Sites went final score 30 to 27 tonight.
To be honest with you, this game in the first half was absolutely stagnated and stuff like that.
The charges had their way with the Saints.
Um, defense Saints offense was absolutely stagnated in the first half.
We couldn't get nothing going, but in the end, we went 30 to 27.
So final score 30 to 27.
Once again, we all live here on, um, SportsCastr Facebook and YouTube so forth.

Uh, let's go ahead and go to the Sean Payton press conference here from Sean Payton.
I'm gonna switch it over and we will go through this game, um, accidentally.
So once again, 61 30 to 27.
So I'm gonna go through that, hold us up, And if you're Drew Brees, you can't hold the ball and go for those chunk plays if you're constantly under pressure.
So I understand the frustration for fans.
They want to see more efficient offense, but it's tough to throw the ball if you constantly under that kind of harassment.
So if you Drew Brees, he's doing the best.
He can not turn it over.
And he did that one time tonight, set up touchdown.
But he's doing the best he can to run this offense and not turn it over and be efficient, and that's a difficult thing to do.
But he and Emmanuel Sanders seemed to have found a good rhythm. People.
We have to talk about a name that we haven't really talked a whole lot about.
He came out of left field.
Marquez Callaway for the Saints, the undrafted rookie out of Tennessee.
He certainly made a name for himself with the Saints tonight.
Well, one thing he did was he made sure that deonte Harris is gonna get back pretty quickly and tell you that because hey, look good in the return game.
Now I say that I'm joking, of course, because deonte is an all Pro.
But look, my core S.
Calloway had a nice game in the return game.
I thought he was way all listen to the shop way.
Recap What happened in this game? A couple of families wiped out some good returns from him, but we saw the experience he has at the return.
He had a Tennessee way, also saw the courage he had returned because he brought a couple out of the end zone.
He did a really nice job.
Didn't make bad decisions.
He didn't fare catch inside 10 or anything like that.
He made really positive strides in that return games for the Saints.
You know you've got a good good situation because you've got an All Pro and Deontay Harris Deontay Harris.
For whatever reason, if you can't play because of injury or if he flops a bit, you've got Marquis Calloway, who would come out and be extremely effective in the return game for you.
D. We have to talk about the secondary.
We talked a little bit about penalties most of those coming on special teams tonight for the Saints, but, you know, without generous jackrabbit Jenkins, you had Marshawn Lattimore out there.
The starter for the Saints.
But where can this secondary improved? Especially in that long ball? Well, their communication is off.
They haven't busted coverages, and you can't have that with this defense on.
I'm talking about five games until the regular season and all training camp.
I don't care if it's you know myself and you know, rhythm Hassett out there.
You've got to be able to have your your communication down your coverage.
You gotta be better that you can't.
You can't have guys running loose in the secondary that way that that z really, really somewhat embarrassing.
Number one if you're the Saints and to you, put yourself in too much jeopardy doing that, I mean that last touchdown pass the long, longer Patrick Robinson turn that responsibility over.
And I think you turn it over the markets.
Williams, You know, you could almost see Patrick Robinson stop running on that because he thought he had help and he didn't have a communication in there.
The execution in there.
And if I'm an opponent or the saints, I'm going to continue to throw it deep until they show me that they could defend those passes.
We've been talking about the same thing now this entire season and it hasn't gotten any better.
So, you know, the Saints will have a bye week there.
Have some extra time, hopefully clean it up, but they can't expect to be very successful if they can't clean it up.
You know what, JD? I'm not gonna let you go that easy.
I'm a little upset.
You chose Brendan, our videographer over me.
I've got some length to me.
I've got some communication skills.
We've got our chemistry.
Yeah, well, Brendan, Brendan.
Brenda's got some quick twitch, though.
And I don't know if you got that.
Well, we're waiting for head coach Sean Payton.
We're talking to our senior ****yst inside the Mercedes Benz Superdome in John D.
A guy who's really stepped up for the Saints this year in the absence of Marcus Davenport has been Trey Hendrickson.
5 sacks tonight.
5 sacks on the season.
How much improvement has he made this year? We'll post being talked about it this week.
Trees came a little weight.
He's maintained that way.
He's improved his strength before and a half sacks he has was already tied for his career season high.
5 and an entire season a couple of years ago, so he is a guy who is relentless in terms off.
He continues to push forward, and he could be able to be affected because the same has such a deep rotation, especially with marking that market.
Davenport back on the field Marcus Davenport has some really good rush plays in this game where he collapsed the pocket, got to the quarterback.
He didn't come up with a sack for the applied the pressure.
Now you get three.
Hendrickson's okay, we're gonna go go some place in the same game.
But we'll wait for Sean Payton.
Know their bull****.
So we're gonna go through the place, let me go through the final place of this game.
So we're gonna go through those scoring place.
I've put that up on my screen to share screens, so we'll come back to Sean Payton and just a few minutes.
So I'm gonna come back to that.
So we'll we'll be on the lookout for Sean Payton.
Let's go ahead and give you those winning plays.
Can score plays on the screen, so we will show him scoring place.
Um, the charges scored on the non play 80 yard drive took four minutes and 33 seconds off the clock, so that was a kindred Allen's touchdown from Justin Herbert.
UH took six minutes and 26 seconds, so that score was six.
Then will Luxe came back with a five play, 18 yard drive.
Took two minutes and 41 seconds off the Tom Possession.
It was 63 on it, Um, and then Mike Williams had a four yard touchdown.
Seven plays, 75 yards that took three minutes and 59 seconds.
UH, lead was 13 3 Chargers at the 11 01 mark, also 100.
Hendry had three yard touchdown from Justin Herbert.
It was on three plays, one yard, so that was the three yards scored.
Then Breeze came back and scored on eight play.
51 yard drive took many 45 off the clock.
It was 20 to 10 and then, um, well, locks came back with a field goal.
Cut the lead to adjust a seven point lead that was on seven plays, 40 yards, three minutes 25 seconds off the time of possession, four minutes and 52 seconds.
Let's see if Sean Payton is in the Prescott.
Let's go to Sean Payton.
So we're gonna switch back over to Sean Payton.
So I'm going to switch it back over the Sean Payton.
So so we could hear from Sean Payton.
It has thoughts on this game.
What would you like? A Justin Herbert? Especially there in the fourth quarter.
So it's pretty big for a Yeah, Listen, he's a good young talent.
Um, you don't feel like you're playing against a young player.
You know? He's he's someone that gets the ball out of his hands.
Um, you know, I think he's got a promising future, and he's impressive to watch.
So how large did you feel like that? Directing the under penalty bloom discourse? The remainder of the okay.
How large did you feel like the erupting? The under penalty blue? Three guys just chasing points.
Well, look, any any of those e mean, that's a possession penalty, and yet you know we'll take a peek at it on film, but there's always that tough decision.
I think as you Askew rushed the punter for the official to make a call roughing or running into.
But, um, you know, all of them were significant.
And fortunately, we overcame John.
What was your initial impressions understand Tonight? How did I feel like he played? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
I thought he played well.
Way started getting the ball in his hands a little bit later into the half and then the second half, But I thought he played overall. He played well.
I thought a few of our you know, Calloway played well, playing a lot of snaps tonight and probably didn't get track.
Want as many touches we would have liked.
But overall, you know, we found enough enough offense in the second half.
Really? In the fourth quarter toe.
Wait a now, look, every week, You know, you look at it.
Um, it was a win.
Um, you know, there are a number of things that we've got to clean up and we'll get back to work here next week.
Um, it will be in tomorrow.
Will be in the next day.
We'll be able to address some of the things we feel like we haven't done well and get ready.
Then toe start playing after the by someone preserve.
Half of it was more of a you guys.
Well, look, they did a good job of giving us a few different looks on early downs.
We got a little bit more pressure from their defense.
You know that on.
And I think, you know, we made a few plays down the field.
The third down throw toe, two cooks was a huge play.
I don't know what the distance was.
I know it was third and long. It was a great find by Drew.
Um, defensively, we got stops there, especially on the fourth down.
Play there at the end.
And I thought way hit their quarterback enough.
Um, pretty athletic.
You got out of the pocket a few times and made some place.
Um, you know a lot of different elements to the game, but it was good to get the win.
The oh, well, there.
Oh, Sean, Will Michael suspension Just be one game? How would you? Yeah, I'll keep you posted.
That's that's something we'll discuss.
Uh, and we'll let you know what the time when the time is right.
E don't want to talk about.
I want to talk about the players to play tonight.
You know, it's kind of a run pass option.
Um, they covered it fairly well.
And yet when they do that, there's the numbers.
Then you know you have that one extra player relative to, you know, the quarterback that can carry it.
Um, yeah, that was a good way to finish that drive.
So we owe last night.
Basically pardon that closure.
What did you see on that step from my album? From here on? Yes.
The last problem.
You know, it's pretty big play.
It's kind of a little choice route pump.
Um, it is good play over his head.
He, you know, he kind of hit Did the target a little bit on the defender kick.
Returning overtime was a big play, brought us out across the 30 and gave us a little momentum.
Last question is that Just catch up my eyes and around with that's the one was a big play that we've got to clean up.
And it's, you know, kind of Ah, Post Spear, we gotta We gotta get on top of one, and that's something we'll be able. Thio.
We'll be able to clean up, and it's something that we have to Like.
I said, There are a few things offensively and defensively that a I don't want to say plague this, but we haven't been as good at in the first quarter pole of the season.
We've got to improve on those areas.
One last question.
So when you're coming, going into a by week, is it ever harder as a coach to impress upon to the players e between e.
I mean, you know, win master of the problems that you can tell? No, we try not to let it either way a win or loss.
I mean, the film is important for us toe to make the corrections and teach from and yeah, you know that that's the really the essence of what we do in the beginning of the week is making the corrections.
You know, we talk about that race to improve and to get better.
Uh, we're in that race.
All right. Thank you.
Okay, once again that Sean Payton, I'll be honest with you.
Look, they're gonna have to clean up some some of the trash that they had in this game tonight because the run plays was just a loose.
Some of them would just just crappy and stuff like that.
I mean, you can't explain it, but the big players that they gave up What's those? Touch that 64 yard touchdown.
What? Some weight, Um, that a player coming up.
So I'm not a player coming up, so wait, fire away.
All right. Jared first.
What did you see on that? That crazy touchdown? Whatever.
That was, um, the one you had.
E uh, it was kind of the underneath coverage was kind of running with me.
You said I muted, man.
They probably having some problem.
Sorry about that.
All good. I've been carried up.
Um, the underneath coverage was kind of running with me, but the safety was tilted, uh, to us two thirds.
He was side, and then the backside corner was just kind of sloughing.
They're lagging off.
So my job is just kind of get over to the other side of the field and open it up for whoever is running the scene.
Hami and I just kind of got over top of him.
And I think Drew got a little flushed in the pocket and rolled out to his left, and he was able to hit me in stride.
It was a beautiful throat right over the top of the backside corner.
And before the safety got there, next question from Underhill.
There was Was there something you guys did is an adjustment.
It seems like after that interception, things kind of really started opening up enrolling for you guys a little bit more on offense.
Uh, we just try to continue to push the tempo, man, Uh, you know, didn't change too much is just making sure we stay in and then don't let them take us out of next questions from Luke Johnson when you're going through a game, touchdown was your first target.
What do you have to do that? Just, like stay focused and make sure you're not looking away with E.
I just try to have fun.
You don't get a lot of opportunities like this, you know, uh, so I just try to enjoy myself.
Andi, just do what I can and, you know, listen to the music.
Sing along to the songs on encourage the defense and encourage my team man to stay in, you see, on any particular songs along Oh, every single one.
Experts from Katherine. Carol.
When you got hurt, did you think of the time you're going to be ableto come back this quickly? And are you playing through a lot of pain right now? You know, when you get hurt, you always, uh you always think about you know how fast you can come back and it z like one of those things that you kind of take for granted sometimes, right? So you try to get back out there as fast as you can.
It still bothers me a little bit, but, you know, I'm not really worried about it too much.
I just like to go out there, play, have fun.
You know, get a fans what they need.
It would have been nice to do this in front of our fans tonight, and hopefully we can do that in a couple of weeks.
When it's it's a little bit more of a packed crowd in the house.
Uh, last one from Andrew Dope Hatred.
There were several times throughout this game where it looked like Emmanuel Sanders was just kind of like vocally after catches, like just trying to create energy for the offensive.
How much? How much do you feel like you guys feed off of that and have t o do that with no fans in the stands? Continually, I think it's huge for me. Personally.
I think it gives me moment, because if I see another one of my teammates eating and they get hype getting up, getting height after after a catch, it made me want to go out there and eat, too.
It made me want to get my groove on, just like they are.
So, uh for East Sanders to be able to go out there and just continue to look to the sideline, keep hyping this up.
And he was getting on their nerves, too.
So, uh, I think it's huge for us, and I think that continues to build momentum for us. Offensive.
Okay, that was Jerry Cooke waiting for another player.
Come, So another player coming up now that's Alvin Kamara, all right, we about to marry her.
First questions from Nick Johnson help! Help, in a way, takes them, obviously is a heck of a runner.
Um, you know, it was it was a pass play, but I don't know if he heard me, but before the play, I'm like, don't be scared to run in here.
I think he was mostly somebody or saying something to somebody else.
But I did my little fake and I looked back and I saw he was running and I was, like, test down already knew it.
So, you know, I mean, like I said, he's a heck of a run.
A heck of a player, e I was big for Next question is from Jeff Duncan.
How, then can you tell us about the big past reception you made their late in the game down the sideline? And And where is that catch rank among your best catch, man.
Uh, I mean, Drew put it in a He gave me the best chance to to be able to catch the ball.
Um, you know, I just tried to focus on and try to get it.
I knew it was gonna be a new It was kind of like a crunch time playing.
You know, I just tried to keep focus on the on the ball tryto late hands.
And, you know, I came up with it, thankfully, but I mean, that was a big catch.
Next comes from Nick Underhill.
Was there an adjustment after that? That interception from July? Guess what kind of seem like a turning point where you guys started to execute a little bit better.
Was there anything differently? Did or was it just kind of locking in and doing things you needed? Dio.
I mean, just lock in.
I mean, way couldn't really get into too much of a rhythm throughout the game, you know? So it was one of those games where we just had to battle the whole time and just just fighting and claw and scratch.
You know, that's one of them times where you know who that nation.
That's when we that's when we need our fans in that stadium.
I mean, that's that's huge.
But the fans that we did have, they did their part.
Um, you know, we just we just need some more.
But, you know, we just got way fought and we just got a Grammy win.
We have to do that.
Next one's from Luke Johnson.
Calvin, the only to start faster on its hard toe.
Answer that right after the game.
But it seems like they're building up a 14 point deficit or whatever is not.
Oh, that's not That's not hard to answer.
We definitely got to start faster.
We gotta We gotta get our offense and what we wanna do We gotta We gotta get going faster.
Get in a rhythm faster.
You know, um, just just be efficient, You know, um, within what we wanna within the place, we wanna call.
So that's on all of us.
We all got to get better. That's for me. That's gonna drew.
I mean, everybody.
We just gotta execute.
We gotta get more faster excellence from Amy.
Just with the anti Marquez, Callaway, Kipketer and apartments on anybody's more on offense.
How would you assess his play today? Man? That's my That's my ball.
Brother Kwehz went to Tennessee together, so I mean, I know he got it in him.
Uh, you know, I just talked to him and just tell him, you know, make a play. Just go do something.
Go do something.
So you know, his name was called and he did what he had to do with the next man up.
You know he's playing well.
He's getting comfortable more and more as the games go on.
And, you know, I just I'm happy to see it because, you know, I was I went to college with himself.
It's fun to see that next one from Rod Water album.
We watched your some of your off season workouts and you're balancing on things and catching stuff.
So those kind of workouts happy with make those plays like the one you made him sound like mothers? Definitely.
I mean, I can I can think of three drills that, uh, my trainer sheriff made me do in the off season that, you know, is that ball right there.
You know what I'm saying? So as much as I was tired of seeing Shareef and and doing all these drills and stuff like that, is the offseason dwindle down? It's like that's what we do it for, you know? So definitely like I mean, that's like I said, that's what we do it for.
Last questions from Nick Underhill.
You mentioned fun and scratching and kind of that feeling, and every day, or just if you felt that a lot more this season.
You feel like you guys have kind of your started.
You feel like that? There's still things that you gotta figure out coming out of this.
I mean, it's definitely things we still gotta figure out.
You know, it's hard to win in this league every week is it is a challenge.
Um, you know, there's no game we're going into like, Oh, yeah, this is easy win.
You know, we're going to a game like we're trying to get the desired outcome, which is a win, but, you know, way No, we got to come with our A game every game.
So you know, some games there faster starts another.
Some games we, you know, we're getting getting what we want more than other games.
But you know, it is what it is.
It's a different flavor to every game.
And tonight was just It was It was a dirty, dirty, dirty games.
So we just had thio like you.
Like I said, clawing, scratching and come out on top.
Thank you, Robin E once again, Alvin Kamara.
Uh, not a player coming up with every wait for him.
So wait for the next players to come up, and then we'll go through the place.
You're quite okay.
Tomorrow, Davis, here.
First question is gonna be from with Johnson tomorrow.
I just wonder when you're initial observations were about Justin Herbert, since you had a pretty good game for you out here.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
He's playing really good for a rookie.
I mean, we saw it on tape.
I mean understanding that he's a rookie.
I mean, he's in the NFL S o.
You have opponent out there.
You gotta be ready for him.
Um, you know, for rookies, a lot of things that you understand, they're gonna be one dimensional end, But he definitely doesn't play like a rookie.
Plays with a lot of confidence.
And, um, you know, he put his He put his team in a lot of good situations.
Hey, took advantage of a lot of situations and made plays when they needed to.
We knew it was gonna be a challenge, and, um, they made it tough on us.
From Michael Cocoa getting Mario that fourth down stuff.
What did you see? And where you at all concerned that your momentum carry him into the first down? Uhh.
No, I mean, you don't think about that much.
We knew it was gonna be a situation where the ball was gonna be out quick way.
We're gonna cover zero.
So you wanna get pressure on the quarterback? Um, I understood he had been throwing quick passes all night and had been limited us to be ableto get sack.
So I knew it would be a pressure, but it wasn't gonna be a sack.
And so my man blocked me.
I wanted to drop low hole and take away any kind of passing lane.
Marshawn made a made a tremendous place play.
And he was I saw his body was in position, uh, to get to stop.
Um, but I wasn't sure if he was going to get the first down regardless.
And so I was going for for a punch out on the ball and was good and realized they were short.
So play with may.
Next question from Andrew Dope.
Some guys have kind of mentioned this is one of those where you you grind out a win and then just kind of get happy that you're you're in the bye week.
You could fix things.
Then I just just What's the one thing that you were focused on wanting to fix when you get the virus present for? I mean, you always wanna be improving? Uh, that's the thing.
One thing I'm I'm happy about.
You know, this team, this defense, though, is something that we could fix is we're opportunistic when opportunity way, we're gonna have to be able to make those plays no matter what kind of situation way are in the game thing.
Team jumped out early on us and we were able to rally back as a team.
And any time you're able to do that, you're facing adversity.
You're gonna be in good shape.
Um, it's a marathon.
And so it's all about who can make the best pit stops.
I guess during the week, you know, change the tires, rotate, fix This week's in the engine, and, you know, we got a top notch coaching staff.
They're going, they're gonna find areas that we need to correct.
Put him in front of us, and they're gonna challenge us to make sure that we're doing and playing at a high level weekend.
That's why we've been successful in the past.
And I think that's why we'll continue to be successful.
Next question from Luke Johnson.
Hey, tomorrow, What was the feeling in your gut when, uh, ******l lining up for that? They came in a field goal, wait for the end of the game.
And then what? What can you say about Will love you? Seems like he's pretty automatic out there, Uh, in that situation, you know, you're just hoping that they missed, you know, if they missed, we got a chance.
And, you know, in a game was just trying to find a way to win.
Uh, so when he lines up to kick you like, Okay, if he misses, we got a chance.
Um, Will has been phenomenal a za long as I've been here, and he's been phenomenal.
Um, you know, and so, um, there's definitely especially when you've got good players on your team like that.
Thank you. Tomorrow. Thank you, guys. You guys be blessed.
Okay, once again tomorrow.
Davis, I'm gonna be honest with you.
What? Some of the plays tonight and in the game was just absolutely just The defense was kind of getting a slaughter in the first half with Justin her with that young man.
What's what's again? I'll hold my thought and, uh, your apology.
Very God, Sanders.
Great President Shot, please.
First questions from Jeff Duncan.
We could see you making some of those catches tonight.
Tryingto it may be the sidelines you stuff for showing some energy.
Was it difficult tonight because lack of no crowd here toe get into this game? I love playing football, and I just hope, you know, when I when I'm out there in the field of people to see that, you know? But yeah, obviously my job eyes to bring energy every time I make a catch and we're moving the ball.
Obviously it puts pressure on the defense.
You know, this game is about mo mentum.
This way is left and right, left and right.
And so, you know, I'm always trying to shift that momento our side and get guys going get guys, understand that we could win this game, and we don't have to make it close.
And so, you know, that's what I'm about.
But at the same time.
Sometimes I'll be losing my mind out there a little bit because I just I love to play the game.
And, you know, I'd be excited to make place because I worked so hard during the week.
And it feels good when the hard work pays off.
Next question is from Amy.
Just speaking of moments, Uh, when Jason came in and ran and that was apparently a past place, what did you see there? And how big is that for him and all Y'all? It was big for the team.
When I saw him run in, I was excited.
Trust, You know, at the end of today, it's all about winning games.
And so, uh, tasting brings a different element for us, right? Uh, you can run the ball, He could pass the ball and, uh, defensive coordinators got a scheme for him.
And so you know, to see him get this far, I think that's his first touchdown of the year.
And hopefully we can build off that next question from Nick Johnston.
Yeah, two parter for me.
1st of all, what was your immediate reaction? But we'll go Uh oh, man, I was I was obviously happy, but, you know, But I knew it was time to go.
It was go time, and I was hoping we could win the coin to us because I just knew that we were gonna go down and get some kind of points.
And so we're able to do that.
And we were able to win the game and going into the Bible with, uh, you can't You can't.
You can't beat that.
So, uh, I'm gonna be feeling good during the bye week e u.
You said when you came here a number of times you wanted to be in the past that you are no today exactly what you're talking about.
That's exactly what I was talking about.
I think that's the most catches ever had in the game.
So I feel is good.
Something to build off way got the win in it. So that's all that matters.
Next question from Nick Underhill.
Yeah, it seems like you really dominated during that second I e think maybe 100 yards or close to it.
What opened up for you coming out of halftime, e think, Sean, You know, he just wanted to target me and get the ball in my hands and it felt good.
That's everything you wanted to receiver, right? That's why I came here.
Uh, support champagne.
Look at me and I know the play call is put me and me and Drew working the scene.
So it happened at night, and it's something build off of what's what's even better is that way.
Got, argue the best receiver you know in the world, you know, coming off from his performance last year, coming back to.
So for me and him to work together and try to take this offense to even better level.
I just feel like this guy's a limit.
Last question from Andrew.
You I'm just curious.
And did you kind of mentioned Sean Payton? I mean, at halftime, did he not like the first half that he called in or did? He didn't feel like he needed to switch things up.
You know, Sean, you know, he he honestly believes in four quarters of football, and so he came in.
He just said, Let's go on win, Let's come back, you know, on that's what we were able to do.
And hey believed in it and stuck with this plan and everything started open up in the 3rd and 4th quarter, for we're all set.
Thanks, Emmanuel. Thank you.
I'm way we're gonna have Cam here.
We go ahead and put questions in the chat.
Okay? Once again, Cam Jordan coming on way are gonna Hey, listen to the press conferences, and then we'll recap this game for you Europe.
And if you have any questions or comments, come on down.
Please put your comments in the SportsCastr YouTube and Facebook chat rooms.
Or, if you wanna come on video, chat, thestreet yard length or post it, um, in all three of those networks, you could, um, come in and talk on air.
So I say, Looks like, uh what was it, a bear? Was it a bear? His name is labor.
Uh, no, it's Herbert.
It was It was confirmed. Herbert.
Okay, I'm sorry. Continue.
Oh, we're on mute.
Kim is going to begin with an opening remark.
Yeah, I was just I was just looking for their confirmation.
Is that Herbert or a bear? I sort of have sort of made everybody who's not from New Orleans mad.
Um, with that a bear Herbert situation was your confirmation.
Okay? I thought so.
I thought so. Over.
Sorry, because there's another You know, his name was thinking the game.
Young kids out there taking, ah lot of hits today.
I think I d line our I think our front seven got after him pretty well.
Um, you know, he made a lot of a lot of great plays down the stretch, and that's something.
You know, that he may be a force to be reckoned with for the years to come.
He's showing us, um, some huge potential.
Next question from Andrew Dope.
Yeah, I'm guessing it feels good to solve some of the defensive problems with the wind, But you know what you feel like has led to some of the coverage lapses in the back end.
That's something we gotta break, break down the film and get right soon, especially when it comes down to, uh, trying to be a stout defense.
That's something we can't give up.
And, uh, you know, we're going to rally back, and especially when when you know you've got guys like best defense in the league.
Best dressed the linemen for sure.
Make sure make sure he on Mondays best it did Sunday.
So he by itself, Monday's best for sure.
Look, you know what I'm saying? I say, Mayor Control, watch out because you know he's gonna be a mayor soon.
Hey, look, he he looking real regal.
I'm just saying he come in three piece ready at all times tomorrow, Davis. Probably.
You know, First team All Pro tomorrow, Davis.
Probably gonna be.
Is there something better than first team or pro? Probably be that excellence from Rod Walker camera.
I will make a lot of spectacular plays with you.
Think about that kid you made on, uh, over the top man.
He Hey, that's a grown man play.
Um, you know, we know he's a special player, and he makes special place those air, one of them.
I mean, it's like it's like when you, you know, you gotta be the double team to get a Sakic's.
I know it's like that feeling, you know, when you go snatch one over the top and a crucial, crucial down and make a big play for your team has huge.
Oh, next comes from Amy.
Just another big day for Henderson today.
Uh, how important with on the other side, man.
Uh, if I'm taking doubles, he's getting his singles.
He finally got a little bit chip life.
He came over the side like they chip me.
Welcome to this life.
They're starting to respect you.
That being said, we gotta We gotta you know, we gotta win are singles.
We gotta be able to create this, uh, this uncomfortable in this for for quarterbacks game in, game out.
And I think he's growing at a rapid pace.
I've been singing praises for the last four years.
You guys start finally starting to see what I've been talking about.
Next one from Nick Underhill.
Just following up on that, it seemed like the poor man rush was really effective today.
Was there anything different about the way you guys were attacking? Realized that maybe come back and go a little more than another research? Just Everybody went in the match up.
It wasn't a chip.
Every play, right? It wasn't nudge every play, huh? They decided, toe leave the man on the island for a second.
What happens when you catch those one on one.
You gotta win your one on one.
That's all it comes down to.
Next one from Luke Johnson and a market. Absolutely.
Aziz getting back involved.
You see, You know he's getting back to the field of game and we're gonna be playing.
It's gonna be even more exciting once we get the fans back in with them fans come in and it's me.
Markets and trade rolling through Sheldon Rankins, you know, talk about Malcolm and and everybody on our D line that has a plan just being even mawr amped up with our fans coming back eventually.
Right? When these games, Sometimes soon.
Then it's gonna be even more of an avalanche.
But that's what we gotta do. We gotta create.
We've got to create uncomfortable pockets with quarterbacks.
Um, we're all set.
Appreciate it. Camp? Yeah.
Did the other states uh okay, not a player coming up, so we'll be waiting for the next player come up.
So I'm gonna be honest with Kevin.
Jordan made some good plays in that game tonight.
I mean, sure, we had a little stagnation.
Um, in the first half.
To be honest with just a moment, folks, wait, We're three minutes.
So wait for Drew Brees to come up.
So Drew Brees will be up in just a few moments.
Once again, um, if you have a question, the comment about tonight's game are whatever you could push your comments were the YouTube Facebook and also SportsCastr chat rooms.
We all watching this, um, the strange now.
So we want you to come in.
We want you toe in Iraq blue bucket hat and your Nike pull over.
And then next week, postgame show, I expect you to be dressed like Cam Jordan.
I'm going with e Think of a better description.
E o E way you could do that was just dirty.
Uh, you figure out a way that way on that word.
So once again, that plug that 64 year old testament, we're gonna go back to the oh, they busted coverage in the Oh, that Marshall lateral.
He should have known about that play.
I mean, that's 64 yard touchdown, Mike wave, because that guy was absolutely catching the football tonight.
He was catching the ball tonight I mean, that's just no words to describe it.
Surely come in the game.
So looks like the only guy was able to get open.
Looks like a breeze to come up with a way have been coming up.
Um, so they should be played that you're getting ready.
Oh, it was suspended for this game.
But we owe about tonight's game.
You can when he developed, we will go, Tonto plays and stuff.
Knows where you going to show you what happened? Those you're capable of producing.
So, once again, thanks for joining us here on this, uh, addition of sports talk, carry reminders, show science postgame show way are recapping tonight's games since 1 30 27.
There will be off next week.
Um, now, the next couple of weeks after this game after this bye week, it's gonna It's gonna be the biggest week off them all.
Well, you know, last year with an All Pro before that, but it also, uh, kind of player for the same.
He's been arguably the free agent, doesn't rest on his laws and fall back into the same stuff that happened in the first couple of weeks because, um, the thing is, he's one of those guys you got, you got You got a You can't just look back at these games and say you know what happened.
So once again, uh, forward.
So we're gonna go ahead and recap this game.
We'll give you some recaps on this game tonight.
So I'm gonna give you once again I'm gonna switch my screen, my share, screen over to we'll have your breeze up on the screen will come back to him in just a second.
So let's go back to the scoring plays.
We'll go back to the scoring plays.
Okay? The last the score plays, um, it was 2020.
Jared Cook had a 41 yard touchdown.
So that was the past play that tied the game up a 20.
And then Mike Williams said that 64 yard pass play that was so on foreplay.
78 yards in the game and also Taysom Hill had a nine yard run.
Hill did, but the thing is, let's use him in a different um right now Will Lux kicks a 36 yard field goal to win the game 30 to 27 on nine plays and 48 yards, four minutes and 52 seconds.
And then 508 off of the Tom of the scoring playtime.
So once again, that is Wait for the Drew Brees.
Um, press conference.
So let's go ahead and give you some stats on this game about to give you some stats right now about to break down the stats for you.
Okay, once again.
23 1st downs for the ST 17 on pass plays, six on run tonight.
So that was how the saying some since went five for 15 on third down.
Um, l A went eight for 17 so they went over one on fourth down.
So it was that that stopped that got the saints to win.
Um, you say, thank you.
75 plays in the game, Saint said 408 yards, uh, charges at 3.
Dr. Saints at 13.
Charges at 14 past place where, um drew praise past 48 times.
So it's 33 or 48 for 3 13 now the run, the running game.
They kind of went a little.
There were a little stagnant in the first half, but they got going.
They had 25 carries for about 95 yards, 3.
8 yards for carriers, so they have to be a little bit more consistent.
But they had five penalties in the game.
That's something you cannot allow to do in those games, because that's some.
Get your mental to your drives.
So we are looking at the places.
Um, give me those plays.
Drew Brees is on the screen, so we're gonna be once again.
Let's go through those.
Once again, Let's go through the box scores. Okay.
The box score breeze.
What? 33 or 47? 3.
He was sacked twice, so he should, uh, Justin.
Herbert, this young man, I am very impressed with this young man.
He had 20 or 34 to 64 in the game.
He was sacked three times.
His quarterback rating was 74.
4 and rating was 1 22 7.
So his numbers was very good.
Um, now, your main, um, saints wide receiver that contribute tonight was, uh, Emmanuel Sanders with 12 catches for 1 22 he was targeted 14 times album camera, eight catches, 74 yards.
Uh, Jared Cook to catches 52 mark ways.
Uh, Callaway, This is another guy I like.
Right here. I want to see mawr.
Positive production out of him.
Um, Martavis Murray had two catches for 23.
Smith had to for eight.
Hell had one for one, and then Taysom Hill in the game.
So once again, manual someone's from of the ball, but did not lose it.
Now, the sacks tonight, um, was our three Cam Jordan got 0.5.
Um, Trey Henderson got one, and then Sheldon Rankins got one.
So that was the three sacks the quarterback hits.
They hit, um, Herbert 12 times in the game tonight.
So they had excellent penetration.
But the thing is, you cannot give up those big place.
That's just something that has toe, um, stop in the end.
So once again, your final score Saints went 30 to 27.
So we will go over that.
Those plays for you.
Let's go over the touchdown play.
The last touchdown play that got him up 27 21.
Spoke to that play.
Okay, This was someplace right here.
He Herbert had passed for 14 yards, and then he had that 64 yard touchdown that was on 3rd and 10.
You cannot I cannot say that any clearer.
You cannot give up these plays on 3rd and 10.
You have to be more consistent when it comes to those.
So that's just some.
That's just what they what I'm looking at right here.
This is where it happened.
This is on 3rd and 10.
So these are the third and longs.
You cannot allow toe happen on 3rd and 10.
and so 64 yard pass place that's 64 yard pass play.
Should have never ever happened.
That's gonna be corrected before Drew Brees back on the thing.
Switch back over to that.
Um, you know, listen, big moment.
The game obviously needed that touchdown end up tying the game and brought us back from, you know, 17 points down toe.
Tie it up, and obviously we felt like we were gonna go win the game at that point.
But 3rd, 15 or 16 I think to and, um you know, they played somewhat unorthodox coverage, and, um, you know, he's really kind of on a clear out route, but just kind of had my eyes on him in my periphery and felt like, you know, they were flat foot and he could get by him, and it was great for him.
Toe to get by and get that big play.
Next question is from Jeff Duncan.
This is only the second wind of your career.
Uh, in a game, you're returning by 17 points.
The other one was against the Dolphins in 2000 and nine.
Were you aware of that? Yeah, but 11 2040 Niners playoffs should have won that.
When we were down, 17 came back.
Uh, playoff game against Minnesota down 17.
Minneapolis Miracle should have won that one.
So I know there's this exact number of 17 but I'm sure if we clumped in, like the 13 14 15 you know, there would be be quite a bit more, but, um, no.
I mean, listen, bottom line is way we're not playing saints football in the first half way.
Missed a lot about way were bad on 34 situations.
That was sustained drives.
You know, we made some mistakes in the kicking game that, you know, prolonged drives for them on day just, you know, obviously had a turnover that gave them seven points.
So, you know, at the end of the day were down 23 we've made a bunch of missed aches once of self inflicted wounds.
E think second half came out and really dialed in, um, execution both in the passing game, in the run game defense camp with big stops.
And obviously we just scratched and clawed her way back.
Next question is from Nick Hamilton.
Hey, Drew, with this potentially being, uh, last time you guys tell your home team, how does it help you to go undefeated against that team? Um, listen, man, I got a great great memories from my Charger Days 2001 to 2005.
Played with some pretty amazing teammates and coaches and obvious that fan base.
Um, it's a shame they're not in San Diego anymore.
I'll say that one more time, but no, it's ah, you know, obviously, all those games have been significant.
08 12 16 and then in 2020 have really had some great games against him.
In fact, I think every single one of them has come down to, you know, the final drive in the game.
So that's significant.
Questions from My Triplets It drew after coming back from a 14 nothing last week and 22 3 this week.
I suppose you could go glass half full of glass, half empty with what is your take on this team as you head into the by three teams Underachieving team.
You feel good about where you guys are.
I would say there's always room for improvement.
We obviously want to start faster way, definitely wanna start faster and understand again what wins and loses football games.
And I'd say the first half there were too many mistake's to get you beat.
Two mistakes get you beat.
Um, you know, we shouldn't have had toe mount the comeback we had to mount in order to win this game.
But at the end of the day, these air, these air growing experiences, these great experiences, we do have some guys.
They're continuing to grow and develop into certain roles.
I'm really encouraged by the way that Calloway play tonight.
You know, special teams and on offense, he did a phenomenal job.
I know there's guys on defense and special teams doing the same thing as well.
So, um you know, Tina Damon, we're still growing and have winds like this, You know, where you really have toe fight, toe win, you know, just like we did last week to overcome that 14 point deficit.
Tonight it's overcoming 17 point deficit.
These air, this is how you grow as a team.
This is how you become battle tested.
And I think it pays dividends as you move along here.
Just Yeah, that tastes and touched on the tied up even later, Like, 50 seconds or something left in regulation.
How big was that for him? Especially since the game didn't necessarily start the best for him personally.
He had a great game all the way around.
Um, he, uh that was a big play.
Obviously, it shows the confidence that we have in him that Sean has a put him in a critical third down.
And, um, you know, he kind of had a run pass option and made a great decision.
Got in the end zone and tied the game.
Next, loans from Luke Johnson.
Okay, who have been talking for, like, the whole season about Emmanuel Sanders? I was gonna put you right now.
It seems like he's a Yeah, listen, he's a He's a weapon.
Hey, could do a lot of things.
He's a savvy football player, you know.
He's played a lot of football.
He understands the game, you know, you understand so many things about you know how to run, how to run certain rounds, you know how to get separation when when the ball's coming.
Obviously, we've been able to spend a lot of time together.
You know, I think, Listen, you know, we didn't really get off season together.
We didn't get preseason game.
So, you know, you get into this season and obviously Mike goes down and then it's, you know, you're just you're just kind of trying to find your rhythm and your timing with not just him, but with everybody, you know.
And, um, I think obviously, here we are, weak five.
But I think you've seen over the last two weeks you know, just how that's progressed on what a huge part of this offense he could be.
Next month from Jeff Duncan.
It drew How disappointing was the situation with Mike Thomas, and it is a leader of the team.
Do you feel the need toe? Maybe address it with him one on one? I've spoken with Mike, Mike and I talk a lot, both in person, in the locker room, through text message.
We're always communicating.
And so at the end of day, Mike is a big part of this team and he's gonna be a big part of this team moving forward.
Um, you know there was way had an incident and Sean addressed it.
And many of the leaders have spoken with Micah's well, and we're gonna be all good excellence from Andrew Joke.
What do you think was the toughest thing to be able to find rhythm early on in the game? It seemed like before that two minute drive before the half it seemed like it.
Things were just kind of sputtering and off of that kind of relish, winning in that type of wages, personally, having having to grind it out.
Yeah, listen, these air growth experiences, I mean, it's ah, it's certainly nice if you could just go out and score a bunch of points in the first half and then just cruised to victory.
But you know, Aziz, we know in this league, man, you gotta You gotta fight it out to the very end.
This is the way most games, you know, finish, You know, with the final possession.
Now, most games you don't get in a 22 3 whole, you know, based on just, you know, missed aches and not not playing, you know, really great football in all three phases for the first half of the game.
But, um, again, these are these are the These are the tests, though, that I that I do feel like, really bring a team together, give you confidence and give you momentum Really kind of shape.
You and, um, certainly give you confidence moving forward in the future, you know, because you know, we're gonna we're gonna have plenty of games that air coming down to the end.
And we know if we could put ourselves in a position of wind, Man, we know how to do that.
Next one's from Rod Walker and doing things like ask you about the album every week.
But what did you gonna steal their catch you later on smiling man.
There's a great catch.
There's a great catch and just felt one on one and put it up and give him an opportunity and obviously jumped up.
Made a great play.
We're all set, Thank you. Drove, I guess.
Say we're also come out.
I was talking about the last couple of plays you've heard from the players you've heard from.
Well, we left to go.
No, that's just a good way to go into the bye week.
Any time you get the W.
That's what you want.
Yeah, all right.
On their bye week.
They will be back here at the Mercedes Benz Superdome on October 25th to take on the Carolina Panthers at noon.
Once again, your Saints defeat the Los Angeles Chargers 30 to 27 in overtime for John O.
Caroline Gonzalez, thanks to all of you for joining us on the New Orleans Saints postgame show presented by Mercedes Vents.
Okay, once again, thanks for joining us for the New Orleans Saints postgame show.
Uh, here on the sports talk with Carrie Remark.
Postgame show here on Facebook.
SportsCastr in YouTube.
Want to get your final score since 1 30 to 27 they will be in a by week.
Next game will be on October 25th.
It will take on the Carolina Panthers.
That's another team that's gonna probably gonna be a fight it out.
Grind it out game.
So I look at it this way, To be honest with you, we got to get this all this negativity that happened in this game tonight we got all gotta trash it and just focus on the positive things that happened in this game.
Because what we could have lost that game.
We could have absolutely lost that football game tonight.
That's just some, uh, fax.
Folks, I'm not here to tell you that just just to scare you or ah, schedule into submission or whatever.
I'm telling you this because what? This team it's gonna go on these roller coaster rides and let me tell you, look, and it ain't gonna get easy, because you're gonna have Carolina.
You're gonna have Chicago in that game that games a 3 25 games.
You're gonna have to go over there and beat them.
That's just that's just the start of this of this schedule.
So Let's go ahead and go a couple more plays and then we'll wrap this up.
We've been on about almost a half hours, so we'll go through the last couple of plays of this game.
So we'll go through some last place and then we'll wrap this up and we'll end it right here.
Okay, let's go over the last play.
Let's go over the scoring.
Um, let's go on the four.
Let's go Over the fourth down play.
This was what happened on this fourth down play that got the Saints to victory.
This was on Justin Herbert at an incomplete past.
Lattimore was on the tackle.
That was Ah, penalty.
So this, um Then they turned into a 1st and 10 at the 40 on a four yard pickup. Jackson.
So Jackson got a four yard pickup, and then Herbert got past the Henry that was incomplete.
So he brought up second and six.
Then it brings up third and six.
And then on the four for six play.
Um, shotgun formation.
Herbert, uh, throws a short Pasto Mike Williams for about five.
Marshawn Lattimore makes the play.
So Marshawn Lattimore, once the one was the main guy that stopped that place.
So once again, this was on fourth and six.
I'm glad to see this happened because Marc Marcus Williams and Marshall Marshall Lattimore should make those plays.
Because what if you're in a 4.
6 situation, you've got to make those plays? Because if you don't make the place, that's what they prolong the drive and then it, um it snowballs from there.
So we have toe once again.
Look, we have to be aware when they throw it when they go, I don't care if it's fourth down and one we have to make that.
We have to make those defensive plays.
And I'm glad that Lattimore stepped up in this game to win to make that play the win this game.
So once again, your final score 27 20.
So that was in tonight's game.
Um, so once again, the saints well have a bye week.
