Hey, everyone, this is scoring here at sea money us.
And what absolute awesome surprise coming down tonight tonight for you guys this morning for me, uh, trying to do the run with the kids to school.
Run, and this drops just absolutely exciting.
Time to be a patriot fan.
Ah, I'm kind of at a loss for words.
I wanted to come on and talk about this just because as a Patriots fan, I've been listed him guy, Um, this whole off season, I thought that, you know, having said I'm there wasn't the end of the world.
Losing Tom Brady wasn't the end of the world and that we were gonna move on.
There were some early rumors about Cam Newton being in Boston.
Kind of lost my mind a little bit.
Thought that would be awesome on the record, saying, You know, if we can get Cam, then so be it.
But I just didn't see it happening with the $675,000 in cap space the Patriots had.
I just didn't see us being able to get him under the cap.
That being said like this now happening, patriots actually being able to get Cam Newton on the roster is an absolute steal.
I love it from organization.
Um, I love it from yeah, every kind of kind of way to look at it, Um is an absolute just amazing feeling to go from.
Obviously, we all had hoped Stadium could do something, but we don't need hope when you have Cam Newton.
Ah, 31 year old quarterback, Um, you know, just getting to his prime.
And a lot of people have written him off for whatever reason.
Um, but we can go into why I still have a lot of faith.
And, um, just just in the way he what he brings to this team now in what he brings to an NFL team.
Um, nonetheless the patriots.
So just looking back.
What's that? Mark that Mark Bell us.
And, uh, how's it going, man? Let me know if you want to get in here.
Um, happy lets you.
Ah, so just let's just get into it here.
Obviously, he was on chris seems top 10 quarterback list.
I know he did top 40 but Cam Newton was number 10.
Uh, any time you can get inarguable.
Arguably a top 10 quarterback on your roster.
Obviously, that's gonna be a good move.
I believe Mike Lombardi talked about this a few weeks ago.
Hey, said that, you know, Cam Newton would be a really good fit for the Patriots.
And no one knows the Patriots like Mike Lombardi.
And I was totally on that board.
Um, having Josh McDaniels there and, you know, and things like that, it's just an absolute perfect situation for Cam Newton especially.
But like I said, the only had $675,000 in cap space.
So, um, it sounds like this deal is a one year, $1 million deal.
I don't think the details are out yet, but one year, $1 million I think, is where we're at at the moment, Um, and then just a bunch of incentives.
So, um, we'll see what the incentives are and what he can get up to.
But I think this is just a perfect spot for him.
I think with Cam, everyone was waiting to see on the injury front if he had fully recovered.
He's obviously done shown some workout videos and things like that and those have all looked good, as you say, but I don't think the shoulder was the issue.
I think it was the foot.
He said so recently, um, interview office recently.
Um, but on if you listen, if you follow Warren Sharp on Twitter, um, he posted the interview.
And he talks about the foot injury in how you know he tried to push through that in 2019.
Um, that you got hurt in a preseason.
So, um, is gonna play a little bit of that here.
No, they sold fast for it.
Teoh Preseason game for everybody has been kind of folks, you know, like camps changes, throwing motion.
How would that kind of effect? You know, his overall play of the game.
And it happens the unthinkable, so to speak.
Something else got hurt.
Something in the back room of my minutes preseason.
And, you know, I don't need to keep her long in this scramble, you know? So as I was kind of died before that, plants still, you know, kind of felt it, but didn't like no, they extended the injured.
And when I got up, I just Oh, some little fear, right? Right, something.
OK, I got time, you know? And I knew I wasn't playing, so I just kind of spent that whole week with rehab and therapy rehab, trying to accelerate the whole the recovery process or to try to get back to 100%.
And this is where I got him away, because automatically, I thought I got a week work.
I can't let my fans down.
You know I want to be there for my team, as we want is preparing.
We're facing the Rams that was so self conscious of my foot.
They were calling certain plays in practice and I'm limping.
It's the obvious limp practice.
We talk about practice, and that was practised fast forward and to the first game of season.
I have a ritual that I do, just like, you know, the Israel lights and walk around Jericho.
That's what I kind of due process each and every game.
I went around the the field.
In essence, that kind of marked the territory and visualize myself making plays.
So Week one as I'm about to jog around, I realize, OK, run.
I I can't try to job.
Okay, I can't do that so fast.
That being said, a lot of people thought it was his shoulder, but it was this foot the whole time.
So his foot is healthy.
I believe that Cam Newton is gonna be just as good a quarterback as he's always been in 2018.
His last, um, I guess season where he accrued more than two games, which was 2019 and he played hurt.
Coming off, he had a 33 195 yard season, 24 touchdowns, 13 interceptions.
Ah, he had a 67.
9% completion rate.
Um, that was the highest of his career.
So he was obviously doing very well coming off that 2018 season.
Um, I don't see how, um, he regresses in that way.
I think the patriots have tons of options underneath it, you know, easy completions for him to make.
And then they have enough on the outside to give Cam Newton some big targets.
Gotten Akil Harry.
Now, obviously they got Mohammed Sunu who's looking really good this preseason.
Um, you know, at in Julian Edelman, which be a security blanket for him.
These tight ends as well.
Um, plus, there are running backs.
I think this puts the Patriots right back in the running for the FC, and that might just be the homer and me.
Um, but that's my thoughts on the Patriots this season.
I think they have a chance to come back and make another NFC championship game.
I think Cam Newton is good enough to do that, Um, with Jared's did, um, I felt like they were good enough to get into the playoffs.
Um, but adding Cam Newton, I think that changes up a little bit.
So, um, are they as good as the Chiefs are? The Ravens know, but are they good enough to be the third best team in the NFC? Yes, with this defense with Cam Newton, that quarterback, I believe that they have the opportunity, the third best team in the NFC, Um, going away.
So that being said, let's look a little bit closer at you know his time in Carolina and this whole situation.
What broke down with Cam Newton? Um, Panthers.
I never really had a really good offensive line supporting Cam Newton at all, and we can talk about his weapons.
Could talk about Calvin. Benjamin.
We can talk about Devin Funches we can talk about, you know? Yes, he had, Ah, Christian McCaffrey towards the end there.
But that being said he didn't have, you know, the guys around him to kind of help him a little bit and even Even so, I mean, he was went 15 1 in 2015 was M V P of the league.
No one's expecting him to do that again.
Um, I don't I don't think any reasonable Patriot fan or a fan of the NFL expects Cam Newton Teoh be the M V P this season.
However, I do think he is.
You know it's out.
The top 12 quarterback in this league, Um, when he's healthy, I don't think there's anyone that can say that he's not other than the fact that you know he was injured, injuries happen.
It was a freak accident with his foot, which happened in the preseason game in New England.
Nonetheless, um, so I think having Josh McDaniels here in in Foxboro, I think he's going to be doing all kinds of stuff. A cam.
I think it's gonna be so much.
I thought they were gonna do with Jerry instead of anyway.
Um, both quarterbacks are mobile instead, I'm kind of fits that role.
Now, if if Kim does get hurt, they can run the same stuff.
It's not like a Brady, um, situation where you kind of have to switch it out like a Brady Garoppolo situation where you have to switch it up or even a, uh, Garoppolo toe.
Jacoby Brissett when percent had to come in and play that game against the Texans, where they just absolutely just changed a whole script.
So that's not the situation here.
Solve Cam Newton.
Cameron comes in.
He's the starter if he goes down stadium, steps in on takes over during the same stuff that Cam Newton is gonna be doing anyway.
So I don't think that changes much.
Uh, I've seen a lot of people out there, you know, like all there was still time hype in Bob Barr.
Yes, of course he was on the roster.
We didn't have another quarterback of the restaurant with Brian Hoyer.
Um, that's obvious.
Like, you can only be hyped up for the players on your team.
Um when you can sign a guy at Cam Newton's level and stature, you're going to be excited.
You, you know, you're not going to be like all Jared stood up should start over Cam Newton.
No, it doesn't make any sense.
Um, the Patriots went on to get this guy.
Um, he it looks like he took a lot of reservations in wanting to come to New England, considering the contract that he took.
Um, it's just, you know, it's remarkable.
Ah, I don't think Carolina Panthers did him any favors.
Releasing him when he did it was pretty dirty by the fact that, you know, Cam to whom is the face of the franchise and probably the greatest killed out of hand player of all time.
Um so for them to kind of kick him out the door late in the whole process, um was a tough look for the organization.
I think they would have been better off doing it right away, giving Cam an opportunity to actually get some other looks around the league and actually get paid like the top quarterback that he is.
However, that didn't work out.
Um, you know, cir***stances change cove in 19 injuries, blah, blah, blah.
But now he gets an opportunity to play with one the with the greatest coach of all time, one of the greatest offense of minds in the NFL and showcase his talents to the best of his ability.
And you can't be outside of that.
Ah, as a Patriots fan, it's super exciting.
Like I said, I think they're the third best team in the NFC.
At the moment, I will see how it all plays out.
Um, on paper, I think they're very good team.
I just absolutely love this for the Patriots.
It's going to be a great, great, great great season.
Is gonna be fun, Um, for sure and exciting. It's new.
I've already seen some Patriots haters out there.
Not agitators, Patriots fans that are haters of Cam Newton, which we could go into that.
I'm sure there's reasons for that, but, um, none of them are valid.
I think if anyone looked at 2018 Cam Newton and said we'll put him on the Patriots team, everyone would be pretty happy with that.
If you just didn't see Cam Newton as as you see him, depending on how you see him.
Um, you just have that quarterback.
The stats are going to the Patriots for the 2020 season.
You be like, Yep.
Um, not to mention we got to Auburn quarterbacks.
Now, that's fun.
Um, for you, SEC lovers, eso in conclusion like, really, I really like this pick up for the pages.
It's such a patriots Move, you guys.
If you guys pay attention in the last 20 years, what do the Patriots do they get? How do you always say damaged assets, if you will Or, you know, first round picks, former stars.
Um, you know, guys that fall out of favor even though they've been highly productive in their careers and they get them for cheap to get them for cheap, they plug them in and they win.
That's what the Patriots do.
That's what they've done for the last 20 years.
And now you do it again with Cam Newton.
Um, and if he walks, if he plays well, he walks.
Guess what they get but their ground drop a Commons commentary of age next year.
That's just smart.
That's just smart.
The Patriots Ravens are two of the best at getting calm picks.
And this is just another reason why they're good at that.
These pick up assets, they play them.
You know, if they can't work out a long term deal, so be it.
He walks, they get 1/3 round pick in, replace um for him.
So, um, either way, it's a win win for the Patriots in the Patriots organization.
Uh, just yeah, it's just really good.
Ah, situation for Cam.
It's a good situation for the Patriots, obviously a little bit in transition on offense, but I think this is going to get people really excited and pumped out, ready to go for the season.
I was really excited anyway, as Patriots fan, just because it is going to be new and different.
Uh, I've said that for my past dreams, uh, that, you know, we really look forward to, I guess you know the newness of everything.
The expectations are as high.
No one's expecting the Patriots ago.
Um, in the last basically 20 years, everyone's expected the Patriots for the Super Bowl every single year, and as a fan it can be a little bit exhausting.
I know that sounds very, um um I'm like I'm spoiled, but it is like you can't have like, that scene.
Um ah, yes, Like happiness in, um, excitement going into the season because it's such a long season.
You like week one.
All right, cool.
Like, you don't really start getting excited until the playoffs.
And, you know, a lot of fan bases start getting cited from week one like, and that's kind of the feeling that I have now, as a Patriots fan, I'm super excited to see how this all works out.
Um, I just think that it was a really savvy move from the front office in getting a top 10 Top 12 quarterback, however you want to slice it and putting him on this roster and seeing what we could do.
So that being said, I really appreciate guys time.
I just wanted to Come on, give my Cam Newton reaction.
I'm really excited for the season.
Look forward to it.
Um, fantasy wise grab Cam Newton Grabem describing late, um, and over the best.
I really appreciate it, guys.
Thank you, and I'll talk to you soon.
