Right to another episode of sports headlines.
I sounded like Warren Warner with how press sounded.
Um, but you're welcome back to a new episode of sports headlines.
I'm one of your host, Sean Davis, alongside our my partner in an Alex loves getting partner in crime.
But that did not sound right today way are not committing any crimes right now, right? Uh, So, Warner, what's up? Have much, man.
Just enjoying breakfast.
Got a protein shakes and orange juice from water.
How many drinks can you have Is too early in the morning for all that? Ah, yeah, I think so.
If you're not all heard the news.
So really quickly.
Let me start by this.
I'm gonna do my Rachel Nichols jumps out ****og to start the show.
Um, there's 365 days in a year in a leap year.
When appreciate that this year was a leap year.
There's 366 days in a year.
Hunt has been just about 195 days since Briana Taylor was shot and killed several times by police officers in her home in Louisville, Louisville.
Sound familiar? Yet? That's also one of the biggest college basketball teams in the country and Louisville producing stars like Donovan Mitchell.
It was probably the biggest Louisville star, but Maura's well, Lamar Jackson, too.
What do you say Mark Jackson went there to Was the quarterback? Yep.
Um, yeah. Mark Jackson.
I think that Mark Jackson's I was like, uh okay, um, but it's been it's been 195 days.
It really quickly, Everything I see, like I see, like people on social media, You see both sides.
You see the defending the cops side, which is normally you're racist in most cases.
And you see your like defending like the Rianna Taylor stuff.
Even if her boyfriend which, by the way, that's the first problem.
People who are saying, Well, her boyfriend was a drug dealer or whatever.
Well, that's not even her boyfriend anymore.
That that was her ex boyfriend, For one.
Um, for two, there are multiple sources saying that she did not die on a where Warner just went, Uh, she did not die.
I think one of us to cut his camera if I can't sell one.
Uh, she didn't die, um, at the site, Like she didn't die immediately.
She bled out and was there bleeding for multiple minutes? Um, and they could have potentially revived are safe for whichever word you wanna use in that situation.
So even if even if right, um, her ex boyfriend shot at the police or whatever, even if he was a drug dealer or whatever, does that mean that our morals are to the point where we just leave a, ah human being lying on the ground to die, right? And none of the officers who are involved or chart directly with the death of Rihanna Taylor? So in players and celebrities all across the world have been an outrage, saying we're sorry.
We're getting concedes Piper doses into getting these guys like I mean, Lexington.
Morning might be in the back.
Me up here, you know, more, uh, happy guy, knowing like distance, locations or whatever.
Um, but Lexington and Louisville Not that far away from recalling correctly.
That's like, That's Kentucky UK University of Louisville.
So this kind of also hits hard for a guy like Jamal.
Murray went to Kentucky Tyler Hero Um, **** a d right.
And Coach Calipari, who is one of the best coaches in the country, if not the best college coach in the country.
So this it's hard for them.
And all I have to say is we're out of Taylor.
We are sorry, but at this point, sorry.
It feels like just a cliche, because that's how much for using it.
And that's my Rachel Nick Nichols.
****og, go compare with Quit.
Um, Warner, we talk about this a lot, but how important is that the athletes continues or platform? And what are your thoughts on, like the outcome and stuff like that? Well, um, let me let me answer your question with a question back to you.
When George Floyd and Briana Taylor were first murdered, we heard outcry.
And that outcry lasted probably a month to two months.
Then it kind of quieted down.
Then, with the Jacob Blake shooting, we heard more outcry and revival of the outcry of the George Void and Briana Taylor, um, story lines as well right now.
How much are we hearing? We're hearing some stuff from a few people on social media who want who post um, post stuff about this.
We're hearing a few things.
Maybe from, um, your friend who works at at your workplace who is really invested in this, and that's the problem.
I think people have gotten used to players jerseys and saying like, Love us or vote And you know, I think that's something that's dangerous.
You can't just get used to this.
Um, even though it is normal, I mean, unfortunately, So it happens far too often, and I think that makes it a little bit normal.
We cannot normalize this in our minds and our our brains as we remember it, you you have to take each each death.
Honestly, you have to take it personally, like you know what? If you're if you're if you're white, like me, you know what? I'm so blessed that I don't have to live in fear when I drive or when I walk down the street because of how I look and that's that's basically the the center of white privilege.
And I just I can't really imagine how I mean me personally, I hate being judged.
I hate being, um you know, silence and, you know, take control over shoot I would not last very long.
Um, if I did not Look how I do, Yeah, I'll never touched on something that you said, Um, which was basically you've got a used to it.
And that's why when Jacob Blake was shot seven times in the back, um, that players were really contemplating not playing because they looked at the back of the jerseys. Whatever.
And said just ain't working.
It's the same thing.
Um, so we look at it that way? Yeah, that that was a great point.
And, like, how long was just from Rianna Taylor training on Twitter, baby? Um, a couple of weeks.
How long was justice for George Blake? 20.
Turning a couple weeks, Jacob.
Like I've been like, it was shorter, like maybe a week talks.
Um, granted, I've been as active on social media living, but not a week I feel Morning, maybe back up. I love about a week.
Um, so with unfortunately like you pointed out, it's almost like we're used to it at this point, That that's a problem.
And really quickly, you know, Kobe coming to this wonderful border.
You know Kobe coming to this? Yes.
You have seen fighter, Um, who basically has caught a LeBron his head.
Um, they are Hold on, prettified it.
Uh, what do you say? Wait, he's, uh oh.
There's basically what he was saying was trying to find the exact quote.
Because I don't I don't wanna pair of our incorrectly, um, Werder in his statement.
But even though I mean, it is kind of hard to because I get the gist of what he was saying.
Basically, he said, by the way, he's a trump supporter.
Um, and basically, uh, he called LeBron a coward to say, basically saying I don't want to be like thes woke athletes.
Like like LeBron Jason.
No, this is exactly what he said I want to dedicate.
This was after winning a UFC fight.
He said this This is verbatim.
What he said, I'm not, uh, it correctly saying what he said.
I want to dedicate this fight toe all the first responders, all the military out there.
You keep us safe.
Not thes woke athletes on.
Not the spineless cowards like LeBron James in.
And then you got guys like a D and Austin rivers and so on. And so forth sample.
What's this guy again? And and it's kind of funny with you because I have never heard of him getting really quickly.
This is just a publicity thing.
This is this is him trying to take advantage of Hey, let me go out to LeBron get my name out there because I never I didn't really watch you guys like the big guys.
I don't. Nate Diaz.
Um, Connor McGregor obviously, is my guy, um, like, competitive aspect.
Um, but I believe that I believe that what he said was authentic.
Um, but again, that's part of the problem, right? And that's why.
And that's why really quickly.
I respect Meyers.
Leonard, I respect the decision, right? Especially when he came out inside the n b.
His brother is in the military came on and kind of talk about the situation.
And while I respect his decision to stand for the national anthem, you're in the middle of a movement, right? And whether you necessarily agree with the decision or not, if you respect it, I feel you should kneel because it's bigger than you.
And you're doing it for a cause, right? Who's just random Alright for being completely honest, Colin Kaepernick nearly international.
It was kind of random, like we didn't know that was happening. I'm sorry.
He knew, but it wasn't like plan and well thought out, Elise, in public to the way the MBA waas.
Right? So it's not like that This was planned and thought out thoroughly.
And so, while I understand his opinion, understand his feelings of the situation.
But you truly respect what your brothers and they respect them back, um, or going through and stuff like that.
I feel like he shouldn't kneeled it anyway.
You might necessarily.
He doesn't disagree with me.
Doesn't agree with the either you get my drift.
Um, I feel like he still should have Neil because it's bigger than himself.
That may that may be controversial, but that's how I really feel is bigger than you.
And if you truly respect what your brothers are feeling and going through, I feel that he should have never.
Regardless, is that contract remember feeling that way? No.
I understand why you're feeling that way.
Um, and you know what? The kneeling of the national anthem, that process was designed to basically, uh, Colin Kaepernick essentially asked to veterans who thought that what when he sat during the national anthem, Thank you, e Think that goes under the rugs, often cap Talk to veterans about it like the veterans, like military military veterans.
And they told you it would be.
It would still be respectful to veterans and the flag if he were to kneel during the national anthem, but it would still get his point across.
And, um, I think a lot of people are missing that because it happens.
You know so often that somebody is saying, Well, don't disrespect the flag But it's not really about the flag it's never been about.
It's not about disrespecting military.
It's not even about disrespecting the police more.
So it's about Ugo launching systemic change through the police, right? If you go back to college athletics, very first statement it was.
He's protesting police brutality college capturing.
They need to go a Sfar, as he probably could have said.
Forget the police.
You know what I wanted to say? Forget the police and lets the fund the police.
He'd even go that far.
He said No, I'm just protesting police brutality.
That's all he did.
It was never once about the flag disrespecting the military.
And I had that sort of disrespecting the country.
Really, I was like, There's just one thing if you think that you're that somebody's disrespecting you because they want, like, change in you Like if I'm If I'm just being If I don't shower for for three months and then Sean tells me, Hey, Warner, you should really take a shower.
Um, you're affecting all of us and I take that as an insult and disrespectful.
And then I cut off all ties.
The Sean That's not disrespectful by him to say, Hey, you should really shower.
You're affecting a lot of people.
It's just Hey, man, you kind of smell like you haven't showered in three months because you haven't showered in three months.
Especially the lifestyle that I live.
I'm sweating all the time, and that would be terrible.
Yeah, I might die of Oh, my God.
I almost died thinking about that.
But yeah, I just wanna put this out there and again.
Can't let stuff like this like this needs to be trending.
Like like honestly, I think Jacob bleak until it happens like justice for drinking.
Blake e like that trend it for a week we're gonna say, Lauren, George Floyd trying for a little longer Because there are more.
Like I felt like there's more outrage and writing at that point.
God, this has to stay trend, Nick and I feel is partially our responsibility to a certain extent being the most.
That's in question sports columnist Mosul that sports builds our responsibility to a certain extent to, you know, Thio talk about that.
And you do agree with us.
You agree with us.
You don't agree with us, Warner.
That's e mean, Warner's more than happy to have you on the show.
I'm more skeptical, but I will talk to you.
Don't worry about Sean, Sean.
Yeah, yeah, yeah.
No promises about me coming on.
But you always get Warner.
I'll be able to mute him or kick him out of the meeting, so I just won't be there.
I might not show up.
No, it depends on how disrespectful you get.
Like, if you say Oh, no, black lives.
Don't matter, you stupid people.
Yeah, I'm not showing up because I might just The episode might never get published, but it depends on the disrespectful you get but really quickly.
About five minutes in time.
Hey, Sean, let me ask you, I gotta ask you a question real fast.
Did you see that newspaper clipping where? E don't even think it was the front page.
It might have been the front page, and it said it said something like, um, verdict for black woman who was shot or something.
And and I'll have to find that, um, I'll have to find that.
But do you Do you know what I'm talking about? It all A If you like showing to me, maybe, but yeah.
Now talking my head now, wait, wasn't from, like, the New York Daily Post or whatever.
There was something like that.
It builds on the New York Daily Post, and I already know it was some racist crap.
Um, but not not New York times.
You know, there probably is.
Some play at least a little races, but New York Daily Post or whatever the heck they are against red at the top of the most definitely racist, well, stepping away, and I'll have to find that.
Go ahead and say way.
Just talked about this, like, two weeks ago.
You spend an hour freaking 36 minutes.
How long was that episode? It was a long one.
Hello? Where is it? Cross over.
Like in this quick on us.
That waas I see.
Let's see, It was 145.
No, it was an hour and 34 minutes.
And I was only three weeks ago.
Little little more than three weeks ago.
About four weeks ago.
This is just four weeks ago.
They were right back in a similar situation Is that reacting to a death? It is, But it is like it was like she wasn't for a wolf. Somebody.
All we know was she wasn't shot last night, But it is, really? You go.
I'm trying to say, um so, yeah, um, e transition from that because I wanted to talk.
It got, like, five minutes.
I wanted to talk about the Lakers and Nuggets really quickly.
I could have time later on that we'll all that depending on how it goes unless Warren shows up, which I'm very pessimistic that that'll happen, Unfortunately.
But you know what? Let's do it right. Quick corner.
You know, I feel like morally Uhh.
I feel morally wrong if that makes sense.
And actually, I don't think I don't think that's how you want to say it, but I get what you're saying.
Holloway. Really quickly.
Actually, I have a lot more Time Warner's.
So beer free, we could keep going.
I don't have a class.
Apparently, Um, s o your call As long as you want you men.
I got some research to do for later.
Later on sports headlines.
If debates shows up, two debates a good marine you've been desperately waiting to do for a long time.
LeBron and Yannis and Aaron Rodgers.
Lamar Jackson will be there later, starting at 10. 20.
We're gonna kick it off with 1.
20 Because I can hack in finagle that a little bit.
So which was it was gonna be first a rod and Lamar or good body? Yanis which everyone? Man, I don't I don't care either way, because I know either way I'm gonna win mine.
But I'm arguing that Aaron Rodgers side, in case you all didn't know that really quickly.
LeBron Yonas first, cause you and me kind of didn't a Rod Lamar thing a little while ago.
A few days ago? Yeah, OK.
Eso really quickly.
Here are the rules we're gonna try to make as close to 30 to 35 minutes is possible.
And for the for these debates, guys, we need need, need, need, need, need need.
Need you guys to be active in the chats, giving questions for the debaters or whatever giving clearly thought at the end who won the debate.
We need you guys to be active in the check for later.
Um, well, here are the rules again, as close to 30 35 minutes.
Right? Um, you get 2 to 3 minutes to start, and the other person is not thought it would be muted at the beginning.
So three minutes each.
You can If you have any bill that you want to use, you need to send it to the moderator who will need to be as especially like LeBron Yonas.
I know Warner is gonna be unbiased and like the middle ground.
He doesn't really give a crap about either players.
Um oh, but the LeBron Yeah, I thought you were talking about Roger's Lamar.
I was like, I definitely would crap about one of those players.
I don't care about Rogers and Lamar either.
Like I was just arguing for Lamar area.
I was saying that it's I feel it's closer than you're making it.
That's all I was.
I mean, you know, throughout the first two weeks, he has definitely shown radical improvements and accuracy.
But again, wait again.
I said one day Monday.
If he does not money that football he does not behold out in a major game for Patrick Mahomes, it's gonna show up.
Then, then then then against in fear your chief's defense as well.
So Moms has a harder task playing the Ravens defense, and Lamar does playing chief.
Then I'll fall back a little bit, but it But it would not both said they were both gonna ball out high fifties and scoring, so the over under would have had to be like 102 for us to not e go under.
Um, but yeah, I really cook back to the rules.
Three minutes each.
The moderator rules be in charge of making sure that the that the other debater or what have you is muted.
Um, who shot his friends? Hello? Shawn's friends.
Um, yeah, but we will.
We will be muting, um, people off the right now.
You know what, Sean? I have an idea.
I don't know if it'll work.
I'll talk to you off camera, but I have an idea.
So Okay, way back to the rules are quick.
Um, yeah, the moderate be in charge of the person.
Other debaters have the baby in muted.
You have any film? You need to send that to the moderators and the link so that they can share their screen and show and all that good stuff.
Then, after the three minutes are up, the moderator will spend about two minutes for both debater asking any follow up clarifying or what have you questions or thought? Provoking questions to keep it going, you know? Yeah, I might say so.
Sean, how do you react to you? Honest winning M v p.
but LeBron going ****her into the playoffs.
So I give both sides of the argument a fair shot because both of them accomplished something and and that will further discussion.
Right? So then that's probably get a question.
I'm gonna ask, That's what.
After that, they're looking at probably 20 minutes left, and then then after that point, it'll be about 10 or 15 minutes where you know, pretty much back and forth and the moderator being trying to make sure the it's no yelling occurs s so don't destroy your ears.
I mean, just look what me and Shawn's kind of discussion about one more on Rogers.
He was he was hurting.
Everybody's your drums.
I had turned my speaker down because he was talking so well.
I felt I felt the shade and last statement, But it's all good.
There was definitely shaded that statement. Yeah.
Uh, um, they'll be in charge and make sure, like both guys get their arguments out.
Um, and then it begins.
Our we beg you guys to be active in the chat, because if you are, we let include you guys, um, at the end, like the last five minutes will be space and time.
You guys, too ask any questions you guys have and potentially even vote on who won the debate.
Because if not, it will be the moderator's job to unbiased Lee, uh, decide who won.
And if it doesn't go somebody's direction the way they wanted to be.
There might be some hurt feelings after the debate, and we don't want that especially like if it's if it's wondering, Warren debating and I pick Warner.
Warren's gonna go berserk and say, Oh, my girls here being areas are yeah, and by the way, so I hope he doesn't use this excuse.
I'm not what I said that our debate against Warner I'm not gonna even that's not gonna be on my mind.
It's gonna be who has the best argument.
It was like E but you, you when you and me, we're talking about Lamar Rogers.
You sided with the Lamar side, so e no.
But but But again, I was I didn't say who was better.
I said they were.
I was better because he was number three on my list.
But what? I was arguing. Waas.
It's closer than how you had it.
Like the way I felt you had it.
Waas a Rod Lamar And I was saying, It's a Rod, Lamar.
So I felt like the gap is shorter.
It's better than the market.
Just want to get that out there.
That's not up for debate.
But again, I just like I had to kind of like a rod.
Right? So you have my homes, Wilson a Rod and then Lamar and then Watson.
So Okay, I did have a tear gap between Rogers and Lamar, though.
You are correct, right? Um, but yeah, kind of.
In case you didn't realize, my top three quarterbacks have all been Super Bowl winners and played well in the playoffs, unlike the Shawn Watson, Lamar Jackson.
Just wanna put that out there.
There is a method to my madness a little bit.
Case you didn't notice.
Um, appreciate it, but yeah, hopefully they run as close toe 30 minutes.
It's possible, um, and yeah, So there will be two different, uh, like SportsCastr streams.
Um, consume may inevitably kick us out of it, because so that's what I'm saying is you Yeah.
Zoom, Zoom is not very nice.
Eso the screen This the thumbnail for this video that I was trying to put on did not go through, so I'm kind of angry about that.
But that is something that I'm gonna have to talk to with my computer because it's doing something wrong.
Have a good long shall with the computer, but, um, yeah, so I'm gonna go do some research.
Me? You could talk off camera.
Thank you for listening on podcasting platforms to the most authentic place of sports.
