Excuse me, That feels a lot better.
So, fellas, today we're gonna be taking a look at some numbers.
So because we have to, I would say favorites for defensive Player of the Year because so far, there are two players in the A F C North that have absolutely been balling out.
Those two players happened to be on the Baltimore Ravens and the Cleveland Browns.
I am talking about Marlon Humphrey from the Ravens.
I am also talking about Myles Garrett from the Cleveland Browns.
Both have been absolutely bawling out having great season so far, but they're doing it in different ways and That's what we're gonna be taking a look at.
And the reason is, I mean, usually Marlon Humphrey wouldn't even be considered for defensive player of the year, right? But one thing that happened last year is that Stephon Gilmore winning the award actually kind of opened the door form or quarterbacks and more defensive backs to start winning this award.
I mean, the league is turning into more of a passing league, right? So it kind of makes a little sense that quarterbacks and defensive backs are starting Thio get some consideration.
But before we dive into that, guys, we gotta get with our sponsor.
And actually, before we dive into our sponsor, we're gonna talk about some of these guys that are enrolled into ball so hard. University.

Keep it clean in the house.
Um and yes, I see you, my guy Bringing up Aaron.
I have him listed on my notes.
We're gonna be discussing him a swell.
So why don't we go ahead and bring up my numbers here now? Here we go.
So this is actually, like my notes that I just copied and pasted onto this little free note pad that they have online that I opened up.
Here s Oh, these are my exact You know, this is the exact research that I did Thio in order for this stream.
Yes, because I actually did research for the stream.
Believe it or not, I spent some time toe, actually not.
Just come on here and sound like an absolute dumb ass.
I mean, I probably still do, but at least I'll know what I'm talking about.
And I can't base my opinions on, you know.
Anyway, I don't know what I'm saying.
Okay, so let's get into it, man.
So the question here, we're going to be comparing Marlon Humphrey and Myles Garrett, right? We want to see who has a better chance right now to win defensive player of the year.
And believe me, this is not me.
just saying that these two are absolutely going to win defensive player of the year because there's a lot of defensive players in the league that are absolutely bawling.
But for the sake that this is mostly a Ravens channel, you know, but it's still open to all NFL fans.
So welcome, however, but I do like to compare, You know what's going on within the division.
I think it makes for a fun argument here. Fun case.
So that's the reason that Marlon Humphrey and Myles Garrett are the main topics.
But of course, guys like Aaron Donald are absolutely bawling out as we expect.
There's a lot of other players that are out there balling out, Um, so you know, I'm not taking anything away from them, but that's that's the reason why we're talking about these guys.
So basically, I want to kind of compare what's going on with Marlon Humphrey this season so far as we saw he's had three forced fumbles in these past five games, he's been balling out, he's been having a great season and I kind of wanted to compare what he's doing right now to what Stephon Gilmore did last season.
in order to win defensive player of the Year because he was the last DB most recently that has one defensive player of the year, right? So that's the reason for that.
So right now Marlon Humphrey, 28 total tackles, one tackle for loss, 1.
5 ***, three quarterback hits, one interception, five pass deflections, three forced fumbles and no fumble recoveries.
So the thing about Marlon Humphrey and Stephon Gilmore is they are kind of different types of players, right? Because even as you can see right here, Stephon Gilmore, it doesn't seems like he's coming in on blitzes as much as Marlon Humphrey does.
He's not really going to be in the box.
He's not like that physical tackler.
That's gonna, you know, come and get dirty in the run game.
That's not really Stefan Gilmore's type of game, so he doesn't really type of different thing, then, uh, then Marlon Humphrey.
But so it's a little bit of a different comparison, However.
Marlon Humphrey still has that ability to be like a lock down corner as well, so that's just kind of what makes him so good as a player on the field that not only is the physical and able to punch the ball out and you know playing the running game, but he's also able to just shut down your best receiver and really move all over the field.
The nickel, the slot, the the outside, the other side, the left side, the right side.
It doesn't matter.
He's willing to follow the number one receiver on any team, which is what makes him so good.
And same thing could be said for Stephon Gilmore.
He does the same thing.
He follows the best receiver in the slot on the outside, but anyway, so as you can see Marlon Humphrey already read stats, let's just move to Gilmore Gilmore in 2019.
This was his defensive player of the year, 53 total tackles, no tackles for loss, no sacks, no quarterback hits, six interceptions, 20 pass deflections and no forced fumbles.
So, as you can see here, I mean, Humphrey is pretty much already there when it comes to tackles, which, with what Gilmore had eso I actually took this data right here.
I sound like a big ass football nerd.
Man. What do you want me to Dio.
I took this data right here, and I basically divided it into the five games and what he's on pace for and what he's averaging for and down here is what you're gonna see.
So if Humphrey continues playing at pretty much the same level as he has been in the past five games, this is kind of what his Stacks stats would look like if he obviously thinks they're going to change.
You know, 11 game is gonna be a little bit worse than the last, or one game is gonna be a little bit better.
So obviously, there's no real way Thio actually discern what's going to happen in the future.
But you can still take numbers and just kind of have some fun with them.
So Humphrey right now is on pace for 90 total tackles, which, as you can see, it's almost 40 more tackles than Stefan Gilmore head.
Three tackles for loss already, three more than Gilmore head five sacks, five more than Gilmore Head.
10 quarterback hits again, 10 more than Gilmore head three interceptions, which is half of what Gilmore head in his uh 2019 season.
But Maybe Humphrey gets better and starts picking well, not get better, but you know what I mean.
But maybe Humphrey starts picking the ball off a little bit more.
You know how Humphrey is.
He's not really that ball hawk like a Marcus Peters.
This he's just more of that.
Punch the ball out and he'll get picks on you, though, if if he if he has an opportunity, he will totally come up with the pick.
Three interceptions compared to 6 16 pass deflections compared to 2010 forced fumbles and compared to zero forced fumbles.
So you know the numbers aren't too off.
You could give Humphrey some more points for, you know, playing more in the box.
More ***, more quarterback hits, that type of stuff.
But he doesn't have the picks in this scenario, but again, that could change.
This is just what he's on pace for.
So interesting, you know, it's it's It's interesting that his numbers wouldn't be too off from what Stephon Gilmore had in his defensive player of the year in 2019.
Eso I also wanted to talk about some advanced tests that I have on Marlon Humphrey here, he has been targeted 34 times, and he's allowed 22 completions for 198 yards so far this season.
That's pretty good stats.
I mean, that's really good.
Stats actually think the thing about Humphrey is that he will allow receptions.
He'll allow completions like underneath like that will happen.
But he's gonna come in and try to punch the ball out, and most of the time, you know he's successful with that.
So he's very physical.
He's gonna take you down immediately, Um, but this year, at least, he hasn't really gotten beat by the deep ball at all.
You know, that was something that was a concern from him early on in his career.
But anyway, so what? These numbers here, he would be on pace for 109 targets, 70 completions for six 134 yards.
Now let's compare that to what Gilmore did last season.
In 2019 Gilmore was targeted 101 times allowed 51 completions for 599 yards.
So actually, in a way, you know, I mean, yes, Humphrey in this scenario would allow more completions than Stephon Gilmore did.
But he's not allowing much more yardage here on Li like 35 more yards.
So that's an interesting type of number there.
It's basically saying that, um, he would be allowing, you know, like a lot more underneath stuff like, kind of like I said so that I just found that an interesting, interesting little tidbit there, uh, shout out to bra moment.
He says Queen is on pace for well over 100 tackles as well.
Oh, yeah, I think Patrick Queen is winning defensive rookie of the Year, Man.
I don't know if it's just me being biased, but I truly do think so. He's been playing awesome.
He really has really Only that Chief's game was like was bad for him.
But it was, to be fair.
It was a bad game for everybody.
So you can't even you gotta kinda throw that out there.
But yes, so that's, uh, that's pretty much my case for Marlon Humphrey and defensive player of the year.
Obviously, as a Ravens fan, I'm gonna have some bias because he's an awesome player.
He's definitely our best defensive player, I would say, and he probably has the best chance out of anybody on the team to win defensive player of the year.
So that's my case for him.
Numbers are pretty, you know.
They're they're interesting, especially when compared us to fund Gilmore there.
So let's move on to Myles Garrett.
Uh, Myles Garrett, obviously.
Hold on. Let me take a sip of water here.
By the way, guys, thank you all so much for being here, man, I appreciate you guys don't forget to smash that like button.
Give that like button to smash for the power of the stash.
Thank you all for being in here.
Don't be afraid to subscribe as well.
MAWR NFL content is coming up, So let's talk about what Miles scared is doing right now.
This guy, he's a baller.
He's extremely disruptive.
Not only you know as a pass rusher, but also in the run game.
This guy, he just destroys game plans, and he has been having a great season.
So this season he has had 15 total tackles, three tackles for loss, six sacks, 10 quarterback hits, no interceptions, no pass deflections, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
Pretty impressive, you know? I mean, he's matched with Marlon Humphrey for forced fumbles.
They both have three.
I believe that's actually tied at the top of the league with with some guy on the Falcons.
If I'm not mistaken, I'm forgetting his name.
It's like Ola Kudo or something.
I usually know the names, but it's just a hard name to remember.
But so, taking these numbers here, he would be on pace for 48 tackles, 10 tackles for loss, 19 sacks, 32 quarterback hits, no interceptions, no pass deflections, 10 forced fumbles and six fumble recoveries.
Definitely impressive numbers now.
I wanted to compare him to kind of a similar type of player, but I mean Khalil Mack.
He's not exactly the same type of player that Myles Garrett is.
Myles Garrett definitely has his hand in the dirt a lot more than Khalil Mack does.
Um, but, you know, this is kind of the last time, because the past two seasons had been Aaron Donald twice in a row.
And you don't want to necessarily compare Aaron Donald's Myles Garrett because even though technically Aaron Donald can be considered a defensive end, their games are just totally not the same.
You know, Myles Garrett is more of an edge rusher, and Aaron Dollar really gets you on the inside there, so I'm not really wanting to compare them.
I would much more rather want to compare a Khalil Mack to Myles Garrett.
I also considered comparing J.
Watt to Myles Garrett.
That could probably also be an apt comparison, but anyway so, but I did Khalil Mack anyway, because it's the most recent one.
So column, back in 2016 when he won defensive player of the year, had 73 tackles, 14 tackles for loss, 11 ***, 26 quarterback hits, one pick, 63 pass deflections, five forced fumbles and three fumble recoveries.
So in certain ways, you know, if Garrett continues to play at the level that he has, and he continues to be on that same pace, he would actually be a little bit better in some categories than Khalil.
One thing Khalil Mack has had him beat out in his tackles, uh, the and tackles for loss here.
However, Garrett would have more ***.
He would have eight more *** than Khalil Mack.
He would have six more quarterback hits and obviously no interceptions because, like we said, Khalil Mack is more.
You know he's more your typical 34 outside linebacker, I would say, Well, Garrett is probably more your typical defensive end that rushes the passer, UH, three more pass deflections, five more forced fumbles for Garrett and three more fumble recoveries.
So comparable good season if Garrett continues playing at the level that he has.
However, the thing that kind of concerns me four miles Garrett's case is that he's not leading the league in sacks right now.
It's actually Aaron Donald, it's Aaron Donald, and he's kind of having a quietly phenomenal season, as he always does.
I mean, he's always he's leading the league in *** right now with 7.5.
So now, granted, you could make the argument that, well, Myles Garrett has to go up against tackles and Aaron Donald more so does his work on the inside against centers and guards, right? You could make that argument on, you know, teams usually tend to put more resource is into the tackle position, you know, then the guard position in center position.
Usually that's usually the case so you could make that case.
And Myles Garrett does kind of do a little bit more.
Well, I don't know it.
Za Debatable topic, right? It's a debatable topic, I think so.
The thing with Myles Garrett, I feel like, Yes, he's having a phenomenal season.
But usually if you're gonna win defensive player of the year, it's gonna be kind of like on a sack basis.
At least that's what I've seen.
Watt when he led the league in sacks, there was that one year Khalil Mack did win.
But, I mean, look at what else he did.
And you know Aaron Donald as well led the league in ***.
So there's those types of situations, man.
So that's that's kind of why you could push back a little bit on Myles Garrett Miles Garrett's case.
But no doubt, man, no doubt that he is phenomenal.
What do you guys saying here? Yeah, I'm a Ravens fan, but ****, Myles Garrett might get and get this for real.
For real. Okay, good stuff.
Got to get back to work.
Thank you for watching.
Appreciate that we got the best secondary by far.
If everyone plays 100% sound football, I agree.
Darrell West shout out to you, man.
He says Garrett won't get because of the on field incident with Mason.
I mean, I don't know if that should have an effect on this season.
Maybe voters will, you know, look at that and say, Oh, I don't wanna vote for him because of the incident But I think that's kind of thumb, to be honest, if they do take that into account, Um, but you know what I mean? We'll see.
You know, Gary could absolutely blow up and just have one game with, like, four sacks.
And then it takes the boost, his number up to just a phenomenal, you know, 20 plus sacks.
That's very, very good possibility.
But he's gonna be, you know, in a little bit of a battle with Aaron Donald, in my opinion, usually the voters and that's type of stuff.
They look at Saks.
That's really what they take into account, Um, and it just depends which way they want to go, because maybe they could go with the B d be like Marlon Humphrey.
Maybe they do have them in consideration.
It's, you know, it's again.
It's still a young season.
There's a lot of numbers to get through.
There's a lot of games to be played.
Ah, lot more data to be collected.
I think I have more here.
So, actually, as you can see, Donald right now is on pace for 24 ***.
I think I mentioned that, and Garrett is on pace for 19 so you just you never know.
We got to see what happens with that situation.
So some advanced stats for Garrett.
He has seven quarterback hurries and 15 quarterback pressures.
Now that would put him on pace for 22 hurries and 48 pressures.
So let's let's compare that to Aaron Donald's 2018 season.
And the reason that I had to put Aaron Donald is because they didn't have any, uh, any statistics from years prior.
They had only till 2018 on this.
Thank that I was that I was using.
So I decided to go with Donald, and I mean, he had 30 hurries and 70 pressures, bro.
This was on his defensive player of the year in 18 2070 pressures.
And that just tells you like Garrett is having a lot of quarterback pressures right now.
15 and that puts him on pace for about 48.
But even if he gets, that is gonna be well shy of what Aaron Donald in 2018.
And obviously it's a different season.
Things change and also again make the argument that Donald goes up against, you know, guards and centers and not tackles like Myles Garrett.
That's fine, but it's interesting.
It's just interesting to look at these types of numbers, you know, So But, yeah, it's kind of shocking numbers here.
It's it's interesting.
So you guys let me know, Man, you guys let me know which which case do you like better? Obviously, as a Ravens biased Ravens fan is, everybody calls me.
I'm gonna you know, I'm gonna be leaning towards Marlon Humphrey.
But I think Myles Garrett definitely has a case, but it seems like for that situation, I don't know for me, you would be in a fight with, uh in a battle in a close battle with Aaron Donald and whether or not you could get the sack numbers up.
That's just how I'm taking it.
You guys let me know what you think about this whole debate.
So I hope you guys appreciated the numbers that I looked up there.
So thank you goes guys so much we have.
The dude should be illegal talking about Aaron Donald's.
Yeah, he's one of the strongest players ever.
I agree these guys will have hiccups in some games, so those projections for this year will change.
Oh, yeah, I totally agree.
Like I said, it's not going to be exact numbers, but it's just interesting to just kind of take the data that we have so far.
What could could potentially happen? The only way they get defensive player of the years of Aaron Donald gets hit by a car.
Fair enough man again.
Because Aaron Donald, obviously, like I said, having a phenomenal season, not taking anything away from him, So he definitely has to be in the conversation.
Um, but, you know, as a Ravens fan, like I said, I want to represent for my team.
And I figured, you know, since we also have probably a defensive player of the year favorite in the division as well.
Talk about them a little bit.
It's anyway eso yeah, thank you guys for hitting that, like button smash that like button.
There was something else I wanted to bring up.
I wanted to talk a little bit about yesterday's game, and then I'll probably go ahead and let you guys go get out of here.
Um, I felt like in my post game review, I might have been a little too harsh on Lamar.
Um, you know, im and again, I'm not trying to say that I'm going back on my statements that because I still think he had a bad game.
But we also got to think about the context around that bad game, right? We got to think about because this is something I heard again.
I don't know if it's true or not, but I heard that he might have lost somebody that he was close to, um, got killed or something.
I'm not entirely sure, but this is something that I heard.
If it's true, you know, obviously it could have an emotional toll on Lamar going into this game on top of that.
He didn't practice on Wednesday or Thursday.
I think he might have been a little more banged up than we might have thought, because, especially since he only ran twice.
They, uh, you know, for three yards.
So I'm thinking that it's possible that maybe he was a little more banged up than we originally thought, and he just kind of went out there and, you know, he had Thio.
He had to do what he had to do.
So there's there's a bunch of factors to contribute to Lamar not having the best game, you know.
I think on Twitter that somebody brought up a good point that maybe maybe in one of these games that, you know, it's kind of getting away from the opponent and you just see the defense is dominating.
They're kind of trying things out with the passing game because we need to be able Thio, see what works and see what does it.
And it just so happens that it's early on in the season.
We're trying things out, so that's you know, if that's the case, then it's It's not too bad of a thing, man but so far, you know, Like I said, it's still we're still not having the best games on offense.
And, uh, but it's still a young season.
Things could get better. So I'm holding out hope here.
Very fitting name to compare Humphrey.
Two miles tells me you don't know football.
Miles is a Hall of Fame player.
You're a moron. Broke.
So there you go.
So all those numbers that I brought up mean nothing.
This guy knows more football than everybody in the world.
In fact, nobody else watches football.
This is the only guy on planet Earth that watches football.
Because everybody else, you know, they they say they watch football, but they're not taking notes.
They're not getting the coaches film.
They're not actual football coach.
Nobody knows what they're talking about unless their name is walking.
Just wanna put that out there for everybody.
So we're clear, you know? So I'm just I'm getting that message out there for you Walking superstar.
Hope you appreciate it.
Thank you for letting us know.
Thank you for shining a light on us folks that know absolutely nothing about football as you do.
Thank you so much.
The football God walking superstar, anyway.
So I forgot what I was saying, man.
Yeah, so again, credit to Lamar.
Man, I know again, he's still only 23 years old, so the you know, he's fine having some bad games, man, there's still a lot of development to grow through.
The problem is that he had our expectations held so high from last season that I think we came into the season and just expected ourselves to come out there and just dominate as we did.
You know, when we went on a 12 game winning streak, so and our expectations were high, we wanted a Super Bowl.
We thought this was a Super Bowl team, so But, you know, we just were still growing as a team.
We're still figuring things out.
So I'm staying positive with this team men, and we're four and one.
We gotta be thankful about that.
You know, it's a it's a tough division, so we got to continue to pile on winds as much as we can.
No, what? Straight up, Yeah, so let's see I think, uh, was there anything else I really wanted to talk about? That was pretty much hit, Man.
You guys let me know.
Any questions? Any comments, Please feel free.
Uh, I kind of wanted to keep this one short to about 30 minutes.
They were about to hit the 30 minute mark.
