middle of the field Syrian and always been a thing of him.
00:35:47
Yeah, and I think it's It's a weird thing with him because e think it's a combination of function of him locking into his reads on the offense being designed to use the outside of the field.
00:35:58
So the way the whole offense is predicated is you work the outside of the field and then check down in when DeVito doesn't check down.
00:36:07
You don't end up working that middle it all so unless something is called specifically as your primary readers coming across the middle, you don't really see that.
00:36:15
And, you know, a couple of these you had some really nice ends, a couple of post routes, uh, some really weird drag routes across the middle that we're very unique and guys were open.
00:36:28
I know quickly caught one across the middle.
00:36:30
Taj definitely had two or three that were like, put him, put him in the middle.
00:36:36
Yes, people are bigger in the middle.
00:36:37
Taj is not big, but he's much more elusive and quicker than any linebacker he's going to be. Next.
00:36:44
It was It was Ryan Ryan.
00:36:47
John was Ryan Johnson, R J.
00:36:49
Writes R J.
00:36:50
Underscore writes on Twitter, who literally was like, Why don't you make the entire offense out of Taj Harris like Hey, is he is the most player That Syracuse house? Yeah.
00:37:02
Oh, absolutely.
00:37:04
And you watch like it.
00:37:06
It's zits.
00:37:07
Weird, because when he when he catches the ball across the middle or when he catches the ball in traffic, it's literally like someone who doesn't know how to play Madden playing Madden.
00:37:15
And it's works like he's just matching the spin move button and somehow he bounces, love people and it works.
00:37:23
And just get him the ball in space.
00:37:26
Let him do stupid things.
00:37:27
E don't know.
00:37:29
It's just take advantage.
00:37:31
John has always been the thing of saying that like the Syracuse, the prototype favors Number one receiver has been like the 62 guy that can just sprint down the field, outjump anybody.
00:37:44
And Taj is in that world right now.
00:37:46
And that is not where Taj Harris is that he's got a much more yes to go up and get out.
00:37:55
No, he's very much and like, I don't know if he has anywhere near this talent, but he's very much like an Antonio Brown in college, where he is a very.
00:38:03
He's still very good at catching the ball in traffic.
00:38:06
He still can fight for the ball like everybody else, but, like he should not be your deep, deep slot guy yet, like he just does not have those skills yet. Slash.
00:38:16
He doesn't have that size like you need to find different ways to get the ball underneath.
00:38:20
And I appreciate the offense adapting to what Rex conduce, which is throw those passes over the middle school and putting Taj in a position to do it.
00:38:29
One of things, Um, as a Pittsburgh Steelers fan.
00:38:31
One of the things the Steelers offense has done really well this year.
00:38:34
Um, and again, Tony, I'm not making this up of my own.
00:38:38
Tony Romo had this this'll week where basically, their entire passing offense is different versions of triangles.
00:38:45
They just move a different route triangle at different parts of the field, where you have two receivers running, running some kind of a route.
00:38:54
Yeah, and they have somebody underneath it and just move where that triangle is.
00:38:59
You move the different players around.
00:39:00
But that basic formation allows skill players that the Steelers have to at least create some kind of separation.
00:39:07
And if all goes to hell, you have a big guy running underneath, and Syracuse has the players to actually do that.
00:39:12
We've got two big, tight and catch, and they've got a ton of receivers who could be fast enough to create separation and catch the ball in traffic and still make something happen.
00:39:20
And I think one of the other weird conundrums with size at wide receiver we have is right now and quickly starting to emerge.
00:39:29
But, like, you know, for the longest time are 12 is Taj Areas.
00:39:33
And I came Johnson who body wise air effectively the same person.
00:39:37
E I mean, Taj is taller, but they're they're just They're small quick guys and we don't have the towel.
00:39:45
The Ishmael, like the guys that have thrived the Custis last year, like the guys that have thrived as being that go up and get a guy in Baber system.
00:39:55
Um, you know, do we ever get a healthy had Hendrix? I don't know.
00:39:59
Do we get? You know, Cheryl Johnson coming down with some more, you know, actually catches.
00:40:04
I also don't know, but yeah, it's it's a weird one.
00:40:10
Hopefully, hopefully, we can figure something out there soon, but it's a position that has a very high ceiling, but we're also seeing as a very low Yeah, as opposed to some other positions where you know the floor is pretty high, the ceiling is pretty low, and I'm thinking specifically of the linebackers right now just because they're so young, like the floor.
00:40:31
I feel like I feel like those linebackers air playing better than we expected them to and also worse than we hoped they could.
00:40:41
Yeah, but that's also again, youth's gonna happen.
00:40:45
And that's and that's the struggle this year, um, way were able to do a full recap segment without actually diving into all the ugliness of the game.
00:40:55
And I'm very proud of us.
00:40:57
I think that deserves some credit for that.
00:40:59
And so we're gonna take a real quick break here to talk about our favorite sponsor, who is sticking with us for another month, even the football team's terrible home field apparel.
00:41:09
They make the comfy ist T shirts.
00:41:11
They have an amazing Syracuse line.
00:41:13
They're launching pretty much every SEC school at this point just launched this past weekend.
00:41:18
Yeah, they did Florida State the week before.
00:41:20
They did, uh, North Carolina A and T, so that that's the thing is that they do in North Carolina A and T one week, and then the next week they're going to Florida State.
00:41:27
It's fantastic, Um, some amazing retro logos on there if you're looking for weird mascots, if you're looking for script, not just Syracuse but every other school, because script is just better.
00:41:38
That's just how it works.
00:41:39
I can say like a zoo.
00:41:41
You can tell I am not rocking my home field today because I wore it too much.
00:41:45
Um, literally.
00:41:47
I had it on for the stream yesterday.
00:41:49
And then I was supposed to do laundry last night.
00:41:50
Yeah, um, low and behold, it was still 30 from last week.
00:41:54
So I gotta work on that.
00:41:56
There's Yeah, I'm moving into the position of you go through you like your T shirt phases like I got a lot of old T shirts from college that have got retired.
00:42:04
And now a lot of those T shirts from, like, end of college, too.
00:42:08
Years of life that I have lived me to get thrown out.
00:42:10
So I need some T shirts, and I've just decided that my home field thing is I'm gonna get all the ones with the weird, wacky mascots on them.
00:42:15
So I got a two lane wave on it, got the feet of the goat trying to find some other fun old school mascots, and they've got plenty of I think my next purchase is actually going to be the North Dakota State Bison.
00:42:27
Oh, yeah, the and not the not the actual like the wacky mascot they had back in the, you know, with 60 seventies thirties, wherever the hell it was.
00:42:38
Uh, there's one that's just a outline of a buffalo like an actual bison, and it just is N.
00:42:44
B s.
00:42:45
You and I don't know why it's on a yellow shirt and I'm just like, That's weird and I like it.
00:42:50
I honestly thought about not to complete the rail is with not serious to talk, but when I was in Syracuse at school, I worked for sidearm sports, which is for big company.
00:43:00
Up there on, they had North and my job was customer support, and I always worked.
00:43:06
Saturday morning before Syracuse football, Neuters and North Dakota State always had, like they were the biggest streaming school, and one time North Dakota State went down for like, five minutes.
00:43:19
And there are so many North Dakota State football things.
00:43:22
Oh my God, they They crashed our outlook because of the number of emails that were coming in a five minute period.
00:43:31
And from that moment I was from that moment, I was like, I'm gonna pay attention to this football very clearly.
00:43:36
There is a lot of people who care about this team in North Dakota that I knew nothing about prior to this weekend.
00:43:42
It turns out that they're really good at football, did not know that and apparently have really good classic mascots that home field advantage of.
00:43:50
So if you'd like to buy yourself a North Dakota shirt or a Syracuse shirt, head on over to home field apparel and make sure you use the promo code, Nunes and U.
00:43:59
N E s right there 10% off your entire order.
00:44:03
Go ahead by his main T shirts as you want.
00:44:05
You get 10% off and they'll come and they'll be the company's things that you own, which is fantastic cause we're moving into fall, especially in central New York, which means that you want comfy, warm things.
00:44:14
They have lots of comfy, warm thing.
00:44:19
So let's not talk about something comfy and warm.
00:44:22
And let's talk about Clemson.
00:44:23
Yeah, um, do we have to? I think I think this, like for one, everybody knows what we're getting into with clubs, and I don't think anyone really wants a by the numbers.
00:44:33
What is going to happen to Syracuse this weekend? Because even the most optimistic.
00:44:38
Like Chuck, Chuck probably wouldn't think that this is going to go well, Um, like orange Booth and easily like the most optimistic Syracuse fan I know.
00:44:52
And there's no chance in hell anything is going pretty this weekend.
00:44:55
Um, Travis at TM like May rush for all 700 yards if they keep him in more than, like, three drives.
00:45:03
So they you and I were talking pregame and I had this pre stream.
00:45:08
And I had this weird thought that Travis ET en had, like, $1000 purpose yards against Syracuse in his career. He does not.
00:45:14
He's averaging 7.
00:45:15
5 yards per carry in his career against Syracuse with four touchdowns in three games.
00:45:22
Not great for Syracuse, and he's arguably the running back who some team is going to take in the top five.
00:45:29
Even though running backs don't go in the top five anymore, you know? Yeah, he's like, literally the only person that is going to like that would be absolutely guaranteed to go higher than him in a draft.
00:45:42
Is his teammate.
00:45:45
Oh, yeah. Trevor Lawrence.
00:45:46
Yeah.
00:45:47
Not Rex Bell Pepper.
00:45:50
Bizarre. Rex Bell Pepper.
00:45:52
Yeah, they We're just gonna talk about hair.
00:45:57
I can't talk about hair products.
00:45:58
I don't really know how they how to keep track of hair.
00:46:01
But that's really the only thing that that's the only competitive advantage Syracuse might hold a candle to Clemson at.
00:46:06
It is, it's not great.
00:46:09
So you and I kind of made this decision pre stream.
00:46:12
That's our clubs.
00:46:13
In preview, we're not gonna talk about it.
00:46:15
Instead, there has been a lot of talk about the coaching staff.
00:46:20
There's been a lot of talk about how Hot Dino seat is.
00:46:25
He didn't help matters in his postgame by trotting out the same belief with some limited evidence that took place in years prior.
00:46:34
On that note.
00:46:35
Before we go beyond that, I do want to touch on If you read.
00:46:38
If you read the full transcript from the presser, it wasn't as bad as the clips made.
00:46:44
It seem like how how they had to edit it down to actually convey the clips in context.
00:46:51
Like if you go back and watch the presser it Dean O's coach speaking.
00:46:55
But I don't think he's trying to make excuses assed Muchas it.
00:46:59
It sounded when you put it on paper, so that at least gave me some hope and pause for, you know, not complete insanity.
00:47:07
Moving forward, maybe.
00:47:10
Yeah, and I think, Well, I think I think part of the problem is that again he's dealing with a roster that is decimated beyond what you could build in any four year period.
00:47:26
Like there's there's exactly there is no way in just for anyone listening, we literally went down this at one point in the slack during the game.
00:47:38
Uh, Adams, opt out.
00:47:41
Howard, opt out.
00:47:43
Garrison Johnson, who was probably third or fourth string transferred prior to this season.
00:47:48
Uh, Jordan injured Pierre got beat out by Tucker.
00:47:58
It's like Okay, guys, can we catch a break here? Know anybody cannot catch a pure It's it like, and I think that that's important is that some people are going like, Well, he's had four or five years of recruiting like this.
00:48:13
This whole roster is his.
00:48:15
Syracuse is never going to recruit at a level where we're going to be deep enough to go down to our seventh string running back and be good, like that's just not the way that you're ever going to recruit.
00:48:25
There's very few teams in the world that will and were called in Alabama.
00:48:30
Maybe Notre Dame, but those two.
00:48:34
So it's playing Cooper.
00:48:35
Let's was literally our seventh string running back.
00:48:38
Yeah, so there's again.
00:48:41
That's like a whole And that's the whole thing, that eyes not getting talked about enough because this injury is just terrible.
00:48:48
But I do think that in general, what Dino is trying to just generally get out and what we as a fan base have to do is for the rest of the season.
00:48:59
This is now a growth mindset, process oriented, week to week experience.
00:49:05
We're not looking at wins and losses were looking at specific areas.
00:49:11
How can we How are we growing? How are we improving? How are certain players growing into certain roles? And that's not necessarily, always fun to watch.
00:49:21
We're not gonna make a hashtag and put it on T shirts, but it is kind of the reality of where we're at and I the quarterback position is very interesting.
00:49:35
John had a great breakdown earlier this week.
00:49:37
Rex is definitely playing this week.
00:49:40
He played against Liberty.
00:49:41
He's playing against Clemson.
00:49:44
Whether he plays beyond that, who knows? And I think that is something worth watching, definitely, and I think he will.
00:49:53
I mean, he'll definitely play beyond that.
00:49:56
The question will be how much and in what role, like he may be the especially, you know, right after the Duke game there, right after the Clemson game.
00:50:06
Sorry, I looked up at my have a calendar up here that said, the Duke game was next.
00:50:11
I was like, That's not right.
00:50:12
I need to update that right after the Clemson game.
00:50:15
Yeah, does his role go from starter and playing the whole game, too? Starter and play until we get to a situation where it makes sense to run out Morgan or Markovich or Summers, I guess way haven't seen him dressed in around so on.
00:50:36
And it by all accounts.
00:50:39
Last week during warmups, Morgan was taking the twos.
00:50:42
Eso it looks like these, even though there's the or it looks like he might be the, um the bigger or I guess, three or a instead of hors d.
00:50:55
Um, which is it Zade? Because it's a guy who's got one year of quarterbacking under his belt.
00:51:02
Hey, put up good numbers He put up solid numbers in high school, uh, in his one year, but he was, I think you know, the standard high school athlete role, where it's like running back receiver, do what you can on.
00:51:17
Then his senior year, he was the Q B and didn't you know he did work on his feet, but it wasn't like he was a from first quarterback.
00:51:26
So it'll it'll be interesting to see how that plays in.
00:51:31
You know, if we need someone with a little more mobility, do we go there instead of Rex? I'm sure you know Rex might have better pocket presence at this point.
00:51:39
We really don't know what we're going to see, but we're probably or we should be easing these kids into it and getting them some reps.
00:51:47
Getting them some looks moving forward and kind of speaking about, like moving forward and easing kids into Reps.
00:51:55
Three Offensive line is something that we somehow haven't talked about yet.
00:51:59
Even though that is literally, this shows brand offensive line talk.
00:52:03
Uh, Aaron Service surveys did not have a good game from what is now the third week in a row against probably the worst team that needs played in that stretch.
00:52:17
And if you're building towards the future, he won't be a part of the team next year.
00:52:25
And there are players.
00:52:28
Oh, technically, could, because of the 2020 nothing matters and therefore the account.
00:52:33
Yeah.
00:52:34
There are younger players on the depth chart who could allow for some shuffling.
00:52:39
But like you, him leaving would result in Not just like, we're slotting somebody in you.
00:52:45
And we'd be moving some bodies around, period.
00:52:47
I would think the way we've seen things things go at this point.
00:52:51
The likely if service went down or anything happened there? Um, I don't know.
00:52:57
Do you weigh? Haven't seen Mark Petrie.
00:53:00
We haven't seen um oh, God of a kid that came in, uh, German? Uh huh.
00:53:10
Petrie Isn't Petrie one of the Germans? Max, man.
00:53:13
Yeah, Max man is the tight end.
00:53:16
Yeah, Yeah.
00:53:17
Maximilian Bang.
00:53:18
Like all name team guaranteed.
00:53:20
Uh, but Dr Petrie, good recruiting graphics that we all looked at had so much fun with Ming Ming Moon.
00:53:30
Oh, deep marbles out there.
00:53:33
Uh, but yeah, back to tackles.
00:53:37
Like Anthony Red went down to the season ending injury before the year which is a big hit to depth there.
00:53:42
Um, Pat Davis.
00:53:44
I don't know what's going on.
00:53:45
Whether he's healthy, injured, what's what's up.
00:53:47
I'll probably try and scan the sidelines because now that nobody's in the stands, we get to see more sideline cuts, which is always nice.
00:53:54
Um, but, yeah, it's tackles a weird one because, like you had Veteran who was a starter there last year and then moved inside, do you take a kid who's a year more seasoned and try and move him back out there? And then you know Joshua Loa, who was the backup guard a couple weeks ago on, is listed as the backup center.
00:54:14
Do you play him at center? Is he ready? Um, there's there's a lot of ifs from I got from my Cavanagh and I.
00:54:22
I really don't know what the right answer is or if there's a right answer.
00:54:26
Um, but I would assume something has to change.
00:54:31
Like this is the second year in a row that we've seen a lot of shuffling, like way swap their tackles like you don't swap your tackles midseason.
00:54:40
Normally, Um, yeah, it za really strange strange position at this point between the injuries and between E guess, underperforming expectations.
00:54:55
So I guess I may be over expecting things just because of staring at the offensive line too much.
00:55:02
But now, but that's also what the coaching staff is doing.
00:55:06
And at some point, if you're going to put young futures of the program back there, you need to have the offensive line.
00:55:14
Short period.
00:55:16
You cannot do what happened with the veto last Dart last year and have him get shell shocked in in the first few games of constantly dealing with pressure.
00:55:28
I don't know.
00:55:29
I don't know how do the mental side of the game, because I'm dealing with no line in front? Well, I mean, next year we get Chris Flashback and Dakota Davis back, and it's It's a very It's a very different line for one, but it's also one that you know should improve by adding veterans back into the mix.
00:55:52
Well, some of these people get some playing time.
00:55:54
Unfortunately, we lose Rhino, who is just I did see his officially listed on the depth chart is offensive line, tight end and fullback, which is possibly the greatest depth.
00:56:05
That's that's the greatest tagline in the history of any sort of offensive lineman's position.
00:56:13
**** out. That's great.
00:56:15
It should've just had to slash d line, too.
00:56:17
Um, yeah, but actually, yeah, um, he will at at the end of this Syracuse career, you will get the exclusive interview with him to just be like, Dude, we're gonna dive into the defects is the nose of this, and we're going to go into how you transition all the way around.
00:56:36
And it's gonna be He's a great interview.
00:56:39
He's like, very charismatic kid who understands, like, how to talk to reporters and give not just generic coach speak quotes like he's fantastic.
00:56:48
Adopted.
00:56:49
Yeah.
00:56:50
Hello, you, Mike, and have him bleed.
00:56:53
He's done it before.
00:56:55
I will never forget the La Familia video where they're like, where they introduced the new uniforms and they go to City Hall for, like, the national Syracuse stands.
00:57:06
Just Rhino might.
00:57:07
It's just him all day talking, and he he is the only person they're having a good time, which is very stereotypical of those dumb athlete events.
00:57:17
But I appreciate that.
00:57:19
He was just like, yeah, this is this is my time to shine.
00:57:23
Um, one other position.
00:57:25
One more position that I think that we kind of have to look at, and we alluded to it earlier, and it's on the offensive side of the ball again.
00:57:32
We need to figure out what the wide receiver position is outside of Tosh Harris, because at this point, Taj is the only person who has done anything.
00:57:39
Hendricks was supposed to be the next person, but we haven't seen him on the field.
00:57:45
We haven't seen him do anything.
00:57:48
It's to the point where I don't think that Hendrix is going to suit up for the Orange anytime soon may be ever.
00:57:57
So you have to start looking deeper down the depth chart of guys that we're all really high on.
00:58:01
But they're really young, and I don't know if they really have figured out what kind of receiver they wanna be like.
00:58:08
Anthony really has done some nice stuff, uh, doing seem right ounce and doing nice little routes where he kind of wiggles in between the safeties.
00:58:18
Yet he very rarely catches the ball.
00:58:20
He called one against Liberty, which is great.
00:58:22
It's good to see he's probably dropped two or three points and drops he's early in the year and I don't know.
00:58:29
Is that Is that a function of him? And DeVito not working well on the same page? Like is DeVito's ball hard for him to catch? Like there's there's weird idiosyncrasies of the quarterback receiver thing Like I don't know, You're gonna have to figure it out.
00:58:46
Uh, some whiteouts are game changers with one Q B and not with another.
00:58:51
Um, hopefully he turns into something that can be for the record at Hendrix.
00:58:57
Did have a tackle against liberty.
00:58:59
Must have been a gun around palm formations or something like that.
00:59:04
Fascinating.
00:59:05
Got me.
00:59:07
I didn't see him.
00:59:09
Yeah, yeah, but 63 to 20.
00:59:12
I'd love to see more of them.
00:59:14
That is.
00:59:15
That is a body that way.
00:59:17
Now, we did have a sighting of a youngun late in the game in Justin Baron.
00:59:24
So who that is? Somebody.
00:59:26
I did not expect to see it all this, you know, But he e was going to say you had a case of the drops used to, but it was more e Think the defender got a hand on it and not get loose.
00:59:37
But, you know, Rand solid, tight route across the middle.
00:59:40
And hopefully you know it's 64208 Another another large body that can go up and get things hopefully and somebody out of the backfield that we've kind of and not a true receiver.
00:59:53
But we saw tribal pain Uh, get some work as a We're not like I don't necessarily know what you call him.
01:00:02
He is somebody who you try to get the ball into his hands and weird swing passes and different options.
01:00:07
Another young guy that the staff clearly feels confident enough to throw out there, um, but definitely should not be playing in a normal situation.
01:00:15
I mean again, Rock head, 6 ft, probably £180 soaking wet with it like cinder block tied to him.
01:00:24
Um, probably shouldn't be out there this year if he does get out there this year.
01:00:30
Well, he's out there this year, but like, if you could make the most of it and kind of learned from it and then put on Cem put on some muscle learning the system, you know, it's it's going to be beneficial, but we're going to have to, and I guess That's the that might be to take away from the second segment is all of this that we're talking about all this hypothetical.
01:00:51
It's going to be beneficial, but we got to get through it, and that's that's the ultimate like we need to see that there is a light at the end of the tunnel and hopefully, you know, we start seeing some of these kids start to take up a little start toe, you know, fit into the system, start to do a little bit.
01:01:11
Maura's far as improvement, impressing that sort of thing.
01:01:18
Okay, we may not see the winds lost results, but as long as we can see iterative change and step change in what's going on, I think moving forward, that puts us in the right position.
01:01:31
Yeah, and I definitely think that there are some games coming up that are going to be better than other others like Clemson is going to be is gonna be the bottom of the barrel, like that's that's gonna I feel rough and it's not gonna be fun to watch, and I don't think Clemson is going to go 100% so like it's not going to be 100 nothing blowout, but it's not gonna be anything pleasant to watch.
01:01:56
But there's still a lot of other A C C games to play against.
01:02:00
Not great a C C.
01:02:03
Teams that I'm not saying Syracuse could win, but there is a higher ceiling that they could potentially reach just by, You know, something goes right and they figure it out, and that team is ill equipped to handle it.
01:02:19
And we're not just talking about Louisville, Uh, like that I do not understand at all.
01:02:25
Next to Florida State, Florida states the most like go home.
01:02:29
You're drunk type situation because it's like the first four weeks they look literal hot garbage and then roll the number five team in the country.
01:02:38
Because why not? Because Florida State and when those five star ridiculously talented athletes actually click, you're gonna be right back on the way.
01:02:49
Yeah, so they've got We've got a nooner against Clemson and then Wake Forest, Boston College, Louisville.
01:02:57
Those those air three games against three teams that don't know what they are.
01:03:01
We don't know what we are.
01:03:03
It's gonna be a great opportunity for growth, and then you finish out the season against North Carolina State and Notre Dame.
01:03:09
Notre Dame is basically clubs in 20 and North Carolina State.
01:03:15
We'll see what happens in those three experimental games before we say anything about North Carolina State.
01:03:20
I mean, they're starting quarterback just broke his fibula, so that's probably not great.
01:03:25
Yeah, there's a chance that we could like, honestly, these I'm this next week is gonna be really hard.
01:03:32
But the next three weeks after this week could be really interesting.
01:03:37
If you're like a called football nerd and you just like all right, wins and losses don't matter.
01:03:43
I just wanna watch what the heck Syracuse is doing on, you know, roster building standpoint.
01:03:48
Like there is something to watch.
01:03:50
It's just not what you normally watch football for.
01:03:54
Yeah, that sounds right.
01:03:56
Like you're gonna have to go deeper into the weeds.
01:03:59
I'm sure most people aren't the absolute, you know, uh, deep diagnosis that we are.
01:04:05
I was trying to avoid saying sadist, but I'm the one who re watches every get I've taken over the Castillo mantle and again as we mentioned before, you never want to go full, Castillo.
01:04:18
So s oh, Yeah, I'm gonna end up watching back the offense again, but I think I think if people shift their expectations again, you know, if you're on the fire Babers wagon, jump back on after next year.
01:04:38
Like, if you wanna criticize everything next year, go for it. I don't care.
01:04:44
I understand.
01:04:46
I totally agree.
01:04:47
Is seats getting warmer? But for one, they're never gonna make the move.
01:04:51
This year we've gone eight million ways over this on the site as to how and why.
01:04:58
But there's really no, there's no way that they're going to fire Baker's this year.
01:05:04
And they shouldn't, um, being dealt the hand that he's dealt currently, uh, and the highest rating recruiting class in, like two decades potentially coming in.
01:05:16
And you know, the first thing that people always poo poo on that is Oh, it's still the bottom of the A C C.
01:05:22
And it's like, Yeah, but imagine where we were before this.
01:05:26
Like it might be the way cc with a very bad recruiting class, right? We can just get those glasses up.
01:05:33
There's the potential to do it again.
01:05:34
So yeah, it Z, it's going to be a building year It's going to be something where you have to revert expectations to something slightly different and, you know, jump back on your soapbox after next year.
01:05:46
But nothing's going to change this year.
01:05:48
Nor should it.
01:05:49
And hopefully Babers and staff can take a lot of what's going on this year and turn it into something positive.
01:05:56
100%.
01:05:57
Andi, this is how you and I take a absolute downer of a week and turn it into an hour Sunday night show where we could literally keep going on this stuff.
01:06:08
You a football status thistles what we dio.
01:06:13
But we're gonna wrap it here.
01:06:14
We're going to save some for next week because probably gonna talk about the club's game for five minutes before we go into everything, you know? I mean, we could always go full Syracuse go down to Death Valley, and so how come out with the wind? I'm not putting my house on it, but there's always just I do think that there is a very good chance that Dubow and Trevor Lawrence and Travis et en and their entire team just go.
01:06:39
We're gonna go 75% in this game and Syracuse comes out of 100%.
01:06:43
So the first half is somewhat interesting.
01:06:45
And then the second half is when they're like, Oh, yeah, we got a kind of ramping up way.
01:06:50
Flip the switches back on.
01:06:51
Yeah, So that and this is this is what comes and does.
01:06:56
They actually charge up and they get better as the season goes on because they know when toe lay off the gas and not get hurt.
01:07:02
Um, with that being said, I wish I knew.
01:07:06
Um, but that being said, thank you for sticking with us.
01:07:11
Thank you.
01:07:12
Thank you.
01:07:13
To all the Syracuse football diehards out are in our same position and are stuck with this disease that is following Syracuse football to the day that we die.
01:07:23
This is not the worst that they can get.
01:07:26
We all lived through the Greg bigger gears, and we survived.
01:07:30
There is still like, you know, thankfully, I was at least over TSF o e.
01:07:40
I am so glad I didn't I didn't know Syracuse.
01:07:43
Then I feel like I've been saved through the proxy.
01:07:46
Shame that I have felt is too much.
01:07:50
Yeah, it's every bit as fun as you think. It would be.
01:07:55
We're not going back there.
01:07:57
There will be a good day at the end of this.
01:07:59
I'm sure Syracuse will win a game that they're not supposed to, because that's college football.
01:08:03
And we will be there to cover it when it happens.
01:08:05
Steve, thank you so much.
01:08:08
Things has been a lot of fun and thank you to everybody who listened.
01:08:14
E s go Orange go orange you guys next week.

00:07:18
Yeah.
00:07:19
Must e.
00:07:24
R.
