I'm getting I'm getting Yeah, you know, like everything back to normal for the summer.
I'm supposed to be, like, out of town for, like, the whole summer.
I want to see, like, could I last without E? I don't trust any other barber like e need to go to the same guys, but I I can't.
I'm a little bit concerned now.
E could last unless, like, a perm, But I don't think I'm Yeah, I was desperate for a minute and try to cut myself.
But look out, you try to cut your own hair.
Yeah, but it didn't work out.
What do you mean? Like, how is it even possible? I can't think of cutting my own.
Or would you sit in front of a mirror and just go like whatever? Yeah, I like.
I like I actually I actually did good on the sides, but when I got to the back, I just messed up badly.
Sounds, uh, that sounds kind of crazy.
There's no way I would cut my own hair because for me, I was like a little bald spot because, like, I would like, pull my hair out because I don't know.
I was like, I was like, the way I feel like I was in class.
I was like, play with my hair and it all falls out.
So I don't trust any other bar because, like, what if they, like just chunk pop off hair was like a big head like, Yeah, I gotta I gotta go toe right, but yeah, At the time, I was desperate like none of the barber shops were open or anything.
So I just said, forget it, trying to come on it.
It feels like longer than because I let her keep it a little bit long, so uh oh, yeah, yeah.
But anyways, I actually get right just interview before begin.

I've talked Thio here in SportsCastr bad ways, you know, Let's get right instead of you.
My first question I'd be a little bit of a weird one, but it seems like you are You are a bit of an anime fans.
So, do you like animals? E love animal.
I actually got in the anime this year.
Like at first I never like animal.
I always thought it was weird.
And then I started watching Arto, and that's what really turned me on to it.
Yeah, on DWhite.
Do you like about what you like about anime that makes it so special? Uh, honestly, it's just like they're always fighting.
They're always doing something crazy.
That's pretty much the reason why I started watching it.
It was fun watching stuff.
Yeah, at least for me.
Like, I don't think I'm ever gonna watch anima.
I remember in ninth grade.
Like my friends on the basketball team, the huge like talking with me all the stuff I'm like, Seriously, like I thought it was like, a weird thing to do, you know, like a middle school.
Like people making fun of people like, Oh, I should probably walked down weird.
So I find it really like but basketball player, I feel like, isn't a animus.
So why do you think it's like with some of the basketball players? It's an athlete that they all watch.
Anime? Um, honestly, I think it's for the same reason that I watch it because, like, there's, like, a lot of action in it.
They're always fighting, always doing something crazy, like you never know what to expect.
It always keeps you interested.
So that's the main reason why I think everybody watches it.
Do they speak English and animal? Oh, yeah.
They speak English like, um, I think for most of them, like some of them, that some of them they don't.
But most of them they speak English.
Yeah, Onda like this on TV, right? You gotta watch nothing or something like that.
Yeah, That z watch it.
You said what get the hacker website to watch it? Uh, no.
They usually have everything on Netflix, mostly.
Yeah, that's what that's really where I watch it most of the time.
I still think it's a little bit weird, but ways, I'll tell you that we could stop talking about always and myself.
Let's talk about basketball.
You know what the people really want to hear about eso You told me your South Carolina right now? Well, what games are you playing in? Um, right now, yesterday, I just finished playing against, uh, the Lakers.
I think that from down here.
And so I had a pretty good game yesterday.
I've been hurt more like I've been hurt all the tournaments, so I haven't really been having, like, great games and stuff, but I've been doing okay.
And since you said you know what, you haven't hurt.
Um, how you can be able to come back and bounce back from, you know, being injured.
Uh, honestly, I've been stretching a lot, so that's kind of helped me recover.
And, uh, I've been icing and stuff, so that's Oh, yeah, and I see high.
I see how it helps a lot.
So, yeah, If it wasn't pricey, I wouldn't be playing right now.
Yeah, that that that icy hot? Pretty, uh, pretty interesting. I have toe.
I've tried on a few, uh, on a few things before my friends, but I'm not gonna I'm not gonna go really into detail, but that icy hot is, uh that is definitely a cool thing.
What? Maybe what? Maybe your favorite stretch, Um, my favorite stretch growing stretches.
It's like, um, you kind of just like, ah, high knee.
You kind of just put your leg to the side.
That helps a lot.
Like when you walk in, it kind of goes like like that.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
You know, my least favorite stretches, though.
Those sucks. Yeah.
Yeah, I hate, um, Frankenstein's.
Yeah, I think it was because that's our favorites. Dread.
Uh, yeah, I hate from the sides, but it's like it's eat.
Like, why would you hate it? Uh, honestly, I don't like I've just never like Frankenstein's for some reason.
Like I'm really flexible so I can do them easily.
But I like I've never liked him for some reasons.
Yeah, I just for me because I'm not flexible.
So when I kind of figured out, like how to touch your foot during that stretch, I was very impressed myself.
Sometimes doing I'm like, Yo, look at me like, you know, like my foot.
So, like, I've done an accomplishment like it's it's reassuring every time I do that stretch, you know, I forgot.
What were the first talk about? Pineapple on pizza? Was that you? Yeah, that was e forgot about that, but yeah.
So So do you believe pineapple should go on pizza? No, that's like I I can't like.
I can't think of a fruit going on bread, cheese and tomato sauce.
I just It just seems like a bad mix.
Yeah, because you said that seems kind of gross, like, since kind of some of the ingredients.
But have you? Have you ever tried it before? On So I've never tried it before.
Yeah, it's it's not terrible.
I know my mom, at least like when I was, like, younger, maybe like, four years old.
I don't eat a piece like she always be like pineapple pizza.
I would kind of be like Yeah, it's kinda I Are you doing that? But then, like, try toe.
Maybe in July, I had it like it.
All right? Like, it's not good, I e but it doesn't look bad on the pizza.
Like it looks like it could be there.
You know, um, like, I don't I don't think it's I don't think that a taste bad, but it's just like a weird food combination for me, s.
So I guess if you could, you know, get a pizza on your like a limit of toppings.
What are you gonna put on your pizza? Um, honestly, some Some vegetarian.
I would put like olives, tomatoes, peppers, onions, mushrooms.
I love mushrooms.
Master Your vegetarian? Yeah.
When did you decide to be a vegetarian? Um, right after quarantine.
So right after we left school, I just decided to be vegetarian.
But the funny part is that I was in the grocery store and I decided to go vegetarian like it was never planned out.
I was just like, you know what? I'm just stop beating me right now. Right here.
And so you think it's kind of like you think maybe next month you'll just give up or you are.
You think you're really gonna stick to it? Because, you know, it's once.
It's like a lot of people like, Oh, I'm vegan.
You know, vegetarian.
Not only last, like, a few days.
You think, and you're going to stick with it.
Well, I've been I've been vetted change for, like, six months.
So and like, it's been pretty easy, so because, like, I've never really eating meat like that before.
So it was kind of easy for me for me to make the transition.
I mean, what do you talk like? A either.
But, you know, I like my chicken, so I usually only eat chicken like I like my chicken sandwich or my my chicken.
I actually, I don't I don't make you feel bad.
You see, chick fil A like every Saturday, like and still, sometimes when I see, like, people of chicken and stuff, I'm like, Oh, my God.
Yesterday I had Yeah, I I know.
Yeah, they had any meat yesterday, so I have.
Do you do you falafel? The lawful? I tried it once.
That was actually the first thing that I tried when I went.
What do you mean, vegetarian? And I got it from piece of bullies, I think.
And I didn't like it.
Yeah, that's probably a good place to get a flock, but it's it is very good.
That's probably China for the fair food.
But it's definitely I don't know, I'd be out there.
Are you Are you gonna have pizza? You could have pizza, right? Yeah.
You're gonna have pizza.
Yeah, generally vegan.
So, uh, yeah, I'm not vegan.
Do you think you might ever end up going vegan as well? Or now, uh, that was a plan at first, but I don't think I can, like, stop being dairy and stuff.
I don't think I could do that.
Yeah, that that seems like complete.
Like you guys going down.
But it's not the worst thing you could have your I guess, Alternatives, but definitely.
You know, for I think that says that's just like, crazy. Almost.
But I I definitely talked with someone else before, but I don't know if you see the development, these vlogs, and one time they gave him, like a like a burger patty.
Think he's eating And he was like? No, let's taste to really like, I don't know.
I'm not going to risk it.
And he was scared. You don't get sick from it.
You like, Do you think if you have to eat meat like you might not be ableto? Um, um, honestly, I think, if, like, down the road, like, say, like, five years or so, Like I haven't eaten meat and I try some, I might get sick.
But right now, since I've only been vegan, I mean, vegetarian for, like, six months.
This shouldn't affect me.
And have you ever had a slip up yet? Or now, uh, honestly, like in the first three weeks, my granddad he gave me, uh I don't like I don't know why.
I thought shrimp was was vegetarian, but he gave me some shrimp.
He was, like, try this and I ate it.
And then I looked it up and I said in vegetarians, the shrimp and it said no.
So I was I was kind of disappointed.
Well, can't you be out past the Terrian, though? Yeah.
Yeah, I could be a pastor, Terry.
And my mom is actually a Presbyterian, but but you just don't are, but but you dollars be vegetarian on Presbyterian.
You said what? Like you'd rather be just vegetarian and not necessary in.
Yeah, I'm not really a big fantasy food anyway.
Yeah, I mean, I actually I like, don't officially, ever, maybe once a year or have, like, e.
I don't feel that locks is like, I'll have that, like once.
I'm actually have it tomorrow.
That's, like one time a year, but or not like I don't eat fish either.
Did I asked what was the reason why he became vegetarian? Um, honestly, Jeremy javale McGee was the reason because he told me, Like Like I was looking on this log and he said how when he became a vegetarian, he looked like he felt more explosive.
He felt like he had more energy.
And I was like, Maybe I could try that and they could help me.
So that's really what made me try it. Try it.
And it Is that the truth? Uh, honestly, Yeah.
I've been feeling like I've been feeling more energetic ever since I've been vegetarian.
I've been having, uh, better games.
I've been more explosive than everything.
So it helped a lot.
And I want you doing those logs.
Lazio in the bubble because of all, hasn't been around for six months.
Like how even vegetarian.
So were you watching like his YouTube channel before he went to the bubble? Uh, no, I wasn't watching it, but like his law, like, his law came up in my record and my recommends and so well, like, I just clicked on it.
And so when they when he said that he went vegetarian and they helped him a lot, I was like, Yeah, I got to try it.
Unless having flying there is no way, um, vegetarian for six months.
I said, unless time is flying by, there's no way you've been vegetarian for six months on.
Um I don't know.
I was like, 30 Max.
Because if they've been in the bubble since, like, July or late June, we're in September.
I'm honestly like counting, but it's like three or four months.
The thing uh, I don't because Because before I saw his long, I was thinking about being vegetarian.
So I think, honestly, I can't remember now, because yeah, I can't remember when we got out of school.
But all I know is that soon as we got out of school, that's when I went vegetarian, So it could be like somewhere between four and six, but I don't really know, but, like, I know it's been a couple of months, you know? Oh, yeah, All right.
And, uh, as let's just keep going to interview.
So how is last year? Season? Uh, it was good.
Um, I think I had like, like, they're, like, near the end of the season.
I think that's when I really started to do good, like doing my, uh, like the first part of the season.
It was my first few games of high school basketball, so, you know, I was a little nervous.
Eso But yeah, like near the end, after I had got a feel for how school basketball, That's when I really started toe pick my game up and do good.
And what do you think made you live on the wrist for? Those first couple of games are of your high school basketball career? Um, honestly, I don't really know, because ever since I was in, like 7th and 8th grade, like I've been playing up in high school, but I think it was like the level of competition that we're playing like, we're playing top guys.
Like I was tired and all of them.
So, you know, like I had.
Like, I wasn't used to playing top high school guys in the country, so I think that made me nervous a little bit.
But do not play for, like, a d c. Tool.
Well, yeah, Like I played for American school.
Yeah. So we play.
You said what? Isn't he North Carolina? Yeah.
Yeah, We played him in the math.
Were you Were you matched up against him? No.
That game. I didn't get in.
Also, Crazy doctor. Something like that.
He said, What is your team? Crazy Sack them.
Uh, it wasn't crazy Stack, but they had, like, they had multiple players on their team.
But there's I was the main one on there.
No, I'm talking about I'm talking about your team because if you didn't get in and you got, like, e, your team must be crazy loaded.
Yeah, well, yeah, that should be reloaded.
guys, We're on your team.
You think I'm a may know about, um, Jalen Miller.
Have you heard around? Okay.
And we had other people, too.
But like, I think the main reason was because Oh, yeah.
And we had the Minga Stevens see, he's going to see and all.
And I think the main reason I didn't get in was because, like, I was a freshman, so yeah, yeah, that would be it all.
Something like we're gonna be mad about that. Like I'm a freshman.
They're not kind of treated me equal.
If they're not letting me play in this game or just kind of freshman, I kind of got hit my dudes.
I was heated for Yeah, for the first couple of days.
Like for the first couple of games that I didn't get in, I was seated, but I didn't like I didn't really worry.
I mean, worry about it.
I just kept on working into my time came.
And so eventually it did.
And, uh, I proved myself and however kind of thought like, That's crazy.
I have league Division one offers.
You have more than I don't you like Wichita State to? Yeah.
Which is High State and Virginia Tech.
I don't even actually gonna check real quick.
Okay? You didn't even you even posted out while you're looking your instagram highlights.
I'm sure you just didn't remember.
But I don't have 30.
So you got You got four.
I think, Um, I mean, however, kind of thought like, I have all these offers and I bear, I didn't even play like my first game.
And I got all these awami.
Yeah, Sometimes I think about that.
I just look back and I'm like, Wow, this is crazy.
I got all these office now.
Didn't even play like my first couple of games in high school.
Oh, and I'm sure one of your goals may be, you know, to play a lot more for this season, but I guess maybe other than that, what are some of your goals for this year's upcoming season? Um, honestly, I'm just, uh obviously I want to start this season.
I'll be a software, so I'll still be on the classroom.
But that's one of my girls to start.
And I wanna, uh, leave my team to some championships and stuff.
Eso mainly That's it.
And what has the agreement pocket that Mike? Um, it's been actually, it's been crazy, especially like with all the coaches calling me and stuff.
And sometimes I just think back and I'm like, Wow, because right when I like when I first came into my freshman year, Bishop Waas, I would like I would have never thought that I would have all these office and coaches concept could be doing this summer.
So every time I think about it's just crazy to me.
But the coaches, they are contacting you directly.
That all right? He said, What? Like the coaches aren't contacting you directly, though, right? No, they're not contacted me directly.
Yeah, I was wondering because because you just turned 16,000.
Maybe because he's I guess the age of 2022 guys.
Everything contact you directly.
So I was kind of wondering, uh, about that.
Yeah. Now they haven't been contacted me directly.
And when he did receive that at Seton Hall offer, would you even consider that your biggest offer? Because it seems like, you know, a lot of media and a lot of fan encounter on making edits for the offer, so that would be the offer.
You got that kind of not putting on the map, but, like, just a lot of people started to do a lot of things for you and a lot of people Find out who you are.
Uh, yeah, I think my I think my biggest office Georgetown you that, like, that was my first big time offer that I got.
And then after that, everything just took off and I got Virginia Tech and seeing Hall came next and just looking at you know, when you got that, Because, you know, you're tagged and numbered from Georgetown, Virginia Tech under that, then for seeing hall, you know, you've got, like, two you got, like, do you know fan page accounts like making you edit and all that stuff? Um, yeah, I saw that.
What were your Oh, yeah.
I was surprised when I saw that because I was like, because if anything, I thought they would make, like at its for, like, Georgetown and Virginia Tech.
And so when I saw him for seeing how I was like, I was like, wow, because I didn't like I didn't expect any any of that.
And I'm sure that's why he doesn't have a function.
But I'm still gonna ask because you never know.
Um, since you saw So, you know, you get Georgia and Virginia Tech, and you were expecting them.
Like the fans can show some love and the constant silent.
But then, you know, you see the sea and hall fan pages, you know, making you edit.
So, yeah, he's got it all for, like, you know, good for us dying something you might consider, like, Hey, these fans, you know, kind of want me more than, uh, and these people, Uh, e not really like, right now, I'm not really thinking about the scholarships or anything, because, like, I'm just focused on getting, like, keep getting better and stuff getting through this house school year.
And so, yeah, right now, I'm not really focused on any of the office right now.
Yeah, I wasn't really sure considering that either.
But like I think players, they have, like, weird reason sometimes, Like why I picked the school like they'll be like, I was like, how this one has, Like, I don't know.
This dorm room was like, I don't know.
Some guys just having, like, weird reasons, you know? Yeah.
And taking a seat in Hall.
What has your relationship with that have been like, um, it's been it's been good.
And I've been, uh, talking to him, like, a couple of times a few times.
So, like, I've gotten a good relationship with them in Georgetown.
Yeah, that's awesome.
And where schools have been reaching out to be the most Georgetown to see, you know, all And what's between you that showed interest, but they haven't offered me yet.
Uh, and besides, us, Virginia is like the only school from show and have the interest.
Um, yeah, pretty much.
And what's it like playing for, uh, yeah, you are applying for prospect.
You, right? Yes.
And talk about what the like playing for them.
It's just I guess, uh, yeah, it could have been a really, really good organization has recently.
So what's it like being a part of that? Um, it's been good.
Uh, my Coast coach Doug, he's been really trying to help me developing stuff, playing me at the one in the two so I could get my point guard skills up.
So it's been really good playing with them.
Um, are you playing with, uh, are you playing with your age group? Are you playing off with cross like you? Yeah.
I'm playing 17 with them.
Is that with, like, growing And, uh, Travis? Yeah. Wrong.
And drivers? Yeah.
Is that is that the only team for the organization? Like, do they only have that one team or other guys like your age to know we have to.
We have two teams.
We have a 17 u 16 you and then ah, 15.
Wouldn't run and shout.
Wouldn't be 16 years ago.
You said what? What in the world in Travis B 16 you because they're two years this year.
Yeah, but everybody is playing up on our team.
Aren't you kind of playing double up because you're 2023? Yeah.
What's it like? Not just playing up, but you're playing like, two levels above your above your above.
Your competition should be mhm.
You said what was it like? Yeah.
Um uh, I wouldn't say it was too hard.
But I know it was like a big strength difference.
Then what it would be if I was playing my grade.
Like I noticed everybody was a lot stronger.
But as far as like, skill wise, I think I've been able to match up good with.
And what I kind of realized, too is Is that just like, you know, I guess you're applying your average role.
You said your coaches putting You know what, the point guard position And you know, I may be a guard spot.
You kind of work on those skills as well, eh? So that even been like even more difficult to develop since you're going against harder competition trying to develop skills that you're not as good.
I yet uh not really, because I've been with this coach for a while.
So he's been playing like like he's been playing at the point guard position for, like, 34 years now.
So I've kind of like I've kind of gotten used to it.
So if, like my school needs me to play the point composition or the to God, I can play either one for sure, and are you planning on sticking with them for the rest of your a few years? Even though they are, they still aren't in, like, a major circuit.
Uh, yeah, I'm playing on.
Yeah, I'm planning on sticking with him.
Yeah, I've been with this coach for, like every since I was seven years old.
So I'm planning on steak away from to the end of my high school girl and just what they're kind of like, you know, being so loyal to coach.
You know, I'm not gonna say that I'm putting you out there, but because they are, but just not playing against you gotta be all competition er in the u A or the Adidas gauntlet.
Like you're not in that.
But, you know, you sort of style like, Hey, I want to stick with my coach has to do with me through all this and how he's able to get you offers and getting a ton of good, high major looks without putting you guys on the circuit.
Um, honestly, I think, uh, since we go to schools that play national schedule, I think that makes up for, like, not playing on the EU I p or any type of circuit since we're playing, like the top competition at our high school.
So that kind of helps.
And would you say, maybe trying to put a prospect, You and, uh, I guess your team on the map and maybe make it like a trend where you don't need to play, you would be able to get offers, and you can kind of play for an independent, you know, hometown team toe yourself.
Looks yeah, yeah, I am trying to put us on the map.
And, um, hopefully we've been, like a year.
So maybe we could get, um, You will be a sponsor or something.
Yeah, that was awesome.
And then, uh, finally, before in the interview, my final question for you is what are your goals for the rest of your high school career? Um, honestly, for high school, Uh, I just want to be the best.
Like, um, wanna make ESPN.
Obviously, I wanna try to be McDonald's all American.
And so Yeah, that's really it for high school, but I was in high school, like I have way bigger boats or not.
I'm gonna share some of those vehicles like you have a Well, well, mhm.
Well, I don't have school to the D League, since they just put in that new rule that you can sell.
That's like one of my mangoes.
And then at the end of the day, okay, I just be, like, one of the best to do it to play in the league in the NBA leaves.
Uh, those were two of my that goes and so you don't wanna go to call.
You really wanna put in the league instead? Yeah, if I can.
If I could make that step, I would.
I mean, I don't know if you call the answer this, but just so you're gonna offer them talking to the school is like in the back of your mind.
You're thinking like, I'm really hoping I don't need to even go thio to this school and so that I could go straight to the D League having maybe told the coaches that, uh, no, Because right now, that's just, uh, that's just like, um, that's it.
Yeah, that's just like a dream for me right now, but like, but at the end of the day, uh, I still have, like like I have all those colleges in mind that have offered me what? What what is pretty cut out like you.
Did you have a little something in mine? Yeah, I said I have all those colleges that zone off for me and mine, Okay.
And why do you want to go to the to that? Like jelly grout? So bad? Um, honestly, because I just wanna I just wanna play like the best competition possible.
I feel like in the next couple of me in the next couple of years, I'll be able to dominate the high school level.
And so and I'm trying to just get to leave and play the best competition.
So I feel like making a dump.
The D League will help me in that journey of playing the best competition.
Can I ask that question again? Because you got a little bit e feel, like, making that jump through Dealey and like and help me in that journey of trying to play the best competition.
And it could help me develop for the n B.
And is that money is at all the factors.
A swell, you said.
What is the money at all a factor as well.
Uh, no, no, not really.
Yeah, I just like I just loved it.
But I would just love the game of basketball.
Honestly, I just want to play.
I just want to play the best competition possible.
I want to play people who I know like that's gonna get me better.
And who's gonna, you know, beat me so I could learn from them for sure, man.
And before you in this show, is there anything you want to plug or anybody shout out? Uh, yeah.
I want to shout out Coach Doug, since he's been a big part of, like, a big part of this journey for me.
And he was helping me get to where I'm at right now.
So, yeah, I want to shout out because the that's awesome.
What did you say your last name? Is that Bowman or bombing boming? Yeah, I'm boning.
All right. That's what I thought.
Um, so again, guys, make sure you guys give us a follow on Instagram at Malik Bowman.
Underscore 35 I hope cfl And then Anyways, for 2023 forward Malik Bowman.
