Thank you, Nature.
Hello, everybody and welcome to the broadcast.
I'm Samuel Res coming to you Live right here on SportsCastr It's more Australian Open action as we conclude the second round on Day four of the tournament from Melbourne Park in Melbourne, Australia.
Well, yesterday it was raining quite a bit today Ah, whole different story.
It's a beautiful day in Melbourne, the grounds crew cleaning off all the courts.
The outer courts matches had been delayed 12 30 local time, which is 10:30 p.m.
In the eastern time zone.
But they're getting all of that settled down as the weather has cleared at last after really massive downpours.
But let's recap the action that's already took place.
Matches got underway at 11 a.m.
Local time on the three main courts and Vek Itch taking care of business against corn, A 6462 She is moving on to third rapid action at the 2020 Australian Open and also in second round action.
Belinda Benches taken on Ostapenko Ostapenko can definitely make things interesting, but bench inch, no doubt the favorite in this one.
What's going on? Miami Cain's will hunk into the broadcast notifications. Cod.
God that have you here, man? Hope you're doing good.
And Belinda Vengeance did get the Vic story in straight sets.
A leech that didn't come too easy.
She went 7575 to punch her ticket into the third round.
So those two matches in the books, Rafael Nadal, is still getting ready to play 19 time major champion.
His match is coming up later on in the day.
Simona Halep preparing for her man.
She's a two time major champion.
I appreciated Miami Cain's.
I appreciate it, man.
Thank you very much.
The Neil Medved have meanwhile the 2019 U S Open finalist looking to go deep in the Australian Open.
He will be taking the court later on as well.
So many star names getting prepared.
That includes Alexander's Vera, who is a two time major finalist.
It's a pair of a guy who has a lot of talent, maybe not super well known, but he is a dark horse, no doubt.
So live coverage of the 2020 Australian Open continues here on this Wednesday.
I think Ashley for joining the broadcast.
I greatly appreciate it and yeah, it's been a fun tournament so far.
Roger Federer already through to the third round.
He took care of business easily yesterday.
Yes, Djokovic one yesterday.
What's going on? Avery? Glad to have you here.
Glad to have you here, man.
Hope you're having a good night. Yup.
Yeah, He plays Ah Nishioka Tomorrow in the third round.
That is correct.
Coco Golf plays No Naomi Osaka tomorrow as well.
That should be fun.
Glad to have you here.
Avery and Miami.
Cain's along with Ashley.
Glad to have you all here on this Wednesday night of Australian Open action.
How about Caroline Wozniacki? She's gonna retire at the end of the tournament.
But she won last night to keep her career going.
At least a little bit longer.
Of course. Coco Golf.
The 15 year old sensation from Florida, she made an incredible comeback in the second round, down three to nothing in the third set against Krista and ended up winning, which will send her up for another match up with them Sock and then Serena Williams just really doing Serena Williams things.
Her 1st 2 matches have been pure dominance.
Uh, she's the favorite on the woman's side to win this tournament and we are seeing why a beautiful day in Melbourne, Australia, at the 2020 Australian Open.
It's 68 degrees Fahrenheit, mostly cloudy, the humidity 66%.
The winds still up there going northwest at 22 miles an hour and for the forecast showers are likely.
Unfortunately, right now it's beautiful.
But as the day progresses because keep in mind it's one PM in the afternoon there.
So as the day moves on, we'll see how those conditions hold up the air quality writing.
By the way, PM 2.5 concentrate.
The current air quality reading is at three.
The to 97 are playable conditions.
So no, absolutely no worries there.
Thanks for the follow Ashley.
I appreciate it because of the fires in the country.
Um, you know that air quality reading? Definitely important.
But the 1st 4 days now in the tournament, that hasn't really been a concern.
It wasn't concerned the qualifying rounds, but since then not too much.
The fourth day of action from Down Under is underway second round scheduled to conclude today and then tomorrow we get ready for the third round when the field of 1 28 from the men won 28 from the woman will be cut down all the way to 32.
So 64 total for singles between the men and the woman.
So it's exciting times as we get closer and closer to the end of week one in the tournament and we're really getting to find out.
We're really getting to find out.
You know what, What players are capable are gonna be capable of making a deep run.
You know, we had a we had a good idea earlier on before this tournament started.
But now that we've seen two matches from most players, after today, it will be too for everyone.
Um, you know, we'll have a good idea of of really, who? The dark horses Maybe are the watch.
And then, you know, always the ones at the top, like joke of inch Federer in the dawn.
Then the woman's side.
Serena Williams, as always.
You know, we're seeing once again this year that they're not going away. Quite hit.
They're not going away quite yet.
It's gonna be good to see Djokovic back in action.
Let's take a look at the woman's top half of the bracket.
Their scheduled for Friday, Sunday and Tuesday.
Third round match ups all set up on that half.
Ashleigh Barty taken on Elena Reebok.
Tina uh, Alison Riske against Julia Georgia's Madison Keys against Maria Sakari.
Katarina Alexandrova against Petra Kvitova.
And then the match.
Republican forded most Naomi Osaka.
Taken on Coco Goff.
Zom shway against Sophia Ken on his job or taking on Caroline Wozniacki in one c on taking on Serena Williams.
So just in the top half alone, we still have five Americans remaining out of those out of those 32.
So or rather, 16.
That's just the top half.
They're still more Americans on the bottom half to fill out the bracket of 32 after tonight's action, so really, really a lot to look forward to.
There's a lot of good Americans on the woman's side and, ah yes, Oh, thanks Isaac and Owen for joining the broadcast.
I appreciate it, guys live action coming up in a moment, but first I want to talk about the Cocoa Golf Naomi Osaka rematch that's coming up.
These two men in the in the U S Open, you might remember.
And, you know, Naomi Osaka got the way than pretty much dominant fashion.
Um, you know, Osaka was incredible, that tournament, and you know, she was playing her best tennis in that match.
I think this match, you know, Osaka is obviously the favorite.
I think those soccer will get the wind in Straits.
That's what I think.
Golf will make both sets competitive.
I don't think it will be nearly as quick as that match went back in the U. S.
And so I'm definitely looking forward to what should be an intriguing matchup.
Yeah, at the U. S. Open in the third round of soccer.
Won that match 6360 I don't think I think it's gonna be much closer.
I still think Osaka gets the win in straight sets.
I'd be impressed if golf forced it to three, but, uh, you know it.
It should be a fun match up.
No to help, maybe perhaps arrival, reforming, who knows? But yeah, Coco got four career record in majors is seven and two.
I'd say that's pretty good for a 15 year old, so, you know, as long as she stays in this tournament, everyone and myself included, are going to keep on talking about her because she really is the real deal.
And it's Chapter two of Naomi Osaka against Coco Goths.
Third round action gets underway tomorrow at 9 p.m.
Eastern Time and Osaka, 22 years of age.
Goths just 15 a soccer ranked fourth in the world.
Golf all the way up to 67th.
Osaka, already with five titles.
A two time major champion golf has one title of her own.
A 39 major match wins Goff with seven prize money so far.
4 million Goff $558,000.
It's pretty crazy because I literally thought that I thought that golf was Osaka.
Rather was still young, But then, once golf emerged, Osaka's an old moldy compared to cough seven years older, even though the socket was just 22.
Yeah, I did come and take my high school's.
Yeah, I call it my high school's girls hockey game.
Yeah, I did. You guessed it.
So yeah, but at least up Excuse me.
I wanted to get on here for Ah, for a little bit of Australian open action before I have to get to bed.
Do they win now? They tied 2 to 2, but they were down two to nothing heading into the third period.
So they scored two goals in less than two.
And it's, uh you haven't been here. No, I Yeah.
I appreciate you stopping by every I appreciate events.
Yeah. They tied 2 to 2.
It was a It was a It was a good game. I mean, frustrating.
1st 2 periods for Franklin, but, uh, they came alive in the third three days.
Kind of feel like nothing now.
I was reading something.
And the town that I live in Ah Franklin, Massachusetts, was actually voted the third safest town in the country.
I was pretty amazed by that.
They've always been in the top 25 but yeah, it's pretty crazy.
When I saw that, there's actually I think five towns from Massachusetts there in the top 25 So yeah, I guess I live in a safe town that Yeah, 15 years old.
She is Miami Cain's e up, so she'll take the court tomorrow.
I'm waiting for ESPN two to get oh, live action here, which they should be Any moment.
The the the The bummer thing about tonight is that the matches on the outer courts got delayed Thio 10 30 Eastern time because of all the rain they got yesterday and then overnight as well.
Um, so the grounds crew working on all of that, But they are in action on the three main courts.
Rod Laver, Margaret Court and Melbourne Arena.
What side do they look out on the Franklin thing for? The safest.
Let me pull it up.
I forget what sight it was, but, um, I read it earlier today.
I'll find it in a moment.
All right. Sounds good.
And then, um, yes.
So but going back to the tennis action here has been a fun three days.
I don't know about you guys, but I've enjoyed all of the action so far.
You know, it stinks.
How? That matches air in the middle of the night.
But you know you want to see of Illinois cities are on it. Yeah, I forget.
If Illinois Sir, these are I'll tryto try to find it wherever I found it at even Sally you.
But yeah, you're doing the Lakers game tomorrow. Cool. Cool. Cool.
Yeah, Right now, it's a nice day in Australia, but rain is supposed to come in again later on what you know is good in the sense that because of the fires going on, that's the good news about it.
But the men's ball in half of the bracket, which they'll play Friday, Sunday, Tuesday.
Well, how about Sandra in the American? He's still alive.
He pulled off on upset beating number eight rate Barratt.
Teenie, that was quite impressive.
You're currently watching Aaron Hernandez TV series on Netflix. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
That was, like, uh, came out.
A lot of people are watching it.
Yeah, it's cool.
Yeah, I might check it out.
So, yeah, the path to the semifinal, Which would be against Djokovic for Roger Federer.
Well, his third on opponent is Millman.
Ah, and that is rather 16.
Opponent would be foolish of inch.
The quarterfinal matchup would could be against phony, uh, Paul or fuchsia ***** Could be a surround 16 matchup and then quarter file.
Could be phony paella.
Sandra or query.
So that's the road.
Wouldn't we love to see a joke of it? Joke, Pitch fender match up in the semis? I sure would.
It's really interesting since I'm a pat spread out like, Yeah, I think I think I think I'd see it was I think I find it interesting yet for sure.
So now it's like a joke of inches path to the semifinal against Federer, his third round match uphill.
He played Nishioka.
His around the 16 match will be will be either against Schwartzman or lay a *****.
And then in the quarter files he leave their place since he busts Batista.
Good rabbits or chill.
It's all four of those guys are really good.
And all of those guys have a total combined 44 titles.
So it's no easy path, but definitely doable for Novak.
He Yeah, he had three murders. Yup.
It's unfortunate he I know he had everything in life and ruin that. Yup.
But you got a $40 million deal. Yeah.
Wow, that's crazy.
That is crazy, man, but yeah, Hopefully ESPN gets us to live tennis.
I hate when they talk around the studio forever, But we should be soon.
Med would have taking the court as he gets ready for his matchup.
So hopefully, hopefully we can get out there very shortly.
Giniel Medvedev taking on Pedro Martinez, the Russian against the Spaniard in the men's second round action from Margaret Court Arena.
That is what's coming up next.
I just first envy Zion debut as getting tennis shorts on shortly.
But yeah, I'll definitely keep an eye on science debut while people are hyping it up.
Uh, yeah, Well, yeah.
Daniel Med would have had a really faring tail run at the US Open.
He made it all the way.
The final you may remember, he became literally a villain.
There I was, common training matches here on SportsCastr.
And, you know, he was slamming his racket.
The fans were booing him.
I don't know if any of you remember that, Um, but I was literally calling his match live when he yanked the hey, uh, the ah towel out of the ball, boys hand.
He flipped off his opponent.
I forget who he's playing, but it was pretty crazy.
He became an absolute villain and made it all the way to the final.
That was that was something special.
Then by the end of the tournament, the fans pretty much just had respect for him because he was backing up pretty much at all is talking and stuff.
So that was That was pretty crazy.
But that was a fun, fun tournament for genteel men.
But that, that's for sure.
And thank you, Rebecca, for joining the broadcast.
Glad to have you here.
You're making a comic for your school. Nice.
Yeah, that whole thing was pretty funny.
Oh, yours is about Babe Ruth. Cool.
Cool comic for the twenties and running a newspaper.
Yeah, that's awesome.
In Yeah, my, uh, finals for Ah, my semester.
First semester ends Friday, so I got a ton of tests coming up.
Medvedev from 2019 in Washington D C.
To the end of the year has had a 29 and seven record.
He's only getting better in Washington.
He was a runner up at the Montreal matters 1000 years.
A runner up at the Cincinnati Masters.
He was a champion at the US Open.
As I mentioned, a runner up in ST Petersburg and the Shanghai Masters.
1000. He was a champion.
And the Paris Masters 1000.
He was ousted in the first round, but for the most part, he has impressed.
He's has impressed since the summer before the U. S.
Open even got underway.
Any chips for a comic to do about the 19 twenties? You have no ideas? Uh, I'm not sure.
Even I'm not sure if I can help you out with that.
The comic about the 19 twenties? Yeah.
I don't have any ideas, to be honest off the top of her, huh? What's my G p a.
Ah. Well, weighted.
Like I take all honors classes.
So years is a 2.3.
I take all those classes.
Actually, unweighted ITT's a four point.
Oh, yeah, I have.
I have always right now, So yeah.
Yeah, that's what everyone says.
I'm a good student.
Oh, it's hard for you for your test. Yeah.
High school's pretty, uh, pretty hard.
Honestly, it's a lot of work, but you know, any tips and some older, um, just study a lot and get all your work done.
Like don't slack off on homework.
Homework is actually important.
Yeah, and, you know, I just study on and I pay attention in class, so I really d'oh, uh, i'll do anything above and beyond, but yeah, pretty much.
Uh, but we will have live tennis next, folks, so don't go anywhere.
How long does homework take me? Uh, take for me. It depends.
Sometimes it takes, like, three or four hours at the most, but yeah, that sound like a bad day.
Ah, but then, like, other times, it's like some days, it's only like one or two.
It's like 30 minutes to an hour.
Yeah, Yeah, I take all honors classes.
Yeah, I pretty much get all my homework done before I go on here.
You know, that's my afternoon.
Uh, but yeah, it's a lot, but I also have something called directed study, which is where I, um it's like a one.
It's, ah, class that I have where I get where it's like an hour of what you can do whatever you want.
You can get work done and all that.
And so sometimes, if I don't, like, finish all my own work, I can get it done there or study a little more there.
Thanks for the whistle.
I appreciate that, Rebecca.
And at the 2020 Australian Open its deal.
Medvedev against Pedro Martinez from Margaret Court Arena.
That is coming up right about now.
Everybody that is coming up, you know, they're warming up right now and also coming up.
And Rod Laver Arena Karolina Pliskova, Number two in the world.
Taken on Laura Sigmund.
We might get a little bit of action there as well.
And then at Radley Marina at 10 p.
Eastern time, Alexander's Vera will be taken on Igor Guaracy, Mose.
And then, as we get deeper and deeper into the night here on the East Coast at on Thursday, tomorrow morning at 3 a.
Eastern sign from Rod Laver Arena, it will be some Oda jalape against Harriet Dark, the British.
You know, the British player who's under the radar a little bit.
We'll see if she can pull off an upset against Simona Halep.
And then at 4:30 a.
Eastern time tomorrow morning, it's Rafael Nidal taking on Federico Federico del Bonis.
So maybe when I wake up for school, huh? I can catch the end of that one, perhaps lots of common state.
But just see the n r.
In Let's get it out to Margaret Court Arena, where Medvedev is ready to get going in his second round match up.
Oh, no, No worries.
No, no worries were We haven't got live action underway.
It's no, no worries.
No, it's all right to you. Don't worry.
So we are ready to get action going in.
The Medvedev is on the court.
I don't know why it took so long for us to get a lot match, but ESPN is finally showing it.
Thank goodness Medvedev will serve to start this match.
So here we go, med, but have no doubt the favorite.
I mean, I think he's primed to make a run to the final.
He definitely has the ability to do it, and that is a nice start.
He delivers an ace right off the bat.
It's 15 love. Just like that.
Medvedev ranked fourth in the world, the Russian who's been making his way up the rankings in the first serve off the net.
No, no. I understand every Avery.
So we finally got a rally going here on the second point of the game and too much on the forehand shot from Med Motive as both players were playing from the baseline.
And that's an ace right down the middle from Deal Medvedev.
And that's the second ace already have the night on three serves? Yeah, his service absolutely deadly.
He rarely loses in service games.
Yeah, I'm with you on that.
Tennis is some underrated.
Yeah, I'm with you every hit, you know? No, not a lot of people of it, But, you know, it's fun, especially the major opens backhand shot down the line from Medvedev.
Martinez gets there in time.
Now a rally on the backhand.
Medvedev grows cross court on the forehand down the line from Martinez, and he puts too much on it as that one will go long.
He was looking for the powerful forehand as he was closing into the net, but couldn't quite get it in play.
40 15 game point for deal.
Medved of here in a great return there from Martinez and out of position is Medvedev in perfect placement on the forehand shot from Martinez.
It really all started from the return on the backhand, which is not easy to return, pointed right near the sideline.
Med would have had the stretch out to even get to it, and he was well out of position by the time Martinez played it on the forehand shot, 40 30.
Martinez here trying to force induced the return, is in play, but a powerful forehand from Medvedev with a lot of time to think about it as well.
And he takes care of business.
In the first game, up one to nothing in the first set in in Montreal, Giniel Med would have took on Rafael Nidal.
He lost in adult.
But it was a great match.
And in Cincinnati many would have wanted all and then at the US Open, where really all eyes, uh, caught on to this guy.
He went in a marathon match in the final against it all.
Four hours, 51 minutes.
I commentated that whole thing, actually.
And, uh, what a match that Waas and Med would have ultimately falling short and five sets.
What? It was an incredible effort nonetheless.
I mean, absolutely incredible from Tennille Medvedev, and he's definitely a player.
That's that's on the rise.
There's no denying that.
All right, so both players switch sides.
Martinez serving for the first time tonight well, the afternoon in Australia.
Yeah, now they'll rally on the forehand from the baseline and Medvedev goes down the line.
Martinez reaches out, Medvedev, closing in perfect placement on the in the corner with the forehand shot ends.
A powerful foreign shot down line is really what put.
Men would have been pried position to get the point as Martinez had the stretch out almost to a full on split to get to that one on the one hand backhand.
He didn't return it, but no problem for amendment.
Embassy closed in on the net, and that forehand shot is along from Medvedev.
So not enough at 15 apiece, this one taken place at Margaret Court Arena, one of the best courts at Melbourne Park in Australia for this tournament that never seems to disappoint AR 15 all Martinez serving from the right side that will be let first service, so he will try again here in his first serve, hits the net.
So he looked to avoid the double fault now that serve in play backhand cross court from Medvedev.
Now the slice from Martinez rally carries on both players of the baseline, each one waiting for the other to make a move.
They're still going cross court, and now Martinez, with the slice, would have still on the backhand.
Now he'll switch to the forehand, goes near the baseline cross court from Martinez cross court as well from Ned.
But Evan Martinez tried the play.
What would have been a tough shot to execute, trying to go around the net and get it on the sideline.
So it ended up being just wide.
In the end, a nice rally between those 2 15 30 and that first serve is off the net.
So second serve code of Martinez has struggled on the first serve so far.
In his first service game, he gets the 2nd 1 in play, both players moving on the baseline backhand from Medvedev, the one handed forehand slice Medvedev down the line and they continue rallying.
But madmen have mrs the backhand shot as an incident.
That's a rare miss from him.
A routine shot basically right there but unable to execute.
And a bomb boy, quickly help it out.
As there was an extra one on the court.
At 30 all, Martinez, a servant, play a nice drop, shot his men.
But I'm gonna get there.
Yes, Iwill Martinez, we're reaching out.
And now Medvedev on the backhand gets to it and we continue play.
And then med men have Mrs the forehand shot, although he is going to challenge the call.
That last shot was kind of weak in the end, on the forehand.
And that seems to be because he thought it was out before that.
So he wasn't really trying there because he had a great effort to get there.
And here comes the rain.
So the rain has started to come down.
I know if Medvedev was complaining about that or the birds flying around and it's 40 30 Martinez and play will be stopped as they get ready to close the roof. So no challenge.
That's what Medvedev is arguing about.
I guess the rain, I guess the rain.
Maybe the birds, too, that there were birds flying around up in the top section of Margaret Court Arena.
So play will be stopped as the roof will be closing the white down the courts and get ready to resume play.
That's the beauty of Margaret Court Arena.
We got the roof so the roof is moving in.
It keeps on raining in Australia, which it's not the worst case with the fires, as I said earlier, but it can affect the tennis, you know, especially in the outer courts, where they already had matches delayed.
They haven't even got underway on the outer courts yet because of the rain from yesterday that there still, you know, there's been like there's like floods on the courts, the grounds crew doing the best work they possibly can.
But there was so much down pouring rain yesterday that they couldn't get play underway at the normal time of 11 a.
Local time. So they'll have to wait till 12:30 p.m.
Or rather no, the other courts are getting underway.
They got away an hour under way an hour ago. Excuse me? My bed.
What am I screaming tomorrow and Friday? Ah, Tomorrow I'll be doing the NFL Pro Bowl skills showed out, I might be a little late for it.
Yeah, I will be a little late because I'm doing my high school hockey game, but I'll be there for the very end.
Um, and then Friday, I'll be on for the NHL skills competition.
So it's a pretty fun weekend with all Star action, both the NHL and NFL.
I'll be back to the Australian Open at the beginning of next week, but I'm just gonna take a little break and do some All Star action because I've never done skills competitions before.
It'll be something different and fun.
It should be good.
So, yeah, that's all be streaming tomorrow on Friday.
I'll also be a little bit late Friday, but not not that late.
Doing basketball at my school.
It's a busy week, but anyways, yeah, so So I will be back tomorrow and Friday for some all star competitions in the NFL and NHL.
All right, so we're ready to resume play the roof closing pretty quickly, and they're back on the court, 40 30 Martinez looking for his first game of the match.
First serve off the net and you know the conditions definitely changed when when the play is under the roof and we got a good rally here, that forehand shot on the baseline.
But they're gonna call it out and the game goes to Martinez all none of that one apiece in the first set.
Here are the 2020 Australian Open odds to win the men's title entering the tournament from Caesar's Novak Djokovic.
6 to 5 Where I filed Adult at Fordo one day.
Neil Medvedev, the third best favored ahead of Federer.
Mentioned about 15 to 2 odds.
Federer at 9 to 1.
Stephan of 60 Pasta, 10 toe, one.
Dominic Team at 16 to 1 as well.

Thanks for stopping by tonight.
Here on SportsCastr 15 Love Medvedev.
You're glad I even exist. Hat.
That means a lot.
I appreciate it and I appreciate it.
What's going on? Vel and glad to have you here on SportsCastr man.
Hope you're doing good on the West Coast in the forehand.
Cross court shot is wide from Martinez.
Just like that, It's 40 love game point for Danielle Medvedev.
Glad to have you here, Von.
Hope you're doing good, man.
Happy birthday to you as well.
Today is your birthday, correct.
Happy birthday, man.
Hope you had a wonderful birthday.
And Medvedev with a strong start, he takes those third game of the set he leads to toe 1 11 minutes into this match.
Yesterday is your birthday.
Well, happy birthday, man.
Hope you had a good one, dog and I will be right back in less than a minute for more Australian Open action.
Right here on SportsCastr Medvedev leads Martinez early on to the one in the first set from Margaret Court Arena.
Stay tuned, everybody All right.
Welcome back, Everybody glad to have you here.
I'm nearly first. There's a diehard Boston band.
You're such a good time commentator.
I appreciate it, man. I appreciate it.
I'm a diehard Boston and that you could actually get along with Yeah, there's probably not many who knows.
That means a lot said Yes, and the happy birthday it along as well.
All right, so from Margaret Court Arena, we resume play 2 to 1.
Medvedev Martinez, serving in Melbourne, Australia day for the tournament.
Second round action.
Couldn't clues today, and that shot is long on the one handed forehand shot.
She's gonna email the principal about all right. That's good.
Yeah, just ignore them. Volunteer.
That's good, love. 30.
Now bed would have with What's that bed? Well, excuse me.
Six consecutive points.
Well, if it's for a head, I don't want to know what's going on with you and then I guess I don't.
Then all right, so we resume play, love.
30 Martinez on the backhand.
Medvedev goes cross court on the four year that's in play, and now Martina is looking for the drop shot but unable to execute as that hits the net.
Love, 43 break points Now for Medvedev.
He has a chance to go up 3 to 1.
Spent a comfortable start here for DeMille Medvedev.
So Martinez, serving from the left side with a lot of work to do to get back into this hole in this into this game, I should say.
And now both players from the base on the forehand, Medvedev with too much power on his forehand shot that goes along 15 40.
All right, So another break point opportunity for Medvedev yet again.
The return on the forehand, off the net.
And just like that 30 40 break point number 34 day Neil.
That would be the last thing Medvedev would want, letting Martinez get this back to a deuce.
He was in control of this game.
First serve off the net.
Second serve from Martinez is in play and Medvedev on the backhand, where she is adjusting on the forehead.
He goes cross court and Martinez misses the backhand shot down the line.
Negative With the first break of the game, 3 to 1.
He leads now, serving with a chance to really take control of this first set, please.
So I don't know what, Thea, with the rain starting up what's going on in the outer courts because they were supposed to get underway four minutes ago.
But I I don't know whether they got they got under way an hour ago.
I miscalculated the time zone.
Sorry they got in their way an hour ago, so but I don't know if they stop play or not.
That remains to be seen.
Hopefully, I'll get an update on that shortly.
And now we have a challenge taking place.
Let's see on the review.
Yeah, I was clearly in from from Martinez.
So point to Martinez, love.
15 men would have challenged that one mid point, which is always a risk, because you have to be absolutely positive that the shots out of play and med, but have arguing about something.
I'm not sure what, but he will serve it in play.
He is a powerful serve, to say the least, but he has too much on the forehand shot off of the return from Martinez, and it's love 30.
Thanks so much for being a part of the broadcast.
Everybody, I appreciate it, guys, the head is the most important part of your body.
All right, cross court forehand.
That one is long from Martinez, 15 30 Medvedev with the first point of the game for him in the reminder.
NY OMI Osaka will be in action against the 15 year old Cocoa Goff.
Much anticipated matchup.
That coverage begins for that one tomorrow at nine.
Should be an entertaining 1 30 All here, Luger is a beat.
Uh, I'm not even gonna try to pronounce her name.
I've never heard of her talk.
Tell me, Tomjanovich.
Yeah, she she beat her and three sets. Okay.
See ya. Move. Ruth got the wind.
Thanks for that update.
I appreciate him in and magnet them with a powerful backhand shot down the line and he reestablishes himself in the game.
Game point here.
Great shot backhand down the line is what men would have absolutely loves.
First serve is long.
Second service good.
And Martinez closing in on the return.
He'll now go with the slice forehand from Medvedev and Martinez goes cross court that one off the net, and it won't go over.
So Medvedev takes the game.
He now leads 4 to 1 in the opening set, and he will look to close out the first set.
After this quick break.
Kneel in the early stages of this one.
I'll be back with more live commentary of Australian Open action on day four of the tournament.
As the second round wraps up today, don't go anywhere. I'll be right back.
All right on Rod Laver Arena.
As Vaughn just mentioned Muga, Roosa taken care of business.
It wasn't easy for her, but she got the win in three sets, 633663 And so she will await the winner of Elina Svitolina and Lauren Davis.
That matchup will take place in prime time.
Excuse me, Prime time in Australia, 5 a.m.
So the opposite of prime time here.
That's an update over at Ron Labor and back at Margaret Court Arena.
Martina starts the game off with an ace down 4 to 1 in the first set, and the forehand return there from Medvedev is short.
You was standing way back there on that return.
That's probably why he couldn't get the return over the net.
He was so far back, 30 love Martinez.
There has been causing distractions that both players are complaining about, not really sure what it's all about, must be must be the crowd.
Apparently, there's one or two birds that didn't make its way out when the roof closed and that forehand shot down the line hits the net from Martinez.
So it's now 30 15.
What's going on? Ryan? Glad to have you here on this.
Was it Wednesday night? That's right.
Hope you're doing good, Ryan.
And glad to have you here, man.
Australian Open action.
That's why sports leagues restrictive ahead.
Contact. Yeah, all right.
So 30 15 Martinez serving and Medvedev with the drop shot.
Martine is gonna get their Medvedev closes on the net.
And nice, beautiful job done.
Thereby deal meant.
But if he played that shot absolutely perfectly.
And yet madmen have second serve return hit points in round one, arranging from 16 feet at the baseline, his return speed on average, 68 miles an hour.
His return speed back way behind the baseline is the whole 12 more miles an hour.
Zions debut is starting.
Yeah, yep, that's Ah much anticipated.
Fowler's announcing this.
He does college football as well.
I'm sure that's what your use what you're used to hearing him already up and Medvedev closing in, couldn't quite get the forehand shot over.
That was a great job by Martinez.
You got that one just over in.
Many would have given everything he come.
He had to get there but unable to get it over.
It's nice to hear him again.
You have? Yeah, definitely.
He's pretty good at commentating channels.
I'd say he's your favorite answer. Yep.
Yeah, I like Fowler.
Like Chris Fowler.
You're still very depressed at the college football season. Over.
What can you do? All right, So at 40 30 Medvedev puts too much on that shot.
And just like that, for two, Martinez takes thegame toe.
At least keep things interesting here.
In the first set, Medvedev will serve up by two Medvedev with the third best odds to win this whole tournament.
He has better odds than Federer, even which is pretty hard to believe.
But it's the reality that Medvedev is becoming a great player drop shot hero played by Martinez.
First of all, the ability to get to Medvedev shot.
But then the placement giving men would have not even a chance to get to it.
The one handed forehand and right along the sideline.
That's an absolute beauty of a shot. Love. 15.
Yeah, I hope so, Right? I hope so.
He's definitely still got it in him.
To win it better is my favorite tennis player.
Personally, he's a class act.
I mean, Djokovic chin up in the dollar as well, but I always just really like Federer to further their the most time.
It I like the other ones, too, but Federer is up my definitely my favorite, and that return goes along.
But we do have a challenge.
So let's see if this challenge pays off.
Tennis challenges are are the easiest that compared to all other sports, they don't take forever to look at it.
They have a technology system, shows you right where the ball and oh, it was just barely out.
I mean, less than a millimeter.
You could barely see the space between the blue court in the white line, but there was a little bit there.
Wow! And Martinez misses the backhand shot.
You took a year off of tennis last year, but you'll try to watch as much sense as you can. Cool.
Cool. Yeah. Yeah.
You know, like I really like tennis, but I like other sports also.
So, like I watched the four major opens for tennis.
Not much more than that, but the four major opens I'm all in for, so basically a total of two months a year.
I'm dedicated to tennis because each tournaments two weeks.
So, yeah, all right, 15 31st.
Serve off the net from Medvedev.
The Celtics, by the way, absolutely smack the Grizzlies.
That was pretty nice to see, although Tatum got injured in the third quarter and Martinez unable to return that when it's 30 all as long as men would have takes care businesses service game, then you'll have absolutely no problem this match because he could get a couple breaks.
You definitely capable of that.
He's already done.
So once in this first set, you'll go forehand Now the slice from Martinez, No to the backhand, and Martinez misses the forehead.
So they were going back and forth there between forehand, backhand, both of them battling right inside the baseline.
Each of them and you know, it's really been, uh, there's been some really nice shots, but there's been a lot of unforced errors too, that have gifted the opponent's Ah, the opponent points of 40 30 now in favor of Medvedev's no first service.
All man, that was the absolute rocket on that serve.
Second service in play, in a backhand shot down the line bed that I was gonna get there.
But that shot is long.
What a wanna play by Martinez.
Absolute bullet down the line.
And, you know, Meg would have got to it, but really had no control over where that shot was going.
And we're now in induce for a service long.
I went off the net.
He's dealing 203 kilometers an hour right now.
Play the forehand.
Return alone from Martinez.
This game has already lasted four minutes as we're in the deuce advantage to do Neil as he looks to go up five to.
It's taking a while here to serve.
Here is the serve.
That's a good one.
He lined up for the backhand shot down the line, Martinez there on the forehand, and that one is long.
Work back and induce, so Martinez staying in their juice.
A beauty of a serve.
The return is in play.
Martinez stayed alive.
Medvedev, closing the net, takes the foreign shot out of the air and rifles that one home with the overhead shot right at the net for the easy point advantage.
Back to Medvedev.
Do I watch handball? Uh, not normally, Von.
Once in a while, I will.
Yeah, and that was pretty fun.
Sometimes I watch Portuguese roller hockey, too.
Not not ice hockey, unfortunately, but roller hockey, where they're in a gym, on roller blades, playing hockey, it's It's pretty entertaining.
I watched that once in a while when I have time button in handball as well and once in a while.
Not normally, though, and we're back in a juice juice.
Number three now Medved of with two straight opportunities to win the game but just unable to do so.
Yeah, this is really crucial game for Martinez, because if he can win it, then he's right.
Pack it because you'll be serving the next game, so this is really the decider.
I think this Whoever wins this game, if Medvedev wins it, then this set is a done deal.
If Martinez does, then we'll get a competitive rest of the set advantage to Martinez to double fault.
There. Break point.
Coming up this game now over six minutes long.
Bowling is an underrated sport.
Yeah, I mean, yeah, I like my grandpa watches a bit of bowling.
Yeah, movie vets on the Red Sox.
Actually, he's like he's an excellent bowler from Yeah, yeah, Bowling's pretty fun.
I like playing it more than launching it.
Bowling's fun to watch Earth to play.
It's it's pretty.
It's pretty good.
I mean, uh, and now a good rally here.
Med would have too much on the backhand and Martinez with the break, his first of the match, and he's right back in it.
It looks like you'll be a comfortable first set victory for him.
But Martinez, with other plans that will, unfortunately have to do it for my broadcast.
Everybody, I do gotta head to bed because I got school tomorrow, but at least I got to go on and commentate the beginning of that Medvedev Martinez matchup.
I hope you enjoy the broadcast, everybody, and have a great night.
I'll be back on tomorrow.
Glad to see a man.
Good to have you here tomorrow for the NFL Pro Bowl skills showdown.
See, Avery? Thanks for stopping by. Appreciate Mint.
And it felt Pro Bowl skills showdown tomorrow.
I'll be a little bit late for it, but I will be on for it.
So we'll see if, um, we'll see how much I could get on for.
But I'll definitely be on for that tomorrow.
Watch the games at school. Tennis, CIA.
I don't know if I'll be able to do it at school.
I got I got a lot of work to do at school tomorrow, but we'll see if I can sneak in.
Just getting Yeah, I wish I wish.
But I have a great night.
Have a great night, Von.
Have a great night.
Everyone who joined me, I'm Samuel Rea saying so long And I will see you next time.
