This is Alex from Run rap sports here to break down Sunday Night Football.
And what that matchup really does put the NFC West status.
Hey, Eddie, pockets 27.
Thanks for joining the Stream first.
I wanted to kind of go over the usage of girly and the way that the Los Angeles Rams have kind of revamped themselves to kind of go the route of what they used to do this past two seasons, where what really led to their success and that was really getting the game going from Todd Gurley getting extensive usage, you know? Hey, had 23 carries, 79 yards, one touched up through the ground.
He had four receptions for 34 yards, kind of a vintage game for girlie, something that kind of hasn't been going on the season.
It's kind of been a you know, let's put it in golfs hands and kind of have, Ah, the game plan kind of be a throw, run off the throws or run off Thea aerial assault and it just hasn't been working for them.
But they've really kind of Ah, it looks like they've really gotten themselves more involved with running the ball with girly, especially in these last couple of weeks.
So I think that kind of shows their emphasis of kind of going back to what works.
Hey, Andy Lawson.
Uh, thanks for joining Stream, but creativity on playcalling went up.
And I agree with that because they were very well known for the getting the receivers involved on the running game.
You know, Reynolds got three carries.
Robert Woods got to, you know, even Brandin cooks would get involved in years past, and it just makes their offense just that much more dynamic.
And it all really starts from Todd Gurley.
And, you know, as as his usage has gone up, they've looked a lot better.
I mean, they put up 28 points against the Seattle Seahawks team defense that at some points have really looked like a strong unit.
But I definitely think that if the Rams want toe, you know, went out and put themselves in a position to make the playoffs, it would be at the capable hands of Todd Gurley.
So, you know, they really need to get him going.
Need to get him, you know, more involved in the screens.
He was just such a dynamic player, and I know that knee injury that he's been kind of nursing since last season has been, you know, kind of putting a cloud over maybe the way that McVeigh is kind of running that offense, But it's got to go through Todd Gurley.
You've gotta put your best playmakers in position to help you win, and that's what they gotta do.
Moving forward for them to solidify themselves in this playoff race and for the Seattle Seahawks were shot.
Penny had a very scary injury at one point.
Definitely looked like it was going to be a possible Tornado CEO.
Ah, student Doc from Unwrap sports.
If you don't follow him, follow him now.
He definitely is giving weekly updates on injuries and, you know, breakdown the severity just by the video itself.
So definitely check him out.
And anybody else from unwrap sports Definitely great network to check out.
We cover all the major sports and also, you know, you have see another great sports.
But with Rashad Penny, uh, it looks like he's it's just a sprain a c l, which I know isn't something that's minor, but definitely something that it's like kind of like a all right there.
It's an exhale, because Rashad Penny has really been a great change of pace for Carson, especially with Carson having his moments where he kind of puts the ball on the ground quite a bit, but definitely something I think that, you know, could put them in a bad spot if he misses extended time.
10 Thanks for joining Stream quote land Thank you to the same way from girly or you know what with girly.
I almost kind of attributed to kind of the way that the Panthers were so hesitant, with Cam Newton possibly clear to play but not healthy enough to really perform, too.
The standard that, you know, we're all used to.
So I think, with girly it was more.
I think maybe it was kind of like the way that we understand load management for the N B A.
Because he was very much under used in the first couple of weeks and and even when he was used, it's he wasn't really getting into rhythm, and I think that really has heard him this season because, you know, as you know, running backs, you know that they need to get in a rhythm.
You need to get them going early and you know you can kind of get them going early.
There's a better chance for you to gas the defense.
And you know, Todd Gurley in 2017 2018 consistently would take over games.
Breaking tackles and and finding seems through the screen game.
But definitely I think it's more of a staying away from girly and trying to put it in the hands of their other capable playmakers.
And it's kind of exposed Jared Goff this season.
I don't think he's a bad quarterback by any means.
I just think that he really benefited from what Curly did, too.
Basically, open up the passing game.
You know, as we all know, play action can be very deadly if you have a strong running game.
And you know, for the last couple years, talk really had been just a force on the ground and you know, this season with them kind of staying away from it.
It definitely showed that.
You know, Jared Goff, you know, definitely benefited quite a bit from the coverage is he was facing because of, you know, the defense, having eight men in the box and, you know, having a safety kind of keep an eye on him.
But again, for a shot, Penny, I definitely think him avoiding that.
That tourney CEOs major, you know, it's it's gonna be quite the race here in the NFC West, leading to my third topic.
You know, these three teams could all possibly be in the playoffs if everything works out for the Rams and the Vikings kind of drop a couple of games in the end.
But, you know, for the Seattle Seahawks, it's it's It's been a up and down season, you know.
And by that I mean, just, you know, you finally knocked the 40 Niners off out of first place, solidify yourself as a number one seed, and then, you know, one tough game against the Rams, and now you are a Fitzy, and I think that definitely, you know, kind of plays into the their strength a little bit.
I know some people might think that it's against it, but you know, they they are undefeated on the road, except for today.
But you know they've definitely being stronger on the road.
I feel I don't know if it's more of, ah, kind of a gritty mentality, you know, with Russell Wilson kind of having an M V P caliber season online can protect Wilson.
I I agree with the old lined up good point to bring up any pockets.
The offensive line is not, and I heard this during the broadcast.
I kinda wanted to bring this up.
It's more like their offenses is predicated on kind of being more of a running how my phrases they're stronger at blocking for the run.
They're not really made to block like have excellent pass protection.
And it's shown when they've kind of gotten behind in games like when they got behind against the Saints early on season.
Obviously, you saw it tonight.
Russell Wilson was definitely having to be a Houdini and get out of tight jams and and kind of, ah, put himself in a position to tear it out.
R. Thanks for joining the stream.
And, you know, it showed a lot today.
You know, his more than capable of making those plays happen.
But you know, when it's just the pockets collapse and constantly it's very hard to kind of go through your reads and make the best play out of that.
But, you know, very shaky offensive performance.
You know, we do see that they did score, but it was off an interception touchdown.
So the Los Angeles Rams looked a lot like the Rams of last year in this game in particular.
Whether it was, you know, Aaron, Donald Fowler, you know, getting intense pressure.
You know, Todd really running the ball.
And even this the usage of the receivers.
You know, Reynolds and what's getting involved in their, you know, ground game as well.
It's crazy to think that the Rams, you know, offensive coordinator with McVeigh, you know, the head coach didn't realize that, you know? Hey, maybe we should start to go to this when we were kind of shaky early on the season, which, you know, they didn't want a couple of games, kind of started off a little bit stronger, but just baffles me that you paid Todd Gurley that money.
But you don't use him to its full potential, you know? Obviously we don't know how serious that knee injury could be.
If it's like that, be hernia, that is, you know, long term, it's affecting him.
You know, if he's in pain right now, you know, Postgame refused in pain during the game.
But it's just one of those things were from the outside looking in without knowing anything else.
It just kind of looks like maybe McVeigh was trying to maybe change up on the NFL.
And, you know, everybody's game planning towards girly.
Let's make coffee, beat them.
And clearly it didn't work more times than not.
And now it's a very interesting situation for the playoffs for the NFC, you know, currently the Vikings and the that's the any not the Green Bay Packers and the Seahawks.
They're both currently in the race for the wild card spot, which is insane because Seahawks or 10 and three Minnesota Vikings or 94 if you look at the A F C Buffalo Bills or nine and four steals their eight and five so definitely a higher standard in the NFC this year.
But if the Rams let's look at their next couple of games, Rams have the Dallas Cowboys, who have not been able to beat a team over 500.
And as the record stands right now, the Rams are currently above 500.
So, uh, based on averages and statistics, I definitely would say Ramps could have a real chance of getting that victory the next game.
After that, they do have a are going to San Francisco to face the 40 Niners and with the 40 Niners trying to ensure that they solidify their home field advantage, I definitely think that's going to be a tough one for them to get a victory in.
And then they have the Arizona Cardinals, which I know have been on a four game skid.
But not a team I would like to take lightly.
Yeah, well, you know, it's been kind of harder a route for the Cowboys, especially with how inconsistent they've been hated. Tom.
Thanks for joining the Stream.
But for the Cardinals, that could be a sneaky game that could really end their playoff run because I know the Cardinals have been on a skin, but that team led by color Murray.
You know they have the potential to put a points and you know.
Obviously, their defense could give up a lot of points as well.
But you know, I wouldn't really count that, as in a gimme game and for the Minnesota Vikings, because obviously they are in the way for this to occur.
They do have the Chargers, and then they have to tough games against the Green Bay Packers and the Chicago Bears.
And I'm saying tough for the Chicago Bears because it looks like Travis Key might have kind of figured it out.
I don't know if that's the case going forward, but if true Biscuit is playing well, I definitely think the Bears are a dangerous team.
I definitely thought the Bears would be a lot better than they were before, but definitely something something to AH put in front of him and Seahawks to end the season have Panthers, Cardinals and 40 Niners and all three games that they have the opportunity to win.
So it will be very interesting to see if there will be a 12 and 4 13 and three team in the wild card spot in the NFC.
But yeah, definitely for the Los Angeles Rams fans, I definitely would say that there's reason to hold out hope.
You never know if the Kirk cousins of old is going to come out and, you know, kind of dropped the ball and put them in a position where they are no longer in favor.
But it's going to be a fun next couple of the NFC West, among other divisions, where it's very tight.
But I was very impressed by the Rams and very concerned for the Seahawks, because I think this really shows that once they're down, they're not really designed to kind of put them in position to lead a comeback, especially if they can't run the ball with the lead that they were the lead of the Rams had.
It was very tough for the Seahawks to kind of ground and pound the defense because, you know, you're just killing the clock, putting yourself in a bad spot.
But yeah, that is it for this live stream.
This is Alex from unwrap Sports.
Thank you for joining me.
Have a great Sunday night
