percent of the par skate show.
Episode one with your normal host, Alex Stossel from the D.
V. SportsCenter Grandfather from Floods of Sports Stone.
And today, this is the Angel free agency Recap, Frenzy and Grant.
How about this free agents going on today? Oh, boy, that was That was a wild one, Especially on Thursday and Friday.
Those were some, uh, pretty wild days when free and she got going.
And really, we had crazy signings up until the end of the weekend.
It was a wild week for sure.
Can't wait to give our opinions tonight.
It was a lot of fun.
It was hard work, you know, posting it.
You know, I love the social media is in my right, but overall, it was working.
We are ready for a good show tonight, to say the least.
Yeah, we worked so hard posting for you guys aren't social media's instagram and Twitter boy.
All right? I guess I guess we're gonna start and see if you guys like this please hit the like Monday, um, and greatly appreciate lost to us.
That's gonna make us do more podcast.
Because in the future, let's start with a good season two.
And and I think we need Thio do this with a banger.
I mean, somebody could be fun.
Yeah, I'm looking forward to it.
You know, I said off season starting a new season, we're gonna chug along and do that.
Season two Episode one.
Okay, First topic.
Wow, Of course we're getting to the free agency news. Don't worry.
But we figured you know what? It's the start of a new season.
We're gonna have a little fun in the first minute or so.
Oh, my goodness.
Ladies and gentlemen, Legendary Hold on.
I I even made a title for the legendary Philadelphia Eagles Man and YouTuber, GDP 445 He has chosen the Toronto May police as his favorite NHL team, which is weird because he's also Philadelphia Eagles fan and literally the main police are the Eagles of the NHL.
I can kind of see where he's going with this, and he likes heartbreaking finishes, you know, disappointment, the playoffs and such.
Well, I know you don't watch this guy, Alex, but what do you think? He's teaming up with Steve Dangle now And Maple Leaf leash may believe nation That would be crazy if they video together They have Thio have Thio I swear to God that they have to do is be a cloud together.
But when I saw the news like when? When you put the face l m f a o You wanna know what, man? When I heard about that, I'm like, there's no way I'm going to actually put one of the one of the most, you know, biggest sports YouTubers out there.
I'm like, there's no way imposing about this on my instagram.
But of course, a couple other SportsCastrs, including we've had him on the show before. Sam Fetterman.
He really wanted me to post.
And I'm like, You know what? Let me go post.
You know, we're gonna be talking about all the free agents.
So I figured out why not open up with something a little bit lighthearted, but all right, Alright, Https.
Now a maple leaf fan And that interesting, but they leave friends.
I have a message for you know I did 67 Yeah.
I wonder if he knows that.
I wonder if he knows that they haven't won half a century.
And there May believes best friends David hairs as well, I e No, David airs.
That's part of the, uh, Maple Leaves dictionary right there.
Yeah, all right.
Anyway, let's let's get to the big free agency.
Alex Pietrangelo is gone to the world of Elvis Presley Vegas Golden Knights.
Oh, boy, this Hey, I'll be honest with you.
A lot of people were saying he was going to Vegas.
I kind of sensed it as well.
But if you're in Vegas now, it's Stanley Cup or bust.
Last year you lost to the Stars in a for the most part, I think, a hard fought series.
I know this series only won five games, but for the most part, felt like the Knights played pretty good.
Even in the games they lost with a guy like out veteran Angelo, you gotta win the cup now.
Remember this guy starting defense? Me first line defenses on the Blues championship team two years ago.
You've got to win now, especially when you locked up Robin later that contract.
You still have the forward corps at the perfect age to go on a deep playoff run.
No messing around.
It's its's cover bus for Vegas.
Simply put, with this move.
Yeah, I got e gotta tell you what Vegas were so close to win or go to the Stanley Cup. 2018.
Lost to this team right there.
We do not need to go over that because that is a terrible called Marconi.
Egan hit 2020 Dennis Story.
Yeah, In 2020 2020 minutes.
Karyono says Goodbye, Vegas.
We're going to the final.
And Zack White Cloud touched his head like he felt bad about that penalty.
2021 Stanley Cup Final time.
Boys. Pack your bags.
You know, whether whatever you know, even if we have, like, a 16 game season, 72 game season or whatever, it simply put the nights.
They also got to run away with the West.
I mean, really, who in that division could really give the night to run for their money? That Canucks, Maybe the Oilers? No.
Vegas should win that division.
They should be at least top two seeds in the playoffs.
I think the Avalanche is gonna be pretty good.
So it wouldn't shock me if they're one, but I think it should at least be too.
There is no exclusive Vegas messes up this year.
Even if there's a bad refereeing collect.
That was in 2019. I don't care.
There is no excuses.
Yeah, no, no excuses.
I'm just going to say this.
They came up with a ton of excuses in the past.
Like with potential.
No, you can't do it.
You know, you're like, Oh, my goodness were an expansion team.
You know, this year, your last year could be like, Oh, no, that was a stupid penalty in game seven.
Of course this you could be like, Oh, no, Kobe the bubble.
But this year, especially if you have a regular playoff format.
Oh, no, no, I think so.
Next we got Taylor Hall to this one.
Shocked me a lot.
716 buffalo sabers.
Um, $8 million for one year.
Well, buffalo make the playoffs.
That's why they they ain't making the playoffs.
They ain't doing it because that defense is still pretty rough.
And we have no idea what you saw, Mark or a car hunter going to do next year, so I would say Savers air, not a playoff team.
If they do, they'll only be the last scene.
They'll probably get crunched by the Lightning of Berlin's in the, you know, the Buffalo Jeevan one to make it.
And at that point, I'm sure they would, of course, everybody. The players 2011.
At least they're finally building around Jack Eichel.
I mean, at least a Not over paying a guy like Jeff Skin, or at least not relying on a young guy like Victor Olson.
Now they got the men with Jack Eichel.
My real question is it holds a piece in this year.
He stays healthy through the saber for you.
Sign up for a long term deal.
I mean, I would.
I mean, I do be more like a three or four year deal.
Wouldn't really be, you know, like a 67 year deal like I wouldn't shock me for another team does.
But like when I heard tell her I was going for a one year deal, I was like, It's smart and I'm honestly shot team that I thought, you know, I was I was getting like a 78 year contract like I was getting that already.
Todo like always. I know what your deal.
Okay, that's good.
That's what they should do, because he's only had really two or three good years since, you know, leaving mhm.
Next topic on February 15th, 2020.
The hat trick of this game.
Siri's tower to fully signs with the team right behind you.
I don't even know why I bought this back in, like 2017.
Hey, Sam, can you make that Michael Moore ski means please or thank you? I'm a Montreal Canadian, and I can't speak many friends.
I mean, four years, 17 mil.
You know I need to write down.
Can not come back. Josh Harrison.
We didn't write them down. Notes.
We could go over that contract.
Like that contract is what you don't do.
Unlike Tyler toe fully.
This is the deal you can't even pass up on four years.
Montreal's playoff window has just opened.
What about wrong? This is This was a smart move.
Now, following that kept Max told me, maybe looking even better.
Not to mention they re signed Brandon Gallagher to a six year deal about an hour ago.
So Montreal's doing stuff just for that? Yeah.
I think Grant's gonna say something.
Blues signed a guy who better head without a helmet.
Seven years to ST Louis, Robert Thomas is shaking in his skates.
Now he's like, Yo, I gotta get rammed by crude and practice.
Now, that's going to be fun, right? Uh huh.
Boy that 2019 finals, man.
Fun, but painful memories at the same time.
And, uh, boy, am I sad to see Tory currently Boston.
But it makes sense.
Prints weren't going to resign them.
They need to save up money for McEvoy and, you know, potentially even get, like, another pretty good defenseman.
So, you know, they had a pretty much at this point, Governor Krug.
And then once we knew Petra Angela, I wasn't going to sign with the blues.
That kind of sense, that sort of crude was gonna go to ST Louis personally.
May I would like to see him go to Colorado to pretty much like, ensure them pretty much right up there with Vegas for pretty much being the number one seed in the West.
But no, I Colorado is gonna have the salary cap to do it.
So I'm even shocked.
ST. Louis pull enough.
I thought they wouldn't even have the cap.
Yeah. I mean, it's a seven year deal.
Uh, 45.5 million.
A lot of Bruins fans have reached out to that saying this is too much, but honestly, crude is just entering into his prime.
And the blues there, right back in the cup window to, you know, have to coming up that humiliating loss to Vancouver this year.
They can really, you know, make a push for the couple's well after the signing.
I wouldn't be shocked if the blues do very well there.
You know, Dr Benton has a bounce back here and all that, but that's the crew Chianti paycheck, That is for sure.
You got your opinions on this? Um, I was I was surprised at Crewe.
What you're saying, Lewis, I thought that Boston would respond him mhm since, like they, it's like they trade that garbage contract of David Bacchus trade.
Like so? So you.
You have a ton of cap space.
I would only way great.
Like, you will have a ton of cap space, and then you can have someone in Providence.
Well, I think I think ****er iron will replace crew.
Or maybe Kevin Miller will come back.
I do know that, but he's not going to stay healthy from when they 20 games.
I think that's Ah, place a bet on that one.
Over under 20 games.
I'm picking the under man's injury.
Prone to attack.
Your turn on my king.
Henrik is a Capital 2021 Stanley Cup champions now, because you're Vegas gonna get the revenge on Washington Early Stanley Cup Prediction.
Vegas gets the revenge on Washington.
Early way too early.
Stanley Cup prediction.
Right there, Ladies and gents.
King Henrik needs a Stanley Cup.
Yeah, Martinez happened.
You blew his shot at cup because Alec Martinez is clutch Kings.
But continue that, that's all.
We're gonna win the Stanley Cup, boys.
Well, the Stanley Cup, man, I mean different steps.
Enough is gonna be a great one to point and Sam's not one now.
Yeah, that's not maybe.
Anyway, I think you I think you said that you're going to share your screen about some about someone's thoughts that they said or yes, um, actually want to do it up until, actually, yeah, we could do that now.
So we were originally gonna have t j Channel and come on the show.
He unfortunately could make at the last second what he did give us his free agent.
You know, goaltender reactions.
It's about five minutes.
We'll definitely give our opinions on the rest of Goetze's as well.
But yes, he is also a capitalist, and Alex is the land he was.
He seemed like he was pretty excited with Link was going to Washington as well.
Yeah, we're gonna watch this video real quickly.
I already start, and I thought you made a lot of pretty good points.
And again, we could definitely give our opinion.
Thought it as well, but yeah, this is TJ.
Picture out to him again.
He couldn't make it on the show night, but he still offered us this video.
And I hope you guys enjoyed.
He seems like a Knauss subdued and yeah, TJ, I definitely love to have you on the show one day, and I thanks so much for making the video.
Hopefully you guys can hear it. All right.
I can't hear him.
Let me try toe bump up this volume here.
So all your boys really mhm.
He does talk a little bit stopped in the beginning.
Maybe that's why I came here now.
Okay, thank you.
I don't know what's up with that.
Unfortunately, um Mhm.
Way apologize for for the difficulties, guys.
Yeah, that's weird.
Um, yeah, I'm trying to just, like, another minute.
But if I can't get up, then I was pretty much show you what? He was everybody pretty much ***.
He talked about a white, uh, talk about pretty much all the goalie stuff, and yeah.
I'm not very tech savvy, Unfortunately, alarmed again.
We'll try to get him on the show on these days.
And maybe you can talk about more of his opinions then before the season starts, but yeah, pretty much.
Let's go down the list.
of You know what? We're going What we're gonna be talking about a couple of minutes.
Um, it was pretty much saying he was happy.
You know, some of the capital's It really does think that, and it was legit.
Shot the finals.
Now, because of that signing, you thought that it was very weird and to see brain and Hopi in a Vancouver connection of form, which, of course, that makes because, you know, yeah, Washington.
You know, it's gonna be weird, because I think that puts Vancouver right back on the map.
Um, he thought the flames signing Jacob Markstrom, and I totally agree with him here.
It was an overpayment, and it wasa six year, 36 million for a guy who's only had, like, 12 Goodyear.
Statistically, I think, man, that that one was that one was a bit rough.
Many went on to say Corey Crawford to the Devils.
He thought that was a pretty good signing for New Jersey.
He thinks he and Mackenzie black we'll do a nice job, you know, splitting up, time in goal.
He thought this is interesting for the Cory Schneider signing with the Islanders.
He thought it was a bargain.
A lot of plays, a little off.
And, you know, she goes back to the form anywhere close the way he did in Vancouver.
This could This could potentially be a good move for sure.
So I definitely agree with him on that, Um, what they talked about Thomas Rice is well and camped out, so yeah, Thomas Christ, that was pretty good move.
You know, with the Red Wings gang, right? Jimmy Howard.
He thought that was a decent move.
And then while Talbot, he thought, I think he thought it was like a little bit on the expensive side.
But overall, he also thought that was a pretty good move.
And go by that so fast.
But now we can resume our our opinions on e No.
Your Capitals fan.
What, you think I'm hoping? Me.
I think it's a good deal.
I mean, two years, 8.
6 and whoever gets the goalie, they need their in win download right now.
What do you think that you catch, man? Um, I would say Like like they should trade like Temko because, like, um, he is most likely a He was a like most of a career backup.
Um, but the playoffs see one on fire 10.
66 goals against.
So, like, what you're saying is that, like, you should resign Markstrom.
And then I've Hopi one a one b scenario, and then you can, like trade, like Dem Co or or Wave him said that, like so they're like m coke consigned with the flames.
That would be that would be the best.
That would be a scenario in my mind, but, like, yeah, hope, um, I was surprised that he signed was being river.
I thought that he was going to a team that need help with goaltending wise.
Like like, um, buffalo todo We're saying the savers for a while.
Yeah, because like, Kara Hutton has just been a question mark.
Yeah, um, I would say like Florida if they trade Montagne bow.
Um, maybe like too much faith in bobrovsky.
I don't think the Panthers Well, I've picked up Hopi.
They have way too much faith.
Rosco always wasn't that great this year.
But or maybe a team like Dallas if they if they traded Bishop because could've been did the work at the Stanley Cup final.
When we talk about the kiddo, been shining it a little bit too, But, uh, I don't know.
It was interesting about hoping me personally that I 1st 2nd out of the savers.
So we're getting closer.
I'm like, Oh, I think you know, the wiles would go after him while did go after goalie.
But I'm hoping you can tell that.
Yeah, that's quite a difference there.
I can't tell if it's bad, but definitely would rather, you know, have hope for two years for 8.
6 million than Albert for 10 for three years for 10 million.
That's just my opinion, because overall, I think Hopi just gives you more of a shot, you know, in the playoffs and stuff like that.
He wasn't great with planes this year.
I mean, he was good.
He definitely you know, we should be a decent starter, but I don't know my hope.
The Wild will remain like a wild card team.
I mean, that's of course, The Jacob Markstrom deal.
Six years, 36 million canceled.
Okay, talk about money to burn first off and second off, you signed Markstrom to a two year, $7 million contract.
That's what I would have tried to go after March from.
I have no idea why the plane just decided to give, like, some of, like, a good chunk of the salary cap to a goal.
You really you know, I remember when Jacob Markstrom was back in, like the Panthers back in 2012.
It's like if a guy was pretty mediocre in, like 2012 you know now he's just like reaching his peak when he's in his early thirties.
Why would you give him a six year deal? Maybe I'm overthinking it, but, like, why would you give Jake in March from a 60 day? I was one of the worst signings, in my opinion.
I watch it backfires on the flames on the Cup next year.
But let me. First of all, I was Calgary.
I would try toe going after someone like Taylor Hall, for example, strengthen the top six.
Yeah, so, like like Kim Talbot, I was surprised because I felt like I said I thought he was going to resign.
What? Narissa, go to a team lie Yeah.
Or Anaheim? Yeah, Or maybe Sam's A Yeah, well, that was until they got Devon Dubnyk thing to do that was out.
All right. Um Alright, Next topic.
I call this one for those before free agency.
I said there are rumors about Taison Barry going to blank Edmonton Oilers.
And you and you guys said that was false.
I I'm a master at stuff, but I'm surprised that it was a one year deal.
Yeah, I would have probably signed.
Buried, like, at least, like a two year deal at least, maybe even the three, but no.
This is This is another bargain, in my opinion.
I mean, you cannot go wrong here.
Like if he gets injured or he really struggles. Whatever.
Just don't resign them.
But if you know, continues to be decent.
They get a top four defenseman now they make the playoffs again.
You know, with the way better defense I do.
Last year, E could pay off now.
And this was a smart move.
I'm kind of liking where I thought, There we go.
I don't see what have been shot to be re signed with the Maple Leafs.
Honestly, e can't exactly remember who they say was going to be a pretty sure I was gonna sound with me please, which also would make sense.
But a meeting Also.
I felt like, you know, they were like one really good defenseman away from, you know, really making a playoff push as well.
That's very he's not.
The player once was when you know Colorado, but he's still Yeah, I know he's not like the way it was with the Avalanche, but he's still a pretty productive defense.
But like you'll get you, let's say in the full 82 game season, I'll probably get you at least like 35 40 points.
Can't really complain there.
Yeah, okay, let's see.
Next topic, um, Blue Jackets time, Mikko Koivu to a one year deal.
And this wasn't no surprise one year deal because he because he is like a veteran, wise player veteran wise salary.
Yeah, I want this rich smart.
You can go ahead.
I was surprised that he signed with Columbus because Columbus is a team that is most likely a bubble team? Um, no, that this is not about this is not about last year when they had Corpus Chalmers.
Lincoln's go crazy.
This is about, like, changing changing stuff because they're not gonna repeat what their what they did last year.
They may change, like Columbus finished fourth, which is a wild card, a wildcard spot.
They may go toe a bubble, be a bubble team who might be barely who might barely make the playoffs or miss miss a little point in the playoffs.
Yeah, I mean, if you're Columbus and if you're in the Atlantic, I say you're the third.
That's what I mean.
If they were in the Atlantic, I'd be saying, Oh, you're finishing just behind the Lightning and the Bruins for this point, they're banned in the Maple Leafs and the Panthers and stuff, so they should make the playoff season in the Atlantic.
But when they're in the Metro Yeah, I know that I could young team, but I don't know.
They might sneak in my like a wallet cards.
I mean, they might like no jail a team by, like, a point or something if I was Mikko Koivu, you know, I personally would have signed somewhere like, uh, maybe Toronto.
I mean, at this point, you know, I know they re signed Jason Spencer.
At this point, I'd rather than Mikko Koivu.
Bill Gates? Yeah.
I picked a team like like Pittsburgh.
Because yeah, because Patrick Marleau, why are you going back to San Jose? Or get to that? Get Thio.
Sorry, I was being off topic, but I just want to say my explanation.
It Pittsburgh resigns.
Guess what? You are a playoff contention.
If you sign multiple veteran players who are not signed yet.
Corey Perry as him to the list.
Um, who am I as about a younger? But he's he's in Europe.
Um, bring back younger like 48 now.
Coming back. Yeah.
Corey Perry of I can't do think can't think of a name because I just know I wake him at retirement.
You know who Jeanne Moos.
Alani got to get him at retirement race e pick up like they should pick up another veteran.
You know, the fact that they couldn't get Koivu, they couldn't get Marlowe.
They might get, you know, they might get Corey Perry have todo go to Toronto, so I don't know about that, Unfortunately, will be a topic for our next week. Be fine.
We have a trade to announce.
Colorado Trace Nikita's adore off process and unknown prospect to the Chicago Blackhawks.
For left wing, Brennan saw in a unknown prospect, the prospects are known.
It was just too lazy to write down the actual process of somebody and honest.
Yeah, a problem.
I'm sure you guys defenseman and I actually I think they were both defenseman.
It was the door up.
And Anton Lynn, Tom huge Chicago and Brennan sought and an unknown defenseman that I did not know who.
Okay, well, here's the thing.
And this is gonna be good for our next topic.
Here's what I say.
Colorado wins this trade because the Blackhawks need a fence when they got the keys.
Adora from solid.
But Brendan Side pretty much just insures that this Avalanche offensive front we put down the pencil here in the front two lines, they're going to be utterly unstoppable.
Yeah, if you have the first time when McKinnon, Landeskog Rantanen and then you have the second line Now you just have Brandon Saad and you know, they're already South Place that they have in their second line to I know I'm linking, You know, they also have some, you know, very good pieces already.
And it's just pretty much ensuring that.
Alright, Vegas might have the best defense in the West, but Colorado has the best offense now, So yeah, E without a question.
And, you know, I think he is.
The door will be decent with the Blackhawks, for sure.
Yeah, like Brandon Saad wasn't declared that he that he waas when Chicago was winning Stanley Cups, right? I think right now he's most likely your your third line player e even.
You know, even second line via the third line would also make sense for a shot at this point.
Yeah, all right.
What would you like? Um, what's what's our next topic? If you want point out? Eso And it is the other reason why I say Colorado wins that trade.
Not because, in my opinion, again, just a slight bit of a better player, but literally.
The following day, they just got Devontae from the Islanders.
That was a bad trade.
Second round picks Islanders.
What are you doing? Two second round picks for Kevin tapes.
And again they go.
You just replace the door off.
You're getting younger.
The door off? Probably cheap.
Colorado is just out here Just making smart moves up and right.
That's why I love that management.
And then you're just doing such a nice job.
Was pretty much in the same boat, like in Vegas. Doesn't win.
That's gotta be Colorado.
Like there's no excuses.
Time for them either.
You got the team toe.
Make it. You gotta make it.
I mean, the two second round picks are nice.
You really had to give up them and tapes for that.
Traded a slight worst player for two seconds. Yeah.
Third, the fourth.
And you get rid of, like, Johnny Boy check or something.
You could have done something like that.
This is gonna be your topic.
Bruins sign Craig Smith to a three year, 9.
So what do you think about Craig Smith to Boston? Smart Because they're gonna put him on the same line with Carelli and Majority, and he is going to be beautiful I'm projecting at least 25 points for Craig Smith.
If he doesn't get that, even in a shortened season, I'll be very disappointed.
Full 82 game season.
I'd say around 35 points be I'd be more than happy with that.
I say, in a shortened season around 20 you know, three like 28 points, I'd be satisfied.
You know, I think this guy could easily scored 15 goals if he's like on his A game, like he's pretty much gonna be playing on a line, you know, maybe even, you know, maybe switch him to the wing.
And I think he could do well with someone like Charlie Coyle as well.
I think I think there's a lot of places in this Bruins lineup or you can really slot in Craig Smith.
You know what would be the second or third line? I think you could really succeed either way.
I think right now he's more of a third liner.
I think you would agree to on that.
Yeah, yeah, but he could definitely, you know, even improve up to a second line or honestly, because, you know he is.
He's a very under a player with the Predators for a long time, and I've always enjoyed his game styling.
You know, the Bruins haven't done much, of course, outside of in a losing Torey Krug and resigning Kevin Millar.
They haven't done pretty much anything in free agency, but I was pretty satisfied with correct Smith.
I have been a little bit bummed out at the Bruins in they come up, you know, it's only a three year, nine million deal.
Like I say, you're gonna pretty stable third line up for, you know, another shot at, you know, just trying to win a cup.
I mean, he could certainly help out with that. Absolutely.
I mean, you know, based off his performances with National in the playoffs, he seems like a guy who can perform on the postseason.
So and and that's what the Bruins need right now, they need solid mid 20 year old players who have been to the playoffs already.
I think that's what the Bruins got focused on and I don't know.
I think the Bruins pick up one more defenseman and they might be good to go and I think a lot of people might be sleeping them again, next year, but yeah, pretty good signing Craig Smith.
What do you think I thought was exactly example? Um yeah, Well, yeah, Like Craig Smith is gonna be like your bomb six player, like you said, Like, parrot with Coralie and whoever the greatest.
So I think Craig Smith is gonna be a good addition to that line up.
Who will? Definitely slotting.
Well, I think I guess I think their lines perfect spot for him.
Like it said, be averages, you know, 25 points a year.
It's just a success.
Oh, and next Bergen goes a dude who went crazy in the Stanley Cup playoffs last year.
What a performance! And we did not know that this dude is ever going to go crazier than last year.
Three years, 10 million darling deal.
And they signed Center Rock fax Vasco I don't know.
Five years, 16 points.
So you're five million deal.
So let Z let's start with faster.
Yeah, Yeah, it's erotic.
Fox is how you pronounce it.
Okay, but no, I mean he's a good player.
You're still young.
I believe his rookie was 2016 e think it's 2015.
Yeah, it was 15.
16 or 14 or whatever, but he's still pretty young.
He's only gonna leave for, like, like, five years.
And this is your contract? Definitely makes sense.
Especially after the playoffs.
He had It definitely makes sense.
Like, you know, you want to resign, you know, pretty young player to a pretty expendable contract.
I mean, yeah, sure, you get paid quite a bit, but, you know, this is this is a break in the bank.
I feel like, you know, a team in the win now, mode like this.
I know he's gonna you know, he might even settle, but less because it was E.
I think if you know, another team was too well for him and even bigger contract, like a million or two more.
I think the honesty would have stayed with Dallas because I guess that just fits well in that system.
The only way I mean I mean 16 million is pretty much right around.
You know, It's not an overpayment, is not underpayment.
It's just right there.
Fair contract you have the next five years start should definitely be making the playoffs released for the next five years at least, right? So it can only be a you know, a good signing from here.
Hopefully doesn't fizzle out because he is a pretty under a player.
And I think definitely it was well deserved.
With that new contract.
And let's go with the man.
The legend. Anton Khudobin.
Yeah, well, yeah.
Uh, contract deserved it.
Yeah, I said, no surprise.
Three million. Three years.
I don't know what they do.
A bishop now, but mhm.
Even if it keeps us, you've got fantastic.
12 Punch it over.
It's officially passed the lack for best backup in the league.
Yeah, here's my eye.
Because he was pretty good on the brooms to, but whatever.
Yeah, all right.
Avalanche re signed defenseman Ryan Graves to three year, 9.
45 million per year.
That is a good contract, just like Iraq. Foster.
You know, it's not overpayments, not underpayment.
Right on the money is a fantastic contract.
You know, you put him up with newly acquired Devin tapes as your second line defenders.
I think both of those men could be averaging about 20 you know, five points a year.
So, honestly, because those two tapes and graves, they are assist machines.
If they do gel together again, I mean, three years again, one of the younger defenseman in the league or not even 10 million.
Nothing to complain about here.
Colorado was just getting another cornerstone.
They needed for a deep playoff runs or not complaints for me here.
Yeah. Ryan Graves.
Is your your top three defenseman on the team? Um, Kalma car.
Um, probably 1/4.
Who Chaves there is? Yeah, I guess.
And someone in the Myers pretty much.
We have another tried to talk about.
Nate Schmidt from the Vegas colonized is gonna play some Green Day holiday to the Vancouver Canucks.
First ever concert.
Random fact about me.
Anyway, um good move, Vancouver.
How'd you fleecing this bad *****? Schmidt is a very good defenseman.
You got a third round pick? Not from 2021 2022.
Unless Nate Smith suffers like a career ending injury, you want this trade by default, because what's gonna produce at least 25 points, maybe even 30.
If you put him on the first line, I imagine Alexander Edler will probably retire, you know, probably next year.
So pretty much getting the replacement.
You know, you're pretty much getting a younger Alexander Edler, in my opinion and more, you know, less physical more, you know, speed.
Smart move there.
How could you pass up that train? Yeah.
Um, next next topic that we did not point out about.
Just want to say Troy Stature.
Stein's put the Detroit Red Wings.
So where your thoughts about stature to Detroit, You know, they got the defenseman they need.
They got him up for four years, you know, I think four years Detroit could, you know, make a case for becoming a playoff team again.
He's still pretty young.
He's was mid twenties.
It was very good.
Pretty much his mid twenties.
You know, it was it was a very, very good asset for Vancouver, you know, personally, me, I think Vancouver would rather have made Smith over Troy stature, and I think the red rooms have Troy would rather have Troy setter in pretty much any other defenseman on their roster right now.
So, yeah, that's a pretty good signing.
Are pretty good. Yeah.
Pretty good signing.
They're not even paying them that.
But so paying them perfect amount, I can't complain.
Their choice is actually pretty good defensively.
All right? And now let's go back to Patrick Marleau.
He's not winning the Stanley Cup there.
Hey, Patrick Marleau.
You want to retire with the Sharks? I understand what you're doing.
I love the passion.
See, like I love the passionate this from him.
But especially if Joe Thornton signs elsewhere.
No, the mural belonging.
Destruction of former health, Ornate there, not to mention Europa, Belsky.
And, yeah, they're already gone.
Yeah, that's like, no sense, Marlowe.
I get what he's doing, but you're trying to go out as a champion.
You're telling me the Avalanche could assign them on the fourth line or something? They Why Patrick Marleau? They He needs to go to Colorado.
And this This needs to be a Ray Bork fashion.
Are you? Sign Thornton to Colorado and then Marlow and then Koivu.
And guess what? You're a Stanley Cup champions.
Yeah, well, I mean, like, it's this e I hope, since, you know, the sharks are projected to be horrific.
So I'm hoping by the deadline there's like, Hey, you wanna go back to Pittsburgh? Hey, you want to go to this? Continue a.
You want to go to the flies when I go to the Berlin's you want try? When a cup.
That's what they should be doing.
Because let's be riel.
You know, I know shark fans gonna be unhappy with us right now and again.
Why Marlo signing back with San Jose? Just don't do it when you work your career, your future Hall of Famer.
What better way to go out there winning a cup? Uh, I get the passionate.
Not good financial decisions.
Yeah, And one thing that I'm surprised about.
Panthers signed defenseman Ratko Buddha's.
I was shocked, E I thought that was going to a team like Toronto.
Toronto was the front runner since Cove it started.
Yeah, well, you know, obviously that he was gonna go to the main beliefs to or the sabers or something like that, but I guess they're definitely like team, obviously.
Florida, they need They need defenseman.
Honestly, Keith Yandle's you know Oh, there next, lads. Great.
But really, they're also the defense is kind of the Miss Side.
I mean, plus, now we're hearing that Mackenzie Wigger is on the trading block.
Who knows what's going on with that? You know, three or some 30.
5 Mel deal again.
Just like the majority of these contracts over payments this year, which is good.
Just another very good contract.
Three or some 30.
5 mil? It's a perfect contract.
I got booed as he is a veteran.
He has playoff exposure.
He knows you know how to pretty much managed the second line of that d cor.
He is the perfect fit for Florida.
And, uh, what has also been making a lot of moves? I know they signed Alexander Wennberg as well.
I think that community the third line, especially if looks like dang off, might not come back.
But, you know, Alexander Wennberg is pretty good signing and also rankled.
Buddha's definitely can't complain about this one either.
Pretty good signing there again.
Last last topic for the day.
Call tourists to the oil country.
I think this is a good contract in my mind, That's a hit or miss.
Um, like I thought he was going to team like like Columbus.
It definitely makes sense for him to go to Columbus, but ultimately went with Mikko Koivu.
And I think that's just because, you know, first was signed a day before Koivu.
But I mean, yeah, it's a two year, 3.
I mean, this is this again, just like you gotta just got bought off from Nashville.
We know he can perform well, if you know you put them in the right system, why not side that meant, you know, it would be a great you know, 2nd, 3rd liner for us.
They'll probably average at least 25 points in the season.
And okay, will be good.
I cultures will do that.
I will definitely have a bounce back here for sure.
I think you will put more in the boiler system they did in Nashville's.
Alright, that that's going to wrap up for for topics and instead of trivia instead of trivia, I think for a plus, food did not sign.
We're gonna bring back to the Classic will he resigned to this or not? Yes, that is a great idea.
All right, let let me pull that right.
We're only doing unrestricted free agents.
All right, let let me pull it up.
Do you do to do almost there and there we go.
All right, let's start with Ryan Nugent.
Hopkins, I do not know, is yeah, he's a restricted free agent and do not know his last salary.
It's not know he's Ryan Nugent. Hopkins.
He's the center at 27 years of age.
Will he resign with Edmonton? Yes or no? I mean, they probably should resign them.
I mean, I'd imagine that also managed to, you know, get the salary cap.
Tua's well, so I mean M Etten.
Then maybe missing a pretty key piece on the second line of the news wasn't to resign, right? So I I definitely said they re sign.
Yeah, I think Ryan Nugent Hopkins would re sign with Edmonton as a I would say, like around $4.
5 million per year.
Second mind worthy? Exactly.
I probably like 4.
5 on average 23 max four year deal, Simon tells you know early thirties.
They go pretty good.
Stenner Mikael Granlund.
He's a center at 28 years of age.
Will he resign with Nashville? Yes or no? I heard he was trying the free agent market, so I'm going to say no.
I think he could resign.
Alright, He could sign with Toronto or for Yeah.
Yeah, I think I think he should go to a team like Toronto, Edmonton or Calgary.
Hopefully if he goes Thio May please.
Maybe any people by his jersey.
Really? All right.
Next one, We're gonna go with my Kaufman left wing for the Florida Panthers.
He's 30 years old when he resigned with Florida. Yes.
Or now again, I think Florida has the salary cat to bring him back.
They should bring him back.
The thing is, Florida, there are a playoff team, but they're not a cup contending team.
And I think that's what might you know, have Hoffman, you know, kind of string away from Florida a little, but I think he wants a bit of a bigger market.
I think he wants, you know, a better shy at cup.
And that's why anything had the salary cap to do it.
Mike Hoffman will serve the New York Rain.
Yeah, um, for my Kaufman, I must say, sign with San Jose.
I'm just kidding.
I think he's gonna trade sharks like he costume drama.
And then they trade him, like, two weeks later or something.
Not like like, two hours, two hours that quickly, Lord.
And all seriousness, I think he's going to go to a team like Columbus or Pittsburgh for, like, a three or four years.
Burke. Pittsburgh would make sense.
Yeah, We're gonna go with another center out scalp Chetnik from the Minnesota Wild.
He's 26 years of age.
Will he resigned with Minnesota.
It's gonna be for a two year deal.
Yeah, pretty much.
I mean, he's pretty good, but he was not.
He was not the player that everyone wants him to be because it is so pretty good.
It's just he's not like, you know, coming out of, you know, Montreal.
You know? Yeah, that's got to make, like, a couple of All Star games, and they just say, you know, he hasn't met expectations, and you know that sense, but overall, he's still a pretty decent player.
Yeah, all right.
We'll do one more and then we can do trivia.
Caroline, Caroline, Hurricanes defenseman Sami Vatanen.
He's 29 years of age.
Well, he read with Carolina, you know, Trevor Van Riemsdyk, Exxon Washington.
I'm gonna say I'm gonna say yes because Carolina, they still you know, they have such a good defense.
Why would they want to break it up? I think they have gotten into a two year, three year deal.
I think that would be good.
That the seller cap, which they should Yeah, I think I'd be cool with him, you know, resigning with Carolina.
He's pretty good defenseman.
So Yeah, that'd be good.
Yeah, I'm gonna say this a shocking one.
I'm going to say that he's going to go to a team like ST Louis or Anaheim if they if Drysdale past training camp and preseason.
And it's funny you mentioned Anaheim.
We missed a huge free agency signing.
You want to the docks? E don't know how we miss Kevin Shattenkirk, but we miss Kevin Shattenkirk.
Let's talk about that.
Talking about Kevin Shattenkirk pretty much Do what? 3rd, 4th best defenseman on the market.
I guess when you kind of talking about, you know, just doing We're talking about a couple other signing.
We didn't really, you know, get to mention, um because there actually is still quite a few we didn't get to talk about.
Sign Kevin Shattenkirk the Ducks to a three year 11.7.
I mean, that's smart.
I mean, Anna High And, you know, not really a playoff, you know, right now, e think he could, you know, do wonderful.
So I got no complaints.
I have Yeah, I think I think it's a good help for for Anaheim, because you're You want to boost at that defense group like ampicillin.
Ha! Ampicillin home.
Josh Manson, Christian Jews.
About to be an NHL steal from 1/7 round seventh rounder.
And I and I was mad that day.
Traded him from Washington, huh? Hashtag trade.
Nick Johnson Drafted Jamie Drysdale, which was a big boost.
And if you add Sami Vatanen, guess what you're you're now in the bubble and the ducks do what they need Thio And like John Gibson played like 2017.
The Ducks might the hair on their chin might make the playoffs next year.
Really seems unlikely.
I think they're gonna have to do, you know, another year or two.
But, hey, you know, I love Ryan Getzlaf.
You know, go out on a high note, maybe re signed Corey Perry.
The magics back.
Yeah, All right.
I guess for trivia since we got everything out the way I believe.
Okay, lets see. Trivia.
Here is a good one.
Are, um Okay, um, let's see.
And then so before the land pressures for the Winnipeg Jets, they made the playoffs in 2000 and seven or 2000 and eight.
How many games did it took In round one.
The Rangers swept the Thrashers.
They brought them four games for Oh, that's when a couple playoff.
Serious. So I guess that kind of makes up for it.
Um, I asked Mayor custom.
All right, I'm gonna kind of stick with, you know, players, you know, I'm gonna try to, you know, come up with a few players who we were talking about today, and so last year, Cory Schneider had how Maney wins with the Devils coming, I'm gonna stay like 14.
He played in 13 games.
He had a 36 and to record and got pulled in a couple of games.
Tory Schneider is, uh yeah, yeah, he was in the h l for most of last year.
All right. Next question.
Hey, man, you learn something new every day? Okay, Ducky? All right.
Um, Thomas Greiss and coming next, Chris Osgood.
Just getting maybe.
Okay, So Thomas Greiss started his career with the San Jose Sharks.
What was his rookie year? 09 10.
I thought it was early 2010 of these.
Well, you only played three games, but but in full time with 090 10.
But I'll give you that point.
Okay? Yeah, but obviously you have seven away with them being for a year or whatever, so All right.
Well, like I said, you might as well sick with guys who just got signed.
I'm gonna do Jacob march from now.
How many career shutout does he have? Hey, Siri, No just take a guess.
How many shots does Jacob Markstrom having a I don't seem to have saved for Jacob Markstrom.
I'm gonna say 17.
Shut outs! Way lower! Way lower! Way lower! Calgary is Remember, Six year, 36 million Deal for a guy who first off didn't even get a shutout since 16. 17.
He's been playing weeks since 10 11.
He has five whopping career shut outs.
18 1 in 18 19 and two last year.
How did this man make the All Star game? I have no idea.
He is losing record, too.
Okay, Calgary, What are you doing? Okay, here is all right here.
We g o All right.
Our girlfriend, Nail Yaka.
Why? Why am I bringing him up? Oh, God.
What? Oh, what overall was he selected? Touch? Let's get a rush.
Yes, All right, Now, that was a joke.
That was a joke.
What was its plus minus in his career? Well, that's my scenario, Like, fast career.
Who is? I'm gonna say, minus 24.
Hire a minus forties No, minus 89.
Okay, let me explain.
This is rookie year.
He had minus four.
Okay, let's not back.
Okay, Get this on the second season.
I mean, I know he was on the lie I like.
I know he was on the ice for, like, 40 minutes a game, but jeez.
Okay, okay. Okay.
Third season minus 35.
Fourth season, which was even better. Minus 16.
Miles ahead of the minus 30 is good Lord.
And his fifth season when he was in ST Louis minus three.
Okay, what we'll give up.
That's respectable His last year, because before he was a massive massive bus.
My plus two improving.
You wanted the KHL.
Anyway, um, the good thing is that we reached about our right now, so I want to do one last one.
You just three years.
Tyson Barrie said his career high in points with how many? I think it's in the thirties.
Thirties is a doubt Hear from.
You have 39 last year.
Yeah, well, I was about 6. 39.
That was lasting and that No, that was a sets last year, but now his career high, 18 19 last year in Colorado.
45 assists, of course, equals to 59 points.
All right. All right.
That's my business.
All right, all right.
