What's going on from John King Nation? Gorgeous George and goes checking in.
I know it's Wednesday.
We're kind of not supposed to be here unless you missed last week.
Last week's announcement waas that Mondays and Thursdays is gonna be our new jam going forward.
We're gonna do have, um, a junkie radio on SportsCastr Mondays and Thursdays.
So you gain today.
Now, Wednesday was your day on SportsCastr.
We love doing junkie radio on Wednesdays on SportsCastr, but they shifted us around.
So it's like we're combining forces with our podcast.
That's the day way.
And we're a little bit more locked in its live.
You know, it's live and way Have a guest every week.
So we're just kind of here to give you Ah, reminder.
Uh, this is a fun show.
A loose show that we're gonna have today.
We will talk a little bit of mm, A.
But I just wanted to give you as many reminders as possible.
So this is one of about three total will throw it in the middle and then throw it at the end of the show.
What's going on? Goes how you doing? I'm good.
How are you doing? All right.
I'm glad we're doing this stuff because e mean, if we've learned anything over the years, you gotta constantly remind people.
And sometimes people don't catch every shelf, but we just wanna make sure everybody knows going forward Mondays and Thursdays, 9 a.
And if you're a podcast listener now you get video with your podcast, which is really cool, because back in the day, that's what you were used to, right? So you hear us talking about things and all the antics that happened Now you get to see him.
And don't forget, for the longest time we were at Mandalay Bay were in a pandemics that were not there right now.
But eventually, we'll probably make our way back there.
When we do that, I'd be fun, because then we can actually have the co host with us in studio.
So lots of cool things can come out of the SportsCastr thing.
And I hope everybody loves it.
Uh, look, I think that's the attention to detail that we've had over the years to pop back in and check in and make sure everyone got the word We did it last week, but we still didn't feel it.
Didn't feel right.
And trust me if we still kind of get that occasional direct message or email or whatever.
Hey, you guys just move just here because there's a lot of people that are on Twitter and Facebook and Instagram all day.
Alright, their noses inside their phone attached to their phone and they're punching away buttons.
And then there's other people that check it once every once a day, once every other day, once a week.
And there's a lot of people that only check it like once a month, honestly.
So the more you can get it out there, the better.
We've been at home for what, six or seven months now, like Go said, We haven't been back to Mandalay Bay Way can.
It's open for business.
If you wanna go to Vegas and have a vacation, you can.
You just have to wear a mask everywhere, and it's not open to its full capacity yet as far as restaurants and bars.
So it's been slow to come back, and as far as we're concerned, waken do this at home with no mask with no worries about.
Well, who's that person over there sneezing.
And who is this person over here? Coffin.
We gotta write this thing out.
At this point, I wonder what it would even sound like.
Let's see, I have a mask.
Do I just completely Here.
Picture Uran in studio guests.
You're the fighter, and we're talking to you and you're telling us and reacting and laughing and ****ed off about a story that you're telling us we can't see all those emotions.
All we can see is your eyes and, um e I mean, it's it's literally like it's literally like when Commissioner Gordon would be talking to Batman.
He had no idea who Bruce Wayne was.
He just knew he was talking about man could see a pair of eyeballs in there somewhere.
But, you know, I don't know it Z not the same If if Dana White or one of the big stars and mm a said Hey, look, I just want to do it with you guys in studio, but not at your house.
Then I guess we all mask up and go down there.
What you gonna do? You know, but But can you even hear me? Yeah, like, do I sound somewhat okay? Or I feel like, completely ****led.
Hey, you brought up Batman.
Yeah, that was funny.
But how ridiculous was Robin? Because think about it.
I'm wearing mawr of a disguise right now than Robin Waas.
Right? All he did.
He's **** Grayson.
So basically, I'm **** Grayson, or I'm Robyn right now.
And then I could have just walked out, and then this came back in the room and confusion that word would have been.
Who's this fella? Hey, all you had was this That right? Same build.
And then he had a real distinguished distinguishable voice, too.
Yeah, like that one was a little We this Batman.
You know, like I mean, I guess he took, I guess he changed course on that, you know? Good morning, Bruce.
You know, but But still it was silly.
If I were ordinate would take me maybe two of them meetings before I go.
Hey, let me let me talk to you over here.
Robin, let me ask you something, right? We're secrets, you know, But let's let's not it's not **** each other around over here.
I mean, painfully obvious who you are, but and I will play along.
But, you know, And then how about Alfred when he addresses bad man and still throw people off a car? Just drove by and waved.
Okay, I get that part, but he would actually get out, and he just didn't have the build.
Social media would have killed Batman, Right? Because think about it.
Like think about how many people would go ham on 80 84th and first I just saw Batman, right? Like, wouldn't all the criminals go Batman's out tonight or he's over there, would go rob this bank, or even, like somebody just like, Hey, man, I'm fishing and you'll never believe what just ****ing flew out of those cave.
I think I know where the bat cave is like there's no way Batman would hate social media.
But I will say this for the old show.
The old Siri's is.
If you watched it, you had Who was it? Eventually DC Comics or Marvel that D C comics put out the movies, right? They invented them.
That's why I had a difficult adjustment watching Michael Keaton, Val Kilmer George Clooney and the Dark Batman is a couple of them were cool and all, but I grew up with the other Siri's silly as it may be, At the time, it felt pretty good.
It felt pretty riel on.
But the villains were ****ing money.
The Joker, the Riddler, the Penguin.
You know that Danny DeVito.
I was like, What the **** is this guy that guy look like? Uh huh, That was probably I think that was the worst Batman.
But I thought, like character wise and all that kind of blew a little bit.
That would be the money.
That would be like the Baltimore Ravens pulling Ray Lewis out of the game and inserting me.
I mean, I just don't measure up to play middle linebacker for the Baltimore Ravens that you know.
And I know a few people love the Joker's because that's their only joker.
I get that so I can't **** on people going really like the Jackie or the even the magnificent.
But all the other jokers, um, you know, Heath Ledger and walking feet.
You like those diapers? I mean, but But I get it because that's what they grew up on.
They have no idea who Adam West is, you know.
And But if you got lucky enough to see them all, then you just have a different appreciation for all of them.
But Cesar Romero was Ah, great Joker E, don't think you needed to go surfing.
As as the Joker is.
Well, uh, but in Frank Gore Shin, I think, was the name of the Riddler.
Lee Merryweather was the cat woman.
I mean, as ***y as you can get, you can't topper.
Well, they had a couple, right? Yeah, but she was a former Miss America.
I don't know if she even made in this universe.
So when they in 30 of her, I was like, Oh, ****, You know what I mean? But then she also rocked the the characters.
Well, and then ****ey was the penguin, right? What's his name? MEREDITH.
Something very who became Nikki and rock? Yeah.
Forget who? King Tut Waas and a few others.
It was a Mr Freeze, I think.
But those three were the were the best.
And as a little kid man, you came home.
When you put on Batman, you were tickled to death.
And you got that fight scene at the end.
Maybe that's why I wound up liking fighting so much is because, uh, shows like that, you know, would be Batman and Robin against the Joker and maybe five or six goons.
Sometimes when we have three goons, I'm like, What you gonna do? You got your ass kicked, like, you know, two weeks ago When, When When When you tried toe pull a caper and you had six goons with you.
And on this episode, you only have three. You don't stand a chance.
I have a beef against the fight scene.
I like, you know, Pau and all those like, the only one I didn't like was Zap.
Zap was dumb to me because, pal, I get that boom.
Okay, had sunk right or something.
I think that sunk, but zap.
Yeah, like whoever talks about a fighter.
Yeah, there it was.
Man were at White Castle, and all of a sudden this guy comes out zap.
You don't hear that.
They need to read the mother.
You think about it. Zap.
Yeah, like if you said man last weekend, I got zapped.
Some guy just got me like coal company.
You know, I think Z I'll give you that. It's a stretch.
Yeah, but yeah, those Those were good.
And and ever since I was a little kid, I always rooted for the bad guy.
Batman and Robin would win, and it was cool, but I got tired of it, and I started training for the bad guys.
And, man, I remember sometimes they would come in with the Joker, would team up with the Penguin.
So then they'd combine forces and they'd be, like, nine on two.
But then bad girl would show up.
But that's why I always rooted for the wrestling heels I rooted for.
The bad guys are rooted for the really rotten.
Um, I don't know.
I just always like the bad guy.
Hey, how did A Wasn't Bad girl, wasn't she? Commissioner Gordon's daughter? Yeah.
I think, uh, did he never Was that another one where he was like, Who is this chick? I don't You know what? It hit the check.
I have to check.
But she just had, like, a regular apartment building in Gotham, which is obviously in New York. city.
So how that wasn't noticeable.
I mean, I guess she came out through an alley.
She had a cute little moped or I don't know what it was, but that I don't know.
And then she always just disappeared.
You know, that was her thing.
That's why I hear somebody go Where's and Poor sold.
So I disappear like that girl.
She would be right after the fight.
But, hey, let's questions asked, You know, the better.
Hey, let's talk about a couple of things here.
Um, again, we're moving on Mondays and Thursdays noon Eastern 9 a.
Pacific Live here on SportsCastr and I was watching goes Fight Island declassified.
It's a Siris on ESPN, plus that the UFC has done about the behind the scenes, uh, interactions of the ultimate Fighting championship with a little Sprinkle of Hey, we're in a pandemic.
What are we doing? They don't really mention, um, touchy Palace.
They start with Jacksonville.
The three shows they got in Jacksonville, and it's rather quick.
The big focus is obviously Fight Island.
That's what it's called Fight Island declassified.
So get a little taste of Jacksonville.
But then, bam, they get into fight Island.
I'm two episodes in and it's awesome.
Have you seen them? Yeah, I've seen bits and pieces of it.
I like to play it in the garage.
It's got, It's It's close, I think, as they've ever come, because I know they've tried lots of times, almost like 24 7.
What they used to do on HBO boxing, the way they filmed it, who's ever directs it or produces it? That's the closest they've come, and I love 24 7.
But that thing was legit.
I thought it was really cool.
I wanna I wanna actually sit down and just dedicate that our toe watching an episode because I just kind of watch it off and on.
But but the stuff they do is really cool.
I'm two episodes in, and I've seen so much footage of stuff that, um, I didn't even imagine what's going on behind the scenes like like I've been in a production truck before.
So I've seen what's happening.
You know, the back end of a show that's being put on and seeing how the director, the producer and everyone behind the scene, you know how they're putting it out to the audience.
But this one was a little bit more elaborate because you know that this was a three fight for fight run in three weeks, 15 days, actually, to be exact.
And not only was it hey, we need to pull off these fights.
It was also Hey, we just need to get sports back, you know, And, um so that little island was completely shut down just to the UFC.
And so the people from Abu Dhabi and their contribution and just making things happen, it was awesome.
And then there's a few things behind the scenes that you could see they were struggling with, like they had some audio problems and some graphic problems.
But the show must go on, you know, a zoo. All that's happening.
You got people putting out fires, but I'll go to fighters, income to fighters.
I'll go to fighters, income to fighters.
And they're just progressing, progressing, progressing.
It's the show that winds up with Jorge Mas at all and Camara Guzman.
And then now we're slowly approaching Davis and figure out Oh, versus Jorge Joseph Benavidez.
But two episodes in I can't wait to watch the 3rd and 4th.
Mm hmm. they got.
It's been quite a few like, I mean, this era that we're in now, not grown or anything like that.
But it's the most behind the scenes you've ever seen of things.
And there's so many different sports, so many different shows.
It's really, really cool.
I got wrapped up in, um on Showtime.
Anything it is, they're doing the comedy store and they're interviewing people.
And now they got started there and the background of how all that works and and what comedians had to go through that kind of get to where they are.
Like, I love behind the scene stuff.
So that's all that's all about me right there. I love that show.
I would never tell you I went there once.
Um, I think it was in the eighties.
And, man, I want to say that night Sam Kennison was there, but I I don't remember.
I remember going to the comedy store before it Really, really, I guess, started to blow up.
And but it was just a quick dropping and I didn't know any of the comedians.
Um, the open night at the time.
Yeah, it was just e think I was hoping like trying to put things in perspective.
I think you were just hoping like a George Carlin, Richard Pryor or one of those guys was gonna show up that night.
But eso it was about Richard Pryor and the effect that he had using he was there, and that was really causing you like that.
Rodney Dangerfield did a special that, um he did a special that that Sam Kennison was part of and a few others and it sprung their careers.
You know what I mean? Being on there, I'll have to look it up and I'll give you some names and you'll just go.
And it's similar to what Joe Rogan did from the podcast world, you know, getting his podcast going and bringing comedians on.
And now, of course, you see, every comedian has their own podcast, and they have a bigger profile.
Joe Rogan was very, very, um, unselfish in promoting everybody else.
And they were called the Death squad at one point, right with our interfere Joey Diaz.
And now they're also big.
They all kind of have their own thing going on.
Moore? He started one is well after Rogan.
But, you know, he was the one through him.
I heard of Thomas Thomas Agora and Bert Chrysler.
But Rodney Dangerfield had that type of effect at the comedy store.
I remember he, you know, kind of threw a run that he had.
And Sam Kennison was one of them.
And I want to see Robin Harris was another one goes, Remember him? Yeah.
Based kids, babies, kids and party.
Yeah, There was some good comedians.
Um, during that time.
Anyway, so check out Fine Island Declassified.
I think you'll love it.
I don't think Just give me one episode.
If you think it sucks, let me have it on social media. You're an idiot.
How could you make me waste 45 minutes or whatever it is, all right.
You know, like I got it wrong, but I bet you 99.
9% of you will go ****.
That was awesome, man.
George has great a credit.
The next thing George recommends.
I'm watching it on.
I think it's a slam dunk. It's lit up. I didn't do any of it.
I'm just telling you, I know good television.
You know when I watch it or good Internet when I watch it.
But it was just something different from everything the UFC has offered us in the past.
Um, it's behind the scenes, like, embedded and And then it's got a little bit of the countdown field because you're they're not promoting the fight, the fights already taking place, But they're kind of going through the stages of how a fight kind of got together.
Um, anyway, another thing I want to talk about was within this morning's briefings, you know, just reading the news and all that.
I saw an interview with ESPN's area Wani and Dustin Poitier, and Dustin Ploy explains why he didn't take the Michael Chandler fight.
And, man, I love it when stuff comes full circle goes because when we had Eddie Alvarez on way, didn't have him on SportsCastr, we just did an interview with him, and I remember him saying, Man, lightweight, they're gonna be ****ed when they find out how much Michael Chandler made.
And we said for Riel and he goes you up.
We asked Chandler about it.
He had a great poker face.
He just said E I want to take care of my family.
And I'm I don't discuss my financials, but I was very happy with the contract I was given.
But you could tell inside it was like, you know, like, he he robbed the brink's truck or something like that.
So, you know, he was co signing what? I'm what Eddie Alvarez was saying And Eddie Alvarez wasn't hating, and Dustin Ploy wasn't heating dust.
Employees only made the point that by the time I got to him versus Chandler because, you see, was pitching first Ferguson versus Boy.
No, no, we're not happy with what we're making.
All right, Ferguson versus Chandler.
Oh, no, that didn't work out.
OK, Chandler versus boy before settling on Chandler, you just the backup to G and no, my tomatoes.
The U C did try, but they couldn't.
They couldn't figure it out.
And it looked like one sticky point with boy was Look, man, I've been with you guys for over a decade.
I've spilled a lot of blood.
I've proven myself as a main event guy.
As an interim champion.
As a bonus guy, I can't make less than Michael Chandler.
So you know that interview? Uh huh.
I can't hate him for that, can you? I can't hate him for that either.
And again, he said I I'm happy that Michael Chandler got a lot of money.
You know, he goes.
But this is just how I feel about it, because I think pointing you.
He also had options.
Oh, really? You can't.
Well, that puts boy back in the Ferguson sweepstakes.
Or maybe even in the McGregor sweepstakes, if that happens.
So he has other fish to fry, you know? But at that time, that was kind of his stance.
Now, since then, hey said paid in full.
That was a simple tweet that he put So I would expect whoever he's gonna fight.
He knows his purse is sat.
And, you know, now it's just a matter of figuring out who's going to get who now that now that said, I think at this point it all just hinges on Norma.
Madoff and G were only 10 days away.
It's on October 24th goes and I will be doing a UFC 2 54 Watch long here on SportsCastr.
Remember, there's a on early start time.
Pacific For the main card.
It's a pay per view we're going to dip in at 10 a.
m. Pacific 1 p.m. Eastern.
We'll ride with you for the final two fights of the premiums Those air free, Um, but then once it turns into a pay per view, you've got to make the decision.
If you're buying the paper view or not, if you are, join us.
If you're not even better, we'll tell you what's happening.
October 24th here on sports cancer.
Don't forget that goes that fight.
I think it just needs to happen.
Chandler will know if he's We obviously has gotten the opportunity to fight one of those two on.
If he hasn't, then I think now we start putting the pieces of the puzzle together.
Yeah, Chandler had this nice, uh, tweet toe dust employee said I've always admired how Dustin Poi conducts himself.
I didn't take his decision any kind of way.
Get on your diamond.
I'm here and ready to earn my spot in this division.
I look forward to bleeding with you down the line and Dustin responded with respect.
Two of the nicest dudes out there, man.
And they've gotten it done without really having to do much of the smack talk.
You know me, man.
I love the drama, and I love the smack talk, and sometimes they get in there, you know? Hey, what's going on there? You know, they kicked down the door.
What's going on? And they'll say something here and there.
But for the most part, they really conduct themselves as professional.
They let their actions speak for themselves, and they got a great record that one could look at and say, Yep, they backed it up.
I don't know why I need Diaz has been throwing a little bit of shade.
Um, he didn't even fight play.
I actually had the look and say wow, Was I in a coma for for years? E I don't understand why he didn't correct him.
E was just so weird.
Okay, I don't know, but he does not like the potential of McGregor versus poi A.
I could see him and McGregor having beef there. One in one.
But you just don't have You have to strike when they need you.
Just like Mas Vidal did when Burns tested positive for Kobe.
And they needed the main event against Against the tomorrow.
Zeman Mas Vidal struck.
He got paid great.
But other than that, they'll just plug and play, you know.
Put him over there.
Put him over there. Put him on next week's card.
Put him on next month's pay per view.
You know what I mean? And if they don't like it, then well, they've now.
They're being clear about it.
We'll just move on before these to go.
Well, we'll have to figure it out.
I have to call, mate.
See what's going on.
You know the Diaz brothers? They could be Now Dana is going now.
He doesn't want it.
So we're just promote the next one.
They got the stars to do it.
Of course, we all want to see you fighting eight.
Of course we do.
We're not hating on that.
I just think there has to be a different strategy and look at the clock.
You know, you're not a spring chicken anymore.
Um I mean, boy, the Diaz brothers man, I just thought this was their time.
They didn't have to worry about marijuana.
They could smoke up.
So the week of man till almost the day of lands.
And that wouldn't be a problem anymore.
And how about now? You wouldn't even have to face the media.
It's all virtual.
They hate doing the media, the media stuff, the open workouts.
They just go in there and fight.
No, that nowhere to be found.
I don't think Nick Diaz will ever fight again.
And I honestly think it has to do with I don't think he can.
The whole you saw the app and all that, letting someone know where you're gonna be 24 7 e can't remember who we talked, Thio but they were telling us about how, just how much they have to plug and play into that.
There's no way a guy like, uh, Chandler was telling us every day, right? Every day at night, I think you put in what you're doing the next day or where you could be found the next day where you could be found like and if you if that information doesn't match up, but you imagine they would probably be one of the guys that get tested the most, Um, you get strikes.
And once you get so many that you're done, What may have happened to Nick? Actually, I think that may have happened to him at one point.
Get a new story.
No shows, you know? Yeah.
I don't know, man.
It's really, really frustrating.
It's not difficult to do.
Channel was telling us that they send you a reminder.
Now, it's not even like you have to log in and do it.
You just basically get a text like, Hey, food.
Where you at tomorrow? You know, that's basically what you saw was asking you put in.
Well, I'm renting a house here.
I think I got a chiropractic visit, and once you put it in, I think it memorizes, you know? And plus, you know, when they call you, you still have, like, an hour or two to get to where you said you were gonna be.
So if the chiropractor where to go your appointment in today, dummy, It's the massage down the street.
When they text you, you have an hour to get back to the chiropractic office or the gym when you told them you were gonna meet him.
So it Z it's almost It's almost dummy proof.
Yeah, all right.
