So if you guys want So if you guys were just joining, it's just me today.
But the first half of the show him in 1st, 10 15 minutes.
I'm gonna spend time talking about the Lakers because, as the Lakers fan, I've, um, I haven't been able to celebrate the championship yet.
I don't want to celebrate it.
So, um, first off, let me congratulate them.
I congratulate the Miami Heat.
They played spectacular all proceeds along exceeding some people's expectations.
I'm wasn't I said this before the playoffs started.
I said, If Miami goes to the finals, I wouldn't be surprised.
I said it because I didn't go full for on and on a wide just said and picked the Miami Heat to beat the Bucks.
But I basically said, Hey, Miami beat the Bucks.
Wouldn't be surprised.
I said, We, me and want to sit on this show with Adam Taylor.
I believe Miami is the best shot of any team to beat Milwaukee because they didn't match up with them.
Um, and Jimmy Butler solidifying himself as a top 10 player.
And if you watched Game six, you just saw, like Miami look dead.
They look gas tired.
Werther's in the English Dictionary, that can explain you being exhausted.
That's how Miami looked in Game six.
And but we what? We saw what Jimmy Butler is capable of at his best.
His best can go toe to toe with the game's best.
Whether it's LeBron Katie, Jimmy Butler, he only honest in that Siri's no doubt about that, and I mean again not to go on the honest here.
But how can you be? How do you be the best player and then opposite dude is give you 40 and not be like, you know, a coach.
I got him like that's soft.
That's that's borderline soft.
I'm not calling Yanis soft.
I'm calling that, um decision Soft.
Jimmy Butler was getting 40 in game one.
Which game? One? Yes.
Not the end of the serious if you go down 10 but you want to get any game you can.
He He's in the top of 48 year like that.
I'm gonna do whatever the coach wants.
You kidding me? Um, and then they get And then in the conference finals, um, it wasn't necessarily Jimmy was bam out of bio.
They had no answer for him.
You want Thais? Couldn't do anything you want to.
Cantor couldn't do anything you want to either Tatum or one of the other smaller guys couldn't do anything.
The impact that bam out of bio had on that team in the conference finals.
Excuse me? One in that Siri's.
And then we saw it was to Jimmy Butler show again.
And then be a fun They needed to be the Jimmy Butler show.
And it wasn't for a mystery by Danny Green.
Terrible pass, Marquis Morris.
The Lakers probably close the deal in by, but, um, again Game six.
This team prided their self this year on on the defensive side of all, and it's just like Hollywood ending.
You start the year tough, gritty defense.
You're winning a lot of games because of your defense that's in Your offense was terrible, and you end the year with tough, gritty defense.
So typical for Frank Vogel being a head coach.
Just had talked to the guys, man.
Everybody from Ron A D playoff Rondo, which I guess we're allowed to call him that now, um, to KCP.
Well, he got a lot of slack and deservedly so.
Prior to these playoffs and the restart, the Lakers don't win without K C P.
They don't win without Casey.
People, LeBron and A D are the best players on and saying they don't win, Um, without racial Rondo them beat the Rockets or they might be the rocks but would have been nearly as close.
I mean, it would have been a lot closer with regime without racial Rondo, and they don't win the finals without Rajon Rondo or Rajon Rondo.
What, Um, you don't win without KCP K C P was big, multiple big time games throughout these playoffs that he doesn't play especially he's making up for Avery Bradley as well.
Who wasn't there? If I don't sound very good, please type in the chat if you were watching SportsCastr.
Um, but yeah, right.
So they needed a guy to step up, and I was like, Okay, who's can that be you cou show, like, Very like, small nib it's of it like Okay, let me I'm giving 15 and then the next game he'll get, like, four on three or 12 shooting.
I'm like, Okay, we are two of 12 shooting.
What the heck? Just got 15.
This level of consistency with Kyle Cruz was really the only problem with him.
He really stepped up defensively throughout the season.
He really improved.
Um, Dwight Howard being that energy guy, um and yeah, so had talked to his Lakers team.
And everybody's been talking about Jeannie recently.
Like how? You know, back in 1 2013 year, Kobe towards Achilles and your Kobe towards Achilles, Jeanie Buss gave Kobe Bryant a two year, $50 million century.
But like what the heck? Genie, that's terrible.
What are you doing? And Jeannie flat out said we got sent a message.
Really? This is how we take care of our our own And who does who do stuff for us who didn't represent this organization.
And yeah, they distinct for for a while.
From 21 14 to 27 or 18 the LeBron got there.
They suck bad, right? But they sent a message to the MBA.
Hey, where the greatest organization N b a history.
And I'm now going to say that because you wanna look back since the eighties Lakes with 1 11 championships to the Celtics by six six.
Yeah, they've almost doubled its five or six.
It almost doubled the Celtics championships in the same amount of time.
Want five of Kareem in a magic? You want five with Kobe in the in the first regular Bron James.
There you get one type Celtics all time on the all time, eh? NBA championships list.
It's incredible what what the Los Angeles Lakers have done.
Um, congrats again.
And now I mean, does LeBron go into the like similar to Kareem? I'm starting to think that now, like this LeBron and his career, obviously not at that level of player, but if he and his career as a Laker.
That's why I'm really wondering right now.
Is it really like a thing where he wants to play with the sun? If Ronnie gets drafted? Um, but yeah, that that's why I really worry.
I wonder about now. I'm not worried.
I'm not worried about that.
But is LeBron going to retire? Laker put down chat.
You guys think LeBron James will retire liquor? Because, I mean, that's something I really thought about recently.
What are the chances of LeBron James retires as a Los Angeles Lakers? What are the odds? Were the chances right, But again, rain number four for LeBron.
We number 17 for the Lakers.
The White has his first, ironically, in Orlando, just not as a part of the magic, um, Rondo, because I believe the second this is the second or third player in NBA history to win a bring with both the Lakers and the Celtics.
JaVale gets his third, Danny Green gets his third right.
Quick gets his third right.
I mean, he gets his third too.
I'm joking, love.
You couldn't cook.
Um, J r gets his second ring.
Um, that shirt on, if he knows the shirt as soon he didn't he didn't wait till he got the locker room are on the parade As soon as the shot clock expired up, the shirts coming off the church's hopped off.
Sure, it's been waiting for, however long they banned the bubble to get off.
And the shirt is finally off.
So the shirt like the shirt, everybody, the shirt is happy.
Make the shirt happy, and that's what Jerry's doing.
Um, and you know we'll talk about this on the next.
Who's the biggest threat to the Lakers on the West? Just say the Clippers.
I don't think so.
I think this year just proved it.
This is the year if you have lost this past year with you.
If you're the Los Angeles Clippers, to to make something happen, Doc Rivers here, head coach or first off, which is why Thio use the college football ****ogy when people are saying, Oh, the Michigan Wolverines and fire, Um, Jim Harbaugh, I'm like, Okay, fire him.
You're gonna get better than Jim Harbaugh.
Sure, he has a particularly met expectations.
You probably, like, just underperformed the expectations, but so you're gonna get better, right? I mean, at the time again, dab o one of the top four coaches and cultural Paul.
Right now he's locked up in Clemson.
Nick Saban ain't going nowhere.
At the time, Urban Meyer was the coach of our House state.
He ain't going nowhere.
Kirby Smart, Georgia.
Jimbo Fisher is now at Texas A and M.
So my thought process was okay.
Well, how you gonna get better than Jim Harbaugh and that, And that's why I don't think the Clippers, we're gonna be better next year or even be as good as they were this year.
Because I look at the team, I'm like, Okay, when you get better than Doc Rivers So that's my questioning.
Who do you find that is a better coach than Doc Rivers out there right now? And that's that's why I'm wondering.
So I don't think the Clippers are are the Rockets.
I think it depends on the coaches and what adjustments they make right? But I don't think this the Rockets, right.
Um, the Jazz, Yeah, may know Mavericks, I think, are literally a year away from an NBA championship opportunity.
I think there Chris Stops is the big thing and Chris Stops is healthy.
I think they can make a run.
They need some other pieces.
We talked about it with with Kirk.
Um, you guys last time, Shame on me.
But it was an episode sport Talents started podcasting platforms.
But we said with Kirk, and we're like, Okay, well, the Mavericks are piece away, their peace away.
Well, peace and a half now, because Kristof's health is always up in the air.
Um, who else? Right, The pelicans and now? No.
And there's two teams, two teams first, the Denver Nuggets.
And my only thing is with the Nuggets.
How do you get better when the West is going to get better next year? How do you get better? Right? Is it player development? Is it trades? How do you get better for the Denver Nuggets? That's the one thing I'm I'm really puzzled by with this team.
How does a team like Denver who over cheat us in a small mark? Overachieve That's in a small market? A small but a like not l.
Not Miami, New York, Chicago, Dallas.
Not those markets, but housing team like Denver improve when they already over achieved right? How do How do you improve? So that's one of the things that that really puzzles me about the Denver Nuggets.
Like Okay, how do you get better if you're the Denver Nuggets? Sports Headlines episode with me, Sean Davis Warner's on today.
But I'm if you're just joining, I'm talking about before we get to the NFL stuff.
Who's the biggest threat to the Los Angeles Lakers this year or next? This upcoming year? And for me, the answer has to be the Golden State Warriors because the Warriors or the biggest match your problem.
The Warriors aren't the Clippers.
They're not the Nuggets, where your best job mama, is this stuff, right? And Yokich isn't Clay or Jochen.
Jamal is in clay because you want a D guarding Clay Thompson, who's just gonna be moving around like, all game long, like he's a rabbit going for cheese or whatever you want.
You want Anthony Davis guarding that? That's the problem.
You want LeBron chasing around step ball game.
Maybe in the clutch? Yeah, I mean, for 40 mn kcp.
No, no, KCP Isn't that elite level defender.
You have Danny Green is in the San Antonio Spurs.
God that we saw that was elite defender.
He's not that guy.
But there's not one.
There's not just it's not just that It's Clay Thompson, too, right? So who else, then? Rondo, Stop.
That's my problem with this.
That's my worry for next year.
Who do they have? Assuming steps, Steps should be back.
Good is the hand, and he's been working out steps should be fine. It's clay.
If Clay comes back to any shape or form what he was last year, Yeah, last year or two years ago.
Now the Lakers are in trouble.
Who? How do you guard that team? I like the Lakers odds against the Clippers, because in a clutch LeBron LeBron on Paul George A D on Kauai or flip it right, you could easily switch that if they go ball screen actions.
I obviously like our chances.
We already beat them.
We already beat them.
Portland should be better, especially with a full year completely healthy.
But I like our chances get port against Portland except defensively.
But Golden State, when healthy, they play sound defense, and they're going to score the ball at will.
Offensively, How do the Lakers match up against that? That's my worry is the Lakers fan.
So, in my opinion, the Golden State's the biggest threat.
So the Los Angeles Lakers next year and then the championship pedigree, which is very underrated.
We make jokes on the show that Dabo Swinney whenever he gets asked the question.
Hey, Coach Sweeney.
Um, Travis CCN broke a 25 yard play for run for a touchdown when he easily could be attacked with line scrimmage.
What were your thoughts on that play? Well, you know, he had the Harvard champion Rachel.
Okay, That asked nothing to do with questions.
But anyway, hey, coach, from your defense.
You know, uh, could it Creating pressure in the first half.
And in the third quarter, your defense got three sacks.
What are your thoughts on that? Well, Rachel, we had a heart of a champion.
That's about it.
You know, we have the heart of a champion, you know, that's that is good Things happen. Like, Come on, now, stop.
We don't need to hear that every time.
But seriously, championship pedigree is very underrated.
And when you look across the Western Conference, the Clippers, besides Kawai, who has it, who has it right that lemon pepper Lou doesn't have it, right? Playoff PG 13% from the field doesn't have it.
Shout out to my friends.
So our boy in my room, um Denver doesn't have it.
That's no diss to them, but they don't have it.
Portland doesn't have it.
We saw that we got to the conference finals.
By the way, people said, Well, yeah, they got swept.
Well, guess what? Poorly lead in the fourth quarter, every game but championship pedigree.
Golden State had it right.
What? In Houston, they don't have it right.
The Onley team in the West.
That is, when fully healthy.
That's somewhat good enough.
That has to compete with the Lakers.
That has that championship pedigree consistently is the Warriors.
Step Clay Dre, right, Steve Kerr.
And then they're gonna bring in veteran pieces as well.
And they're gonna have the number two pick in the draft which they could trade or they can keep right and and to me this year, I think the number two overall pick and most years is severely valuable I'm not so sure It's really valuable this year.
I don't know about that.
I think they their best best to keep a gay guy like James Wiseman with second paper somebody else.
Because I look at that Number two pick in this year's draft class.
I'm like, Is it that valuable? The number 20 The number two pick that, that valuable? Um, bottom of the hour.
We'll get into NFL Weekly.
Um, so, yeah, I look at this Lakers team.
I think Golden State's the biggest threat.
Um, the back to the Lakers, you know, NBA champions for the 17th time.
LeBron has won four championships now, and at this point, he's in 17 season.
Which, by the way, is another reason why things go because you look a the Mount Rushmore basketball, right? You get.
In my opinion, I heard that, like somebody I respect said this to me.
I was like, You know what? I can respect that.
As long as your top four or your goat is either Kareem Magic.
I'm not married cream, Kobe, LeBron or MJ.
I might disagree, but it's not gonna be egregious.
I'm not gonna take your ridiculous right.
But we look at those four players the only two that at this stage of their careers were still dominant.
Or like first or second.
Best player on the team was LeBron Karima.
Year 17 wasn't in contention.
Being the best player in the world.
James, you're 17 player, one big injury.
It was like a touring.
It was like a Terry Torn A C l or something like that toward Achilles.
The best player on this team, the best player in the world again.
If it's four MVPs, four finals M v p.
That's why that's a big reason why LeBron's might go.
Are they go? In my opinion, the longevity, the durability, Kobe, MJ injuries, Kobe, MJ, you're 17 and the career or at this state, age 35.
Maybe MJ was good, right? Or was he this good where you look at him? You're like, Oh, my gosh, Like, how is he doing this? And really quickly Hold on.
While you played well, give his 15 season right was his last year is there's 35 season.
He didn't play in his ear.
Um 3rd 34 season.
What's his? What's his 13th season? The MBA, Right? Because he did it, Lady, you're prior and listen and J.
Sure, and LeBron will never have this scoring titles that Michael Jordan did.
He'll never get there.
