Here we go again.
Your Los Angeles Lakers, right back in the news and this time and it holds Dwayne Wade.
What else could this summer bring? We've already got Anthony Davis.
We've had DeMarcus cousins come and go and then Dwight Howard coming back.
And now we're talking Dwayne Wade.
Somehow, this is real life, and this is really happening with your Los Angeles Lakers.
We're gonna talk all about it just just a moment.

All right, so what am I talking about here? What do we say when we say Dwayne Wade is linked to the Los Angeles Lakers? Well, there's a phenomenal piece that just came out from a rush.
Mark Ozzy of the Los Angeles Times when she interviews Dwyane Wade and the focal point of the article article, is talking about Wade and LeBron, in fact, that they both have sons playing for the same high school right now and how amazing that is that they're both in L. A and and all that.
But wait throws out this little comment here, and it had to raise some eyebrows.
Uh, he eats well, here it is, he said.
You're definitely going to see me out there.
I'll be there early to work out with LeBron before the game starts.
I just want to stay around it and be as involved as I can.
So Dwayne Wade is talking about working out with LeBron James at the Staples Center before games.
We're talking pregame.
Dwayne Wade will be out there on the floor, working out with LeBron James.
No, look, that's not a huge German.
We've seen Steve Nash and a similar similar role.
After he retired, he worked as a mentor to players Dwayne Wade.
It's known to have worked out with a few players over the summer, including Josh Hart, formerly of the Los Angeles Lakers.
But then he drops this little tidbit.
The question gets posed.
Could he be inspired to rejoin James for one more season? He says, I'm done, but my trainer is going to keep me in shape just in case something happens.
I'm going to stay in shape because you never know.
Never say never.
So he starts answering that question by saying I'm done and then finish it.
Finishes it by saying, Never say never.
That doesn't sound like done.
More often than not, we're athletes.
Leave a little bit of leeway there to come back.
It tends to happen.
I mean, look, Michael Jordan was what 99% retired or whatever it was.
And then suddenly he's a Washington wizard again, so you never know.
Is it possible for Dwayne way to come back to the Los Angeles Lakers? It sounds like he's at least somewhat interested in in look.
We'd spent most of his career playing for the Miami Heat at this big celebration last season.
When he ended it, it would be a surprise to see it happen.
Given the fact that he already had his his retirement tour and all of that, it would be be shocking, really, to see him come back.
But the fact that he's not closing the door on joining LeBron in Los Angeles is interesting.
Obviously, he doesn't say it specifically, but he's clearly talking about playing for the Lakers.
He's not talking about going back to Miami.
He's not talking about going back and playing back home in Chicago or anything like that.
He's talking about playing with LeBron James, and he's not ruling that out again.
I don't think it's going toe happen, and I want to get into why.
But still, it's interesting that weight is at least open to the idea.
On the surface, you think Dwayne Wade, eh? NBA legend Definitely gonna be a Hall of Famer.
This guy is what a 13 time eh? NBA All Stars the finals M v p.
He wants to play for your team.
You say Yes, please.
All day, every day, right.
Well, not so much.
Hey, Dwayne Wade, as of right now is 37 years old.
He'll be turning 38 in January.
Last season, he did play with the Miami Heat.
He did make the All Star team, but again, that was kind of a special retirement thing.
That's why he made that team, UH, purse energy.
25th percentile offensively, 25th.
Not good at all.
49th percentile on the defensive end again.
Not good enough for what the Lakers are looking for, given that offensive production and his age gonna be pretty tough to ask him to do a whole lot out there on the basketball floor.
Hideous numbers from last year with the Miami Heat finished up shooting to 71% from the free throw line, which is actually slightly above his career.
Low scored 15 points a game, four boards for assists.
That sounds great and and all well and good.
But then you look at his percentages 33% from three.
That's not gonna get it done 43% from the field again.
Also not going to get it done on 13.
3 shots per game.
That's a lot of shots.
I had a very low percentage given the volume.
So Dwayne Wade at this point can't be the efficient scorer that the Lakers would need to be.
He can't be the defender that they need him to be given his age, and he can't play the kind of minutes that you would want.
So with all that being said is Dwayne Wade at this point, I'm talking 37 years old, really an upgrade over anybody else on the lakersroster they'd be bringing in.
We're talking if you're looking at him, taking up, say contagious couple of popes minutes is Dwyane Wade, who isn't known as a three point shooter, isn't gonna have much gravity out there and isn't gonna be able to defend point guards like KCP can do at least somewhat successfully.
Is he really an upgrade? Look, don't get me wrong, Dwayne Wade is a legend.
Amazing, amazing player.
But he can't do a lot of the things that the Lakers would need him to do.
Right now, you look at this lakersroster and the one thing they need is a wing.
They need a true small forward who could defend the big wing players.
I'm talking about your Kawai, Leonard's Paul George, Jimmy Butler.
Players like that.
Why we've been talking on here about Andre Iguodala and why he'd be a great fit for the Los Angeles Lakers.
Dwayne Wade's not that guy.
If anything, Dwayne Wade would be coming into the position that the Lakers already ridiculously deep at.
And that's the guard position where they've got Regime Rondo.
They've got Alex Caruso.
They've got Quinn Cook.
Troy Daniels, contagious couple Pope Danny Green on it, on it on.
They've got all of these guards.
And yes, you could argue that Dwyane Wade, maybe better than some of them overall.
But can he bring the skill set that the Lakers need the two things they need defense and three point shooting right now At his age, I don't think he could be the defender that they need, and he's never really been the three point shooter that they need.
Now, if you were to tell me that Wade was gonna come in for, say, 10 10 minutes a night and he was gonna control the ball and he was gonna run the offense and that was it, and maybe eat up some original Rondo's minutes that that's who's minutes he was gonna take.
Maybe, just maybe, you could talk me into it.
But even so, I think it's a really tough sell, Especially when you've got other younger players on the Lakersroster.
They can knock down open jumpers.
I think that's gonna be a real key to this season for them.
So again, as interesting as this is, and as much as it's gonna raise our eyebrows that a guy like Dwayne Wade is saying that he's not gonna rule out coming back and playing another season with LeBron James, I don't think it's a Fed.
I don't see how it would work.
And even if even if, let's say the Lakers wanted Wade and weighed one of the Lakers and they wanted to make it work, that means they got a way of somebody.
And you can say, Hey, you can cut DeMarcus cousins.
But again, you still have that problem where you needed another wing defender.
That is still a glaring hole on the Lakersroster.
They need another wing defender and so you would have to cut someone else again in order to free up an open spot for that So even if you were to waive DeMarcus Cousins and bring in Dwyane Wade, you would then have to wave somebody else like a Troy Daniels or some other young player in order to bring in a wing defender like and Andre Iguodala should they decide to make that move and in charity would all wind up free of the Memphis Grizzlies.
So again, file this one away.
I'm gonna say it's extremely unlikely that it actually happens, but interesting nonetheless, who knows, maybe at the lake experience much injuries through the season.
They go through a rough spell like that at last season with injuries, and they get some catastrophic ones that are season ending a knock on wood.
Hopefully, it doesn't happen.
But then maybe just maybe, you make a phone call to Dwayne Wade and you see how serious he is about making a comeback.
But until then, I'd have to say it's extremely unlikely that he does come back and join the Lakers, but nonetheless interesting that he is keeping that door wide open.
