just back. Almost.
I don't need it over a third of impact, Trump.
All right, ladies and gentlemen, how are we doing on this Wednesday evening? My name is Susan Mexico.
Follow me on Twitter at two.
Domestic Oh, sports.
And today, if you're reading the caption, it has been officially official.
Henrik Lundquist has been bought out by the New York Rangers after 15 seasons in the organization.
It was reported last night by TSN.
For those who don't know, TSN is like the Canadian ESPN obviously, like cover hockey because hockey is big and can And because you, it's safe to say now that my childhood of watching sports has concluded, Um, it is Ah, whole new era is begun.
He is a Rangers icon.
Might be one of the all time greats for the New York Rangers.
Even though he never won the Stanley Cup, that has well been well deserved.
He is Theo, old time leader in winds.
I think it's around 4 80.
He's fourth all time on the NHL list.
He's a five time all start.
He was the Venezia Trophy winner in 11 4012.
Overall, he's been the face of this franchise for a good decade now and you hate to see it.
You know, growing up, I became a Rangers fans, mostly because of Lundquist.
You know, that was the first guy I really knew and he lived.
He he had a great career, you know.
He had a great career in New York, especially in hockey.
You don't You don't see that very often.
Where? Ah, players on a team for that many years.
I mean, Mark Staw.
He got traded to the Canes.
E think it was Saturday and he was there just a long as hang.
But it's not very common, you know, as a Ranger.
Family like you don't see that many people that Ah, lot of players come and go the most that they last.
Probably like 78 years.
Obviously, he didn't get the Stanley Cup that he well deserved.
And it's just a sad day.
Pretty much the Mount Rushmore of New York sports for the past 20 years is 10.
15 years is over.
Um, the Mount Rushmore? I would say arguably it could be Derek Jeter, Eli Manning, Carmelo Anthony, Hendrick Lundquist.
But now the question is, Who's gonna be? What's gonna be the next Mount Rushmore for the next generation? The generation coming in? I mean, there's a big There's a lot of people.
I mean, for baseball, you could say Aaron Judge Gary Sanchez, Labor Torrez people.
Alonso on the Mets.
He's got a 13 year contract.
He'll be here for a while.
It could be Matthew before Zell from the Islanders.
Right, Adam Fox or tummy panel.
Karen for the Rangers.
There, the list goes on for hockey.
There's so many good players.
There's so many players on the rise that could be as big as long. Quincy.
Um, he's been sinuous, phenomenal last year.
Um, they don't look.
Rangers didn't look that well in the playoffs as we know, but and then for football, it could be Daniel Jones said Kwan, Barkley, Darius land, Um many, many more.
You know, you just don't know yet.
It's too early to tell basketball.
I wouldn't consider Kevin Durant or Kyrie Irving on this Mount Rushmore.
I don't see Kyrie being here that long.
Same with Katie Katie starting to get a little older, he could move out.
If you could go, he could retire.
Who knows what's gonna happen with basketball? I mean R. J.
If he continues to improve, definitely.
He could be the face of New York.
But we just got to see what happens.
You know, Um, you just don't know.
I mean, the last 10 15 years have been great entertaining toe watch.
You know, Giants had two Super Bowls.
The, um the next went back to the playoffs.
The Yankees won the World Series and nine, but it's just those names on that Mount Rushmore for New York sports that are all gone.
Like I said, Jeter vanquished Manning.
They are all gone now.
So, like I said, Who's gonna be the neck? Who's gonna Who's gonna take their spot? We don't know.
Um, that's all I really got to say.
Um, I thank you guys for watching.
Henrik Lundquist, for an amazing career in the range, is bringing so much joy to this fan base.
I mean, he was beloved.
Everyone loved him.
No one hated long place.
He was well respected around the league, well respected around the world, so we'll see what happens.
Um, that's pretty much that.
I'll be here Sunday to review the Giants Rams game that I am not looking forward.
