three fully into the summer.
Now for sure, it's time for that.
About it is I mean, I know everybody knows right with everything has been going on.
It just doesn't feel like that full.
That football summer vibe is quite kicked off, but now that's like the heat.
It's strange Things started happening, right? Yeah, It's like we all know what to do.
Or around this time we all know what goes on around this time, but it kinda crap crept up on us.
And I know there's a lot of people with their reservations about whether they can do what they're used to doing my development.
They actually just opened the football today.
And I'm like, Is that a good idea? No.
And I'm like, All right, Ah, if we're going to get in the pool like about to be often running here.
All right, let's get into it.
Um, talking about J.
Smith leading candidate to join the Lakers Heat last Magic Johnson.
Just I guess, though, on his twos out there about Avery Bradley.
Ah, I think that not play now, Avery Bradley, everyone knows, is someone that has spoken up in the last couple of weeks, kind of was not far behind Kyrie Irving in his stance and what he had to say.
And I know he came out very strongly and said that he wants to make sure their things in place and that things are being done before he plays.
So I haven't heard anything about about any family issues or him being worried about health.
I think he just feels like this isn't the right time for him to be playing basketball.
I think he feels like this is a time for him.
Teoh be an activist and used his platform and seize the moment, which is 100% fine.
But then Magic Johnson came out with the tweet.
Basically, the Laker nation.
I think Magic Johnson was the former GM or something like that not long ago, before he stepped away.
But for Magic Johnson to come out and say the Lakers have a harder chance of winning the championship now without Avery Bradley.
I think that was kind of like OK, like in the MBA, Twittersphere um you know, people were starting a conversation now about okay, LeBron being the favorite now losing a player like Avery Bradley.
Maybe the Lakers aren't so much in the favorites.
So insert J. R. Smith potentially.
And here we are with this topic.
Would you think about you know, any of that from the last night into today? Yeah, I did see a little something, and I don't want anyone that they cast dispersions on what? Uh what? The reasons are why someone's choosing to be a part of it or not.
I saw a little thing about how I think Avery Bradley had a six year old son that maybe has some pre existing conditions.
Ah, they're not any serious health issues, but enough that he had a conversation with his wife, potentially saying, risking going into the bubble on coming out of it.
But to your point, too.
But there's someone family element there because I didn't hear that.
So there is one element of the family, but and again, when you when you were also on the front foot along with Kyrie around some of the other discussions, you can understand it maybe just being combination of those things.
So what magic? Saying initially my fault was alright, Avery Bradley, you know you have LeBron.
You have a d I that's those are the two main components.
I guess what I will say is I didn't realize that Avery Bradley started 44 out of the 49 games that he played in for the Lakers this year.
So I mean, look at it and you start to think, Okay, you know, let's look at the Danny Green's Thea Regime Rondos the You know, uh, Caruso's like you start to think Who are the guys that maybe you're gonna pick up some of those minutes? Yes, said the Dunster.
My God, that does there.
How in? How in in shape will the dunks 30 coming into the bubble? But yeah, I mean, you have you have guys there.
At the very least, you have veteran players there, and then you hear Jr so getting thrown into the mix.
The worst case that I can think there is that that's familiarity with LeBron James will be comfortable coming in and getting into a role that obviously the team, at least when LeBron is steering things on the offensive end, you'll understand what he needs to do in spots.
It needs to be and so it's a little extra decks.
In my mind, I don't see how this really moves the needle as faras.
What the chances are for the Lakers will win the championship or not.
These things, actually, where they were pre or post Avery Bradley playing in my head What I think as well is, I mean, like Magic, Johnson says.
It's a tough loss is gonna make it more difficult for them.
But other teams are gonna also lose some pieces.
I think LeBron is LeBron an a d is a d and they're going to still dominate like they're still gonna have a pretty pretty straight road to getting to that finals.
If you're in in Orlando, I don't think it's gonna hurt him too much, but it is intriguing that it opens this spot for J R.
Now We saw Jr in L.
A couple weeks back during the protests, and that started perks in people's ears up to say What was J.
Doing riding around with LeBron James and Anthony Davis? Which leads me to believe that LeBron James and Anthony Davis and maybe the Lakers knew that there was gonna be a potential for um in addition, like a Jr.
Smith knew that Avery Bradley was kind of on the fence about it.
And now everyone is using the Mihm of LeBron like, Is that right? No.
Like that way, like we don't have the lead about like, you don't scout famously, um, four years ago.
They are didn't know the score, got the rebound, didn't go up with it, tried to dribble it out, and I can't go like that.
He's going to get a chance to potentially redeem himself with LeBron or at least create some new memories.
Create something new to be in people's minds because he gets too much of a bad rap.
For that, I am a complete homer.
I opened up this stream talking about how J.
Smith is from Lakewood, for you went to ST Benedict's.
He was a mama's county.
I played football at Mama's universities.
Brother played football at Monmouth University.
Like two years after I was done, playing Jr used to come to campus comes to the game.
Um, I root for the guys, a jersey guy, and I really do hope that he gets an opportunity some new moments with LeBron who? He's got a moment I'll never be erased with.
Cost LeBron a game in the finals.
And obviously, LeBron isn't holding any grudges.
Hard feelings over it is Adam in L.
A, um, Ryan around with him.
Unfortunately, in l.
Someone tried to ah damaged J R.
Smith's car and we got the viral video.
I forgot about that.
You know, forget I know you go.
Someone's Yeah, someone on MBA Twitter was like, Whoa, does Jr have to services mentioned for beat the **** out of that kid like, No, I don't think I mean, he wasn't in the n b a.
So like they're not going to do anything with that, But yeah, it's all right.
It's interesting dynamic now.
So here's where I wanted to get into next.
So, like now we're talking about players being signed, and you seem Corey Brewer is signing with the Kings on uh, Joe ****.
Noah with the Lakers are not Lakers.
Excuse me, the Lakers might sign Jr.
There's other guys coming in and we just, you know, as Nets fans, we were just talking about well, Matt Brooks trying to join perfect timing as Nets fans we were talking about, um, Tyler Johnson and college.
The dancing crew from a you know, the Nets bench.
Perfect timing, Matt.
Well, Co five years I was just Trans positioning us from talking about Avery Smith and, uh, or Hebrew Word signing with the Kings and joking, no aside.
Sometimes with the Nets, we lose tape.
Wilkinson on my boy jojo way.
We got our finally got her, man.
They offered him that that $50 billion Do they really do believe dollars sheet back in a few years ago? So you finally got a guy.
There was something out that, um the only the only thing left for Sean Marks to do is to get Porter.
If you could get Porter, people have the big offer sheet.
He got back around and he got crab in the room.
Now he's got Tyler Johnson.
So one more dominant of football before he he's finally achieved some of those big goals from a roster move standpoint.
I wasn't sure about Sean Marks in his ability to really assemble a roster until I saw the Tyler Johnson was coming up.
Yeah, I like the move.
Ah, that in the chat, you said you you weren't really feeling about it.
We're just talking.
No, I don't care about him, but sorry.
I use now he's not on TV anymore.
I mean, look, man, like I Tyler Johnson, Here's the thing.
So he is an undersized shooting guard who can't play point guard because he can't move the ball.
Occasionally, his three point percentage basically has declined since he entered the league.
And, uh, he's dealt with injuries.
I I honestly would rather take a flyer on J.
Smith or take a flyer on a Geely guy and see if you're not gonna hit the way you did what she owes unnecessarily.
But I would honestly rather they run out another Teal C like we know what Tyler Johnson is.
There's no, this is not look like your thing.
This team isn't gonna do anything in the playoffs, so he's already 27.
It just seems like a completely lateral move, like it doesn't.
It doesn't make the team any better.
It doesn't make them any worse.
I don't think he would be on the roster next year.
If he is, I really would hope there is snot playing, because I just don't think he's very good.
I don't know any that.
29% feel, UH, three point percentage that he's that he brought down this year.
That's quite gonna move the needle for May.
Not on a tentative attempts like you could make that argument, but he's still declined every year since.
Basically getting that huge contract, It was that you like.
I don't want to be in the Pinson defense camp here because there's there's not a lot to really get behind, but he's 24 years old, like if I'm if I'm gonna cheat somebody on the roster like if it's between Tyler Johnson and Theo Pinson, I'll keep Theo Pinson.
Let's hear it may be your point like that if you're going to take a flyer on J.
R. Smith. Okay, fine.
But if those are the two options that you're saying, it was like, Hey, we could let go of Pinson and bringing Tyler Johnson or stay what we have.
I think what we have like it doesn't it doesn't mean that Pence is gonna move the needle for me in the playoffs or next year, whatever.
But I would just assume like I didn't realize the Open opens.
It looks he suffers from Spencer Timothy syndrome like he looks like he's, uh, any young 2014 from that point and for whatever.
It's worse, Ah, from a detracting from Tyler Johnson.
His Rafter reading is a disaster, like he's an absolute abomination on the offensive end.
He gets you nothing defensively and Theo Pinson.
I have to go really low on minutes to get to the sample size for him, but he's actually a positive on the defensive That, and it's like if I'm thinking of nothing that I'd like to have around on the roaster in this clamp run, I'd rather have a six foot five guard that has some defensive signs like if you're gonna have to get into it, I'd rather put him out there.
I don't think the Tyler Johnson really offers you anything that's going to move the needle in any way when it comes to the to the restart. Finance.
Yeah, I mean, here's the thing like the offense in such a disaster on offense, that much? Yeah, I think it honestly takes away any defensive contributions that he makes like Tyler Johnson, at least.
I mean, I don't know like he was so bad this year, but, I mean, if you can get him up to, like 35% 36% like hell, just stand there and shoot a couple of threes and play like eight minutes.
And I guess that's better than feel kids coming in and turning over the ball every single time.
Like it's great if he if he played strong defense.
But if he's the reason that the other team is getting fastbreak possessions or anything like that, Yeah, I, I don't want to make this like a Theo.
Pinson is better than Tyler Johnson.
I don't think he is.
I think that if you're looking at it that way, yes, it is a plus for the Nets.
I just don't think that's the route I necessarily would have gone.
Do you want to get rid of feel Pinson because he's whatever doesn't seem like he has the commitment to the actual basketball side of things or, you know, he just doesn't seem like he's gonna be a very good player.
But I just I don't know, like it just I already know the end of the chapter for Tyler Johnson in Brooklyn.
It's once this Orlando over.
This is not a long term move.
I think this is Sean Marks, getting a guy that he once wanted.
I think, Ah, this is also a move.
Like you said Theo Pinson had a quote that he didn't touch a basketball for a month, and then he went home to North Carolina.
He went on to say that he the first time he tried to dunk a basketball, he couldn't.
That's not good.
I like to be me.
You're not 6465 like with jumping ability.
If this guy's going on an interview saying he didn't touch the ball for a month and then he went home and when he stepped on the court, he couldn't dunk.
That's like that wasn't that long ago.
That was like a mother to do.
Also like that company favors, that's a superstar thing to say.
Like if James Harden was like I said that I'd be, like, very trouble steal, Lie to us, say that I've been hustling.
You grind out of crying at Orlando.
The reason I don't play is gonna be your time to shine and been working here your tail off for this moment now, like Andrew Wiggins and say you made seven teeth in threes in a row, which isn't even a star of the video.
And I saw that video I'm like, That's what your workouts should look like.
Yeah, I e IES If you see me, it's 17 threes in a row.
It's like, Wow, Keats really done something.
But like Andrew Wiggins, your number one overall pick, Yeah, your entire existence is hitting that thing that they're doing on this video shot that you should You should be able to do it every day on the spot.
But going back to you know, he opens and and like us Sign and Tyler Tyler Johnson.
Like I said, it's It's Sean Marks getting this guy, you know, these g m's, these guys, they have guys that they where you know, you mentioned why couldn't we sign like Crawford or I don't know.
There's some names supporting around.
Unfortunately, crossover can't play because you have.
What would you have to have played this year? You have to have been on in India roster this season for duty.
He's one of the names that I brought up just throughout the year, kind of as a man.
If you were the next, even when one kind of thing when Kyrie was healthy and you want to supplement with the veteran presence like I know men as a veteran, been a six man like just have him come in and spot up on some threes for you.
Like I thought that he could have been a value at its.
After that, any team in the league, you would have thought.
And maybe he was waiting things out for the latter stages to see a team wanted to pick him up.
Yeah, and I'm I mean, there's breaks be here in the season.
I'll throw a name out like I would honestly rather like Dragan Bender.
I don't think Dragan Bender is very good, but I would have rather seen Dragan Bender on this roster because he's at least 23.
He's seven feet tall.
He can hit threes.
I like, and I don't even think he's very good.
I don't think he's gonna last in the league.
He actually feels very much like he's one of those guys.
We're, you know, he's picked in the top five and he just shows.
I would rather see that than Tyler Johnson.
You would rather see that in Tyler Johnson.
Me to when I immediately was like, OK, us waving Theo, This was more about us waving Theo.
Yeah, that's aren't the Nets aren't making moves right now to go win this thing.
They know they're not gonna win this thing.
They're just making, like, kind of like moves to clean up.
The roster changed the roster as we move into the future in this new era of this new regime.
Now there's teams like the Lakers, who are serious contenders, and they're looking at a guy like J R.
Smith, like this guy was an MBA All star.
He's got report with LeBron.
Maybe he can come plug in for Avery Bradley and help us even jokey Noah, right? Like the Clippers, the Clippers got death and then you add jokey Noah to that team.
There's defense like we're not expected him to come in and score any points only if he's in shape.
And in this time, where we're not sure who gonna show up in shape.
We're not gonna, uh we're not gonna know or see who's gonna show up, even enthusiastic, to run through these practices.
They're not gonna be like MBA games.
They're gonna be like MBA practices.
So the Lakers trying to get a J.
R. Smith makes perfect sense.
Um, I also mentioned Corey Brewer to the Kings.
I don't think this is a move to be competitive.
I think this is a move to clean up the roster and get rid of a guy like Theo.
Oh, not even get rid of just move on from him.
Move into the future.
Tears were having with, like, a Noah.
Sorry, I just quickly, uh, the thing was like a Noah and a J.
R. Smith is like we know what they look like.
They're obviously not going to be what they were even a couple of years ago, but we know that they have played in, like, high stakes basket, you know, basketball and they have a little bit of a higher ceiling like what's type? What's the upside? I just don't flyer with Tyler Johnson like, What's the upside is upside when you know from a couple of years ago was not exactly like moving the needle.
It's just Oh, okay, that's gonna add It's like when you said that, like, at least take a flyer on a young guy.
If you're not looking to win now, it is my saying that I think same thing about I don't think that you'll see a lot of this from the Nets when they restart.
But why should Nicholas Claxton get a run over over this restart time just to let him get some more reps? You know, we have to accept the fact that we all agree you're not winning this thing, so you might as well let some younger players get some talent.
You might as well take a flyer on a young guy that doesn't look like he's gonna pan out in the N B.
But if you see a little spark, maybe you bring him back.
Is Tyler to the application of Tyler Johnson's gonna be like, Listen 1st 7 years.
I was working some kinks app.
But now, Alves, I'm gonna you know.
Now, now you're about to see something and you're gonna want me back here next year with Katie and Kyrie.
So from that standpoint, it's weird to see the Nets go in that direction.
And you're right, like other teams are looking to like bringing the extra depth piece that even if we don't get six minutes, four minutes a game action, it could be that little extra defensive play.
That one shot that moves the needle for us winning a Siri's because we want to win championships.
So little, little interesting. Maybe.
Maybe it is just Sean marks checking off that box with the guy that he has in his mind that he wants to say was on this roster.
We got a question in the chat from M.
Do you think Jr will really play locked down? I I think Jr is gonna play lock down defense.
That's not what I don't think there don't think they're expecting that.
We know how, Jr, Please.
He's gonna be Flash.
He's going to shoot.
He's gonna try and dunk it if he can still dunk.
I think Jr is like 34 35 now.
If he's still got that bounce, I don't know if they're looking for him to come in and be a lock down defender.
I think he's a plug and play guy that he's going to get some minutes.
Not as many minutes as Avery Bradley probably even start, but I think he could be a good guy to get some run in this. Orlando.
Um, I don't expect him to be defensive player of the, you know, second half of his MBA season.
It's interesting to see maybe Tyler Johnson comes out on balls.
Uh, maybe Jr comes out and does this thing.
You know, we we really don't know.
There's so much to be seen.
We'll take a layer deeper, right? It's Answer the question.
What I think they are, The worst case is going to be.
It's extra bodies.
So if in the first round the Lakers go up three games to none? Yeah, maybe look wrong Game four again.
If I like you, don't you could be selective.
Maybe Rajon Rondo, if you want to protect his even older bodies in J. R.
Smith and you're gonna want to utilize him in.
The absence of Avery Bradley like this is also a way to keep other guys healthy while putting a player out up there that to this point, a feel.
Pin it and just be with this bold the other team constantly, right? Like you can't you don't have.
You wanna have his high off floor on the depth that you bring into your team.
That's what I think the Lakers expect from a.
Smith is like, Don't be a disaster for us.
Help! Help us get through the first couple of rounds.
So when it's most crucial, all of our stars of the healthy, they could be there, have a little fatigue and, you know, and, uh, and wearing hair on their bodies, especially when you have a guy like LeBron right, 17 seasons in even with the layoff doesn't mean you wouldn't like to keep him fresh all the way through this.
Yeah, they're gonna need some guys to get run even in this ramp up, right? We know the Lakers, Aaron, like there's there's ah, ramp up games.
Some of these guys gotta play those minutes.
Last question from the chat from the same guy asked about Do you think waiters will help out? I don't think waiters is signed, right? But I do remember it was like waiters are who picked waiters.
He's on the Lakers.
Oh, yeah, that I know it was at, like the end of the season.
I remember seeing graphics of like, J.
R versus waiters.
Who would the Lakers sign and then they picked.
Why not both? I know, and, uh, they signed waiters, but we didn't get to see him play.
He got the second chance.
I remember he was coming out, and we'll close with this.
He said something to his, you know, his daughter and we all know about his struggles.
But he you said, you know his daughter, he reads their bedtime stories and there's a beginning a middle and end.
And he told his daughter that, like, you know, this is the middle of his story and like, his comeback story, and that he's gonna get another shot.
So hopefully he's turned his life around dourness Florentine Pandemic.
Um, and he's ready to play.
I would love to see Dion waiters come out and play cause when he's right, he can ball.
And I think you can help LeBron and LeBron is gonna need help.
Um, I would like to see the Lakers win this whole thing.
I think it would be great for King James.
Always to trophy be hopefully Dion waiters could help them out.
Hopefully Jr gets on that team and get some minutes as well.
Let's go Leg show.
All right, well, I got a Teoh have anything goes that strong, strong finish.
Now, listen, I want to see that l A l a Western conference.
Like I thought about this the other day about some of these younger teams and, like, would be really cool.
I like the cat of the bag, but like, I got a couple of couple bucks down on the ah on the Dallas Mavericks like preseason to go all the way.
And this thing because it allows the odds were right, you know? Uh, yeah.
You know what? I think it'd be exciting to see Luca a young player, lead his team deep, but I don't know if you can make a stronger case for any other matchup in the West and being like L A versus L.
The only thing I thought about two was, man, it would have been so much cooler if they were actually playing in L.
A in the same arena.
You know, just going at it night after night for seven games, serious potential in the Western Conference finals.
Some of that gets taken away because we'll be down in Orlando.
But that just I don't know.
That feels like the bullet train.
I guess I could be.
I could be swayed as the playoffs started going, and you see what is hard and the rockets look like, you know, um, Joker jokers out now because the positive, you know, So you know that that two weeks off for him now, before he can maybe truck ran his body back up, you know that it could be a lot of things.
We're gonna go on here.
Um, but I'd be hard pressed to not get Do not be any more excited to see L.
In the Western Conference. Seems like the matchup that that you would want to have.
Yeah, I think that's what we're all trying to see that you know, They're the favorites.
And they should get there no matter what their rosters look like.
Because it's the N b a.
The MBA is run by the stars.
The teams that went have the stars, and, uh, we know the duo they have over there and some of the other role play.
That's all we got will wrap this one up.
Thank you guys for joining me.
