On today's Padan, My take.
We're going to react to our eight and three Cleveland Browns.
You heard me, right? Eight and three.
We're going to review that.
Brown's versus Jaguars matchup from Sunday.

Best way to go about that is visit dugout mugs dot com slash big play.
So without further ado, let's do it.
Yeah, okay, welcome on in to pedo my take Holy Mother of Wednesday Afternoon Football.
What in the hell did we just watch folks? I'll say this much.
I definitely see why the NFL wanted Thio.
Why NBC wanted to keep the tree light.
The I think the tree lighting probably is going to be a little bit more enticing is that kicks off pretty soon than any any game that we witnessed today.
Today, it looked like two teams that didn't practice.
But let's talk about the real winners of Monday afternoon or Wednesday afternoon football that we just watched in.
That's the Cleveland Browns, who are already eight and three.
They didn't need a win win on Wednesday, but they got one anyways.
Steelers first place 11 to know we're aware of that.
Their schedule up ahead, though, even though they play the Washington football team, they play the Cincinnati Bengals.
They got to travel to Buffalo to play the Bills, and now it is feared that defensive end slash linebacker.
But Dupri is dealing with what is believed to be a tornado a C l so they could be without.
But Dupri leaving just, uh, TJ Watt on the defensive end.
And then you have the Ravens, who looked like they were a surefire lock to make the wild card with the Pittsburgh Steelers.
You know, still undefeated at 11.
And, oh, but then the Browns just stay the course.
Man there, 83 returned to practice today with Myles Garrett back in uniform, um, cleared off the co vid list.
Obviously, Ronnie Harrison is down to the I R.
He could be back at the end of this season.
That's a big blow for the Browns, But, man, you have to feel pretty about where they're sitting and you never want in Cleveland.
I know this and I hear this.
You don't want to pull for the Pittsburgh Steelers, and I don't wanna pull for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
But they did what they needed to today, and they knocked them Ravens down one slot further, and it's pretty good.
How how 2020 is that, though, that a game happens in the middle of the day because of some tree lighting ceremony.
But then of the day it ends out helping the Cleveland Browns.
Who again, how 2020 that they are eight and three.
We'll talk some more NFL in a second.
Well, talks, Um, you know, maybe playoff bubble as we progress here.
But the real news is that the Browns air eight and three, and my question to you today on Twitter at Pedo might take Tweet me at Nick.
Put on 12 is this and I was thinking this on Sunday immediately after the game, and I knew I wanted to talk with you all about it today, and that is, does 83 feel exactly how you thought it would feel because together not too long ago, we sat through brown seasons where it was like, you know, oh, in 16 1 in 15 e.
I don't need to remind you of all that, and I look forward.
Today's where we would be competitive in football games where Cleveland would There would be a buzz about this town because our favorite football team that we have just watched suffer so painfully was about toe.
They were finally about to get over the hump and make the playoffs, and they looked promising.
But for me, as I was watching the game versus Jacksonville on Sunday, something just felt empty.
And maybe it's because they were on the road.
Maybe it's because they played, you know, 25% of their games in the snow.
Hail, wind, rain.
It's like they were playing the last few games on Neptune.
Maybe it's because Baker hasn't looked as sharp as we hoped ours, as some people have expected, and we'll talk about Baker in a second.
But to me eight and three just feels different.
It doesn't feel like like how I thought it would, especially now you're 83 and you look at the rest of this schedule.
You play the Jets, you play the giant.
You play the Steelers in week 17 who could be resting.
You know, the their starters.
So though there's three winnable is right there.
We just saw the Ravens.
They don't look that impressive.
Lamar will be off the covert list by then, but still, he's had an off year.
It's something about it all to me.
Just feels incomplete, I guess you could say, um and And then let's take that to the conversation of Baker, Mayfield and being the franchise quarterback because I had this conversation with a few people in.
Is this what you thought eight and three would feel like? And people half and half.
Some people are like, Well, they're eight and three. They're winning.
What more could you expect? Kevin still fancies first year Baker's first.
You're in a new system, and that's the side that I want to lean towards.
But then you lean towards the side of Baker.
Mayfield is looking like anything but a M V P candidate there so much when you watch Baker play and I'm not trying to pile on Baker in this segment at all because At the end of the day, I am in the company off Baker.
Mayfield is the starting quarterback, oven eight and three football team, And whether you don't like it or not, there's a pretty darn good chance if the Browns beat the Titans on Sunday.
The Browns have, like a 93% chance of making the playoffs, and I think that they could be at that point right now.
With the Ravens lost today, Baker Mayfield is gonna play in a playoff this year, which, which means that he's going to be given next season, the full season at minimum.
Before we start talking about extending this guy, he's earned that.
His play has backed that up.
But then you look at him just leaving a little bit left to be desired.
And it's like Baker, give it and Baker take it away.
When I speak of this Jacksonville Jaguars game, he'll he'll give you an amazing, beautiful play action bootleg, you know, or even he'll give a great play action and then step up to the in the pocket and rip one down the middle of the field to get you writing within the 10 and then that overthrow to Higgins.
It's like man there.
There's just so much left to be desired with this guy.
So maybe that's why it feels disheartening.
And then maybe that all loops around to the point differential to the fact that the Browns need Nick Chubb and Cream Hunt to play like the to best running backs in the NFL on a weekly basis.
If they wanted to win, that's how the Browns have won their eight games minus the game in Cincinnati, where Baker went off for five touchdowns in the second half alone.
And then I start to think.
And maybe this is my just cynical brain working in its own twisted way.
Where I say, well, are the Browns of legit playoff contender.
We we knew the schedule would be easy, and we knew this would be a good year to get things heading in the right direction, a good year to just cleanse ourselves of the mess that was the old Cleveland Browns.
And even if it's not pretty, which it hasn't been to get into the playoffs and and that's what the Browns have done as so far.
But what happens when you get into those playoffs is what makes me nervous.
Say you draw Kansas City or say you draw a Pittsburgh who I know didn't look that impressive today against the Baltimore Ravens JV team.
The does this Brown squad stand a chance if Baker Mayfield plays the way that he does? Sometimes if he's missing throws in the end zone, and we had to settle for three Cody Park, he points.
I think that all part of it is what makes me and what makes so many people pessimistic when you look on Twitter during Brown's games after Brown's games, because there's something left to be desired with the Browns right now.
But that's a good thing that shows that they're winning football games, which they have been unable to do under the last How many regime since 1999.
And there's still room to grow, which I think is the most important thing for for any new team and can we just say and we do this every year when the coach gets hired, But now that we're 89 10, 11, 11 games into the season, can we just say it looks like we have a real head coach and I know he's made some questionable play calls.
You know, my girlfriend Cam and I joked during the last game that, like the you know, the fake punt was like, really the only bad thing that you have to really speak poorly of.
Kevin Stefanski off.
But thus far, man.
He's done what he's needed to do.
The fact that he could win ugly.
And I was thinking during the Jaguars game when the Browns were just getting hosed, call after call.
So you had the Olivier Vernon Phantom rushing roughing the passer, which that just was not true.
And then you have the cream hunt fake.
First down is what I'm gonna call it, where the TV cameras show you that the nose of the football is passed the last chain and even a little bit past the rubber marker.
And Vernon gets called for the roughing. That's 15.
Kareem Hunt evidently didn't get the first down.
That was all mind blowing and mind bending, and I thought on Sunday any other Cleveland Browns team, whether it be with Freddie Kitchens, Hugh Jackson, you know, even teams before man Mike Patton, Butch Davis.
If we want to go back that far with that bad officiating that the Browns have been so accustomed. Thio.
Any old head coach in Cleveland would have just bent over and died and given up.
What's the fancy? Didn't given up.
Give up and the players rallied around that, I think, and they found a way to win a poorly officiated football game.
And you hate to be that guy.
And I know people on Twitter are the same way.
We finally matured with that as a fan base, where we've realized that Hey, taking our frustrations out on officiating crews doesn't right the wrongs.
Like at the end of the day, it goes down as a win.
If you win the football game and it goes down as a loss, if you lose the football game, no matter what happens within that time frame that the game is played.
So we finally matured and we don't take our frustration out on the officials as much.
But it was so refreshing to see Kevin Stefanski overcome that hurdle and then to back that up Ah, little further into the meat of the game.
Baker overthrows Higgins ugly, but then on third down, fourth down Baker was everything that you expected him to be out of a franchise quarterback.
Throw toe Austin Hooper in the end zone.
How about on fourth down when it looked like it was a guaranteed sack escaping the pocket for finding kid Errol Hodge, who was made himself open on the sideline? Just a fantastic job overall? And that's what I need to see out of Baker Mayfield on a much more consistent basis.
And I think we will.
I think we're getting there.
I think a year in this Kevin's too fancy system.
Alex Van Pelt, with the new footwork, has done Baker Mayfield well, and I think next year it will continue to be built upon, and that's gonna be the take that I'm going to stick with.
And we will get into some of Cleveland vs Tennessee in just a moment.
But I want to stick on to this topic off Baker because it's such a polarizing topic.
He he definitely is, You know, the most polarizing figure that we have in Cleveland at the moment.
LeBron isn't here and he's not coming back and we're gonna talk about that towards the end of the show.
the contract extension that he just signed today.
Um, um, you know, you know who else is there, Frankie, Linda, or for sure.
But the tribe was disappointed again this year, and people don't want to talk about him or his situation at all.
Baker Mayfield is the guy in Cleveland.
He's 20 and 20 as a starter, and after Sunday, myself and many others were just down on him because even though he won, it was another ugly win that the Browns needed to be over reliance on their run game.
And had he just completed that touchdown to Higgins, they probably win the game with a little bit more comfort, you know, and had made some throws differently.
I think of the cream hunt medicine ball that could have been a touchdown had it been placed better.
The cream hunt on the far sideline when he would try to make another sweet one hand grab.
I was down on Baker on Sunday night is what I'm trying to say.
And then I turned on Monday Night Football and watch Seahawks vs Eagles, and I see the conversations on Twitter, and it's like is Baker, the franchise quarterback can you pay Baker Mayfield what you need to pay them.
Thio be the guy that takes you to the playoffs to the A F C Championship game to a Super Bowl for franchise that hasn't won one yet.
And you know, I see people having scary, dark conversations on what should be an 83 victory Monday about their quarterback.
I'm hearing Mac Jones talk I'm talking about.
I'm hearing talk about the quarterback from BYU.
Zach Wilson, I think, is his name.
I don't even want to know it because I don't want to go there.
So I flick on the Monday night game and Carson Wentz looks like a nightmare.
And that's a guy that they gave a franchise quarterback contract.
And they are tied to Carson wants for quite some time in Philly, whether you like it or not.
And even though Jalen Hurts is there, I don't know what you do with the problem that remains, Carson went, and then I think back to the situation that we have here in Cleveland and who has played better this season.
Baker, Mayfield or Carson.
Once I feel like you would have to be out of your mind crazy to say that Carson once has played better this season than Baker Mayfield.
And I think that could be said for several NFL quarterbacks this season that Baker hasn't done that poorly.
He's one third down.
What was our complaint about Baker Mayfield coming into this season? What was our one critique? And one thing that we needed to see an improvement on it was the turnovers.
It was the interceptions it was.
Fans wanted the Cleveland Browns to do what Kevin Stefanski is doing, and now there is whining in the streets of Cleveland because Baker Mayfield isn't airing it out for 300 yards a game, and I hear that I understand some of it.
But on the same time, him and DeShaun Watson have the longest streak, you know, with so many passes thrown without without an interception.
And that's huge.
That's huge for a young quarterbacks growth.
And as I'm watching Carson once play and get sacked and gets sacked and that offensive line is horrible, don't get me wrong.
But Carson Wentz is advertised it as an athletic guy, and I'm led to believe myself.
I do believe that Carson once has some mobility that he can escape that pocket and run and escape that pocket and make throws happen.
But what I saw on Monday out of Carson Wentz, I looked back up my eight and three browns and say, I'm cool with the dude that I got in Cleveland on and that's me being 100% serious.
You know, they're 83.
He has had very bad moments, and he has had very good moments.
He's 20 and 20 as a starter in a Cleveland Browns uniforms, and, quite frankly, the record doesn't lie.
Ah, horrid sop****re season and a doctor.
Jekyll and Hyde, third season 20 and 20 throughout his 40 games as the Browns starting quarterback.
A consecutive 40 might I add, which is very important in the school of how Nick Payton evaluates quarterbacks? Um, it just conversation for a different day.
Availability is the best ability, and Baker Mayfield has been available for this football team.
And at 20 and 20 with four head coaches, I'm going to plant my flag here.
On what day is it? Wednesday, December 2nd, saying that Baker Mayfield is still my guy.
The Browns are eight and three because Baker Mayfield is their starting quarterback.
Would the Browns B eight and three with Sam Donald no.
Would the Browns B 83 with Josh Rosen know Lamar Jackson? With what I've seen from him this season, I I'm going to go ahead and say no.
He's been debunked and the Browns are relying on the run game so much, I feel like we would be trying to force Lamar to run too much.
The Baker Mayfield is the quarterback oven eight and three team, and he has been exactly what the team needs him to be, and that's managing the game well.
And like we talked about a couple of weeks ago, those air the baby steps that day build you up a franchise quarterback.
We were all sucked in myself, included by the polarizing rookie record setting season that Baker Mayfield head in 2018.
And we were so badly wanted to capture that lightning in a bottle and savor it and forced Baker Mayfield into a situation where he was expected to be the odds on favorite to win M v p.
And that's just that just wasn't reality and isn't reality for this franchise as it stands right now, but I think Baker Mayfield could win Super Bowl M V P.
I think Baker Mayfield could be the M V p of the league one day.
Why not? The Cat is only 25 years old, his third year with his fourth head coach.
And now that we're finally on the fourth head coach, looks like we finally got the right one.
Looks like this Gary Kubiak offense that's play action.
Reliant with good, big tight ends is gonna be the way to go.
And I'm satisfied despite being dissatisfied on Sunday.
I am satisfied with where the Browns air at with Baker Mayfield right now, and I think if he continues to build upon thes good couple of performances that he has had, the Browns are gonna be in a very good and a very scary spot for the rest of the teams around the league.
So as we move forward, let's talk a little bit Browns versus Tennessee quickly before we get into this break and the question that I want to propose again before the break.
Of course on Twitter episode on my take on my personal twitter at Nick Payton 12 as well.
Are the Browns offer relate and three team? Is this how you thought eight and three would feel? Let's get into that next question off.
How in the hell is this team going to stop Derrick Henry on Sunday? That's my biggest concern as we head into Sunday's game, and I'm always honest with you guys.
You guys know that when we do the pick segment at the end of this game, I'm not sure which direction I'm going toe lean solely because even though the Browns have Nick Chubb, the Browns have cream hunt.
The Browns have Baker Mayfield, who I just gave a lot of praise. Thio.
The Titans have Derrick Henry and the Browns defense has Myles Garrett and a bunch of dudes is Ronnie Harris unhealthy? Is Denzel Ward healthy? Greedy Williams and anybody remember that guy? Is he healthy? That's what concerns me about this matchup on Sunday, because Derrick Henry is one of them players that we've no, we've seen, is capable of just busting off a 2025 yard backbreaker on Bird and long.
That just demoralizes a defense.
And I thought on Sunday versus Jacksonville.
Anderson Dejo played one of his best games as a Cleveland.
Brown obviously had the interception that wasn't in the back of the end zone, which was in a very huge spot.
But I'm excited to see what the Browns defense could do.
Because even though they've been bad, I guess you could call them the weak spot of the team.
If you had to find a weak spot on a eight and three football team, I guess you could point to the defense that's been banged up with Myles Garrett. I'm a covert list.
Denzel Ward now out with the calf, Ronnie Harrison finally gets in the groove.
And then he's put on the I R banged up group and we knew that, especially going into the year with no greedy, no Grant Delp it.
But now I look at this defense and say, Well, maybe they're a little bit better than what we thought, because they've been able to stop some teams.
Despite that random number 19 receiver that I had never heard of on Jacksonville before, I thought the Browns did a fairly okay job of keeping James Robinson and check, even though his stats were good.
The Browns are the definition of Ben.
Don't break, and that used to be a knock on defense.
Is when When people used to say, Oh, there, Ben, don't break.
You know they're going to give three.
But at least it's not seven hahahaha now in the NFL, it's a good thing if you're Bend, don't break.
It's a good thing if you could find timely stops and play the field position game and get your offense the football back.
And that's what the Browns need to do on Sunday.
If I'm Kevin Stefanski and the offense is, just keep the football away from A.
Brown, Ryan Tannehill and Derrick Henry.
The longer that the Browns offense is on the field, the better.
And if that means that you have to run the wheels off of Nick Chubb and Kareem Hunt, so be it.
We know that when Myles Garrett is on the field and healthy, he is capable of a big play.
Same with Nick Chubb.
Those two guys are going to be who they are, but on the same hand that this game right here to really propel you against another playoff contender in the A F.
C into a wild card spot.
This is why you drafted Baker Mayfield number one overall.
This is why you drafted Myles Garrett number one overall.
This is why you drafted Nick Chubb, number 35 overall.
You need your top draft picks to perform like top draft picks on Sunday in a big game where it matters.
I know it was fun, and I had fun watching Baker marched down the field and Nick Chubb march down the field against Cincy.
They did it against Jacksonville.
They did it even a little bit against the Washington football team with, You know, Baker on Cork's Um no BJ that that's a lot of fun to see this team do that.
Don't get me wrong, but Baker needs to now take that next step.
We're good with him, beating the bad teams.
That's something that the Browns have not been able to dio is when the games that they were favored in and now they're doing that, we beat Jacksonville.
We beat since he toys.
We beat the football team.
We beat Dallas, we beat some good teams, but we could beat Tennessee.
Come on and we're going to keep talking about this as the show goes on.
But the point that I'm trying to make right now to all of you.
Baker, Mayfield, Myles Garrett Those guys need to play like number one overall draft selections.
Derrick Henry is good.
Ryan Tannehill has had a career resurgence on that defense.
It is going to be Myles Garrett and a bunch of guys we know that D line is still good.
We know Larry could stop the run a little bit.
Sheldon Richardson has had a couple of good consecutive games strung together.
Olivier Vernon as well in the absence of Miles, has played well.
If those four could play good, good.
But other than that, I don't know what this defense is.
So I need Myles Garrett to play good on the back end, and I need from my quarterback to see elite level quarterback play toe, outscore these Tennessee Titans and propel this Cleveland Browns football team to a wild card playoff berth.
If you beat the Tennessee Titans on Sunday, the narrative is rewritten about Baker Mayfield in the Cleveland Browns because it's currently that they could Onley beat bad teams.
They're beating up on the bottle of the barrel.
What have they proven yet? Let's see it.
Browns beat Tennessee on Sunday, beat the team that walked into your house week one off last season and punched in the mouth.
Hit them with the reverse, just like Jake Paul did to Nate Robinson on.
All right, we're going to take a quick 62nd breather, but when we come back breaking N b A news all day today, so much to get through.
Week 13 of the NFL n ba so much more.
Don't go anywhere you're listening to put on my take on big play dot com.
Welcome back in.
Put on my take big play dot com.
I'm your host, Nick Padoan.
You could follow me on Twitter at Nick Payton. 12.
As always, you could tweet the show at pedo.
Might take question.
We're asking you tonight on this Wednesday evening Are the Browns legit playoff contender and does 18 3 feel the way that you envisioned in eight and three football team to feel? Those are the questions that were posing on Twitter tonight.
So go make sure to answer those breaking news, though.
In the world of the MBA right as this show went on air today as there's been a trade and Houston has agreed to trade Russell Westbrook to Washington for John Wall in a first round pick.
Interesting that this happens right now.
We heard that Russell Westbrook was having a conversation to come to Cleveland.
I'm not sure how Russell Westbrook and DeMarcus cousins fit together in Houston.
If you guys have watched the show before, you know I am not a fan off the Houston Rockets.
I don't buy what they celled me with.
James Harden and Russell Westbrook. Mike D'Antoni.
I think his best coaching days are behind him, but definitely some interesting news, especially with the N B A season.
You know, just among us here in 20 days.
Big trade, big trade that happen right now on Russell Westbrook is a Washington wizard.
We'll see if Russell Westbrook works better with you know Bradley Beal than John Wall did John Wall, a guy that was plagued by injuries with Wizards? We're also sending a first round pick to Houston in that trade.
I don't know what that does for the landscape of the N B A, though to be completely honest.
Um, does it shake things up in the East a little bit for sure, Because the Wizards like the Cavs, you know, like some of the other teams the Pistons were hanging out near the bottom.
I guess that kind of makes the Wizards a little bit more movers and shakers.
They could be better.
That's gonna be one of the most talked about backcourts in the MBA with Westbrook and Beale, you know, partner together.
But it's 2020 days away.
And in a weird off season, which which was barely an off season for any teams that played in the playoffs shortest offseason, really in sport history, Um, you know, it's the Wizards.
I don't know how much that's gonna equate toe wins.
Do I think the Wizards will make the playoffs as a result of this is a question that comes through on Twitter at Nick Payton, 12 that people might take.
I think the Wizards could definitely crack eight seed, especially in this now expanded kind of 10 10 team play in tournament.
Each conference is doing this season.
I think Washington could be in the mix as long as Westbrook and Bradley Beal are healthy at the same time, definitely changes things in the East more than it does in the West because the Rockets, especially with a disgruntled James Harden and maybe this could rejuvenate him.
Maybe playing with John Wall could be a good thing for him, but I don't know, man.
That's definitely an interesting trade and other MBA news today, and this is the one that I really, really wanted to get.
Thio as we come back from this break today.
And that's LeBron James signing a two year, $85 million extension to stay in Los Angeles with the Lakers, making him a free agent in 2023 when his son, LeBron James Jr.
Will be graduating high school and quite possibly eligible for the MBA draft.
So when I read that news, I was quite honestly, again deflated.
It was hope, yet false hope that LeBron was ever going to come back here, especially after how involved we have seen LeBron come with politics.
With the election process with voting, it was crazy to see a world where LeBron suc***bs to Dan Gilbert again.
I don't think he misses Dan Gilbert and that he's dying to come back to Cleveland, especially because out in Los Angeles they've made it pretty apparent that they're willing to do what it takes to support LeBron with a substantial, you know, supporting cast trading for Anthony Davis, signing, having a very impressive offseason.
Bringing Marc Gasol in there as a depth piece was a really underrated move that I think could put the league on notices.
Gasol off the bench.
Just deflating, though, man, because And now it feels like you're you know, we we talk about the Browns playoff percentage chances.
And Jake Trotter, who we had on the Monday show big play re flog, was taught.
I was besting with him a little bit because he tweets out.
You know, the Browns playoff chances every day on Monday or every week on Monday.
We rather it feels like the FBI percentage of LeBron coming back to Cleveland is now very small, and I don't know why that is because it's just a two year extension.
Still could be a free agent in 2023.
He'll be around 40 then, so who knows how good he will be at bad point in his career but he's happy in L.
And that's cool. I'm a big LeBron fan.
I think if LeBron came back today, the Cavs would be in the discussion right atop the East again.
It doesn't matter that Collin ***ton, Darius Garland, Kevin Porter, Larry Nance are all young players.
I think LeBron is good enough toe to get it done.
Um, the big thing with this is obviously the free agency in 2023.
And the foregone conclusion is, well, he did this for sure because he wants to play with his son.
He wants to play with LeBron James Jr.
You know it in 2023 If that's possible.
Well, that's the thing.
That's where I'm gonna hold.
The phone on this conversation is we're not sure that that's entirely possible.
The collective bargaining agreement that n b p a, n b, a p, a National Basketball Association Players Association is what I think it's called would have toe work out an agreement in order to scratch the one and done so really, as it stands right now, LeBron becoming a free agent in 2023 has nothing to do with Bron e because at the end of the day.
Bronte can't come out until 2024.
He's gonna have to play Ah, year at in college or a year overseas or a year training for the draft, just like you know.
Ah, lot of other players have to dio in his situation, so I'm curious to see how that shakes out.
And even if it does shake out in his way, for example, let's say they come to that agreement in another year or 21 and done no longer a thing.
You could now come straight out of high school if teams feel ready to draft you.
Now, let's say whatever Team draft Bryony James.
Let's say the Memphis Grizzlies select Bron LeBron James Jr from whatever college or overseas that he's going to go Thio.
Is LeBron really gonna leave the City of Angels to go play basketball in Memphis like same thing.
What of Portland drafts? Brownie? What if Denver is beautiful and I hate to say this What if the Denver Nuggets draft Bronte? What if I had a list of other crazy you know, the Orlando Magic? The Minnesota Timberwolves? What if they draft Bronte like is LeBron really itching and craving to go play for the Timberwolves.
Like I know he's not this year, but it is three years gonna make that much of a difference with some of these small market cities that might be a front runner.
LeBron James Jr In three or four years, I'm not sure, Um, he would want to do that.
But as I think more and more about it, I think of it like this.
LeBron is currently in 20 days, which is astonishing.
LeBron will be entering his 18th n BA season and a fantastic career if he hung it up today.
Oh, is it greatest, if not second greatest basketball player of all time 18th season? So by then he's gonna be into the 21 22 23rd season in the league.
I don't think playing one year in Portland or one year, that might be a crappy rebuild team that is gonna have to be probably a lottery team to draft his son.
I don't think that matters toe LeBron.
I think it will feel gross.
It'll feel icky.
It will feel a lot like Jordan on the Wizards at the end but I don't think it's that huge of a deal for LeBron.
I think if if, say, you know the Portland Trail Blazers draft Bronte, whether it be first, whether it be fifth or sixth or seventh and LeBron hasn't made his free agency decision, I think he would have no problem going to a random organization at the end of his career where he really couldn't fit.
Just toe have that Griffey Jr and Griffey and Griffey Jr type thing. Go on.
It would be cool as hell to see man as well.
It would be great for the sport, you know, you see today the MBA drops.
They're like Christmas Day schedule, and they're like still trying to force the pelicans down our throats, even though they just got rid of Drew Holiday.
They you could argue, overpaid for Brandon Ingram.
And who knows what Zion is gonna be in your to the n.
Is still trying to shove us the New Orleans Pelicans as an idea.
It would be cool to see some televised games of LeBron James Jr as a rookie with LeBron James singer out there with him in some random, goofy be preferably small market team.
I think that would be super cool toe watch.
I think the least favorable thing that could happen is if, like, ah, team that LeBron has, like, say, Brownie just isn't that impressive in his one year in college or he isn't thought of that highly out of high school.
It would be disappointing if, like the Lakers get him, you know, with pick number 29 like the Lakers select LeBron James Jr.
That would be a little disheartening, and that's interesting to to take that conversation a little bit further.
I'm curious to see how teams will attack that situation in pursuing LeBron James Jr and knowing that there's a possibility and we'll have a better idea a couple years down the road if LeBron will in fact follow his son throughout his, you know, beginning of his nb ager.
So that's all I wanted to talk about with that, because breaking MBA news all day definitely felt obligated to get to that.
But without further of do, it is time for my favorite segment of the week, a segment that we get plenty of great feedback on as well.
It is time for the NFL whip.
Presented by big plate dot com.
Big Play your number one source for live interactive sports talk almost every night of the week.
Just like this show.
Give them a follow on Twitter at Big play.
Com is the best way to check in with what we got going on over a big play.
If you're unfamiliar with this show, the NFL whip is always brought to you by big play dot com, and we are going to whip around the entire National Football League in 15 minutes or less.
Without further ado, we get into it.
Picking the Browns game last.
No Thursday Night Football tomorrow.
Kind of disheartening.
So we start on Sunday for the Atlanta Falcons, and the beautiful Mercedes Dome in Atlanta will host the New Orleans Saints with Taysom Hill at the helm at quarterback.
Give me the Saints on the road here.
I've been impressed with how the Saints have been able to manage the Taysom Hill situation to be completely honest.
As a passer, we know what he is.
He's deficient there, but they've been able to run the ball fairly successful.
So I'm gonna pick the Saints on the road and this one solely because the Taysom Hill experiment has gone okay.
He's not Drew Brees.
They knew he wasn't going to be Drew Brees, even though he's probably Drew Brees, his replacement.
Give me the same time the road in Atlanta.
That that's gonna be an exciting game to see if Taysom could kind of keep this up for a third consecutive week here we had to Soldier Field and Jeezy Petes for the Chicago Bears were gonna host the Detroit Football Lions one.
This is a bad game, too.
I still think Matt Nagy is in OK, NFL coach.
His quarterback situation right now is just atrocious.
I don't know what is going on in Chicago.
Mentor Mitch is bad.
I love you, Nick Foles is even worse.
Nick, I love you.
Um, I gonna pick the lions here.
I'm gonna pick the bears.
I'm gonna pick the bears at home solely because of their defense, solely because they're at home, Matt Patricia is fired, and he has a burner account.
Um, God, and it's painful if you're free.
And if you have five minutes and you're looking for a good laugh because I know I haven't had too many funny screw ups in this show for you to make fun of this week, man.
Just give a quick Google on in the Google search bar.
Matt Patricia burner account.
There there will be a article that links you to a Twitter account named Eddie P.
Lions fan or something like that.
And it is so blatantly Matt Patricia on a fake Twitter account trying Thio have his own back because he got fired.
Detroit's a Dumpster fire.
They could hire John Dorsey, which would be a mess.
Give me the Bears at home.
I guess we head to Miami, where the Dolphins and probably Ryan Fitzpatrick will play host to the Cincinnati Bengals.
Guys, the Bengals were through.
They did bad and they tor up Joe Burrows.
Need that? Didn't need toe happen at all.
And it happened. The worst thing that's possible.
Um, the Bengals need to try to be the third overall pick.
Obviously, they're not gonna want Lawrence.
They're not gonna want fields.
You need to be there.
Three to draft the left tackle draft pen a C while out of organ.
That needs to be your guy.
That you lock in as soon as the season ads and as soon as that draft order is finalized because Joe Burrow needs some help.
I'm going to take the Dolphins at home solely because Cincinnati could be done for the season with that injury to Joe Burrow, even though they looked okay last season, our last week, I'm picking the Dolphins here.
We had to Minnesota, another beautiful stadium that I've traveled to US Bank Stadium, where the Vikings play host to the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Mike Zimmer, Man, I don't know what's up with him, but it's the Jaguars.
They want a quarterback.
Mike Glennon gets another nod at quarterback this week for the Jags, but I'm taking the Vikings.
Kirk Cousins underrated season Despite the losing in Minnesota, Kirk Cousins is OK.
He was overpaid, but he's a good quarterback.
That Kubiak offense is still intact.
Adam feeling will be back for the Vikings this week, so I'm taking the Vikings at home.
We head to MetLife Stadium, where the New York football Jet Jac play host to the Vegas Raiders.
I'm picking the Raiders, Um, even though Sam Donald is back for the Jets and he had a impressive first half.
It's just the turnovers with that guy.
It's the sack and then he throws a pick and you just can't have that at your quarterback position.
Watching Sam Donald play is whenever I watch him, it's like This is exactly why myself and several other people did not want this guy to be the quarterback of the Cleveland Browns.
Give me the Raiders in a bounce back game, beating the Jets at home, we had to Houston, where boy, the player of the performance enhancing drugs.
Air flying off the shelves, the Texans organization as the Texans play host to the Indianapolis Colts.
This is an important one, I guess, for the Browns playoff race.
Even though we do have the head to head against the cult.
I think the Texans air going to play inspired in this game, and I think the culture just flat out beatable.
I've said that before.
Philip Rivers doesn't impress me a all too much.
I'm gonna pick the Texans at home.
I think the Shawn Watson is just playing really inspired football right now and even though he will be without Will Fuller, who's going to be suspended for the rest of this season in the first game of next year.
I think Brandon Cooks has emerged as a reliable enough target in Houston, and they need to get the tight ends going.
You've got to get Adkins going.
You've got to get Darren Fella's going.
If you're just Shawn Watson and continue to run the ball well with Watson's legs like they've done the last few weeks and the Texans will bounce back, I'm gonna pick the Texans and upset at home over the Colts.
We head to Arizona, where the Cardinals Cliff Kingsbury play host to the Los Angeles Rams.
This is going to be probably my game of the week, definitely a game that I have my eyes on.
That's a tough game, man.
I'm gonna pick the Rams on the road solely because they have experience at the quarterback position, even though the Rams run game looks God awful.
Right now, I gotta pick him just because that defense looks good.
They have Aaron Donald and he's pretty good.
Oh, that's it. That's good.
That's gonna be a good game.
But I'm gonna pick the Rams on the road.
Just just have a hunch on. The Rams are legit.
I I look for them toe, be a mover and a shifter or whatever you want to say.
Once the playoffs begin, give me McVeigh.
Give me the Rams On the road.
We headed to Seattle, where the Seahawks play host of the New York football Giants.
Daniel Jones is day today.
Even if he plays, Give me Seattle in this one.
Even though Russell Wilson hasn't looked so what he is capable of, he hasn't played that brand of football.
I think he's very good.
The Seahawks have Russell Wilson.
The Giants have maybe Daniel Jones.
Give me the Seahawks at home against New York.
Way head to Green Bank.
Were the bad Bad man plays host at Lambeau Field to those Philadelphia Eagles and Carson Wentz.
Like I said, guys, that offensive line that they have going in Philly is putrid.
Carson Wentz has been inaccurate.
He can't stay off his back.
Give me the Packers at home.
Aaron Rodgers looks good.
I want to talk about it.
Aaron Rodgers looks like the odds on M V P favorite.
If I had to cast a vote today.
I know the Chiefs are good, but they got Tyreek Hill.
They got quite a Brazil.
Er they Travis Kelsey.
That defense in Kansas City is good.
They've got weapons in Kansas City.
When? When you talk about Most Valuable Player, he's dealing with Alan Lazard.
Who in the world are these guys? Give me Aaron Rodgers is the most valuable player of the league as we head into Week 13 and give me the Packers at home on the Eagles.
Big and I think it's gonna be another big, big day for Aaron Rodgers because he is the bad man in Green Bay and I cannot pick against him in this one.
We head to the brand new sofa I stadium in Los Angeles, California, as the Chargers play host to the New England Patriots.
We've talked about it ad nauseam every week.
Bill Belichick, the Patriots.
They're not what they once were.
I'm picking the Chargers in this one.
Justin Herbert looks okay to ride Taylor, not charging.
You know, not not putting a charging for the punctured lung.
I'm going to just pick the home team here.
I think this will be a good game on CBS as well on Sunday.
But I just think that the Chargers have what it takes to get this one done, and I'm going to go ahead and pick the Chargers at home over those New England Patriots.
And then we have Sunday Night football.
Is the Kansas City Chiefs play host to the Denver Broncos? Come on, man.
I don't know how this game doesn't get flexed out.
If anybody picks the Broncos, you're either a degenerate gambler.
That's really hopeful and trying to make a lot of money or you've never watched football before in your life.
Give me the Chiefs here, give me how many other points their favor.
Tyreek Hill looks so impressive in their win last week.
That was my only real critique on the Chiefs to this point was, Can you know Mahomes and Tyreek Hill find that connection that looked like was missing throughout the first you know, really, 10, 11 games of the season, but it's reignited.
The Chiefs are good.
They're Super Bowl favorites again.
Give me the Chiefs at home in primetime Sunday Night Football over those Denver Broncos way got to Monday nighters this week.
We just played their unbeaten folks.
No, never lost against those Washington football team, I think the Pittsburgh Steelers we're going to play inspired.
They looked bad tonight against the inferior Baltimore Ravens group, with 20 players out due to Cove it due to contact tracing do toe.
Ah, lack of practice.
The Ravens look bad and the Steelers look worse, But yet the Steelers somehow won the game.
I I say they look worse by their high Pittsburgh standards.
Give me the Steelers at home.
It's the football team.
Tomlin's gonna inspire that group throughout the week.
This was a **** show off a weak man.
They had the game postponed three times.
Finally got it out of the way today on Wednesday, short week.
But Monday Night Football at home in Heinz Field, over the football team coming off of ugly performance.
Give me those Steelers at home, Pittsburgh books to improve to 12, and, oh, we head to State Farm Stadium in Glendale, California as the new home of the Arizona Cardinals.
San Francisco 40 Niners play host the Buffalo Bills.
The 40 Niners just aren't what they should be there, decimated of injury there decimated of co vid.
Um, Jimmy G hurt.
I think Mullins is still their quarterback.
Give me the Bills.
Josh Allen is fun to watch.
Still, guys, the Bills were still really good.
I'm taking Buffalo on the road, and this one It is cool, though.
I do want to say I do want to give that plug to San Francisco to that State Farm Stadium.
How cool is it, man, that they're letting the Cardinals that's gonna be their home stadium, too, because of this goofy covert year on our I mean the other way around.
Rather, the 40 Niners were going to be playing in Arizona.
That's pretty cool that Arizona was willing to do that because San Francisco doesn't want their team there right now due to Cove it and the mayor of the county leaders, whatever kicked them out.
So they're on their way to Arizona right now, which will be their home for the rest of this season.
Quite possibly so.
I personally think that's cool, but I'm taking the bills in this one, even though the 40 Niners will be at their new home.
We had to Tuesday night football boy We're doing this again Tuesday Night Football.
Baltimore Ravens get rewarded That super annoying.
I didn't want to get into that.
The Ravens were definitely given a favor by the NFL having that game postponed so many times.
I do believe guys that Lamar Jackson, even though he tested positive.
If things start to trend upward for him this coming week, he could be ready to go for Tuesday's matchup against the Dallas Cowboys.
Regardless, I'm picking the Ravens there, the home team.
They're gonna play motivated as well.
We obviously have to see the severity of that Robert Griffin the third me injury, and it will trace McSorley be the starting quarterback.
And even if he is a man, Dallas looks bad.
I'm going to pick the Ravens at home, even if Trace McSorley is the starting quarterback.
And that certainly feels wild to say.
I hope you guys enjoyed that.
That was the NFL whip, where we whipped around the National Football League and Week 13 in under 15 minutes.
What a fun our thank you all so much for hanging out.
