but good morning, everyone.
And welcome deputy radio live It is Thursday, October 15th were steamrolling into week six.
We got quite a bit of stuff to talk about today.
Um, some breaking news this morning.
Some news we didn't quite get to yesterday and, you know, a bit of a celebration today.
So without further ado, though, I do not want to drop the ball on this one like I did yesterday.
So I'm going to say a big s my buddy Mike.
And you know, it's great to be here on a Thursday morning.
Doubly great to be here, because not only are we celebrating an anniversary, but we're also celebrating a birthday.
That's right, folks.
My good friend, my co host, my best good friend has a birthday today on October 15th and happy birthday.
Many, many happy returns.
I will not reveal the age.
I will not do that.
I will be very, very mindful and very respectful of your I will respect your fishes.
But in any case, seriously, um, it's been been a great It's been a great ride, you know, working with you now for how many years has it been? We've lost count.
How many years? Well, that that's our old Yeah.
That, too, is also sign of how great it is.
Why so much? You can't even keep track of it.
But not all kidding aside, but a very big happy birthday.
And, uh, of course, we're celebrating an anniversary of sorts here.
And if you see radio live today no, no, of course.
And, uh, I I actually have already revealed my age.
I tweeted out a picture of Byron Dafoe earlier.
So anyone who knows who that is knows what number you want for the Bruins, and that is Thea age I am at.
So I'm transitioning out of the Patrick Waugh, uh, age.
So No, I appreciate that again.
It's it's it's fun I enjoy.
You know, it's funny when you're a kid.
Obviously, you know, your your birthday.
You you probably start looking forward to it like, months, months in advance.
You know what I mean? You got it circled on the calendar.
You know, you're you can't wait.
You're anticipating all the fun stuff.
And you know, as you get older, you tend to appreciate it uh, in different ways.
And, you know, obviously, aside from all the, you know, horrible things that have happened this year 33 was was a pretty good year for me.
So I'm looking forward to 34.
And like you said, we did this to help our memory because it is going in our old age.
We actually restarted this show one year ago today.
It kind of worked out pretty, pretty well that we could start it on today.
And like I said, it made it easier for us.
Thio, remember the one year anniversary? So, yeah, it's been 52 weeks of mostly really on time broadcast for us.
So this has been pretty fun, my friend.
It's been a great ride, you know, very few and far between.
Do we have any, uh, unintentional, Mrs.
We've pretty much been hitting it just about every week, almost every day, and, uh, being able to once again share the microphone of you on a daily basis.
Talk about the news and notes of the day.
Fill out a lot of three time talking about 24 Seinfeld and really an eighties music trivia, which so I think is our highest rated show to the Yeah, All kidding aside, I really, really has been a great right.
I look forward to many, many more on Do you know, sharing the microphone with you on a daily basis is truly a great way to start my day.
So I know a lot of pleasantries playing flown around, but, you know, we're in a good mood.
It's a sentimental day.
It really to me, **** it.
But no, All kidding aside, it really is.
And, you know, I I even love the fact that my co host here keeps track of all my catch raises for me in my old age, that's going to be very, very valuable.
Hey, will be publishing a memoir.
I think they're probably only two people in the world.
They will buy it.
But in any case, it will be out there if you ever want, you know, keep track of you.
Well, and I figured this will be good practice.
So, for for when you get you know, your I mean, I'm getting older, but you're you're you've lacked me sort of speak in that sense and, uh you know, when it comes time to, you know, organizing your pills and doing all the things that you're gonna have to dio once Once, you know, we're in a year like 50 of the show.
Uh, I'm just practicing for that time.
I'm getting a head start with that.
But speaking, Wow, think my voice just went back to when I was 17.
If only If only foma.
If only my bad decisions and debt would roll back then.
You know, maybe, you know, actually, it's funny.
It's funny, too, because if I go back to 17 if I'm thinking half my lifetime ago, I'm actually driving the same exact car.
We've talked about this off the air.
Obviously, the car that I I recently purchased, it's almost brand new.
I mean, it's a Lett's not kid yourself.
It's not a beat up 2001.
This is like a brand new 2001 but, uh, ironically, the car I was driving when I was 17 years old 17 years ago is the car I'm driving now.
So, hey, what do you know? We're all It's all it's all coming back, and I folks don't worry I will.
I will not start getting into silly Dion.
However, I will.
Real quick, though.
I love that commercial.
I mean, as much as I you know, I think the NFL is full of it when it comes to all this.
All this junk that they're doing.
Putting together that commercial was pretty good with, you know, when when NFL came back.
But that's not what I wanted to get to what I wanted to get.
Thio was a little bit mawr nostalgia with this as soon as it loads coming up right now.
Soon there it iss.
All right, folks, one of the nice little gifts that I got yesterday Very unexpected to, um Apparently, they're gonna bring Dexter back for, ah, very limited one season engagement.
And I'm not gonna lie.
I sit here in my trash.
I sit here, and I trash remakes all the time.
And if you're if you heard that music, that was obviously the theme.
Claire, I know you haven't watched the show, but I encourage you to start watching the second the show is over.
Um, but yeah, One of the shows that we talked about we obviously it's not.
It's not the top talked about show on this on this show.
Um, but it's one of the shows that we've all enjoyed.
And I know we watched when it was going, and we both agree that it fell very flat towards the end.
So there's always been kind of this, you know, kind of.
Ah, maybe stink isn't the right word.
Um, but there's always been kind of like, Oh, I love Dexter.
But you know, after season four after this after that and rightfully so, it really wasn't the same.
But I'm not gonna lie.
I'm pretty excited to see this.
I'm excited to to see if they can redeem themselves.
It's only a limited engagement.
Um, it's kind of like it reminds me a bit of the 24 return where they came back for just the half season.
And I thought that that was a perfect balance of everything you want to see.
And look, I hope Dexter can capture that as well, because there's a lot of unanswered questions.
There was a lot of terrible, uh, story writing towards the end of the Siri's.
And, you know, I think the fans of the show.
I mean, it's a great show.
It don't Don't you know me? Sitting here complaining about the last couple of seasons does nothing to diminish how great of a show it was through the first few seasons.
And not every show can keep up that momentum.
It just happens that Dexter was one of the ones that fell off a Max Kellerman Cliffs or to speak when it comes to storytelling.
And hopefully the with the original Showrunner back to That's the big thing.
Um, hopefully it recapture some of those early season, so I'm pretty excited about that. Like, not gonna like.
Yeah, that I am too.
And I think, Yeah, like you said, the original Showrunner coming back, it is important to get the original, um, you know, writing staff, the original conceptual, you know, brains behind the true stories of of what we've seen out there, that's always a new important element of bringing these shows back and making sure that they endure and that they satisfying not only the public, but it also has a satisfying story ending.
Um, there are rumors.
I don't want to say rumors, but there are fan theories out there now that maybe this was their plan all along.
Maybe that lackluster ending was enough to kind of keep the appetite.
Went for a lot. Yeah.
And the chief purposely dummy down there.
Offensive playbook, you know, because, you know, the patriots said no.
I buy that, like, you know, anyways, I'm not saying this is my theory.
Just saying this is out there.
This must be a common theme.
I spent all morning fighting with a Twitter troll that tried to accuse me of breaking the story of love Ian Bell to the Patriots, where all I did was quote the tweet.
But whatever I understand, reading is hard.
But in any case, um, the, uh, something like this, Yeah.
I mean, there are a lot of people that are saying, Oh, maybe the the ending was hiding in plain sight.
I don't agree with it.
I actually agree with you 100%.
I think that they probably looked at the pulse of the show.
They looked at the legacy of the show and they realized we could do better.
We have to do better.
This is not how we want to leave the legacy of Dexter behind and you know we're run.
Well, I'm looking forward to it. I think it will be.
I think if they bring this back, try to tighten up some of the loose ends, bring it back to its original concept.
Then they will go out on a good on a good note.
And I think the fact that it is going to be a limited run does kind of screen to me that Yeah, we're trying to fix the mistakes that we've had.
You know, definitely You mentioned the 24 finale and it amazing that we can actually tie in 24 to Dexter.
This gonna really make players had explode.
But even Sterjovski, uh, Kate Morgan in the, uh, in 24 you know, live another day, obviously, you know, well, much more well known for playing Dexter's girlfriend on the syriza.
But that connection between 24 as well.
So, buddy, it all comes back to 24 in Jack Bauer.
Somehow, somehow, just like 10 years ago, I turned 24 it was the most exciting birthday that because, you know, solely for the fact that it was 24 It's like my favorite number.
So, uh, it all comes back to it.
So anyway, on my birthday on the 24th.
See, fourth e mean, if you could just I you know, I want to get a A live look at just just the firings, uh, in our brain.
When when we jump from these different topics and and trying to tie it all together, what does it actually look like? Because to me and you, I know it makes sense toe others.
Yeah, We'll see.
Uh, that remains to be seen, but anyways, we do.
We do have actual, like, football stuff to talk about this.
No game tonight.
Obviously, uh, Titan's gonna play, you know, two games in three days.
That that would be That would be ridiculous.
But there is other news.
Obviously, the falcons shut down their facilities this morning.
I believe they had four players test positive or staff members on.
I say staff members as and it could be players or coaches or whatever.
Just members of the Falcon Falcons organization have tested positive.
So, um, that obviously will be put into question their game this weekend.
And look, I mean, it Z.
It's the same consistent, uh, point of view.
Now, again, this isn't Saturday, the day before a game.
So there could be, uh, more leeway for them to to figure out a alternative.
But just as this was with the Patriots, you know, you have to you have to err on the side of caution.
And if it means pushing, pushing the game back or canceling or rescheduling game, then you do it.
You know don't force these players, uh, to to play a game to further expose themselves.
So it's gonna be interesting to see how that plays out.
Obviously, you know where this is? This is the norm.
This is gonna happen every week.
I mean, I think I think people hold their breaths early in the week, and then Thursday, Friday, Saturday, comes and, you know, all of a sudden you're like, Okay, well, are we getting a positive test? Our Which, which team is gonna be hit this week? So, um, obviously, we saw the Titans get get hit the hardest, and they came back and just demolished the Bills Theater night.
So we'll see how this happens, but I don't know.
Have they said who it was or if it was just all players or what? Because I just kind of saw this right before we got in there.
They haven't, and right now it's being very Crisp.
Reported that there were four positive tests confirmed later on, a Falcon spokesperson came out instead.
We're still sifting through.
I could tell you we are not it for confirmed.
So that's where we're at right now, folks, it hasn't been confirmed whether or not these are front office personnel coaching staff, um, or whether it's it's players or a mixture of all three.
Um, you know, I'm really at this point where the kind of hate to say it kind of flying blind when it comes to that.
Um, Falcons rookie Marlon Davidson was placed on the reserve covert list yesterday.
Now there are four other, and now there are other tests that the league is checking.
But the Falcons air definitely shutting down their facility until there's more information.
So we know about Davidson.
We don't know about the rest as of yet, so I'm you know, unfortunately, Kobe continues to rear its ugly head, and it definitely is, um disheartening to a lot of fan bases.
Anytime you have to see something like that, it just kind of, you know, bow your head and saying, You know, not again way really, really would hope that it wouldn't happen again.
But it's, uh it's It's the harsh reality in which we, uh we live right now.
So we're continuing to monitor that.
You mentioned it.
Say then, obviously, college football.
Big news last night that broke in.
A lot of people, you know, wondering obviously very close ties.
Thio, Bill Belichick and his press conference this morning.
He opened it by sending that Christian well wishes.
Uh, you know, for the Falcons, the Titans, there's all the Patriots connections there.
It's not a coincidence that Dan Okay, I I'm not trying to make light of it.
I'm I'm kind of just pointing e.
I am sure the argument is going to be made if it's not being made already.
No, I mean, it was after I mean, there was there was comments about the you know, they're having patriots connections and you know, the normal response from those folks when they get called out for a stupid comment like that is You guys can't take a joke.
Well, you know, tell me where the joke showed up, because I don't see it.
E mean, I love jokes.
I love knock, knock jokes.
I love witty jokes.
I love you know, this, that and the other walked into the bar jokes, but, uh, you know, you want a joke there? Exactly.
You want a joke about P s I in a football? Fine.
We could take that.
You want a joke about a camera? Yeah.
We can take that to want a joke about a global pandemic.
Not happening. It and I don't blame.
You know, I don't blame any of the Patriots fans or even Patriots media for being defensive when it comes to that.
Look, ah, lot of the narrative that we saw going around on Saturday and Sunday when we found out that the Patriots and Broncos were going to be moved.
You know, some fans in the mile high area.
I'm not gonna you know, name names, but I'm just gonna say some fans in that area were floating The idea that Bill Belichick was was purposely falsifying positives in order to be able to get Cam Newton back.
And, uh, I'm sorry.
If you believe that, then yeah, maybe the maybe the relaxation of cannabis laws in Colorado killing more brain cells than, uh, uh, People are believing that give We've that rapper, right? You know? Oh, I'm not getting a bad rap.
I'm just saying.
Well, I mean, I mean, we'd lead you, you know? Ah, cannabis, as you say, lead you to decisions and thought processes like that.
No, no, I mean, you would have to get get on some pretty hardcore drugs to start thinking like some of these lunatics out here who start trying to make connections.
I mean, I'd like to say, you know, take the tinfoil hat off, but I think it's so wrap tight around their head, it it would be impossible.
I mean, look, Aziz, long as the NFL again, this is something we got on them about last week.
And like there's people from the Miami side to say no, Well, the Patriots are benefiting from this, you know, it's like, No, no, they're not doing this to help the Patriots.
And they wanted to help the Patriots.
They wanted to force them to play a game 24 hours after Cam Newton tested positive That Z Come on, guys.
Um, but this is this is what we have to expect.
And as long as the three NFL does make the health the priority, we can work through this.
It's just my concern being okay, How? You know, haphazardly or they're gonna throw this together.
They're like, No, no, no.
You can play in two days.
Okay? What have we learned? No, no, no.
Just playing two days and then four days later, um, or issues.
So they just got to be willing to To make the hard choice and postponed games and and shuffle a schedule is much as possible.
Like I said before, I mean, they could play the Super Bowl in March on Mars and no one would give to beliefs about it, and they would still watch.
And Anna would dominate the ratings so the NFL could do whatever the hell they want.
I mean, let Z I mean, we we joke and say no, they're they're not immune to everything.
Well, they kind of are.
I mean, we've seen it we've seen them just, you know, obviously be incompetent at the management level.
You've seen them screw things up time and time and time again.
They've had controversy after controversy.
Guess what? Each and every week, stronger.
So the NFL could do whatever the hell they want.
The reason they won't do it is because they don't want to.
So it's not about scheduling issues or this.
That and the other.
It's it's, you know, they have the power to do it.
And if they need to, they should.
And if they dio, then you know there's a better chance that the season actually gets completed relatively unscathed.
Because guess what.
You know, there is some good news.
Cam Newton's back.
He's returning to practice today.
So, uh, you know, we've seen him go through his his his process.
Get healthy, make sure there's no, uh, lingering side effects and, uh, you know, a real quick shout out to it.
I know I'm kind of jumping from topic to topic and but kind of keeping it tightly wound, and this will.
I guess it's kind of relative because we're talking about the kind of the incompetence of the NFL.
Adrian uh, did you have? Phillips came out yesterday, I want to say Or maybe it's the day before, but yeah.
Yeah, And he had talked about how much confidence they had.
And Bill and and in this organization and how they're doing things.
And and as a Patriots fan and as someone who you know, has the utmost respect for, obviously Bill Belichick and Robert Kraft and just how they handle themselves outside of football, not only, you know, obviously not only in football but outside of football um, you know, Bill E don't again.
This is something we expected.
Bill is not gonna.
And it brings to light some of the comments made like, Oh, when remember when players were opting out and people ask the question will build Belichick.
Hold a grudge against those players.
And you're like, What? No, You think he's just some sort of robot? The guy who actually cares about the players on the team and if anything, these last several months has shown mawr of that to the public eye.
Then I think, ah, lot of people have seen and I think the comments made by aging and and I'm sure echoed by other players, Um really resonated with me, really stuck out to me.
It did as well as well, I mean, you know, that's and one thing that a lot of people don't realize.
And having covered Adrian before for the Chargers and then watching him come to New England, his wife is a physician.
His wife is a doctor.
I mean, if you think about that type of insight as his Matthew Slater, which a lot of people don't realize, Um, you know, a lot of these players are dialed into the medical community.
They're not going to take extra risk when they don't feel that the team has their best interest and hard.
The Patriots were hit hard by opt outs for Kobe, 19.
There was a reason for that.
There were a lot of players that were very, um how shall I say, uh, concerned about the health and welfare of their own families? It was a lot.
A lot of the reason for that was the Patriots culture of not putting football first for the first time in a long time, having players be feel comfortable with being able to voice their opinion and being able to put the health and welfare of their family before what happens on the football field.
Um, you know, maybe some of these teams out there need to put themselves in the mirror and find out whether or not they really had their players best interest at heart.
I'm not saying that they didn't believe me.
I'm not making any accusations on any of the other 31 NFL teams, But maybe because the Patriots led the way in that department, it was because they made their players feel so comfortable with being able to make that decision that it made it a little bit easier.
We're talking about players that are walking away from their livelihood, their lives.
Um, this is what they do for a living.
This is their identity and walking away.
And leaving that for a year, Especially knowing that other players could step in and possibly take over their roles, is a big thing.
So, Um, Adrian did mention yesterday said that he's loving it out here in the way.
Obviously, that made me smile.
I love to see him here for a number of years because not only is he a great player on the field, but also a great guy in the locker room.
Great with the community.
He's one of the good guys that I've had a chance to cover.
But, like you said, something that resonated with me yesterday is his.
You know, comments about you could tell.
Coach Belichick isn't willing to sell out his players just to get open, and I think that's a narrative that really needs to be put forth much more than it has been.
Everybody's got this image of the crotchety Bill Belichick with the hood up.
You know, the whole Emperor Palpatine thing going, and you know, part of that, I think is bills are on me. He likes it.
I think you would probably get a chuckle out of him with it, but ultimately it's It's something that he believes very strongly and is taking care of the health and welfare of his players first and foremost.
That's why these guys buy into this system.
Maybe it's a little more harsh.
Maybe it's a little more regimented.
Maybe, you know, And you know, guys like I can't even remember his name.
The back goes to show.
Yeah, yeah, from yesteryear.
He ended up going up to Seattle.
Oh, Cash March E.
I actually thought you were talking about a, uh, older linebacker that had had some issues with Bill Belichick.
But now I see where you're going now.
Yeah, it is. Yeah.
Really? E can always rely on the birthday boy to keep it.
Yeah, but, uh oh, yeah.
And basically, the point comes down to it is that Bill Belichick may run a tighter ship than most, but his players will buy into it because they feel confident.
And they feel secure that he has their best interest in heart.
And I think that's really something that you have to see throughout the league.
Andi, Hopefully, something will continue to see throughout the league.
Well, and look, I mean, the patriots are obviously seem to be having this out of out of control under control.
Um, campus back.
I know Stefan Gilmore is on his way back. Correct.
Uh, so he will, according to build this morning.
He said Stefan still had to be cleared.
Now, that wasn't it wasn't particularly clear whether or not he had been cleared.
And Bill just didn't want to say it at the time or if he still had to go through the process.
You folks, exactly.
If we see him out on the field today, then we'll know that he's cleared and he's all set.
But Can is largely expected to be out there today.
So both of those guys on the field then looks like both of them will be ready to go for Sunday.
And that's big news for the Patriots.
Yeah, No, absolutely.
We saw what they looked like against Kansas City without, um, you know, without Cam Newton under center and, well, they looked like a team that could compete with Kansas City, just, you know, drastically at a disadvantage without their quarterback.
So it's obviously going to be fun to say that.
Actually, you know what? Now that we're talking about Kansas City, I wanna I wanna bring something up that brought a smile to my face yesterday and you might have seen it.
I'm actually here It is. I'm pulling it up on Twitter.
Tweeted this and I'll explain.
I'll go into a little bit more detail after I read off these stats.
So if you're a Chiefs fan up there and you're gonna go a little crazy, you know? Relax.
Ryan Tannehill his last 14 starts.
First, Patrick Mahomes.
His last 14 starts.
3600 passing yards for Tannehill 36 74 for Mahomes.
31 in six for Tannehill.
Touchdown, interception 28 6 for Patrick Mahomes.
Ryan Tannehill 106.
7 rating versus 100 to 3.
To the greatest quarterback who has ever walked the face of this earth.
Now, Okay, before you start going crazy.
It's your stats.
Yeah, I understand.
They're just stats and stats could be easily manipulated.
This does not mean that, uh, Ryan Tannehill is is better than the homes or whatever.
What it means is Patrick Mahomes is not a god.
Okay? I've been I've been preaching this and pounding this point to death or beating this point to death.
But wait a minute.
But I But I was told.
All right, all right.
You're crashing my world here.
This is what I've been told.
Well, guess what? Your world just got knocked down because again, I mean, let's And I try to explain this to people because they asked.
Sometimes it's like, Man, it seems like you're you're hating on Patrick Mahomes and I'm not.
And I know you're probably listen to me saying, This guy is crazy.
What is he senile? Is he already losing his mind at the ripe old age of 34? No.
Well, maybe, I mean, I might be.
Well, that remains to be seen, but in this case, I'm not.
So my point is, I'm trying to bring balance to what's what's become just that.
Just a vomit inducing over the top.
Just, uh, I don't know it just over the top, just coronation off this kid who's who's a really good young quarterback.
Let's let's let's be clear here.
But, um as we're seeing this play out more and more, Uh, and I've said this so many times that people are still living in 2018 and thinking he's doing the same exact stuff as he did then and it's just not true.
Um e Like I said, I'm not trying toe like, say it sit here and say that the kid sucks, but I mean, to put it in perspective.
Like I said, I mean look at Ryan Tannehill.
No one's going to sit here and even think that he's in the same breath as Patrick Mahomes, but I don't know that says otherwise.
Now again, we've got to take into context.
Look at, you know, look at the games and there's obviously much more than just looking at raw numbers, and I'm the first person that that will stand behind that.
But you can't tell me that.
You know again Patrick Mahomes.
If he's not this much better than Ryan Tannehill, how is he? You know, leaps and bounds better than anyone else in the league, and my point is that he isn't And I think he's a really good young quarterback.
That is, You know, that's what he is.
He's not the greatest.
He's not on pace to be the goat.
He's not, you know, having the greatest start of anyone in NFL history like, let's, you know, let's let's just calm, you know, pump the brakes a little bit.
Uh, it'll be interesting to see how the rest the circle, the wagons here, and just actually, that might not be the right phrase.
I'm really looking forward to taking victory laps.
Uh, No, I don't.
I definitely don't want to circle the wagons.
I want to take victory laps by the end of the season.
Yeah, without any question.
And look, I think you know, I've always said Virtualized in the middle.
I always fall back on that Aristotle quote.
People think I sound pretentious when I do it, but it's true.
I mean, you find that you know water seeks its own level, is if that's a better way to put it.
But I think you make a great point about Patrick, and I think that a lot of people look at us or, you know, really, they look at you more than they do anybody, but, you know, in terms of some of the vitriol that we've thrown his way, or maybe, you know, get a little snarky or a little defensive, But it really is.
It's something that you have to put into perspective is, you know, a player worth the hype that he gets very, very seldom our players worth the hype that they get.
That's a very, um, fine line toe walk.
When you're talking about, you know, media and fan hype as opposed to what the player actually does on the field.
So I like the statistics on Tannehill.
I think that z interesting.
I think now there's a new example of a quarterback that may not get the credit he deserves.
Does he deserve to be in the upper echelon? A lot of quarterbacks in NFL history.
Well, sorry, Tyler Kating are good colleague that, you know, is really driving the Ryan Tannehill bus.
Always has much love and respect to you, my friend.
But no, he does not belong in that echelon.
But when you look at those statistics, it makes you wonder.
You look and you say, you know, wow, You know, he's been a lot better than than people give him credit for.
Why is that? Well, he doesn't quite fit the narrative.
He doesn't quite fit the cookie cutter image.
You know, maybe of what you know, teams want nowadays and quarterbacks and things of that nature.
So, uh, you know it Z it is an eye opener, though I do like the fact that you share those statistics and we'll see.
We'll see what what happens as the season progresses.
Yeah, and look, I mean, Patrick Jones had a great great season in 2018.
I mean, everything kind of came together, right? Um, you know, it just it just it worked out great.
I'm not taking that away from him.
Um, that's again.
That's it's It's not the norm.
We've seen his touchdown percentage dropped by 3% points from that season, Uh, yards per attempt, down almost a full yard, another 7.
7 yards for I'm sorry yards per attempt.
And then, uh, all these other things yards per game or down rating is down.
Obviously, Q B R is down, so and that's not that's again.
That's not supposed to be a knock on him.
It's just it's lightning in a bottle in 2018.
It worked out well. It's it's.
But like I said, I think you're seeing a lot of teams start to catch up and realize that.
And I said this yesterday.
Go ahead, let him run around, you know, don't overreact to that because that's where people get in trouble now.
His interception rate is down significantly, however, however, like I mentioned the other day, you'd be naive to say that he hasn't thrown intercept herbal balls.
You know what I mean, one of which was intercepted in the Patriots game, but again, inexplicably, hey was called in to grasp.
So whatever people say it's a fumble, but it never hit the ground.
So technically, that's that that would would they consider that interception? Because I've been confused about that because I know people referenced that as a fumble.
But again, the ball never hit the ground, so that technically would be a interception.
Anyways, I think it actually depends on who is actually playing and what the team's laundry.
I have to look into that.
Oh, that's that's right, because that was in the grass.
That might be in the rule book.
We have to check on that, folks.
We'll do our due diligence.
Yeah, yeah, So it's like, you know, again.
You know, you look at his per 16 games since last year, and obviously through five games this year, he's right at about where a lot of really good quarterbacks are 30 31 32 touchdowns this season.
Not 50 you know, yards, Same thing, Uh, just kind of right in the ballpark of everyone else.
So again, I think.
I think people are starting to see a little bit that, you know, maybe maybe the praise is getting a little too ridiculous, because again, I mean I mean, if you're watching the game the other day, how many times did you hear Mahomes is a magician? And it's like, Dude, he threw a pass like I mean, you know, this is what it's like If I were to get up on stage and do the little thumb trick, you know where you tuck one thumb in and put your other one to be like, Hey, look, I just I ripped my thumb thumb off and the little kids like, Oh my God, that's like, If I you know that that's like him calling me a magician going up there and doing that it's like, No, he's just doing, like, a basic thing.
He's throwing a football like, let's, you know, everything.
I understand the hype nous that you know, the hype, everything like that.
It gets people excited, but well, and that's kind of where we're at and keeps up like this.
People aren't even going to know who Aaron Rodgers is in like three years ago.
Like who I thought football started in 2018.
So, uh, you definitely make a point.
There's no question about it. It's again.
Well, of course I do, Mike.
I opened my mouth.
I always have a point.
Well, I didn't say whether that point was, you know, actually, like, relevant e.
I think you make a relevant point relevant.
Hey, that's the second time you hit me with that bedpan this morning.
One more time, and I will I will have matched the amount of times you said I'll keep a sharp eye on something.
Getting that count is that count is way, way over the top.
We're talking thousands here.
My oh, man, I'm talking to just today.
Okay, well, that that's that's a reasonable Yeah, that that's a reasonable notes.
Like I don't know.
We'll see Kansas City, though it is gonna be fun when they, uh uh again, I think we hope if if you're a Patriots fan, you hope that these two teams meet again because I think you feel very confident, um, in what the Patriots could do with Cam do And against this team, uh, again, there's conflicting, uh, information as to to how this virus can impact you once you've already had it.
If you can get it again, I'm not going to sit here and pretend like I know anything about it.
Um, disclaimer, I guess.
But if you wanna look at the bright side, Cam's already gone through this.
So does that make it, you know, less likely he'll have, you know, who knows again? I'm not.
I'm not trying to sit here and talk about the the science of it all because I just don't understand it.
You know, if only the NFL took the same tact.
You know, maybe we wouldn't be talking about the Flake gate five years later, but hey, whatever s Oh, yeah.
I mean, look, I mean, he's obviously healthy enough to get back on the field.
He's gonna be there today.
It's gonna be interesting to see how he plays this weekend.
And, you know, you got to be excited that he's back there because we've seen life without him, and, uh, it's it's it's not It's not that good.
Let's just put it that way.
No, it isn't, It's not.
And, you know, I mean, Cam going through this and actually, you know, being able to come out of it, you know, getting cleared medically cleared.
Which there are a number of hurdles that you have to go through in order to be medically cleared to return.
Folks, it's not just Oh, we got to positive test.
That's it to negative tests within 24 hours throwing back out there on the I feel there are still protocols.
He has to be cleared by team physicians, has to be cleared by patriots, you know, positions as well as the league.
And then you look at, um, also cardiac clearance as well.
And Doctor Jessica Flynn joined me earlier this week on Locked on Patriots to talk a little bit about this.
And there really are a number of protocols that players have to go through in a lot of ways.
NFL dot There's and physicians and independent physicians are spending a lot of time evaluating players.
Andi evaluating their recovery from this and what it actually can do to you When you exert yourself on the field, athletes obviously heartbeats and and you know, heart monitoring and things of that nature are so important to an athlete.
I mean, it's important every human being.
But for an athlete, you know, that's constantly physically exerting themselves out there.
They're looking Thio, you know, Thio to see the impact of this virus on the lungs, on the breathing on the circulatory system.
So it is Ah, lot Thio.
So there are still ah, lot of things Thio keep in mind.
And again, I think you said it very eloquently.
There are still questions about whether or not this virus can be, you know, contracted again.
We're hearing all types of reports out there that there isn't a way to or isn't an immunity that's built up to this virus.
Once you've had it, you're still susceptible to getting it.
So you have to be probably extra cautious or does it make you a little bit less likely to spread? Do you build up antibodies, thes air things that a lot of you know scientists right now and doctors are trying to get a hold on not just in the world of professional sports but all over society.
It still amazes me the amount of people that are taking this lightly.
I don't know what to tell them.
I think there's enough evidence out there to prove that you know it is a significant risk and that we do have to do our due diligence.
But maybe that's a conversation for another day.
But other than that, you know, we look to see the impact that this will have on the field.
Hopefully, we'll see a, um healthy.
Can we'll see a cannon? Newton that just is able to go back out there and not show any ill effects on that really is the same.
Well, um, um, we'll continue Thio to see what what happens, but I for one, I'm gonna be excited to see him back out on the field.
I think he, uh he is desperately needed by the Patriots, and they'll definitely be glad to have him out there.
Especially Sunday against the Broncos team that is getting healthy themselves.
You talk about Drew lock coming back now he's probably going to start.
There's a chance no, a fan might be able to go in this game and tight end on DSO there.
They're getting a few players back as well so this this should be a better one than the contest that we probably would have seen on Monday between either Hoyer or stood on Brett ripping.
Yeah, yeah, I was going to say certainly much better from both fan points.
I obviously still like the Patriots chances in this game, but you know, we'll get into that more.
I am curious to kind of because there's one more thing obviously I want to talk about with obviously Levian Bell being a free agent and one of the teams that he's been connected to, actually, two of the team's he's been connected to and whether you buy it or not, I mean, that's that's besides the point, but the Chiefs, for one.
And of course, the Patriots, because it's a free agent and, uh, it's a name people recognize.
So, of course he's gonna get connected to the Patriots.
But, um, you know, the Chiefs have a really big matchup this weekend against the Bills, and, you know, we talked a little bit about this yesterday, were kind of that that honeymoon phase with the Bills team kind of wore off a little bit and you're kind of looking at him like maybe they're not quite ready, you know, because we saw a lot of bad things from the Bills against the Titans.
But I'm willing Thio, wait it out a little bit.
Although I am going into this game feeling a little bit more on edge.
Whereas if they would have played Justus well, as they had all season against the Titans, I might have picked them toe win.
You know what I mean? Um so I don't know.
I mean, I look at this is like the Bills defense I think we know is pretty legit again.
I don't think that 42 points is a normal, but, you know, maybe I'm wrong, but I think we've seen enough evidence from the defense of side of the ball over the last year.
Plus that we can say that they're pretty good unit, and I think they're going to give the chief some trouble.
Uh, we'll see what happens on the offensive side of the ball, because if the bills turned the ball over like they did, you know, the other night or whatever, that's just not gonna happen.
But I guess I'm gonna ask you.
Where do you think? Where do you think Levian bell sides and where do you think is the best fit for? Because it might not be the same Answer.
Uh, well, in terms of best fit, I mean, and I know Patriots fans are not gonna like this.
I think the best fit form right now is in Buffalo.
Believe it or not, I think that having a pass catching back with the prowess of, um, Bolivian Bell would just be to me, it would be one of the better things that could happen to that team.
A za Patriots guy.
You definitely don't want to see that.
There's no question about it because it does strengthen their resolve and strengthen their ability.
But I think that's a not for him to go.
Um, Kansas City, to me is it's a logistical fit.
But what does that tell you about Clyde Edwards? L Air? Are they going to, uh, you know, continue to ride him? He's shown a lot of promise.
I know Chiefs fans seem to be very content to sweep them under the rug this year, but let's not forget the element that he has provided to that the offense.
So hey, would be more of a filler role.
I think he could be more of a feature back in Buffalo.
Do not discount the fact that he could end up in New England.
And I got into some, you know, Twitter back and forth today.
Obviously I, you know, opened the show by, you know, lamenting some of these, you know, comments.
I was even called at one point.
A fan with sources.
Uh, first of all, I'm a little more than that.
And second of all, I do not have sources when it comes to this story.
I was simply retreating and quote tweeting something that was already out there.
But again, I understand reading his hard man.
I mean, you know, it really is.
It's difficult, actually.
Read and comprehend comprehension is really, really tough.
Probably not a good spot on the S A t s, but whatever, you know, like I said, it's you know, it's all about positivity.
Now move forward to your birthday.
I'm not gonna bring it down.
Five minutes ago, the NFL network just tweeted out Bill Belichick's thoughts on leave.
Ian Bell, and I'll leave you with this quote.
Oh my God, this is Bill's words.
He's a tremendous player.
Catches the ball very quick.
Makes people miss strong breaks, tackles excellent balance.
Tough. Doesn't run out of bounds.
Fights for extra yard, As good as anybody will play unquote.
No, that sounds to me like there might be some interest.
Whether or not he's willing to come here minimum.
Whether or not he ends up here in New England is something that is a little bit of ah far fetched thought.
I don't necessarily believe that the Patriots are in desperate need of someone with Levian Bell skill set.
I think that they have a player that out of the backfield strong can break tackles.
His name is James White, and I think they're very content with him and also platooning that down backs with Sony Michelle once he gets healthy and a lot of Patriots fans ain't the guy.
But believe me when I tell you there is talent there and I like what I've seen from Damien Harrison, Rex Burkhead.
So I think the Patriots might be better off using their resource is and roster spots maybe on a wide receiver on a tight end, someone that can help three offense move along a little bit.
I think the running game is their strength right now.
But that type of dynamic talent, especially with the glowing thoughts that Bill Belichick has and before anyone says, Oh, Belichick will talk up anybody that he's playing, Uh, not like this.
I mean, I just read off a laundry list of things that Bill Belichick would say he would, you know, go out there and say, Yeah, he's a great player, you know, Dynamic, you know, we're gonna give it our best shot.
Gonna need our best game when he goes into detail about what these guys can dio Bill Belichick.
Sharp eye is definitely beyond.
Then I've been on Lady on Bell.
So does not surprise me.
After reading that quote, why the Patriots are so heavily linked in at this point, I'm not going to count that last one because it wasn't.
I'm going to keep a sharp eye.
But your clothes, your clothes almost counted that well, No, I mean, if you didn't tell me that this, you know, came from obviously an account that that that we know is linked to the Patriots and all that stuff I would have said, Oh, that's just a burner was a barrier or something like that because that doesn't sound like Bill.
But then But then you like wait a minute.
If he's saying these things about it No, Now I'm kind of sitting here thinking, you know what? Like and I I understand what you're saying and I get and I agree with what you're saying.
They they have a nice group of running backs.
But indeed, as much as I knock on Levy on Bell, that's that's still a talent.
And here's the thing.
He's still getting paid, what, $6 million by the Jets? I mean, Okay.
All right, I'm gonna I'm gonna throw a little conspiracy out here.
Belichick hate the most.
Do you know the answer? I could say something, but I won't know that that Zach's, that's exactly what the answer is.
I mean, we've seen it.
We saw it in the two bills, you know, when they walked into Giants Stadium, they don't want to go down to the Jets E.
There's a There's a hatred for that franchise from Bill, that I mean, hey, doesn't There's not too many things that just kind of that to me, would I would I would not put it past him.
Obviously, the move would be motivated by the talent of the player, but I would not put it past them.
If if there's extra motivation there to just stick it to the Jets, like, imagine that just, you know, sign this big money created their own five.
They cut him in midway through the They're not this team.
That's all of a sudden gonna be five and 11.
No, they're deficient.
A contender, if not division favorite, and then you know there will see.
But, uh, yeah, I would not.
I would not be if I found out 10 years from now that, you know, you know, behind in a in a closed door or closed zoom room, you know, in Foxboro and in the surrounding areas.
Actually, you know what? Screw the jets.
Let's let's let's bring him aboard.
He wants to be here.
We don't have, you know, a clear role for him, but you know, he's a talented player that that does everything.
He's a football player.
That's the thing.
And that's what Bill Belichick I think, is most attracted to is just He's a football player.
Like you said, He can run, he can.
He fights for the extra yardage.
That's the type of stuff that Bill gets enamored with.
And rightfully so.
So I mean, honestly, bills not lying here.
Leon Levy in Falcon Do all of those things fairly well.
Um, it will be interesting and will be interesting to see.
Uh Oh, wait a minute.
Chanel was reporting that the chiefs have swooped in and sign Levian Belt you reported in an hour ago.
So take that to the bank.
We know you want to talk about sources.
I want to talk about fans with sources.
That's where you should be.
That's what you should be allocating those recent sources.
But no and all of you.
And apparently Julio Jones is still on his way to the Yeah, I really behind, uh, unbelievable.
And we also Ian and I also have some swampland in Florida that we'd like Thio sell.
You could build a nice timeshare on their everything will be good, nice and rosy.
So, you know, uh, absolutely s.
So that's that's obviously a story that's good, are sharp eye on for for over the weekend because there's been indications that he's gonna make a decision soon, so this shouldn't linger.
I can't imagine he wants it to either, because obviously we are in the middle of the season, you know, with all the extra protocols in place before you can join the team.
You know he wants to get this done and over with and and wants to see the field as soon as possible.
We'll see. So all right, Mike.
Well, I guess we'll have to say goodbye for the day.
We will be back tomorrow.
So that's that's good.
So absolutely, we will weigh definitely.
Well, there's plenty to keep us busy in a week that got a whole lot more busy.

It's a lot of fun for us.
